Yesterday i updated my one x to jelly bean.(OTA update)
(Australia Voda, S-on, CID- VODAP021, unlocked bootloader, rooted n CWM installed.)
like previous version (ICS), this version wasnt showing one x as USB storage when connected to pc.
so I went to CWM, mounted USB storage and formatted it from PC according to a post..!!!
and now my phone is not booting up.(that is obvious)
plz help me what should i do now?
Re-install the same rom u where using without a full wipe ....
Or where you still on stock rom ?
but how?
i wasnt on stock ROM.
yesterday only i updated it with jelly bean via OTA. and my hboot is now updated to 1.36.
(stock rom was ICS with hboot 1.12 )
and it was OTA update so i dont have that JB ROM now..!!
Can you boot into the bootloader and perform a factory reset ... might help, otherwise we have to find a more intense way to boot it up again !
---------- Post added at 11:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 AM ----------
And can you do these fastboot commands
Fastboot getvar version-main
and
Fastboot oem readcid
Post these results here please
still not booting up
yes i went in bootloader mode and did a factory reset and from recovery i cleared cache and everything.
version: 3.14.862.27
CID: VODAP021
I have boot.img and firmware.zip for my ROM.
for that lost ROM i have following
I was on jelly bean and exactly for that ROM i found followings after wide search.
boot.img
recovery.img
firmware.zip
is it useful??
I think you need to refresh the system, if the boot.img is untouched......
The recovery is the stock ? If yes ...it's pretty much useless to get the phone booted up.
The firmware is already been used, you have the updated hboot 1.36
I think it's best to go for a custom Rom now to at least get a working phone back and then find a solution to get back to stock
plz suggest any other way..
plz suggest me something. i dont want to use custom ROM. they create lot of problems.
cant i downgrade hboot and install ics again or something else but only official one...!!

You can search for a ics nandroid in the nandroid backup thread by matt95 in the general section ! Search for one with VODAPO021 and software number 2.17.862......restore the boot.img and restore the nandroid backup after a FULL WIPE in recovery .... Then you have a stock ics rom
Or when the 3.14 voda backup is there you can use that one !
Ow and i think i know the answer to your first post, ics has USB diskdrive function and JB uses a mtp file transfer protocol...it's different from ics (USB diskdrive) !
it helped me lil
thanks for replying for the first post.
and yes i got nandroid backup from the post u suggested.
but what about hboot? shudnt it downgraded to flash ics?
and what do u mean by full wipe? using CWM?
and once i can go back to original ics, i will get jellybean ota from vodafone.. rit?
sorry for so many questions. but plz answer to all...
thanks...!

1: Hboot can not be downgraded, but the backup will work fine
2: you are on custom recovery right, you have to wipe everything in there you can except the sd card ! Otherwise different stuff from a rom can interfere with the nandroid restore !
3: yes it should be , you have to flash the boot.img from the nandroid with fastboot commands, do a full wipe/factory reset in the custom recovery and restore the nandroid backup. After that you reboot the.phone to see if it works and then you have.to flash back the stock recovery so it can update the phone to JB properly !
more problems
thanks for quick responses...!! rit now i am downloading nandroid backup and will press thanks button as soon as i succeed...
just now i flashed ARHD 17. but i m facing 2 major problems.
1) sim card is not getting detected..
2) when i press lock switch HTC logo comes again and again.. home screen rarely..!
Certain you did a full wipe, also the caches and dalvik cache, system .... the whole shabbam ?
omg..! dalvik cache clear worked...
thank you sooooo much..
i cleared dalvik cache which i missed previously and everything is working. now i am not in hurry to go to stock rom..
wow..! u solved all my concerns.
thanks again..
No problem mate ! Have fun !!!

Hello all...My One X is in a mess. I tried to restore my nandroid back up but my phone keeps bootlooping. Ive wiped dalvik, fixed permissions, etc... and i even fastboot erase cache in cmd prompt. Still nothing. Im charging it now in recovery, but i have no other ROM in the memory to try and flash. I downloaded an RUU for O2 but, i cant even use that because i didnt update my phone prior to flashing ROMS, so the RUU is wrong and i cannot find the older version. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

How do i get another ROM on my phone if my phone wont boot up? I'm stuck. Keeps bootlooping. I cannot find any boot.img for my nandroid backup either.
Hold power + volm down for 10-15 seconds until you get to bootloader screen man... if it doesn't work then you're doing it wrong.

I know how to get into the bootloader. I dont have any other ROM on my phone to flash. I have my back up which i tried to restore but i'm stuck in a bootloop. I dont have the boot.img in my phone for the nandroid.
Just a taught....
I don't know if you changed or upgraded the rom after you did the nandroid backup but if you have a bootloop it means boot.img doesn't match the rom.zip
You also need to flash boot.img with the ADB tools that matches your nandroid backup.
If you are not sure anymore, wisest and easiest thing to do is flash a new custom rom.
I would recommend you >> ARHD rom as they have a Superwipe script as well to clear all fat but leave storage in tact.
Your storage you can reach with Clockworkmod/mounts and storage/Mount USB Storage to copy the rom.zip and superwipe.zip to it.
Keep in mind that you will lose all your personal data like contacts and sms etc, all in internal memory.

