[Q] kworker, battery drainer or normal? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

can't ever recall this as being so prevalent. getting them on AoCP, AoKP, and blukuban (that I've looked at thisfar) both with FF18 and fc22 modems. bad battery life too.

Bump, down from 99 to 82% this AM only 2.5 hours after unplugging from charger. over 1 hour awake with screen off the whole time. Any suggestions other than better battery stats to see what programs / processes are keeping phone awake or CPU usage?

Display taking up alot of battery?

I'm on here often and see of screen shots of peoples battery info. I don't see any one as high as mine. Here are my battery stats being unplugged for 6 hours and 1m
Display 74%
Cell stand by 7%
Phone idle 5%
Android system 5%
Dolphin hd browser 4%
Voice calls 2%
Swype 2%
I haven't used it much this morning so maybe the screen is taking up the most, but it always is the highest percent. Any ideas?

Are you running CM6?
Yes, is there an issue with this also?
Been unplugged for 2h 58m
My top is Cell Standby at 25%
Bottom is Display at 6%
rooted/forever/2.1/Hydra uv stock clock
I have auto-adjust off and keep the screen fairly dim, simply because that's how I like it not to save battery.

Im not sure if it is an issue but CM6 will show high display usage, where else other ROMs would usually show cell standby higher.
High display usage is a common theme on every single phone...it's what takes up the most battery in devices. Turn down your brightness if it's getting to be too much for you. Keep in mind that charge is the percentages of the battery taken up so far. so 75% of battery if you only have 10% gone is only 7.5% of your total battery.

Strange battery usage

Newly flashed rom, charged it full, and recalibrated battery.
only 6% battery drain while sleeping
But when im using it, it could use 1% battery after 5 minutes, but then suddely the next minute it has dropped 2-3%.
Sometimes it holds the battery, but then suddely it drops like crazy.
I havent let the battery die after recalibration, but i thought that after resetting the battery stats it should be more linear battery drain when im doing the exact same operation the whole time, so i guess it would drain the same amount of battery, not being that jumpy

using Current widget or battery monitor to observe how many mA it consume every one or five minutes? average 2-10mA is normal

Cell Standby/Phone Idle?????

Hello There my phone is using quite a bit of battery at the moment, these two things are right at the top of whats using battery, cell standby 51% and phone idle 39%, surely this way too high?
my Baseband ends in 56 if this helps
im using doomkernal v10 and darkforest rc2 rom
and my build number ends in 42
is this all correct or do I need to flash something?
The % means nothing really, If you do nothing with your phone then they'll be at the top.
The more you do the less these % marks would be.
However if you have battery drain download something like better battery stats to see what is draining most of your battery.
That is far more accurate and their is a forum post about how to interpret the results etc somewhere on XDA
I have to agree with doncoop in terms of that you shouldn't really worry about those two stats.
All phones will enter the idle/standby phase in order to conserve on battery life. For example: After a full charge and reboot, my phone will last anywhere in the vicinity of two to two and a half days. When I check on the battery stats, standby and idle (typically equal to one another) will have the majority of battery % used (typically in the 65% to 80% range).
Can you improve on that further? I guess, if you decide to underclock your phone or use a LV kernal. But again, going back to what doncoop stated, using a program like Better Battery Stats can help locate background usage programs and how they effect your battery.

Batterylife

Hi!
I installed blackout ICS incredible in my DHD. Everything went well but I wanted to calibrate my battery.
So I downloaded Battery Calibration by NeMa from Google play. Before calibration my batterylife was about 12-24h depending on my use.
Now after the calibration my batterylife is about 5h!! And the same usage as I have always had, couple of calls, net surfing and maybe a little of Angry Birds and spotify.
Did I do something wrong or is my battery dead? My DHD is about 2 years old.
According to Google calibrating your battery (erasing your battery stats) doesn't actually do anything, so it shouldn't have made your battery life shorter. You could install BetterBatteryStats from a thread here on XDA to see if something else is eating your battery. Look at alarms and wakelocks.
Ok, thanks. I installed the BBS and I'll tell the alarms and wakelocks here if I don't find anything funny about them...
bananagranola is right.

calibrating your battery basically tells your OS how much batter it has or doesn't have. IF you flash a rom at less than 100% battery, then the max amount of battery your OS thinks it has might be different from how much your phone actually has. Sometimes this can affect battery life.
The other thing is, did you calibrate at 100%, then unplug immediately? If not, that might trick your OS into burning your battery so quickly.
Otherwise, 12hrs to 24 hours is super amazing, I'm a semi heavy user, and I'll only be able to get 12-14 hours of semi serious use (8 hours standby, 2 hours on off usage, some of that at 100% brightness when i'm outside, and lots of music), end of that I have only 32% left. 24 is pretty amazing, I wouldn't be complaining
Well when you simply reboot new stats are generated.

Ok, so I have had today the BBS running on the background. I tried one thing in afternoon, I switched of Wifi. Wifi was off about 3h and when I came back to home I switched wifi back to on. I have still 70% battery!! and about 12h without charging.
BBS alarms:
android, wakeups:83 (Is this much?)
com.google.android.gsf, wakeups:56
com.android.settings, wakeups:13
and the rest of them is under 10
BBS Kernel Wakelock:
wlan_rx_wake: 14m18s
PowerManagerService: 10m57s
and rest is under 4mins
BBS Partial Wakelocks:
AudioOut_3: 3min16s
Twitter sync: 1m56s
BBS Other:
Deep Sleep is about 10.5h
Wifi On/running is about 6h
Is there something wrong or is there something that uses too much battery? Could the battery be "damaged" due it's about 2 years old now?
Sorry for stupid questions but I find it very annoying that sometimes battery life is 5h and sometimes it's way more than 12h with same usage.

What you've got looks fine (which makes sense, since you had good battery life this time). Keep BBS installed. If/when battery life starts tanking, take a look at BBS and see if anything else pops up. If you've got more questions then feel free to post again here.
Although you might miss the customizations of the roms, aospX has great and I mean great, battery life.

[Q] N5100 Avg Battery Drain (idling / Standby)

Hi,
I have had this tablet (N5100) for a couple of weeks now and am wondering what the average battery drain for others/you is like?
Mine is draining around 1%/H when idle / sleep (screen off, wifi-on scheduled with juice defender, Mobile Data off, Cell Radio on) with little to no activity.
so after my 4-5 hour sleep it's down by 5-6 %. is it normal, too high/ too low?
my other device samsung galaxy player YP-G70 has much better results, but then that is a totally different hardware altogether!.
Thanks.
1%/h would translate into avg current of 46mA, which is not bad, any higher value would be a reason to investigate. On my device, after some tweaking the standby current as estimated by the Battery Monitor Widget is between 10-40 mA.
Anyway, if you want to find the apps eating your battery during standby, check the better battery stats thread.

Hi,
I have done a few tests of my own.
Overnight my battery drain is 1%(about 9/11 hrs )
I further ran a test in standby for over 24 hrs and
battery drain was only 6%.(from 100% down to 94% )
Good luck
Just want to add ,i get like 2mA in standby,
Also the 6 % drain (in 25 hrs plus some min.)
Include my twitter updates ,weather, market apps update, etc once or so .data off there after.

wow, that's a little depressing! haha
I guess i'll have to go on some app shooting spree and see what i end up with.
As of now i have put google currents to sync only while charging and disabled google now and some location stuff in google maps and that seems to have improved things some bit already.
bad or good battery
I play samsung note 8 without screen off , and screen on just 4 hour
i think note 8 only survive 1%/5 minute
If play 1% just only 2 minute
