If you have an att logo, then I am afraid that it is an inspire 4g and not a dhd. So, probably you won't have 3g on,Europe. Make sure in about phone.

I have the same problem. Mine is a A9191 model branded att.
do i have to change the radio version?
thx

that does not exist. Dhd is not att branded, inspire 4g is. Changing radios won't solve the issue, because it is hardware issue and not software.

I am not sure, but if the device has an att logo at the back, is definitely an Inspire 4G. You can set that to say Desire HD in about phone if the phone was rooted by modifiying the build.prop.
Check your apn setting with your carrier, if it is well set and you have no 3G, then ask the seller.

should work fine, they both belong to the asia region, you may have to check the radio frequencies of the service provider you wish to use if you want 3G, but as a standard 2G device there will be no problems
I think it could be SIM locked though. That can be changed using tools like gfree.

Thanks for quick reply. I asked my friend to buy unlocked version. It seems to be little cheaper than in India.
cheers,
Venkat
in any case, you always could root and flash a new radio to work properly in your service provider, =o)... i bought mine from singapore too and works fine here in Brazil, so i really believe there's no problem to get it in India....
Claro Edge + CM7 RC1
thiagodark what version are you using for the radio ? I can make my connection to be stable with Claro at Brazil.
The data connection always run with edge, I'm using this version for the radio 12.28b.60.140eP_26.03.02.15_M3. A already try other radio version and only works with the Stock OS, but for a couple of minutes.
Any help for this ?
Thanks,

I did, and already seen that. I bought my phone in Thailand when it was completely new. I.e they imported it. So they could have gotten it from anywhere, including America.
And that leaves me back to still not know which model I have. Any other suggestions ?

try looking in settings/about phone. also turn off ur phone then hold volume down + power and that will bring up ur bootloader, more info there.

UK Bought DHD usable in Canada?

Hi
I have had my DHD for almost two years. I've mow come to canada for 2 month and was wondering how I can get TELUS aim card working.. no signal is found. It worked ok on multiple UK networks.
Do I need to do more than root. My phone?
Many thanks
Sent from my Milestone using xda app-developers app
It will work if its carrier unlocked. You just need to get a TELUS sim card at any telus in canada. Hspa speeds wont work though because European desire hd uses 1900/2100 MHz and here in north America is 850/1900 mhz.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
I've tried it but no signal was found. It wouldn't connect. My brother thinks it could be hardware. Im using this milestone at the moment which works great on TELUS.
Sent from my Milestone using xda app-developers app
Update:
It's still not working, help would be great!
The APN settings seem to correct for TELUS, however, the only networks which show are Rogers Wireless. The phone still doesn't find TELUS when scanning for networks. Anyone have any idea's?
Could be as simple as the Sim card. Sometimes for what ever reason it just doesn't work and getting a new one helps.

It works fine in an older phone.
You should still try a new sim. Little example of what happend to me
I gave my sister my old iPhone.phone was fully unlocked. Her sim worked in her T-Mobile phone but not in the iPhone. My brothers tmo sim would work . We picked her up a new sim, problem gone
Doesn't seem to make a difference. I think it's to do with the Band Frequencies as I have a UK phone. Would it be because I'm on ICS at all? I've flashed a TELUS radio too which didn't help.
Well you would only be able to get 2g in north america. But now that I think about it I believe telus 2g is cdma then if so theirs nothing you can do
OK I looked it up and telus 2g is cdma. Somebody had told me this on xda a while back but its been so long I forgot about it. Unfortunately you can't use your dhd on telus, though their are other GSM providers
Ah okay. That sucks but thanks for the definitive answer

[Q] Tried to Connect to 3G - Couldn't Connet

Hi all,
I recently bought a new Desire HD from E-bay. Its an Unlocked AT&T phone, I'm in India and I'm right now using Tata Docomo. I couldn't able to use 3G, (2G sucks).
I searched internet and forum and found that I can enable it by "Menu - Settings - Wireless And Networks - Mobile Networks - Set Preferred Mode to WCDMA or GSM/WCDMA auto" But the problem is, There is no menu called "set preferred mode" in my phone. I tried changing all the mode in *#*#4636#*#* even after that I'm not getting 3G. My mobile is not rooted and Its using 2.3.3 Android.
Hope someone help me.
Regards,
Praveen
Unable to connect to 3G
I'm also facing the issue with 3G connection.
I checked my sim card with other mobiles with the same apn settings. It works well in other mobiles.
But in my HTC-DHD still 3G is not able to connect.
My version is 2.3.3.
I also tried updating to "Andriod Revolution DHD 7.1 ROM" also. Still the same 3G issue persist.
My mobile model shows as "A9191" which is compatible in India 3G.
Can anybody help me for identifying the problem?
Hi
Inspire 4g i.e. ATT works on different network band for 3g which is not same as the 3g network band in india. Hence you will not be able to use 3g with your handset on any of mobile providers in india.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
That's correct. The Inspire 4G supports 850 Mhz and 1900 Mhz 3G bands, while all the network providers in India use 2100 Mhz.
AT&T Desire HD = Inspire 4G

however, would it be possible if I root the ROM?

The frequency band support of a phone depends on it's radio, and is hard-coded into it. Radio firmware can be changed, but the radio itself is not compatible. That's the problem. So even if you root the phone (which by itself does nothing other than grant you superuser access), unlock the bootloader and flash a different radio, it still won't work. Don't get the Inspire 4G. Even on eBay, it's low price may be tempting to many, but it's not worth it if it only supports 2G.

Read the above regarding radio. The ROM might show your phone as Desire HD A9191 in Settings->About, but the phone is actually Inspire 4G. If you got it from the US, and it has AT&T on the back, then it is Inspire 4G. There is no Desire HD for the US.

Working LTE on Switzerland

Starting this discussion to bring some light or current experiences. In my case, LTE doesn't work with either sunrise/ orange providers. In 1st case, after 1 hour with tech support they said there's nothing wrong with sim/subscription and it should work. The fact is even in areas with good 4G coverage I don't even see the LTE option in network settings. In 2nd case, Orange simply said "your phone is not supported..." !. They both work on the 1800 band, so it's ok, in fact, I was in Lisbon last week and with a vodaphone SIM I could see the LTE option, thought I couldn't ever get more than H+ as network signal. I' 've searched on forums and might be of current firmware release. Some post for similar issue advised to flash Romania 10D version. I have downloaded v 10F (germany) and willing to try it. Anyone to share suggestions or anyone from Switzerland with similar issue? Thanks all.
Current software version is E97510E-Eur-xxx and baseband APQ8064/MDM9X15M

Like i said in that post you quoted, the operator will release a small update(<10mb) in order to give acces to 4G.Orange Romania uses 2600mhz band.If orange Switzerland uses the same freq, then you can try to flash 10D from Orange Romania.
My phone came with 10C,4g not enabled. After 2 weeks or so, i received the update and i have LTE now.
You mean you received update from operator? What steps, contacts did you follow as they say LGOG isn't supported...

Solved . I can't believe so simple. After some googling I found a post (in german) I couldn't understand, but referenced some info about network defaults and it's values. Some bell ring and I looked for a ro.telephony.default_network parameter in build.prop. Just changed from "9" to "13", rebooted et voilá. .. many more options available under network settings, including LTE. Once chosen, it registered on 4G victory: ). You have to be rooted of course. I did the change using buildprop editor from ROMtoolbox Pro.
Also, it seemed to me that after flashing 10F, phone was (even) faster. I''ve run Antutu 3 times and always got around 17970 (with 10E never got more than 17150).
About the change - as usual do at your own risk.