My HOX is stuck on the HTC logo.
I tried to install the ICJ rom based on Android 4.2.1 and followed the instructions. But failed...
I can still get into the recovery and reflash. My own backup didn't change anything so I also tried to download a nandroid from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
matching the information from this command.
$ ./fastboot.exe getvar version-main
version-main: 3.14.401.31
I have used 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' with the boot.img from whatever ROM/nandroid I tried to install. Both before and/or after the rom is flashed.
I have also tried to flash other roms like: CM10, CM10.1 and VipertX_2.6.0. I have tried with both CWM and TWRP.
The only thing I can think of that I have not tried is RUU, but those are hard to come by...
Anyone have any idea how to proceed with this? Or am I screwed?
Have you full wiped before flashing ROM?
Sent from my One X
Yes.
In CWM I did factory reset, wipe dalvik and format everything except sdcard. Everything I could find. Battery stats too.
Just in case I also copied everything from the sdcard and reformated that one too.
Just try another rom.
But do not forget to flash also the corresponded boot. Img.
Regards.

Can you recommend a rom with a higher success rate in these situations?
I've already tried three roms, my own nandroid and a stock nandroid.
do you tried stock by revolution?
Not yet. Downloading now...
BTW, which one do I install? odexed or de-odexed?
your nandroid restore failed ? did you flash the boot.img from the nandroid ? i recommend flashing the boot.img from original rom.zip
EDIT: Your phone might be affected by the read-only partition problem, caused by one of Trip's kernel/rom.
Yes, my nandroid failed. No error message, just stuck at boot logo when I reboot.
And yes, I always extract the boot.img from the rom/nandroid I want to install and use fastboot to flash it.
I've seen different suggestions on when to use fastboot. Some say before and some say after the installation of the rom. I've tried both variants with no luck...
I never downloaded Trips ROM. The download links were already removed when I started to look for roms.
How do I check if I have that problem? Shouldn't I have seen some read only error message in that case?
what i meant you shouldn't use boot.img from nandroid backups(they dont work for some reason), only use from rom.zip
Edit: they dont work for me (stock sense roms)

I just assumed I needed to do it the same way for the nandroids. Strangely enough i did'n use fastboot the first time I tried to restore from nandroid. That time it also failed....

Hi all,
As you can see from my post count I usually manage to solve any issues I have with the search funtion but this one has got complicated
I updated the firmware on my handset to upgrade the hboot, I know have 1.36.0000.
Since this though I'm having trouble booting any ROMs. Fastboot and CWM recovery are all fine but flashing boot.img and flashing the ROM from the sdcard I can't get past the HTC screen or sometimes the ROM's boot image. I also remember to erase cache after flashing the boot.img
I have a nandroid backup of a stock ROM that I've used to get the phone working but I'd like to know what's happening! I've tried this thread on getting out of boot loops but not had any luck.
If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it or if you need any other info please ask
I believe the handset has supercid but I used the info cidnum: ORANG001 3.16.61.6 anyway
I'm not very experienced with this so am hopeful I've missed something simple
Thanks in advance

Hey, thanks for the reply.
I've been over and over the process as I thought it might be something like that, but went through the instructions for each ROM step by step and wiped everything from CWM before flashing
I've done some more Googling and it looks like a lot of people have had problems with non-sense ROMs on hboot 1.36. I'm going to download a sense one and give that a try

Thanks for all the advice and help I'll try another rom. :good:
Need a small tut ?
start in the bootloader and flash the boot.img of the rom
unhook the cable and enter recovery (to avoid error messages)
in the recovery you do :
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
advanced - wipe dalvik cache
mounts & storage - Format cache,data,system
then you mount the sdcard as a mass storage device, hook on the cable and copy the rom.zip.
UNHOOK THE CABLE BEFORE INSTALLING THE ROM !
install the rom.zip and reboot the phone.
Good luck mate.....if you need help just ask here again :good:

