Anyone else notice this? When i'm using the S-Pen and i open the email the device just starts speaking the emails. I have not been able to find a way to disable this. It only happens when the S-pen is out though

Interesting... Had a feeling that might be the cause but wasn't sure. I'm not crazy though lol that is good

Hey, I've been thinking of switching from the Evo to the Epic. I've been researching alot on the phone and it's problems. Will rooting the phone and removing Touchwiz get rid of the gps problems, the lack of email notifications, and the unresponsive back button? Or will I have to flash a new rom to get rid of that? And can anyone with an Otterbox post pics and how they like the case? Thanks for the help.
Rooting the phone won't add any capabilities other than increased permissions (namely root). You'll need to flash a new rom to really change anything.
I don't believe that any of the replacement roms make the gps location more accurate.
What lack of email notification are you having?
i saw on a couple video reviews that any email account other than gmail doesnt refresh itself or doesnt notify you when it does. that could very well be a settings thing, but the guy doing to review isnt dumb so i figured that it wasnt a settings thing.

yeah, the email app is not super reliable.... it will usually check and retrieve your emails, but not all the time. but there are 2 good email apps you can download from the market, K9 mail and Maildroid.... those are said to work much better than the stock email app. and yeah, the native Gmail app works perfectly.
i guess i could learn to get used that. but if im getting the phone, i need the front buttons to work and the gps too. the gps on the evo is great, always locks on and it doesnt take too much time
Ive been looking, and asking the twitter windows phone accounts but seeing as i never get replies im wondering if im the only one..im a field supervisor for underground construction and i often get previous work videos in email that i share with my Foreman's quickly for info...and i HATE that i cant toggle the toasts off for texts. i dont want guys from work reading any of my texts (and yes i could fire up my laptop in my truck, but time is money and with the phone in my pocket its quick to call them over, have a look and back at 'er)....this is becoming a big deal for me. anyone else not like that we have no control on this? i know in the grand scheme of things lacking this may not be big, but its starting to get that way from my point of view. what do you all think?

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but you could enable the power saving mode. This disables toast and push notifications. But you should be aware that it also disables all automatic checking for e-mails as well.

hey thanks, ya not what im looking for but actually a nice work around for now. really not impressed that there isn't a toggle or any kind of control over them...ill definitely give that a shot though
*Edit: The 12/3 Gmail update seems to have fixed this issue.

I've been having problems with Gmail on this phone. Specifically, the biggest one is probably that when I view an email and then swipe left or right to go forward or back to the next or last email in the box often it will just get stuck loading that email infinitely.
I noticed if I turn the phone sideways and then back up again it fixes it, but it's still really annoying.
I have Ice Cream Sandwich running the lastest Gmail on my HP Touchpad and have not noticed this issue so I don't know if it's a Jellybean thing or something particular to this phone or what.
Ideally I'd like it to be fixed and just use Gmail but I'm open to other mail programs I guess. I tried a few and didn't care much for them though.
has anyone else confirmed this problem? this would be a problem for me when i get my baby lol
I don't normally swipe to get to the next email, I can confirm that my note 2 does suffer from this problem.
I usually just hit the back button and find the next mail. No huge inconvenience for me, but others may feel different.
I figure el Goog will fix it soon enough.

gmail issues
Oh how I would love to be able to delete permanently trash from the smartphone.
+1, same issue here
I switched over to the standard email app so I could use the "draw things with the s-pen in email" feature. I'd recommend that but sadly no one can see the pictures I draw when they receive them. Just blank squares

I don't have that problem... I wish I could screen record... Damn that Samsung for slacking!

Same problem with me and can't find way to fix it
I do not have this problem - stock and not rooted
It seems to happen to me only coming from or going to the newest email. If I start swipe scrolling from anywhere else in the list they load fine.

I have the same problem too.
I had an issue with Gmail not sending attachments. Especially embarrassing when sending an inquiry for a job and attaching a resume. Then they don't get the attachment. Yahoo sends them just fine for me.
Receive a Gmail app update, the problem solved.

The new gmail update is pretty damn nice. Love the fact I didnt have to load a rom to get it!

I don't have this problem. Rooted running Jedi X.

Odd, because the dev listed he would fix paper artist in the next update, amongst other things. Dont you find it funny they say "no known issues" and then release updates to fix bugs?

Love this phone and not playing into the it has lag complaint. I do use Apex launcher so maybe that resolves most reported lag issues, not sure but I know my phone is just about flawless with 2 small software complaints I have.
First issue is that when it connects to my Ford Sync I get a message asking to allow Sync to access messages. The Ford Sync is a joke and I really hate having my message sync'd up. I wish I would just say no and never ask again but there is only a yes and never ask again. Can't seem to disable this from the Ford Sync. Anyone know how to disable this feature??
Other gripe is that there is no "unread" button when viewing an email. I have to get into a menu for that option which is a pain as I read a lot of messages when I'm out of the office but like to mark them as unread so I can address them when back in the office. This is just a bad software design on LGs part and realize there is nothing that can be done other than an alternate mail client but i hate to lose the other integrations so I'll live with it. Maybe LG will read this post and a light bulb will go off...
So other than these two things I absolutely love this phone. I came from a S4 and no comparison, so happy to be done with the stupid physical home button! Love the knock knock to turn on/off!

As far as sync goes you have to use the settings in sync to stop it. I had a ford with sync and it was a headache. It would always do bizarre stuff even if you changed the settings. My KIA doesn't have this issue so it's a sync thing for storing the messages.

Hello. Just picked up my Note 10 Plus.
I have noticed in my text messages that some words are underlined, like times, or the word tomorrow. When I click on it, it gives a shortcut to set an alarm. How can I remove this feature? I'd rather not see underlined words in my messages.
Thanks!
Been trying to figure this one out for days now. Sadly no dice thus far.
I didn't have this issue on my S9 Plus. Hoping someone finds a solution soon.
Would it have anything to do with SwiftKey app I'm using? But I used that on the S9 Plus without the issue.
im using swiftkey and dont see this. i use samsung kb and dont see this. did you install from an old backup? maybe you synced over something...
Nothing to do with back ups or keyboards.
It's tied to the calendar so if I say "hey let's hang out tomorrow", then tomorrow becomes a link that takes you to the calendar to possibly put in a reminder or appointment.
Solution?
Please tell me someone found a solution for this issue with words being underlined.
I am having the same problem and cannot figure it out
