[Q] USB Problem - HTC One X

Hi Guys
I have a big problem with my HOX. I am on Android Revolution HD 9.8 but did not flash the boot.img! The USB-Connection does not work. Its not the cable and not the pc. Even in bootloader i have no connection. the phone loads, but i does not show up at all in the device manager. i would like to flash a new rom, but i have to flash a new firmware.zip, because of my cid. what can i do now? boot.img is not flashable in cwm, right?

Check if you have these:
-Htc drivers
-Java sdk
-Phone in fastboot mode

OK i did reinstall the htc sync software, and updated to JDK 7u10 x86 and x64, startet phone into fastboot mode and only got <waiting for device>
Have this problem since i flashed the new rom.

Sometimes htc sync causes problems with fastboot. Try uninstalling it and install only pure htc drivers.

Ok, did that too, but nothing changed... i really think i have to somehow flash a stock rom, but i did not find any. only RUUs, but if usb doesnt work... bad

I checked with USBDView but the HOX is not found. No entry about the HOX, whatever USB-Port I use...

Are you sure phone screen says:
"fastboot usb"?

Yes i am. Whereever i connect the hox i dont get a connection. Not in fastboot or in Rom mode

Are you telling you actually installed both 32bit and 64bit versions?

Yes sure. If the app is x86 it uses the x86 version If 64 the x64

Has noone an idea?

I checked the same as above at my office-pc. This is where i rooted the phone and flashed the custom rom. In USBDView i see, that a htc android device is installed and was once connected. But now no htc-device gets connected. Fastboot changes to Fasboot USB if i connect the USB-Cable. So something is happening, but i think only on the phone, not on the computer...

So now I did some new checks:
Tried with linux -> does not connect
My idea:
Flashing a stock rom, which does not require a custom boot.img. If someone could find one? USB worked before i flashed the new rom. So if i can flash back, it should work again, right?
All on ICS, CID:
x.xx.166.x - Vodafone CH-DE (Switzerland - Germany) - VODAP110

Check the nandroid backup thread in the general section ! Maybe there is one for you !

Nope, there isn't. But I am now doing the following:
- Extracting the Rom from the RUU (via %temp%)
- Uploading to Dropbox
- Downloading from Dropbox to HOX (now)
- Flashing the ROM
Hope this works

Airdroid would be quicker than using your internet upload link, well, for most!

Yes, if the WLAN is in the same Subnet as the LAN . But here i can not access WLAN from LAN and otherwise. And i have a 3G flaterate, so i use it.

Fair enough!

Ok, now i tried to flash the unchanged rom but i only get:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
What do i do wrong?

I'm not sure you can flash that thing from CWM.

[Q] 2.3 Problem, please help!

So, my Desire HD popped up with the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread update last night, and i downloaded it. After downloaded, i plugged it into my charger, and startet the softwareupdate. But instead of updating, the phone rebooted with this screen.
Edit: I'm unable to post the picture since i have less than 8 posts, but you can see the picture by googling Android exclamation.
How do i get out of it? Does anyone know?
- Thanks!
Doesn't anyone know a solution for this?
Did you delete any system apps?
I had this problem because I rooted and had S-OFF on 1.32.
That verification error is coming up on boot up because you have S-OFF like I did.
The solution is to flash your phone with the 2.3 Gingerbread RUU which is the same as the OTA.
You can then use Gingerbreak .apk to get rooted in Gingerbread I did this and it worked day before yesterday when I had this exact same issue.

Could you maybe explain it a little more detailed?
Where do i download the Gungerbread RUU, and how do i install it when i'm unable to boot?
1. press power and vol- and go to bootloader download the ruu 1.32 from here and run exe on your computer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824357
2. make a temp root with visionary
3. Download radio s-off tool from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537 and make a stock cid which is HTC_001 and leave your phone s-off in case tou wouldn't like 2.3.3
4. Restart phone and check for update
I'm not at home at the moment but there are threads here with the download links to the official 2.3 RUU. You want the .exe 2.3 RUU make sure you have usb debugging enabled and attach your DHD to pc and run the 2.3 RUU .exe program to update its easy to follow the program, once done use Gingerbreak .apk to root as I did.

Downloading WWE 1.32.405 Atm.
And my phone already has S-OFF, or has it been removed because of this problem?

I tried following your instructions, but it said that there was a error with the connection between the phone and the computer.
USB Debugging was enabled when i started the gingerbread update, shouldn't it still be on? If not, how do i enable it when i'm unable to boot my phone?

An alternative is you can flash a prerooted gingerbread stock through clockworkmod recovery. Though you would have to flash the radios seperatly if you wanted those as well

I was the last time i was able to use my device.
The computer doesn't seem to know that the device is connected.
I send an email to HTC, waiting for response.
You need to make sure you have connectivity between pc and DHD. Put your DHD in disc drive mode does your pc open the SD card ?
Also have HTC Sync installed on pc. I had an issue like this on win 7 64bit ultimate, downloaded and installed android sdk, then from android sdk downloaded 'platform-tools' this has the same adb inside.
If your HTC Sync is syncing you have connectivity. Just have your DHD in usb debugging and charge only when running the RUU .exe

How do i put the phone in disc drive mode when i'm stuck on the android warning screen?
Take the battery out and switch on, it should boot up to normal stock 1.32 or whatever you were on before trying to update via OTA. Then check connectivity between pc and DHD. Have usb debugging enabled and try syncing with HTC sync. Then you can see from that if you have any connection problems. If all ok proceed with running 2.3 RUU .exe on pc while DHD is connected in charge only mode.

