Sony Arc S on Jellybean - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just about to pull out my hair. So fair I have
Flashed the whole LT18i_4.1.B.0.587 tft file.
Then flashed the kernel of LT18i_4.1.B.0.562 tft file.
Rooted the phone.
Then flashed the kernel of LT18i_4.1.B.0.587 tft file.
This has left me with a rooted Arc S
Android version : 4.0.4 / kernel version : 2.6.32.9-perf / Build number : 4.1.B.0.587
I have the JB V6 img ready to build but how the f*** do I get boot.img working??
So close :silly::silly::silly::silly:
Thanks in advance..

OMG, dafuq??
Theres a lot of sticked threads in general with all the info you need.
The thing you need is a KERNEL with CWM to flash the IMG-file
Use the search function.......

dont be sorry, but yes, you can use x-parts once you got root to install CWM

Done that but I got Error 7 during the install and now my phones stuck on sony logo after a reboot. Id be happier throwing the thing at a cat at this point than getting it to work

What?!?!?!? I think you are the one, who should go read the sticky threads.
You don't use KERNEL with CWM to flash IMG file.

Thanks XperienceD but, try to find rom´s 2.3.7, and in the link that you post only there roms 2.3.4 and 4.0.4, i´ll like use gb 2.3.7 cause 4.0.4 y a lot slower and the consumption of RAM is so high
2.3.4 is the last SE official GB ROM. Most of the Roms are based on that. Only CM 7.2 is GB 2.3.7, but battery drains fast.

I recommend the one in my signature, which is ICS custom ROM. But GB Arconium 8.2 is very good, especially for gaming.
If you want to stay on official, definitely GB.

Why don't you post in the ROM thread, Chaos is answering (in his own original way) to all points.
My guess: it depends on what you choose in Aroma.

Where I can download the stock kernel? I searched and did not find it
Do you have the stock ROM.ftf file? If so, you can just flash the kernel alone in Flashtool.
If you don't have it, just download it from the forum. There are plenty available.

Just go here and download any of the .ftf. Use Flashtool and just flash the kernel alone [Exclude everything else].

Because you're using GB and not ICS, which most mods are based on these days, so update to ICS and try again.

i have seen videos on how to update via flash tool but its kinda complicated and still have to flash kernels, is there any other way or an easy way to update my arc? sorry bro for i have so many questions and still i have more.
what rom for GB do u suggest i use for my arc?
Flashing a stock ftf also flashes the included kernel. If you're still struggling with video tutorials or guides then someone else will have to assist as I'm not here to spoon feed for the reason stated in the second line of my guide.

at last my perseverance paid off, lots of reading, searching, downloading and bookmarking and trial and error and came to the point that i almost bricked my ARC. i am now on android 4.0.4 BB-77 with Advanced stock kernel, build# .587 running on xperia ultimate HD 2.0
heres my screenshot.
BTW if there is someone still a noob like me in flashing heres the simplest vid that i found and it work for me, you should have all drivers installed on your pc
do not release the back button until flashing is finished and not all back button are on the right side as seen on flashtool

Same answer as above, Visit this thread to flash any of the Firmware you want http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239?start=0&tstart=0
Or since you have a locked bootloader, you can use SUS or PCC to repair your phone
