I erased everything from my one x and was stuck in bootloader mode and while i was trying to solve it the battery overdrained. I've tried to charge it with different types of chargers, even let it charge all night, but it didnt react. Not even the notifier led flashed. So i took it to t-mobile and they've charged it with a special charger and i was able to see the bootloader menu. I've asked the guy to charge it again so i could run the ruu on it. But when he brought it back, everything was the same, no reaction for anything. Of course they've rejected to repair it because it was rooted. I even bought a new battery, and put it in, but no luck. Im desperately need help on solving this. Any idea would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi all,
Hopefully you can help me, i have just installed the latest radio and Modaco ROM (this isn't the first time i've did this).
After installation i got what looked like an image of a drive and an arrow, i assume this meant it couldnt find the boot image. I then tried a couple of times to reboot holding the home key but now i cant even switch it back on... even on charge the light isn't coming on
Any help would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks
GF
When the arrow and drive comes up, you're meant to leave your phone well alone, it means it's flashing something (usually something important!)
If your phone doesn't turn on, sounds like you've made a full hard brick, nothing you can do but see if you can get it repaired.
Gutted, cheers
Can you pull the battery and get into fastboot?

Sometimes, if the Hero does not switch on, taking the battery out and reinserting it might reboot it. But if the charge light is not coming on, then it might not work. Worth a try though.
Did you get the phone through a network? If it is under warranty, you can just play dumb and return the phone. They probably won't even know that you have modded the phone. My battery stopped holding charge and would not switch on unless it was plugged in to the mains. When I returned it, they changed my battery and the main board!?! When I called them up, the service centre told me "there was some dust on the main board, so we changed it".
Not smart enough to figure out that I had rooted the phone and was running Modaco at the time.

PS I am with T-mo BTW.

Worked a treat, got a doorstep exchange today

2 Questions:
Can my phone be revived?
If no, is there anyway HTC will be able to tell that it has been rooted thus voiding my warranty?
Apologies if this has already come up and been answered but I did search the Q&A and dev forums first.
Background:
Today my Desire died. I am running Oxygen RC7 (have done for a couple of weeks now)
At the weekend I had trouble unlocking my phone. I pressed the button but the screen stayed black. This was resolved by removing and re-inserting the battery. However, today, when the same thing happened, the battery trick didn't work. Tried leaving the Desire batteryless for an hour or so but still no joy.
Connected the phone to my computer by USB and no activity (no light on phone, no recognition on PC).
I would really appreciate any suggestions.
Oh and while I remember, I cannot even get into boot mode by pressing the top button and volume down.
Sounds like phone is dead DEAD!

Thanks, I'll look into these options tonight. Any thoughts re warranty? Will HTC know it was rooted?
Have you tried leaving it plugged into the charger for at least 10 minutes to see if you get any life?
Have you tried with the battery off, and just the charger plugged in to see if the LED lights up?

No I haven't tried these yet. Will try when I get home. I did try with two batteries though (1 fully charged, 1 about 90% charged).
It didn't appear a problem on software anyway, it appears a issue on hardware (if it was a problem on software, your phone would at least boot HBOOT).
Answering your question, yeah, they will probably discover that you rooted your phone. Don't know if they will void your warranty for this, but probably yes. Anyway, you can try at least.

Yeah, guess I have no choice! I'll try looking at some of the options talked about in this post but looks like I'll just have to chance it with HTC. Wish me luck!
My phone was rooted and I had CM6.1.1 on it, my phone died like yours so I sent it off to HTC and they didn't realise it was rooted. If you think about it if the phone is completely dead and doesn't even turn on there is no way for them to find out. Simples

Ooooh, that sounds promising. HTC are collecting my phone on Wednesday so fingers crossed!
Hey guys,
Last week I was at the bar taking a picture from some nice girls, unfortanly my Desire slipped from my hand an fell pretty hard on the floor. It was off an didn't boot. After a night without the battery, the next day it booted and worked for an week, no problems at all. Yesterday my phone shutted off again and now I can't boot it at all again, left it the whole night at the charger, but that didn't seem to help, ive searched the forums but nothing helped. The strange thing is, that it worked for an week and now it doesn't anymore. Does someone knows a proper solution for this, my phone is rooted and RCMixHD 2.0 is running on it. help?
Ok, I found out that I still have warranty at my provider! But, do they start whining if they found out my phone has an custom rom?

