3G for first time at my office today!!!!!

Hello all, just thought Id share some news. I have never received 3g at my office in Bellflower CA before today. Well it was actually a combo of H and 3G. I almost lost it, I think I told allot of people who didn't care but I was stoked.
All this shows me is that they are finally expanding what we've been waiting for.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention I just installed radio 1.48 (just havent updated my sig yet) The reason I mention this is my bosses 8525 has 1.47 and side by side mine was on H and his was on E.

I have gotten it a few times briefly at my home in Signal Hill also the last few months.

Sorry to hear that..too bad..I have full bar 3G here in San Jose. Even last time I was in Modesto, CA...the whole Modesto area has 3G too..I think the LA area really need some new towers.

In Aus over 98% of the population has HSDPA.

I get in At home In Long Beach, and at work finaly in Torrance. FYI only the people that have upgraded there roms can get HSPDA. Anyone running W5 cannot yet access it. Att is aware so thats why they are in such a rush to get the W6 version out. I love to use my phone as a modem to connect to the net. I get 10mbps my speed is real good. I get about 123kbps downloads.

I was just in the LA area for the last 4 Days and cannot believe the good 3G coverage I got. In Hotel rooms, along the coast and even in Imperial Beach. Very strong 3G signal. I live in the Phoenix area and loose 3G quite often.

Why is this thread in the WM6 section?

Actually the whole US sucks in terms of technology when you compare them with other nations. Just take the DSL for example, ppl in Japan can have DSL for like 40Mbps, here..the max we could get is probably 8Mbps.

was on hold w/ att. apparently theyre spending 18 MIL a day putting up new towers.. - that would explain where my money has been going for the past ten years.. but at least i get awesome coverage.

i live in Wilmington, CA.. the Us of course.. this would never occur to me as a place to establish 3G, but last nite i was out and it was there.. wake up this morning.. still there awesome... no complaints here.. hopefully they aren't just testing it and then just take it off

Next G has coverage almost everywhere ive needed it.....Give 3 the flick.....they are crap in australia.......

Yar dude.. Here in South Africa we only have 384k, 512k, 1mb and 4mb.. Thats it.. You guys must be lucky!! We are at the bottom of the DSL speed list!! And our cost is HIGH!!! Way HIGH!!!

from what i understand carriers dont buy towers, they lease them. and 18 mil a day just sounds outrageous.

No, a lot of the big carriers have there own towers, the little ones lease. Not always the case, but for the most part.

Yup, here in East Texas, Cingular publicly dropped their leased towers, which in turn affected coverage. They claim to be building their own towers. Needless to say, a lot of people are pissed around here.

i'm in central texas and 2 years ago i had a tri-band phone 900/1700/1800, used to work fine on cingular till all of a sudden could no longer accept calls, i could only make calls..
After calling them for like a week i finally got the scoop. They were in the process of replacing all their 900mhz towers which were shared and were putting up they're own 850mhz towers.
anyways i now get HSDPA reception in my toilet!!! All hail the throne!! (need to get some padded seats on that thing...)

I was a bit shocked KC wasn't announced from the start. I knew or wouldn't take long. I bet they already have lte in Overland Park so they could test the new phones. Plus, the improved cdma will be great. I have horrible signal in my neighborhood(Briarcliff). The airrave helps a lot. Tye funny thing is they mentioned KU vs MU in the press release even though we all know that the chances of playing anymore are slim. Anyways, it is a pointless rivalry. KU sucks just like Johnson County and the rest of those cake eaters. Lol

I was told a while back it was kind of going to rollout in reverse meaning markets that don't have 4g would get the LTE first then the markets with WiMax would follow. ...in New Jersey now and the 3g has been great here. I haven't tested 4g much since I have Fios in the house..edit..I would imagine the major cities would have to follow very soon after because they need that advertising money...meaning L.A. and New York probably wont be far behind. Jersey represent!

When Hess anounced lte first like 5 months ago when they said that they would be going to lte they would start with areas that never got wimax and what do you know sprint fuxing lies again .... no phoenix on the list ...... but all cities with wimax .... stupid back asswards sprint ...you would think when they were testing lte it was phoenix they tested in with clear ....but don't announce it as one of their first cities ...6th largest in nation always screwed

there's a network vision site in north jersey right now. just googled it... Branchburg, NJ. about an hour drive for me.. but i've been considering making the drive to test it.

I'm fortunate to be in an area where sprint has great coverage, and speeds are really good. I'm usually getting bandwidth test speeds of over 1 mb/s, and sometimes even crest the 2 mb/s mark in the evenings. I rarely use 4G, one because my desk is on the other side of the building from the tower, so the signal barely makes it to my desk, and at home, it isn't all that great, either. I'll be curious to see if my data speeds improve on 3G once the NV initiative hits my neck of the woods. I'm also one of the first metros listed to get LTE when it comes out, but will wait to get a compatiable device until the Galaxy Nexus hits CL/Ebay for a decent discount.

