Google Wallet Reactions - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

mods... if i am wrong in posting please delete...
just want to see what reactions you get when you use google wallet, i have a couple ..
1.I was getting a soda from a machine that had NFC payment (my first use) ..there was a young girl with her father behind me as i put my phone up to the machine and then made my selection..the girl looked at my phone, then at her father, the look on her face was like (dad can you please explain what the heck just happened)
2. i went to the local 7/11 and as i paid with my phone the cashier was like "that is soooo cool, its on your phone??..wow neat"

Cashiers look at me like I just robbed them, lol. Like, "Hey wait, you didn't pay for that - or did you..? It says you did..."

Just got my first transaction to work at Rite-Aid. We were both shocked it worked. Lol. Had to get her to press credit key then it went right through.

Me and my friend went to sheetz and my friend put his phone up and the lady looked at us with a straight face and asked "are you high right now."
I told her she needs to press credit and then it worked....we are now known as the guys that pay with our phones...

When you pay via Google Wallet, do you still have to give your signature, or is that always bypassed?

Phone JUST stolen from work....please, need advice!

==================================================================
UPDATED 6/21/12
I wanted to thank everyone who offered kind words and support during this crappy situation I was pulled through. I really really appreciate all the nice things everyone said and offered for me. I also want to thank everyone who contributed towards me getting a new phone, I absolutely honestly would not have been able to buy a replacement phone without the additional funds raised here on XDA by the community. Thank you all so very much.
I wanted to thank kennyglass123 especially for his kind PM he sent me and his suggestion for me to link my PayPal account in case anybody was interested in lending me a hand. If it was not for his suggestion, I would not have had the opportunity to reach out to the community for help and to have my phone replaced.
Thanks in part to your donations, T-Mobiles willingness to give me an early full upgrade and credit of one free month and my wife for being cool enough to let me buy a $400 in less then a month of having another $400 phone stolen from me, I was able to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy SIII today.
Thank you all so much, I'll be forever grateful to this community
==================================================================
I work at a propane facility and I'm unable to keep my electronics on me while working.
I had my phone in my drawer and we had a temp labor worker here. He left, I came inside to grab my phone and it was gone.
I contacted T-Mobile who said because I don't have the insurance they cannot use GPS to track my phone. They said my window is past for insurance and due to that, they cannot add the feature to track my phone.
Is there ANY way at all I can possibly track this phone if I don't have an app on there? Any way at all? I just got this phone like a month ago as a gift that my wife somehow managed to save for and now its gone. I need ANY advice at all.
Please.
==================================================================
Per the request of Kennyglass123 I have linked my PayPal account to XDA. I have received a few small donations since doing so and I wanted to thank anyone who decides or who has already decided to donate towards the replacement of my phone. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart. My wife was truly moved when I told her what Kenny had suggested I do
Donation Amount To Date: $125.28

Go to the play store and download the app linked above to your phone. You can then track it from the my lookout website, assuming the phone is turned on. Damn office temps!

Once you have the app downloaded to your phone and are registered you can log in on there website and track your phone.
1. Install Plan B to the phone that you are trying to find from the Android Market website: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb.
2. Plan B will start automatically and send your phone’s location to your Gmail address.
3. To locate again after 10 minutes, borrow a friend’s phone and text the word “locate” to your lost phone.
You might want to try out the 3rd option mate. Some person commented that he found his lost phone.
Best of luck and keep your hopes up!

I tried and I'm getting nothing. I have a bad feeling because I unchecked the "allow apps to use GPS to track my location" that it won't work. I always disable that and enable it only when I'm using Maps so it doesn't drain battery (Facebook and such).
I've tried texting it several times with no luck.
If the guy was smart and shut data off or factory reset, then there's no way to track it. It's GSM, so you can't blacklist the ESN even. Sorry. I don't think there's much you can do but keep texting "locate".

Cops just left. I filed a report. I have to call and give them the IMEI number tomorrow so if it gets pawned, they can find it. I'm sure he's smarter then that though and he'll just sell it to a friend.
Pretty much just lost my phone and there's nothing I can do. Sucks so bad, I can't afford a new phone. God, this is so horrible. Just got the phone, wife doesn't work because our son, and now I can't afford to replace it. This is the worst feeling in the world.
temp labor is not that smart, from my experience those are people that cant hold jobs due to drug problems, or freshly out of jail.
Call and the agency let them know that you will be filing charges as your office has CCTV set up and has it all on camera, state you will not press charges if the phone gets returned.....
Then feel really bad when you find out tomm, you left it in the bathroom at work
I wouldn't really know but if he is/was working at your workplace wouldn't you guys have some info on him?

