Hey all,
Not sure if im the only one who has this but..
When ever i enable the setting Stay Awake (screen will never sleep while charging), it will do so, but later on i notice it doesn't do it anymore.
Then i check the setting and i notice the setting is disabled.
Then i enable it again, and later on its disabled again by itself.
I had this with the stock rom, wanam rom, and now also with the omega rom.
Whats the deal with that?

My EVO 4G had a no-timeout setting and I loved it because the screen would stay on whether it was charging or not. I went looking for an app that might do that and found this for you:

I have the exact same problem from time to time, and im running usa at&t stock. The only thing I can think is maybe I accidentally hit power saver at some point and it clears the stay awake.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

My stay awake option always turns off after a reboot, and my power saving option is off. Haven't figured it out yet.

I flashed CM6 version RC1 and now my phone wont sleep. Everything in running services is sleeping so doesnt that mean it has to be something in the background? I check the battery stats and the screen bar is full while the others only show a small percent of usage.
Under battery history the major thing seems to be network usage/android system with half a blue bar and then a full red bar. Not sure if that helps.
Running services is 25%
screen on is22%
I am having trouble figuring this out is there a good tool that could offer some guidence or is there a slick way to trouble shoot?
Thanks, Thomas
Are you sure your phone is not sleeping? Press running and what does it say..
Sorry I know its not sleeping i have been monitoring it very closly for the last few hours. CM6 doesnt work like 2.1 it doesnt show up time and down time it just shows one time. So i have been monitoring how long its been on after a reboot and how long it shows its been running and everytime it shows its not sleeping.

Do you have the newest radio?
If so, try changing your network to CDMA using Network in the market. Menu - Set Network - Force Close - Scroll to CDMA Auto PRL - Press Back - Black screen - the phone will come back to life when done.

The usual tweaks area already done but thanks maybe I missed something but I keep going back over things looking to find anything I might have missed and still nothing.
The basics are done though, the phone is already set to auto prl CDMA. Gtalk is off, with no auto sign in. I have the settings all setup the way I would normaly have them set.
Keep them comming maybe I missed something lol.
Thanks, for the help so far.
yuo can try getting SystemPanel. the paid app will let you see history and can show you what apps are running int he background and inactive. It will also let you pull up the top apps using cpu/battery which might help out. its a pretty nice program for the price.
I use it for a lot of troubleshooting and finding battery drain from apps.
EDIT : in CM6 if you go to about phone and then status at the very bottom should show up time

Thank you I will try that. I am really feeling like an idiot here lol. I have been looking at up time thinking it was telling me how long the phone has gone without sleep. Uptime is just how long the phone has been unpluged. With the old 2.1 roms you got two times uptime and wake time or something like that. Is there anyway to check my wake time?
Im gonna dl that ap and check it out thanks.
I am an idiot. It was sleeping and after resetting the battery I think the battery stats where adding to my crazy issue.
I used to be able to leave my phone on standby overnight with 30% of battery with wifi on but whenever I do now it kills the battery and I mean kills it. Its dead to the point of me not being able to boot the phone on and have it shut down on me. I put my charger in and the LED flashes for a while and its only when it stays solid that the phone has enough charge for me to turn it on.
Is this a problem with the ROM or the firmware build its based on or am I missing a setting? WiFi is not on best performance mode and I have selected to turn off after 15mins inactivity?
It's likely to be due to the rom you are using. What rom is it?
It's not necessarily the wifi draining the battery.
The latest MIUI roms are terrible for battery drain relating to the mic not switching off. Post back and I will try and help.

Make sure you check under SETTINGS>>WIRELESS & NETWORKS>>WIRELES SETTINGS then press menu and then Advanced. Make sure the "Best Wifi Performance is unticked, and whilst your here may as well check the sleep timers.
If this doesn't work, then you may want to hunt down the app "Battery Historym for GB" which will allow you to see the battery history in GingerBread Sense based ROMS. this will allow you to look at what has been using the battery. What you are most interested here is the partial wake usage, or what has been stopping the phone from deep sleeping.
It might be the wifi or it might be an app you installed recently.
Make sure you do the usual, Check HTC Sync is not on, and other accounts which can get jammed in the sync process. I find google calendar can do that for me.
Also rememebr to check your radio is matched to your ROM and maybe get SetCPU (Search for it on here for the free for XDA subscribers version) and check your speed settings and governator. Im using Smoothass atm and it runs awesome for me.

Yeah I don't have anything but my Facebook/Twitter and Google accts setup to sync and thats even set to manual so as to avoid constant data drain. I know the HTC Sync and HTC Sense accounts draining battery and the fact that both Facebook and Twitter for HTC Sense along with Flickr cause the Calendar process to keep the phone awake.

Will have to double check on Lees thread but was under the impression the governor you mentioned runs on boot on Leedroid, I have setcpu installed but haven't given it root as I heard of setCPU causing issues with some Sense GB ROMS. I'll try everything else and look at that as a last resort.

