[Q] New screens on unlock - Liquid Smooth JB 2.1 beta1 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Just installed the new Liquid Smooth Jellybean rom 2.1 beta. Loving it so far, the screens before unlock are just awesome, and I already have plans for them.
My question is this, I've gotten it to add widgets, but one of the ones I want to add is the Pure Grid Calendar widget by FRANCOIS DESLANDES. The thing is, it will only allow me to add the 1 week (1 row by 4 columns) widget, and I'd like to add a full month calendar which is at minimum 3 rows. Is there a way I can do this, or am I missing something simple?

[Q] Question to all you rom freaks out there

Hey Guys and Girls,
I love roms,I am always flashing new ones but I have an idea and I need help getting it.So I like sense but love gingerbread,the thing i love about sense is the lock screen where i can drag the apps to the bubble.Thats pretty much it,so I want to have gingerbread as my actual home screen,app screen,and for my keyboard.I know this sounds pretty crazy but can anyone help me find a rom or apps that can help my obtain this.Answers to this quetion would be very appreciated
install a sense rom then install a launcher from the market

Agile lock from the market is a nice sense 3.0 lockscreen clone. Its still inferior as the software is a little edgy and there aren't any sms previews like the sense 3.0 one has. I currently use this with CM7 along with sms popup from the market and it works great.
Otherwise download a stable sense rom with the sense 3.0 lockscreen (Nils Gingersense, Synergy) and use a different launcher.
There's also SupraROM which is an AOSP Sense 3.0 mix, but I'm not sure if it has the sense lockscreen.

I know when I ran MIUI about a month ago there was a Sense ring lockscreen you could install in Theme Manager. The downside was I couldn't figure out how to pick what apps other than the ones it gave you. Maybe that's changed, not sure there.

Ah right, I forgot about this option.
I do believe that they can be changed. You have to edit a text file though so its not as easy as HTC makes it. There's a MIUI lockscreen thread with a few of those sense ring lockscreen alternatives. However they all have one thing in common: when releasing the ring, the screen immediately unlocks. No cool "fly through the ring" effect.

Div033 is correct on the MIUI sense 3.0 lockscreens, they look pretty much identical but lack the fancy animation.
I'm not sure what the OP means by this:

By gingerbread, do you mean the stock AOSP look? Because if so, you could use agile lock on CM7, like has already been mentioned, or maybe try the synergy rom with the warm theme. It has the sense 3.0 lockscreen but is themed with quite a few AOSP gingerbread elements.

Launcher7 and widgets

Hello everybody,
I use Launcher7 on my SGS2. I know about most other launchers, and yes I know they support widgets way better, but I really like Launcher7's style. The only thing I am having a hard time with, is finding widgets that are compatible with this launcher / that fit in the tiles while still being readable.
Does anyone know some widgets that work well with this launcher? For now, I have found that (with a little bit of patience) the following widgets work great (next to the widgets provided within the launcher):
* Animated widget pro
* Advanced clock pro
* Google (play) music
I would love to hear from other Launcher7-users about other widgets that work for you! Please, do not post messages about other launchers, I am fully aware about their existence!
you need to experiment I have not a significant issue w/ widgets on L7.
Click on special tiles, select widget, the you get options menu:
1
2
full screen
Experiment! 1 w/ full screen
2 w/ full scree
2 alone
1 alone etc
this process gives you diff size tiles.
Some large clock widgets may be a little off I agree
good luck

[Q] Alternative widgets?

I been playing with Dualboot with FreeSG3 and CM10. The problem I find with any of these UI is the lack of Sense type widgets and features.
1. I have not a 1 height clock like I used for Sense
2. No Favorite Contact Widget like there is in Sense.
3. No good animated weather like Sense.
4. Ability to flip clock up and out of the way like Sense
5. No easy method to choose a screen as in Sense I press home button and it will than show me the pages and I can select one but with this I have to try to click on a small dot to change screen and than hope I'm selecting the right one as I have no thumbnail view for it.
I miss features of Sense I think the ultimate phone would be the Samsung Galaxy S3 with hybrid Sense/Touchwiz on it.. It has the memory to handle sense while the EVO LTE suffers from lack of RAM in the phone but the great background features of Touchwiz.
So anyone know any widgets or apps that can help emulate some of these features?