His company's insurance should cover it. They don't allow him to bring his phone with him, they should provide a safe place for him to keep it in. Stolen on company property, so it should be their insurance any way.

I agree in theory, but I'd be willing to bet there's some clause in his job contract saying they're not responsible.
I hqve had some form or another of tracking software installed to all my nexus devices, but the best one is cerberus. Even after a factory reset it remains installed. You may try pushing it to the phone and then log in via the website. It should give you info if it is connecting to a tower, it also will email you a photo when the phone is unlocked. Brilliant stuff.

Whats an s3 wit bad esn worth?

Reason im asking is i met a guy today to check out a white s3 and he was straight up in his craigslist ad and said it had a bad esn. He bought it off CL and got burned. He was asking $300. The reason im considering it is bc my daughter has a galaxy player 4.0 and wants a 5.0. There $220 new. A girl in her summer camp mother offered her $160 for it plus she has $100 left from her bday. Do you think its worth it if i sell her galaxy player and giver $40 more bucks for the s3? I have a blue my gf has a white one and shes always playin on my gfs phone wants one bad lol
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
It all depends on what you think it's worth
To me, it would be worth zero. It's a phone and you can't activate it on Sprint, does me no good
Now perhaps you can flash it to a different carrier that won't care about the phone itself..

Your dialect and grammar sounds like it comes from someone who makes $80k a year.

Look on HUDs website what were making in the dc md va area which has almost twice as much new commercial construction as any other part of the country. Really? that's your way of helping prople that ask questions?
Bmore you don't have to explain yourself to anyone.
There are lots of ways to end up with a phone with a bad ESN.
Someone else could have lost it, got a new one with the insurance then found the old one. Stop wasting post space with unfounded accusations.

Well, i am screwed!
I picked up an S3 from CL today, called sprint from there and confirmed that ESN is clean. came home and begun the activation process only to learn that although the ESN is clean, the phone is locked to the other account. suffice to say the phone has been wiped and no information on it to connect to previous owner. i did the ##786# to retrieve the phone number, called the owner and said i have your phone, only to learn that the phone was stolen. i asked DO YOU WANT IT? upon their response i said, i live about 1 hr away, would you be willing to compensate me for my travel, thats when it got nasty. the lady started to threaten me by telling me she will sue, and that she will report me to the police as if i was the one who stole the phone. long story short, i drove to sprint only to find that they have nothing to do with lost/ stolen phone, they directed me to the police.
as of right now, i wasted an entire day just figuring stuff out, spent 10$ in tolls + 10$ in gas money to get the phone + one day of no work ( As a Business Analyst for Gov contractor you can imagine is a lot of money) and tonight driving to the police station to turn myself and the 'stolen' phone in!
Like i said, I AM SCREWED!!!
Point the police to the person you got it from. That's about all you can do. Get a report number from the police if you can. That way when the owner won't stop harassing you since they probably have your number, give her the report number.

That's lame that she was so hostile, you should have reminded her that you weren't informed it was stolen and you could easily just smash it on the ground if she preferred. Dunno why people have to be so nasty when it looks you did all the right things. Hope it all works out man.

