Hello. Just picked up my Note 10 Plus.
I have noticed in my text messages that some words are underlined, like times, or the word tomorrow. When I click on it, it gives a shortcut to set an alarm. How can I remove this feature? I'd rather not see underlined words in my messages.
Thanks!
Been trying to figure this one out for days now. Sadly no dice thus far.
I didn't have this issue on my S9 Plus. Hoping someone finds a solution soon.
Would it have anything to do with SwiftKey app I'm using? But I used that on the S9 Plus without the issue.
im using swiftkey and dont see this. i use samsung kb and dont see this. did you install from an old backup? maybe you synced over something...
Nothing to do with back ups or keyboards.
It's tied to the calendar so if I say "hey let's hang out tomorrow", then tomorrow becomes a link that takes you to the calendar to possibly put in a reminder or appointment.
Solution?
Please tell me someone found a solution for this issue with words being underlined.
I am having the same problem and cannot figure it out

Ok, just a quick question as not sure if its something I'm doing (or not doing) or if a hack is the way to go
Phone = TP2
On the "Mail" screen of the TP2 interface you have the envelope and your mails you can see which you can 'flick' through. To open you tap on the mail you want. Seems simple enough
However, I'm wondering is there a way you can DELETE an email as your flicking through them without having to open the mail up (by tapping on it) then going to the "Menu" and choosing delete there.
Sometimes you can see (e.g Junk Mail) an email in the TF3D interface in the fancy 'envelope' and just want to ditch it there and then. Anyone know if thats possible?
Many thanks
Andy
This has been asked before. In this forum and I've also had the same issue on my Raphael. I still haven't seen a solution unfortunately, Would be great as I receive a spam mail every 30 minutes or so and I'd like to delete them quickly ...
Damn it. ok, well you never know I guess, someone may find a solution.
If anyone has an ideas, it would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Andy
I know ... I've been cursing on this for around 1.5 years now ... You just have to live with it I guess ...
ok, i just got this phone yesterday, and its AWESOME. Just one minor but VERY annoying problem tho, whenever i send out text messages, it will be displayed in the correct time, but whenever i recieve text messages, it will be 4 hours before the actual time... It seems its been set to a different time zone or something... Anyways, does anyone know how to fix that?..
Thanks.
oh and is there anyway i can find out which rom/country my phone is currently using? I bought it unlocked from a local chinese retailer, and supposedly they get all their stuff from hongkong, is there anyway to check?
anyone? bump
it depends where is the person which sends you the sms, as a matter of fact if the person is in paris ou you are in London, then the message will be displayed with GMT -1

I had the same issue, I apply the summer time fix followed by the df_timestamp_fix.cab I attached. (Thanks to the author, it's floating in the forums if you search for sms timestamp or something along those lines if your curious to know what the cab does)
I am not sure the summer time is needed but it work for me.
The issue is with a "Trust time zone" Reg key. From what I understand, your provider applies the GMT -4 and your phone do it a second time, hence the time difference.
Hope this work as well as on my phone
wow if i was anywhere near u i would go over and kiss u, thanks a lot man! I didn't know the correct term for it was "timestamp" and i been searching all over the forum and came up with nothing. Thanks again! gonna go try it now
the unfixable unread count is even worse.
at the moment i have 8 unread SMS messages i cannot make go away. even when i use a CAB to handle this things go back to the way they were after the next text comes in.

I haven't had that problem at all and I do alot of texting! Sometimes it'll have a 1 by it when I though I read all my messages but I really didn't.
Did you try disabling touchflo from today screen in settings rebooting and then re-enabling it?

This is annoying, I use to have it on stock rom with my TP1, the genius cook made some work around work so I haven`t been bothered since...

I only had that prob once on my TyTn2... or was it my Prophet...? Anyway, try this file. It worked for me before.
Not working.... Just tried it.
this was exactly what i was looking for.
thanks SO MUCH.
EDIT: doesnt work.
Try this
Start/Settings/Text Messaging Change to Classic and X out.
Go into your text messages and you will probably find the culprit in bold. Once you open it, that should reset the counter. Go back and switch to threaded.
First, make sure local time setting is correct (as above posts)
If still persist, try reghack; open phm regedit or resco or else, navigate to HKCU/System/State/sms/Unread, change the Count value to 0. Exit regedit, press power button to suspend your device, wait 5 secs, then softreset. Please try and feedback.
The timestamp_fix.cab did not work for me. The MTS_RecvTimeStamp.cab did the trick.

This didn't work either for me.
I noticed if HTC Messeging is installed, the cabs will work, if its not, they wont work.
But HTC msging is slow.
anyone with a solution for the timestamp issue?

Hi all,
I've searched the forums up and down for this, but couldn't find an answer anywhere.
Isn't there a way to assign a different sound to a particular contact's incoming SMS message event? I looked all over every "Edit Contact" option I could find, but no joy.
Before I got my Verizon TP2 a couple months ago, I was using an old Moto Q on WinMo 5 which had this feature. So I'm surprised I don't see a way to do this here. I'm running everything stock.
I hope I'm not missing something brutally obvious. Am I?
Thanks for reading.
Unfortunately I don't believe this is something WM can do by default. I've checked all of the sounds/notification settings and contact settings and don't see anything for custom alert sounds by contact. I too would love this feature, but unless there's some mod out there that can do it I don't think we'll be able to.
I know this software http://www.watchflag.com/home.do but I never tryed because I don't like programs that runs in background.. If you try it let me know!
Some of the old versions of Watchflag ran continuously but that's not true anymore. It launches when you get a message, checks to see if it should alert and then shuts down. Maybe that's what you meant -- just wanted to clarify!