Sprint 4GLTE arrives July 15th

Summer is here and so is the first wave of Sprint LTE markets. Today, CEO, Dan Hesse, announced that Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Kansas City and San Antonio will have LTE launched on July 15th. Additional market launches in 2012 will be announced later this year. Sprints network needs a lot of work I hope these upgrades end up being worth the wait. The last thing the US market needs is something bad happening to Sprint. T-Mobile is already kind of iffy.

As usual, for folks in other cities the best informed speculation about future rollouts is to be found at S4GRU.

What the hell!! Stillwater, Oklahoma has nearly 50,000 people! Why would we not be first to get LTE? This is a bad move by Sprint. I know at LEAST a couple people that might switch carriers because of this, so they'll be out 10's of dollars. You should all demand Stillwater be fist on the list. It's important to you.

I'm done with Sprint. Way too little, way too late. The second my Verizon S3 arrives, i'm porting my number over and buying out the rest of my Sprint contract. It's worth it to me to switch to a carrier that has.. oh let's see... data and voice! Not to mention already having an LTE network in place already and growing all the time.

I am confused why people are upset, they announced these cities months ago. How is this such a surprise. I live in Baltimore we where added to the first round, but won't be lit up on july 15th. My 3g is pretty good in Baltimore so i can wait a month or two.

We have over 8 million in NYC and we still got nothing to show for it, but i'm glad KC and San Antonio are taken care of first.

The Sprint LTE rollout schedule is being tracked here. They plan to cover over 130M population with LTE by end of this year and the entire Sprint footprint by 2013. Then they'll start rolling out LTE on 800Mhz which will significantly increase coverage.

It's not official because those are just test towers that Sprint is keeping lit, but it gives us NYC guys some hope that LTE will fully roll out sooner than later. Since I've been checking, the area around Bryant park popped up, and both Bronx/Harlem coverage seems to have grown. I've had the Note II since launch and this thing is just a beast, the only thing holding it back is LTE coverage. When it's hooked up to WiFi it absolutely decimates any other smartphone that I've played with.

This roll out is too slow I heard theres really only one test tower in Bronx . I live in Brooklyn and spend a lot of time in Manhattan seems like ill have to take a train ride to the Bronx just to get a little taste of LTE.

The test towers in Harlem are very real. My cop buddy was on patrol there and found it while driving around yesterday. Personally, I'm not a fan of going to sketchy neighborhoods so I'm going to check the spot by Bryant Park next time I'm in that area.

Im sorry 38,579+ towers in two years slow? About as slow as a rabbit on speed. Also, with the investment they just got. They'll most likely be slapping rockets and skates to the rabbit.

For the Queens guys (like myself), it looks like LTE is starting to trickle out in the Whitestone/College Point area (weird the map shows the strongest coverage on/around the Whitestone Bridge...lol). I'm not sure if this is an error, but being that I take that bridge all the time and live only 10 minutes or so from the area, I'm going to go check it out this weekend. Will report back with my findings.
For the Bronx guys it would seem your coverage area has grown significantly since I first posted. You lucky bastards.

the 3g is making me miss my dial up modem from 99, im in staten island and im getting 28 down/ 300 up on a regular basis now, that horrible, i even might just esn swap back to my s1/s2 for go back to wimax

This is looking good. Slower than AT&T and Verizon but still good.

Got my first taste of LTE when I was doing some work @ Bronx HS of Science last week but I wasn't too impressed to say the least.
Clocked 4M down and 1.5M up (that's the best of 5 tests too), nowhere near my expectations. I've easily gotten those speeds on WiMax.

I'm heading to Manhattan on Friday. How's the data looking for MSG & W 63rd ish areas?

The most I get by my house is 9+ down & about 3 up.
I did hit 31.67mbps down & 10.43mbps up when I was down by Jerome and Burnside in the BX earlier. That was saweeeet!

Seems like Sprint is showing the most love to the hoods 1st. Burnside wow!!

Need my Upper East Side fix! Let's get some LTE testing love over on E70th and 1st.

I was in a area of S.I. where a new tower or a upgraded tower was in place. If you go outside you get full 3g speeds. If you go inside a building my 3g went from full 3g down to 4-5kBps....terrible...

No LTE in brooklyn
I go between Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens not one drop of LTE. I was by MSG no LTE I wanna know how sprints giving the BX LTE but yet not manhattan seems ass backwards.

This map always makes me mad. I live in an area with about 150,000 people and the Sprint service here is terrible. There have been 4 upgrades done in the last year, and only one is data related (capacity, and it's outside of the city limits).
When I signed with Sprint I was told we'd have WiMax within 4 months, that they were already working on it and they'd just have to switch them on. They said if I didn't get it by then I could have my $10 4G fee waived. Well, now it's a smartphone fee and they say they never said that. I cannot wait for my contract to end so I can go to a real carrier.
Being in Michigan it's sad that for the next year (at a minimum) they won't have any 4G. Seriously? Not even in metropolitan areas? I mean, I can understand Detroit, but Detroit's overcrowded suburbs, and Grand Rapids, Lansing, and the Kalamazoo/Portage area should get some love.