S3 Tmobile brand new robbed on craigslist

Hello, pls see my story below: - Anything I can do by tracking the IMEI ? etc ?
MY STORY -------
I was robbed on craigslist, NYC MIDTOWN?
To sum it up:
I was robbed by a con artist on craigslist pretending to buy my phone.
I sold many things on craigslist in the past, high end and small end. Whatever..
I posted an ad to sell my Samsung galaxt s3 tmobile phone for $540, and the buyer called with 1 number and ask if Its available and that his wife saw the ad and hes buying it for her. Then he asks me if I’m a business and I said no. Then he said he will call me back and I said ok.
He called again in a few minutes and said hes interested and asked my location and he will be coming so I said ok , I gave him location, on park avenue and 58th street at TD BANK. When he got there he was driving was in his car so I got him to show him the phone.
He asked nicely if I can just go with him to tmobile store around the area to make sure the phone is not stolen so I said okay sure. Its 2-3 blocks away. We was driving and he was telling me this whole store how he and his daughter went to check out a phone and after he bought it the phone turns out to be stolen and it took him a week to return it back to the seller and such and he thanked me for going with him to the store.
Finally, we parked RIGHT in front of the tmobile store by a fire hydrant. He asked if I can watch his car while he goes in to make sure its legit and to activate his simcard for the phone so I said ok pls make it quick. He went in for a few minutes and I was wondering what if this car is stolen ? or he ran away ? anyways so I took a peak and saw him on the line and speaking to the representative so I thought okay its cool. He came out and said something is not working and if I could go and talk to her, so I can ok.
I was in the passenger seat , now the keys are in the car. He ask if I can turn off the car so I turn it off and I took the keys with me when he said he needs to get something real quick and go in first, I went in for less than a minute. LESS THAN A MINUTE OR 1 MINUTE!!! Then I turned around and POOF!
HE IS GONE…. HE IS GONE!! I got scammed and wow, I was shocked and laughing.. I tried running up the block but his car is nowhere to be found!
I called the cops and gave a report, waiting for a call back from the detectives hopefully.
I have received a call back from 1 of his numbers he called me with , and it was lady claiming she don’t know what happen. I have a feeling she is linked to him, I don’t know.
What should I do now ? What can I do ? I want to catch this sucker!
His appearance:
Age 19-25
Skin: Dark / Tone
Nationality: Hispanic Hair: Curly hair Attire:
He was dressed in a white button up with dress dark khankis or dress pants and shoes
. ( his attire indeed let my guard down )
Tattoo: He had a tattoo on his right hand
Name he goes by: Andy , Jason , Alex , Alec -
His accent is a bit weird.
Numbers he is using: 917-549-9112 347-340-6348
these other numbers were called from a phone store with demo phones or something: 718-733-7119 646-296-3081
Regards,

Another victim's story, happened before I got robbed-
Has anyone gone through this? I got robbed on craigslist?
Postby hawly » Tue Aug 28, 2012 3:20 pm
Ok here's how this went. I was selling a samsung galaxy s III (for about $500) on craigslist. I live in queens, NYC, so I arranged for the exchange in midtown manhattan. I drove there with my bro and parked my car in a parking lot. The guy who i was selling to, arrived in a family van with his 2 year old daughter. He wanted me to drive down the street to the "Fossil" store where his "wife" worked at as she was "the one he was buying the phone for". Seeing his daughter, his demeanor, as well as the fact that we were in a heavily populated area, I thought nothing of it. He seemed like a reasonable person.
We get to the fossil store, he asks me if I can go to the driver's seat as he goes into the store to speak to his "wife" in case cops request for the car to be moved. At this point, his 2 yr old daughter and I are in the car alone. He asks me if I can give him the phone so that his wife can test it out. I say fine as I have his car and his kid is in the car. He comes back later and says he's having a problem testing out the phone. He asks me If I can check it out. I say no problem, I step out of the car, turn off the car and hold the keys with me (the keys also included 4 other keys). All of a sudden, he disappears literally into thin air. I take a few steps to look around. This is 7th ave manhattan, so there's alot of people walking up and down. I then turn around, and boom...car is gone. All happened within 1 minute. Literally, 1 Minute. I literally started laughing in amazement.
I am not one to get scammed..very rarely have i been in a fraud situation. I've seen everything...but This.
How could a guy use an innocent little kid to scam people? Is this a new Craigslist scam? I am being reimbursed for the phone by my credit card company as they cover theft. What do you take of this?
is this for real?

Yes.
I know it might look confusing and have typos and such but I am so heated and still cant believe I was conned like that. Its just shocking!
I went to the precinct on my lunch break to give the cops more details and that other post I found a day earlier of my incident indicating the same pattern of crime.
Its the same guy!!
new member first posts sounds weird but still it was a entertaining read whether real or fake
why would you let him out of 2 feet if he has your phone, you let this happen to yourself learn a lesson from it
this is a reason why I never sell phones on Craiglist, I always sell them on Ebay is more secured and no way for you to get scammed, I have seen a couple of friends that actually sold their phones and got fake $100.00 dollar bills, with Ebay you get backed up by paypal.
Sounds like some next level ninja sh!t, I hope by some strain of luck you get your S3 back.