CASE CLOSED !
Hi All,
Yesterday I took my Tegra 3 (International) One X back to Stock ICS using RUU. Everything went smoothly after I relocked my bootloader and ran the RUU.
Then I proceeded to get all the OTA updates until I had JellyBean (3.14.707.24) with no further updates pending. Yay for Jellybean! The next thing I did was install CWM recovery and perform a nandroid backup (which didn't seem to restore later, although was created correctly).
At this point, I thought I would try using a CM10 rom to remove sense and I went ahead and installed it, flashing over the boot.img as one normally would, but it wouldn't boot. I later discovered that I needed a modded-boot.img (for new hboot 1.36), but not before I tried running the 3.14.707.24 RUU.
This RUU got stuck at sending.... and did not finish. I didn't leave it more than 20 minutes and tried twice. I also tried my ICS RUU to no avail.
Right now I have no Rom installed (from what I can tell), but I have full fastboot access and would like to know how I should proceed:
1) should I install the CM10 rom again with proper modded-boot.img (for hboot 1.36) and see if it boots? That would at least get me functional.
2) should I try another copy of the RUU for 3.14.707.24 JB? (i found one)
3) should I try a rom like Android Revolution HD which is OK to work with my new HBoot 1.36?
I don't want to do too much too fast since I know what I've done, and used to be really into this. The phone has been sitting a while since I upgraded my device and I'd like to get it working for travelling purposes. I'd be happy with a Stock Rom at this point...
Thanks for any willingness to help me
Adam
Ofcourse if you want CM flash the boot.img that is made for CM..And then flash .zip file..And ofcourse after flashing use
"fastboot erase cache"
Sometimes if you dont clear cache your phone won't boot..

As you already said the old boot.img wont work with the new hboot. Just install cm10.1 as usually. Or any other JB Rom that is out there for the One X.

I'll try this later when I have the time. Thanks to everyone who responded. I was nervous I was on the bad road. Seems I'm in healthy shape, just lacking a rom.
Two more questions:
1) Can I still revert to stock? If so, how since RUU seems to get stuck at sending and not actually restore?
2) Any idea why when I tried to restore my stock nandroid backup just after installing CWM (which backed up successfully) it would restore but not boot (hung on One splash screen)? Should I have to wait a seriously long time for it to boot (I never used to have to?)
Thanks in advance!

2. I did not use the boot.img from the nandroid backup. I've never sent a separate boot.img when restoring from Nandroid. Is that something I need to do going forward/have been lucky not having to do until now? Perhaps the ICS builds of roms had a more similar boot.img?

hi guys,
i've read about a bunch people who had and solved the problem i'm having but no luck for me. please help!
i updated from cm10.1.3 to cm10.2 via Settings>About Phone>etc. (i.e., without flashing the new boot.img like i was supposed to).
i got caught in the boot animation for over an hour and realized i didn't flash the new boot.img
i tried to manually install cm10.2 like so:
fastboot erase cache, then fastboot flash boot boot.img, then fastboot erase cache again
wiped everything (Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache, format /system and format /data)
installed the cm10.2 and gapps zips
(i tried repeating the fastboot steps here as well, and also tried "Fix Permissions")
i'm still stuck in the boot animation and don't know what to try anymore i really want to get cm10.2 working. i could use your help
thanks!
EDIT: this might be useful. i tried installing another rom (paranoid android 3.99 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174855) and ended up getting stuck in its boot animation...
EDIT 2: this might be useful. i was able to manually install and successfully boot up cm10.1.2 following the above steps

i followed all of these steps without success over a dozen times already. following them, i can install android 4.2 roms (e.g., cm 10.1.3) but not 4.3 (e.g., cm10.2)... i figure there may be a clue in there somewhere...
my gapps are the 4.3 ones.
as for minimum requirements, the official cyanogenmod page (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Endeavoru_Info) doesn't mention anything but it might be out-of-date. i found this other thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450358) that mentions "datamedia" CWM as a requirement. getting a datamedia CWM for the HTC One X seemed hairy so i got the latest TWRP (2.6) and repeated the process again. still no luck
anymore suggestions?
thanks for the help btw

i've been trying to follow your latest advice but i can't seem to find the proper firmware needed to upgrade my HBOOT. i'm following your post here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221171) but the firmware-download post you link to doesn't provide any firmware for my cid (HTC__621) and googling is yielding confusing results (e.g., 600+MB files of dubious origins). do you know where i can get the needed firmware so i can update my HBOOT?
thanks!
Whats the outcome of
Fastboot getvar version-main

unfortunately not no backups whatsoever. stupid, i know.
Hmm can't find a usable nand either. Guess you are stuck with a older CM for now or try sentinel (hearing good things about it @E) aosp rom, or a sense 5 rom

hmmm. that blows. is the firmware i need not released yet or is it just really hard to find? if i installed a stock rom, would that update my HBOOT? (at which point, i could try cm10.2 again).
thanks!
Well a stock rom (3.14.751) can indeed update the phone (including stock recovery) if it's put indeed. Afaik 751 is at least at 1.36 hboot now ! Will look more tonight, no time anymore now

awesome! thanks! i'm a bit confused seeing as i thought i already had 3.14.751 but i'll wait for your update. thanks again for the help.
Yeah sometimes they push small updates including a hboot upgrade.
Example
3.14.401.27 = hboot 1.36
3.14.401.31 = hboot 1.39
So there could be a 3.14.751 firmware including a higher hboot.

oh ok. i get it now. thanks! at this point, we're pretty far out of the realm of what i know about custom roms so i'll wait and hope you find something with my fingers crossed.
Ah thant to a possible rescue.
You can always try to flash this firmware
http://arhd.onedroid.net/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC/HTC_One_X/709/
Those have the same main as you have