Stock calendar with nova launcher?

I love the stock touchwiz calendar widget that shows the full month with actual text on the days. Ever since I switched to nova, I can only access the calendar widget that comes with stock android. Is there a way to get touchwiz Widgets with nova?
Same problem here.

I also was dissapointed the touchwiz calendar widget was missing. The best compromise I came up with was to have it activated by double tapping the home screen.
Meeeeeeeh
I looked at a couple of other launchers and they don't have the TouchWiz calendar either - just the default. That full month widget must be something created specifically for TouchWiz like how some launchers have unique widgets to them. Might want to email the dev and see if they can extract the TouchWiz full month widget or create a similar one.
Give Calendar Pad a try it also shows text for appointments on Month Widget, only issue I have is it isn't optimized for tablets but works great on phones.

Why do launchers kill Sense widgets ?

I just got my M8 recently, love this phone Rooted it, and installed InsertCoin ROM, battery life is off the charts excellent, almost as good as my old Note 2. Anyways, I tried the stock launcher for a few days, and it's very smooth and fast, but missing very important features I have gotten so used to with Nova Launcher, and I am shocked these type of settings just aren't baked into the Android OS by default already;
#1: Custom grid size, I typically go 5 x 5, and sometimes 4 x 6, but NEVER the default 4 x 4 size, and I don't understand why Android sticks with 4 x 4 as the default grid pattern with 5" + screen phones being the norm now ? Why isn't grid size an option in the system settings on all Androids phones now ?
#2: Swipe screen controls, I always use the swipe down anywhere on screen to pull the notification shade down. So I don't have to reach all the way up to the top and pull down, I can just swipe down anywhere on the screen, and that will pull the notification shade down.
But by adding a Launcher, I use the Sense widgets :crying: I never understood that one. Why would the widgets disappear as an option, but all other widgets are still there. With Google and even HTC putting some apps on the Play Store, why doesn't HTC put the Sense 6 Clock and Weather widget up on the Store, and the Calender Widget. But it totally sucks I lose some of those really cool Sense features by going to a different launcher, and I think some of these launcher features should be part of the OS by default anyways. Why isn't adjusting the grid size a standard option yet in the OS ?
So, how many of you either run stock Sense, or install a different launcher ?
Maybe it's because those things are a trademark of HTC and giving them to everybody would dilute their brand.
And you can use Sense x Toolbox (6 due very soon) to change grid size if you're rooted and with xposed.

Ok thanks. Where can I download this Sense X Toolbox ? I looked on the PlayStore not there, is it an .apk I install ? And then I also need to install Xposed framework too ?
Well, it's Sense 5 Toolbox for Sense 5 and Sense 6 Toolbox for Sense 6 (not released yet).
You can get it through xposed or the Android Revolution thread (probably second post).

Can I just install xPosed on my One M8 that is rooted and play with that ? Or must I have this Sense Toolbox thing too ? And I am guessing Sense 5 Toolbox is not for our M8, but only for the older m7 ? So do I need to wait for the Sense 6 toolbox to be released before even using xPosed ? Or I think I read about an alpha version of Sense 6 toolbox ?
Excuse me, it's sometimes hard to keep up with which device forum I'm in.
xposed is a framework for creating mods, it's does nothing on it's own.
The alpha version does everything I want it to, but I haven't tried the grids, I don't expect it to work properly due to the softkeys. I expect it to be released around this weekend. If you can find the spreadsheet, you can check what works.
Or there might be another xposed mod that will work.
Here is the Sense 6 Toolbox thread, which includes a Google spreadsheet explaining which things work on HTC One M8. I've used it on Sprint M8 and seems good so far.