Hi.
I think that more than for sure there will be problems if they are able to find that you have ROOT-ed your phone since this breaks the warranty. Anyway try leaving it without battery in for a day and see if this can make the phone boot up. You could also try another battery, if you have a friend with the same phone or you are able to go to a store and ask to try out a battery to see if that is the problem.
If that is your problem you can, I think go to warranty and say that your problem is the battery.
It would be recommended that you run a RUU if you are to go to warranty. If they find out you messed with the phone I think your warranty will be gone forever.
If the battery is not the problem, then I think you can't do anything, since your phone doesn't even boot up, but go to warranty and pray that they wont examine too deep and see the root.
Still I have one curiosity: the led is still showing that you are charging the phone (the orange, green led)?

Thanx for your reply, I tried another battery but that didn't help . The led doesnt show up if I put an charger in it (tried with different chargers/cables the phone isnt doing anything. The last time it stopped working I didn't use the phone for about 8 hours, and after that I booted and worked fine for an week. So hopefully he wil work again this evening so I can make him stock again for warranty.

Hi.
As it sounds, it could be a motherboard problem, or the usb connection on the phone, or anything else, but since it isn't working with any battery then it is surely from the motherboard.
Hope it starts one more time so you can bring it to stock.
Even if this fails, there's nothing else to try but getting it to warranty and cross fingers.
Good luck.
My phone is charging only sometimes, I have to move the cable to make it charging, it's not cable fault, I tried many cables and many chargers, they all work in other phones, but in my phone the only work sometimes. Is there something to do?
I think the only way is to ship it to HTC assistance. Can you help me to return it to perfectly stock?
I unlocked the bootloader via HTC official site

Now it doesn't want to turn on anymore! the battery was 85% but the phone is now off. If I put in charge now, phone is off, the led is flashing (what does it mean? I have the latest CWM recovery from Modpunk), it's not always on like when charging normally. If I try to turn it on I can only see the proximity sensor flashing.
My battery is dead or my phone is dead??

its kinda new problem i have never seen anything like this.you can try to flash stock rom again and then see what happend,if still has same issue, best you can go to HTC service center.because its like some hardware issue.my phone 's battery wasnt charge fully, its alwys said "overheated" so i have to replace my PCB(motherboard of phone).
but my opinion is flash stock rom and see what happend.if problem seems same,go to service center.
I can't turn on the phone. How can I flash the stock rom ????
And I can't send it to the service center as it is. Warranty void because I'm rooted. I have to unroot it first!
I'm gonna try to use another battery, just going to the seller and ask if I can try the battery of another WFS.

oh i didnt read that portion.okay good luck with new battery.if new battery works first port stock rom and then your issues will be clear about charging.
They let me try another wfs battery and *magic* it works.
I hope the charging problem flies away with the new battery I bought from ebay. I will tell you all when it arrives

yeah.wish new battery will work.
sometimes issues causes of custom roms.like all wildfire s aren't made similiar.some has overclock capability and some dosent.so its upto your device built.so now you got working phone so charge it and see if it wont fully charge and issue remains same once port stock rom.hopefully issues will be solved after new battery.
i am currnetly using an htc one x, which i havent rooted or flashed yet, 2 days ago the phone just got hung, without me doin anything, i just turned on the phone and it was just........stuck.......then it switched off by itself and switched on again, it went to the htc logo, then switched off again, the same cycle repeated 4-5 times. The battery had abt 76% charge left. Then all of a sudden, it just refused to turn on. I couldnt charge it, the device manager couldnt detect it, and i tried nearly every possible combination of the volume-power buttons, still nothing. I saw somewhere that if u just charge for 1-2 days it'll turn on again, but still no luck.......no response from the comp wen i plug it in.......still running the stock os.........pls help, i have almost lost faith in technology

If you can get into the bootloader try a factory reset from there.

Dude, it seems that your battery is flat. I'd suggest charging the phone via a power outlet and not the PC usb. Once you connect the phone to the power outlet you should get a red charging led..
After it's fully recharged, try rebooting..if still the same problem, get into the bootloader and do a factory reset...if still the issue persists, go back to the retailer where you bought this from and get a replacement...

If you're not getting to bootloader and it won't start even after being plugged in so long...you don't have any choice but to seek repair.

Yup, it seems you have faulty mainboard...get it repaired..I wouldn't suggest spending a lot of money on repairing a outdated phone. If the service center is asking for a few hundred $ then scrap it..it's not worth it as you won't get any warranties for the repairs done.....besides, HTC will be stopping support for the phone after the next update to 4.2.2 even though the rest of world is on the latest Android versions...so at best you'll have another 2 more months by when your phone will be really outdated both in terms of hardware and software....
u are better off buying Chinese rip-off phones that have equivalent configs as the One X....sorry to say this..