You morons need to stop being so cheap and use ebay and just pay the damn auction fees. That is why they guarantee their buyer and seller protection.
Now you don't have a phone, I would never trust Craigslist for selling or buying anything.
Also why would you get into a car with a stranger? Why not just say go park and I will meet you at the store?

What? It's common sense. If I'm selling on CL the person doesn't even get to touch the phone unless they're in the middle of me and a friend on the street or sitting down inside somewhere.

lol... wow... I've sold tons of phones on cl. Never this happened to me. But then again I live in Virginia, where its legal to open carry a gun. And anytime I have a item for sale and someone wants to buy it, when we meet up they always notice that I'm not one to scam or rob.

Just like to start this thread to hear about your google wallet experience. Here is one of mine for now I have a few.
I just used it for the 1st time a few days ago getting gas I told the old guy $20 credit then he saw me put the phone up to the paypass and my wallet said waiting on him then he canceled it and said oh NO that dont work here. So I went back after work with a new guy on duty and did it (worked). MODERATOR EDIT - COMMENTS REMOVED
Every-time I use it, people look at me and ask, "Did you just use your phone to pay?" Every-time.
Love using it wherever I can. So convenient. Just wish more places supported it. People always looked at me like a pulled a magic trick. But the latest problem I see it that place have the hardware, but the firmware isn't setup.
I have no idea what it do. Can someone explain it?

Basically you can store your credit cards onto your google account and then you use the app in your phone to emulate the credit card that you want to use.

Does it use NFC?
Can you make it force you to enter a password before you use it? I'd hate to have my phone stolen and have that mean my credit cards are stolen too.
(Yeah I admit I know nothign about this. It sounded like another lame feature when it came out, but now that I'm hearing more it sounds really cool)
OK,

Google will not do a refund for the Pixel (refunded) ?

Right now i am frustrated, upset and just don't know how to swallow this. Ill try to be short. Need advice on what to do.
I have previously had issues with two of my google xl phones.
I have returned one of them.
Received the second one as a replacement which was also problematic.
I have decided to return the Pixel stand along with that replacement phone together and get a refund. (Since pixel and the stand came as a deal)
Google sent me the packing slips, I remember asking the rep can if i could ship both items in one box to which i received a reply "yes" (not that it makes a difference)
I came to UPS gave the lady the box. phone and stand was in it. I also put return paperwork for the phone and for the stand in the box in front of her and past her two shipping labels. One for the stand and one for the phone. She closed the box and put only one packing slip on the box. Told me i have put the paperwork in the box already. There is no need to put the second shipping labels as its going to the same place. You get where im going with it now?
Google received the package in 2 days and started to process the refund for the pixel stand (as that was the packing slip she chose)
I have called them asking them about the phone and they knew nothing of it.
After over 4 weeks of trying to call them and get answers of my escalated case i received little to nothing. In fact calling them 3 weeks after they"ve received the package to get answers and they didn't even get my story straight. I had to tell them again what had happen. Obviously, shipping rep Lori, have told me not to worry, the box went into one room. They will find it......
So just now, i get an answer in my email saying "the package didn't contain the device" therefore no refund.
Feel free to tell me im an idiot do ship and do what i did. As Im entertaining that idea as well, sadly.
Im know what i put in the box so either UPS or Google had lost it or took it
I did take few pictures of the box with the phone and stand and packing papers in that UPS store before shipping them out.
If they would have told me right away there was no item i would have went to UPS store while the lady still remembered me. May be if they had video surveillance they could have pulled it as well. Now after a month im not so sure bout neither.
Cant they look at the pictures and see the time, date, location, authenticate it? Doesnt UPS ship the package with weight shown?? Im sure weight of the package was way heavier then just a single pixel stand. Wonder if they even called UPS.
Its very hard to swallow this as a lesson.
Tomorrow ill go talk to UPS see if i can get some answers. Ill call google tomorrow as well, see if i could get some answers as well.
I don't have any experience with returning items, but I do know that when trading in phones for credit towards a new device it explicitly states that you must send a separate package for each device being traded in as they are tracked individually. Sorry to hear that happened but if they had already paid for the shipping labels I guess I would have just boxed and sent separately since I wasn't paying the shipping...
I had the same issue with a phone I bought for my mom. They sent us the wrong phone and instructed us to refuse delivery and return to sender. Long story short, since they didn't tell me to use a label or send me one for return the phone got lost. So I was out $300 and three months of arguing. To make it worse they still tried to charge me the fee on Fi for not activating the phone on the plan. It really rubbed me wrong and even after all the good years they treated me well it still made me sour.

