I was hoping to buy a spare battery for an ATT S3 but I have a Tmobile credit. Are all the batteries the same? What about GSM vs CDMA?
Yes they are the same. If you go for an unofficial battery make sure its NFC capable

Think one would only really HAVE to worry about that if they actually use NFC on a pretty regular basis. I've had my S3 for a couple months now, and aside from a single Google Wallet purchase just to test it out, i haven't used it.

Thank You
Thanks for the help. I use NFC on my GNex for tags to change profiles and stuff at night but have never used it for payment. I use it enough that it's worth having on my phone. I hear the Note 2 has the antenna on the battery door? That seems smarter.
Anyways thanks again for the help.

I for one, could actually not care less I am at the limit of of non-caringness. There is not a single level of care below the level of care I am currently at regarding the lack of NFC on my phone.
IMO it's a gimmick with over-the-air security risks.
As far as android goes, it's probably the most unsecure system for smartphones (especially if you root it). I always have my wallet on me, so no need for NFC.
What's nfc? I'm jk yeah I could care less about it

I'd love to have it and look foward to it on a future phone, but it isn't going to take off within a year or 2 so I am OK waiting for it on my next phone instead.

Yeah basically nobody is using it yet, so it really doesn't matter if it has NFC or not. By the time businesses start accepting NFC payments there will be newer and better phones out.

Hey guys,
I tried searching but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. For those that couldnt wait and ordered s3 international cases, when you received your sprint version of the phone, did anything change? How do they fit? How about the battery cover? Feedback please...My phone hasn't shown up yet and I'm stressing that I wasted money on these battery covers etc. Sorry if question seems dumb but have nothing else to do since my phone isnt here ha. Thanks

It was a valid question dude. For example the galaxy nexus on Verizon was thicker than its sim card brother. Happens quite often from international sim phones to cdma network phones.

Yes I'm an idiot, I know. I bought it off eBay and realized too late.Question is, can I pay a lab to mod it for me or something? It's a Verizon. I heard it has a microSIM slot that's almost sealed shut but still existing. So it would probably just require reprogramming the frequencies. And I'll handle unscrewing the slot and inserting my SIM. Is this possible?

you cannot make a CDMA nexus work on GSM frequencies. totally different radios.
So best/only option would be to sell it and buy another?... crap...

Worse case scenario you can sell it. The good thing is it is a very desirable phone. The sim also is completely removable. Your thinking of the sprint version which has the weird sim situation.

So obviously the best solution is to get the correct phone, so I'm in favor of that, but it also got me thinking.
The Galaxy S3 has a workaround to use GSM SIM cards, is there something similar for the Galaxy Nexus?

No. The Verizon Galaxy S3 is a world phone that also supports GSM&HSPA on top of CDMA/LTE. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is not a world phone.

Hey guys.
Recently my beloved nexus' radios decided to quit working. I've tried everything to get them back but the harsh reality is that they just don't work anymore. I made a thread in the Q&A section to no avail.
Decided to go with the GS4 so I have an unused somewhat defective, and clearly used phone that is just sitting on my desk. When I went from my incredible to the gnex, I gave my incredible to one of the awesome devs that made that phone so much better. I'm thinking of doing it again because you guys are so great.
So if you are a dev, contact me and I'll so my best to give it to someone who can truly use it. Whether it be for parts or as a test flashing device, etc.
I can ship the phone free of charge through amazon since I work there so there really is no hassle involved.
Just to be clear, the radios (as far as I can tell) don't work, the charging port is a bit loose and sometimes hard to charge, and there are a few scratches on the screen and around the bezel. Other than that everything works. So perfect for a test device for your future roms.
I really want someone to USE the device and not just turn around and sell it, although I would be none the wiser. So let me know if you NEED it.
Thank you to this community (most of you ) and to all the hard working developers that got me thru the last few years. It's been fun.

I also have an extended battery that I can give to someone as well.
And this is a Verizon model, if that matters.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Well I have one already.
Although, it's the sprint variant.
You see, I don't make that much money, and I got this for christmas, sure it's great, but since it's limited to CDMA, I cannot be flexible with it at all.
It really does suck, I've been wanting to sell it and replace it with a GSM Galaxy Nexus, but no one will buy it, everyone already moved on to wanting the galaxy S4 or something similar.
So I definitely don't NEED it, but it would save me some money with me being able to change to Straight talk.
About the broken radios, I can try and repair it, buy a new charging port, buy a new antenna, etc etc, it'd be a fun project. I've already started some development for myself for the toroplus, and the GSM Galaxy nexus would allow me to fully mess with a semi working Ubuntu Touch OS.
And, if it wasn't given to me, which it probably won't, I actually have a cheap 12 dollar otterbox like case for the GSM Galaxy Nexus, I messed up on the order and got that instead of one for my model.

Friend of mine really wants to start developing for phones. And I told him a nexus phone would be the best. But he doesn't really have the money to buy one and neither do I. So he could really use it and he did some development for his old tablet and as far as I can see he's quite good at it. So I think he would be a real good person to have here on the forums.

I guess I should of been more specific on who I want to give the phone too.
It would help if you already had a thread in the developers section.
Like I said, I don't want to give this to someone just to have them sell it so the only insurance I have is making sure you are already a developer of some sort.

Yeah, one would think but I'm not willing to take a $40 gamble on it. I used to do repairs on phones and like the iPhone 4 for example you have to get the specific part if it's for GSM or cdma