[Q] Help Please - Bricked One X

Another thread like this... I know. Sorry.
In an attempt to load the modified battery management file, I've managed to brick my One X. It just sits at the 'HTC quietly brilliant' screen and that's as far as it gets.
I can boot into bootloader and then use fastboot, which in turn has allowed me to load the Clockwork Touch Recovery. I can reboot and load this recovery fine. But whatever I try, I cannot get it to boot back into the normal OS.
I cannot mount the phone on my laptop as that's not an option (that I'm aware of) in the One X recovery mode. Therefore I cannot copy across a new ROM to the SDCard and reload via 'Update.zip'.
Battery is healthy, everything was working prior to this failed attempt at being clever.
What other options are there to re-load a ROM and get the device working again?
Thanks in advance for your help
Rob

Thank you, very much. A question, where it says:
'After that download RUU specific to your handset and run. This should install fine and return you to stock.'
I've downloaded what I think is right and I have a .zip file, how can I get this onto the device to install it?
It is mentioned in the instructions. You will need to use adb.
Edit: I presume that you have fast boot and adb installed on your PC. If not you will need to do that for your device to be recognized

That's the trouble, I can't. Because there is no USB access in recovery, ADB doesn't work.
Unless I'm missing something obvious?

No adb.
Boot into fastboot on mobile and run the RUU from pc.
You need to have your bootloader locked before the RUU can run.
fastboot oem lock
Also did you try a factory reset in recovery and then tried to reboot into system

Thanks guys, sorry for the slow reply...
I do indeed have ADP/Fastboot on my computer still.
Where can I download the stock RUU? I can find a .zip version from this very forum, but how do I install that if I can't transfer it? I had assumed there would be a .exe version to run from my computer. Is there?
skywalker1970 - I did indeed try that, thanks.
Thanks again

Flash boot without fastboot

Hello guys,
I have recently upgraded to Windows 8 and have installed all the drivers, java, google drives and so on but my phone will not connect to my computer. Alot of the ROM's I use are starting to use new boot.img's. Is there anyway to flash boot a boot.img without using fastboot. Right now I am using AOKP with sickernal 2.2. Runkin has his own boot.img that is installed with his rom that runs better than CM10's sickkernal. I can use Runkin's boot.img becuase I can not flash it in fastboot with my computer.
Any help would be awesome!
No there's no any other way since your phone is unable to connect your computer.......

Try to uninstall all the existing HTC drivers + HTC Sync Manager and do a cleanup with CCleaner. Then download the latest HTC Sync Manager and install it. It will install the drivers as well. After that you can safely remove/uninstall HTC Sync Manager, but do not uninstall the app called "HTC Driver Installer".
The above method works flawlessly on Win8 64b. I don't know if there is a simpler way to do it, like installing the driver only(because i wasn't able to find a driver only installation kit for One V and Win8)...

[Q] Virgin Mobile HTC One V CDMA pacman Rom help needed.

I have a Virgin Mobile HTC One V and had been using the pacman 19.3 ROM. Except for a few minor issues, I haven't upgraded to subsequent builds as they have all had major issues that would affect my use of the phone. However, pacman 22.1 was just released and it seems that everything is working. I downloaded the ROM and every time it sticks on the HTC unlock boot screen when booting into the ROM. At first I simply wiped dalvik/cache, and that did not work. Then I reverted back to pacman 19.3. I've tried many combinations of installing this ROM, but all have the same result, including wiping everything prior to install. I get the same HTC boot screen every time. Can anyone help me get past this?

I was directed to that eing the problem last night, and the answer is no I did not...however, I can't get the boot.img (which is a part of the ROM) to install using ADB. Even though I have HTC Sync Manager installed, and the driver installed and functioning (I can transfer stuff to my phone from my computer with no problems and it shows up in Windows Explorer) for some reason when I issue the ADB command it can't locate the phone.

No, it only will show a pop up error on my PC about the device, and when I check the device manager it shows the driver being a problem. But when I leave fastboot mode, the driver becomes fine.
I kept doing this over and over and finally one time it worked. I didn't do anything different, but I got it to work whcih was my goal. Sorry I can't offer any helpful hints and thanks for the replies!

Adb is used when phone powered on normally or in recovery mode. To flash recovery, we usually use fastboot mode.
What state is your phone? Meaning if boot unlocked, s-on, etc.

The phone is unlocked an rooted but is stuck in hboot (it just keeps rebooting), I can access fastboot mode and when I connect the phone it changes to "fastboot usb" and the PC detects it as "android 1.0", I tried installing the drivers from the google SDK, the PDANet drivers and the HTC Sync program with no luck, it just detects it as "My HTC" (only when installing the HTC Sync program) and ADB doesn't detect it that way.