Oh thank you! ..I'll give a try!
I was wondering if anyone is getting this same error, from time to time a contact or two from my favorite contacts tab just disappear. It gets quite frustrating and I'm not sure if it's my method of syncing or something else. I'm currently using NuevaSync to sync my Gcal and Gmail contacts. What's everyone else using if they're trying to sync multiple Gcals/contacts?
Very late to this thread, but yes...having the exact same problem. Sense 2.5/Nuevasync/Google Contacts. Favorite people keep going away. Did you ever figure this one out?
Same issue here... I've had this issue for a long time now. I've Googled the heck out of it, found lots of people complaining but no one offering up any explanation or solution.
i had a contact just dissapear. ive had the issue a few times before too. i just readd the person and it normally doesnt wig out again for quite a while.
It's like a game of "whack-a-mole" for me. One disappears, I re-add them, then two more disappear. Every day.
In addition to vanishing contacts, sometimes it will re-arrange my contacts. It will also randomly change information sometimes too. Once, it renamed one of my contacts to "Customer Care." All the other info -- picture, phone number, e-mail -- were unchanged. My guess is it is some sort of Activesync issue, but I don't know.
i had another one disappear today. weird.
I could be way off-base here, but it seems like it happens when I get an email from one of my Favorite contacts.
UPDATE: I've found a fix for this issue - AWESOME!
Just go to the Android Market and install the SMS Time Fix app by Matt Precious.
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-mattprecious-smsfix-pAFq.aspx
It works perfectly, and updates the time stamp on all messages to relfect PHONE time and not network time. HINT: Make sure the "Last Resort" option is checked in the settings and offset is set to zero. This little app now makes the Evo Messages app usable. Finally...
Hope this is helpful info
So, I've been reading and experiencing several issues with SMS timestamps on the Evo 4G.
It seems there are three distinct issues with SMS timestamps on the the Evo and I believe they all have the same root cause.
Issue 1: When roaming texts are received with the wrong time stamp, offset by several hours (typically 4 or 5 hours off). This causes them to not be threaded in the conversation correctly. Very annoying.
Issue 2: When receiving SMS messages on any network (Sprint or Roaming), the time stamp is off by an hour. The result is the same as Issue 1, but a less extreme example.
Issue 3: When texting back and forth in quick succession, SMS messages are not logged in the order in which they are received, and received text messages ALWAYS appear before sent text messages if they are sent during the same minute, regardless of which one was actually sent first. This is also very annoying.
I believe the root cause is that the native Sense UI messaging app is using the timestamp of the tower of each SMS rather than using the time stored on the phone. To prove this, if you use Handcent and set it to use "phone time" and ignore the tower time, it works perfectly. The thing is that I don't want to use Handcent and I want to use the native app. Is there a setting that can be tweaked to fix this? Has anyone talked to HTC or Sprint about the issue and is a fix in the works?
For such a major problem, I am surprised more people haven't come forward. It's a pretty significant bug...
Thanks,
Matt_TX.

I agree and its getting really annoying since it causes me to miss texts.
NM, too easy
Has anyone talked to Sprint or HTC about it? I am sure there HAS to be a fix in the works. The good news is that the native Froyo messaging app does not do this (as far as I can tell). I used a Nexus One on T-mobile and it doesn't occur. It appears to be using the phone's timestamp, as it should...
As long as HTC don't apply their "logic" (or lack thereof) over Froyo, it should be fixed soon.
I also can't believe that Sense UI stops the user from having more than one Exchange account. Android 2.1 (Eclair) does this by default. Why on earth would they remove it?
Anyway, back on topic... Please please post with your thoughts and discoveries around the SMS timestamp issue.
Thanks!
How is this related to development?

I'm not sure what you mean by "NM, too easy". Can you explain or provide any insight. Please help if you can. For those of us with this issue, it's REALLY annoying. I apologize if the question is dumb and there is an easy fix.
I realize that some of you may not feel that it is related to development, but I disagree. For those geniuses out there that make ROM's, maybe there is some way to fix this with a setting or minor change in the Sense UI messaging app...
Additionally, there is no need to berate someone that's genuinely asking for help. It's obvious that this forum gets the most traffic, and it's obvious that the smartest "Evo User" minds are located here. I don't think there is any harm in reaching out for help, isn't that the purpose behind these forums
The samething was happening to me last night.

Agreed. If its not happening with Handcent nor the AOSP apk, then its a direct HTC issue.
General Discussion. Also, probably not really that urgent.
./agree on all poins with OP.
I posted in Q&A about this same issues, with no replies 8(.
Anyway, I thought it was related to the modified prl that I installed. However it would do it even when I was on the stock prl.
Long story short, I called sprint and said I was having the issue. They said they were going to refresh something on their side, to wait 20 mins then power cycle the phone.
Did that and to my surprise it worked! Then yesterday I re-flashed a custom rom and the sms timestaps went all wonky. /sigh
suck it up and use handcent or chomp, they are overall better apps, just not as nice of a UI.
this has been a problem for quite some time. I've looked everywhere for a solution. This was a problem on winmo phones as well.
I switched to handcent and never looked back. Once you get it all customized, it's awesome.

look at this guy.
handcent didn't work on my froyo rom, not sure about chomp, didn't try it.
at work i always have this problem, texts are recieved 5 hours into the future, whereas the ones i send are the correct time. occasionally ones they send are the correct time so i have to scroll up and down and it is very annoying.
not a fan of handcents pop up notifications, i guess i could turn em off.
guess i'll just 'suck it up'