Looked at using Spare Parts and the *#*#INFO#*#* but since GB it won't allow you to check the apps usage so gonna have to download that other app you suggested.
is this a problem in the settings deep inside the device? i ask this because before i got the juggernaut rom i had a tweak app that had a setting for always on while charging. every time i rebooted the device the setting always got switched back to never stay on. the same thing is happening inside the juggernaut rom- dev mode stays activated, mock locations stays activated but stay awake does not.
i am aware of the caffeine app but because the tweak app isn't working through reboots (and this is essentially a tweak app) i don't figure it would do what i want here.
Right now if the battery level is below certain point, the brightness setting and stand-by time setting get automatically set by the system, and cannot be changed.
I don't know what app or what part of the system is doing this for me automatically. I unchecked "power saving mode" and still.
This is very frustrating. I understand the phone may THINK it's helping me save battery but in fact the brightness I want and I usually set is even LOWER than the auto value the phone sets for me. And besides, I don't like the idea that MY phone is being controlled by someone/something else and I don't have an option to disable that something.
Someone please shed some light?
Edit:
Note that this is NOT the "power saving mode". I disabled "power saving mode" and still this problem.

I don't know the number right now. I'll keep an eye on phone as the battery drops and let you guys know the exact threshold that triggers this.
If it's some system app that's doing this, I have no problem freezing it using Titanium Backup just like how I freezed "Tethering Manager" to enable wifi hotspot and I freezed "My Account" so that 3G doesn't come on when wifi is connected.
Just don't know which app it is...
have you flash other roms to see if it go away? i think jug 2.0 take away this problem
And the even more ridiculous thing about it is that it auto sets the stand-by time to 30 seconds, and after I charge the battery to above the threshold it doesn't change the stand-by time back to where you set it! You have to change it back yourself.
Did you try a master reset and see if that fixed it?
No guys its like builtin in alot of roms with out apps... Its the system

For me there is a "power savings mode" right in the settings menu that does what you describe. Granted I'm not on stock ROM, but I think it was there with the Telus ROM too.

This isnt power saving mode causing this. Power saving mode is turned off and this still happens to me once my battery hits like 10%. This is built into the rom somewhere and the vibrant had the same thing. One of the devs for the vibrant was able to disable this setting in their rom so maybe the devs can do the same here. Again this is not power saving mode which can be set at certain levels that you would like.

Yeah once it reach 5%, the autobrightness become very bright and doesn't change..I have tested it on all ROM..and it's not the powersaving..I think it drain the battery really fast to help mentation the health of the battery..just guessing though..and stock ROM is more sensitive than jnault ROM..

You guys are right. It's not the power saving mode. This happens even when I turn OFF my power saving mode. It's something else in the system that's doing this, and yes, the auto brightness the system sets is even brighter than what I previously set myself. So, what a useful feature!
mine does the right thing, opposite of what your phones are doing. im guessing at about 5% battery life, the display sets itself pretty close to the lowest (if not the lowest) brightness setting, even with my power saving mode option unchecked. i wonder if the auto adjust screen power has something to do with it, since i got that checked all the time. but maybe not. im running on beastmod 1.0 rom.
Hi, I saw many posts related to this topic Wi-Fi turns off when phone in deep sleep but not able to find a single working solution.
My phone runs on 4.2.1 with wi-fi sleep policy set to NEVER ( that means always on ideally ) , and tried turning on / off wifi optimization, avoid poor connections is not ticked.
Even after doing everything the wifi is turned off after sometime and when i turn on Screen it turns it back! How to do I solve this?? I am using STOCK rom, with just root.. No other battery saver etc. app installed.

well i have this problem too on every jelly bean rom. the only rom without this problem in cm10 stable. now i'm with cm10.1 hoping they'll fix it like in cm10.
when that problem comes out just toggle on and off airplane mode and it should disappear until next wifi toggle off and on.
I hope google will solve it in key lime pie
CM 10.1 has only just started doing this in the last week or so, it was fine before. Was wondering if it was just me with this issue or not...

Am i correct in understanding that you don't want it to disconnect? The option in the settings is "Keep wifi on during sleep". If you have it at Never, then it will disconnect when the phone goes into sleep. It should be placed on Always because you want it to be on even during sleep
Flowed and Tapped from my Nexus
fixed the wifi problem
Heya! My first post!!!
So, i had the same problem on my Allview P5 Quad.
The guys from Allview released an update for my phone based on 4.2.1 and i thought the problem was from them. I had WiFi turned on and after a few minutes from entering sleep mode, the WiFi got disconnected, both WiFi and data. I have installed the last update again and again, rooted, unrooted, tried every option from WiFi and i still had the same problem.
So i timed the time when the WiFi disconnects and it was exactly 6 minutes. So i thought that it must be an option that does this. So i unchecked the Quick Power Saving icon from Switches and ... SURPRISE! My WiFi stays on continuously. So, the problem is from the system power saving settings. I hope this helps all of you.
P.S. Love this forum! Thanks for all your help!
I believe I found the problem, some how it is not the phone but my wifi router (and all routers) is the problem. Go into your router settings and look for the "Beacon Interval" and set that number to 50. I'm not going to explain what the beacon interval is, go google it and you will see. I switched mine and now the wifi on my phone does not switch off when in deep sleep.