It was a refund tho. I wish it would say anywhere what you wrote, would have saved me.
As soon as they received the package I had a feeling they scanned it and tossed it to the side. Did little to nothing to investigate either.

Sucks. I still can't swallow the loss.
All I have is these two pics.
Someone took or lost the phone.
It's painful to eat this.
Good luck, sounds like a nightmare.

thx, it is.
From the moment i walked out of that UPS store i had a bad feeling. Thats why from my first call to them ive been pushing them to check and find the package but that goes nowhere when all people do is read the scrip on the phone. led nowhere. I know what i packed in and what i brought to UPS, so its blows so hard that im losing 1275 Cnd.
Will go to that ups place tomorrow, hope that lady works is there and pray to god she remembers me and our conversation. So we could go back to those fvckers and say look harder for the damn device.
As soon as they would have opened that box they would have seen two items and two pieces of paperwork for each.
Errrr I'll stop venting.
File against them in small claims court. Around here it costs like 50 bucks to file. That will at least get their attention.
I am about to do it over the 50 pre order credit, just because I am pissed about their BS.
Or maybe a shipping claim with the carrier.

Great, thank you for the advice. Ill go to UPS tomorrow to chat to them but if i can go to a small claim court ill do that too. thank you, thank you.
I wonder if the lady at the store took it after you left. She could of easily told another employee/driver that hey there's a $1000 phone in there take it. Not very uncommon for UPS/FedEx etc to steal from customers.

Unfortunately, the pictures don't show a phone or a stand. They only show a box and some bubble wrap. So I don't think that's going to do it. Also, I don't think a UPS employee would take a $1000 traceable device and put at risk a job that probably pays a decent salary. But something happened to the device and you will just need to keep on Google to find out what happened. Has the phone been turned on? They should have a record of that as well as blacklisting the IMEI. It might take a while but with persistence you should get your money back.
Hello OkayGK, hope it all works out for you. I'm waiting for my phone to arrive. It's been 2 weeks. Can you please tell me how to get in touch with company reps. Thanks. Again I hope they resolve your issues and you get your refund. Good Luck.

Hey. Funny I deleted my bookmark for Google support the other day to clean up my chrome Abit. I have the number for the saved to my phone. Didn't think I'd need the bookmark anymore.
Search through Google store in your account settings.
Should find it somewhere there.
For Canada here's the # (855) 836-3987

Thanks for the info. I will look in my settings for contact info. I never got an email from them saying it was shipped yet. So i guess it's just do to normal delay time. I think if is not shipped the support reps. will not have any status info. on order.
I've read stories about people doing chargebacks in similar situations which can result in your entire Google account being closed. Just FYI if you intend to dispute the charge or file small claims, they may just close your account and move on.

Anything is possible but the lady was older and seamed nice. I kept thinking it was on googles end.
I went to talk to UPS, lady wasn't working. Talked to another gentleman there. He told me he will talk with her as well as if i need a letter from them they can assist. I was told as soon as the package leaves that store it is in UPS hands. So now, i think a driver or anyone else could have taken the item as well. Again, anything could happen at this point. I can entertain the ideas left and right where that phone could be.

Yeah, i doubt ups store took it, however drivers could... I've heard stories. Also, remember the story where google had chose a shipper to deliver phones to us and that company would take the phones out of the boxes and ship empty boxes? i think i read it somewhere here. Had me so paranoid, i was taking videos while unboxing my phones.
What UPS guy told me today is as soon as the package leave their location it goes to a wh. Where they weight the package and charge google according to its weight. Im sure they could look at that and see how heavy the box was when UPS shipped it. That would tell everything right away. If it was as light as just a stand means phone was taken out. If the package was heavy enough for a stand and a phone/accessories then its on googles end. Of course i could have put stones inside those boxes. Yet i wasnt even lucky enough to have google come back to me with that. Still have to call them see what where how etc.
I would not want to band the Imei as it can probably be changed remotely. Least if I let the IMEI number be there is a chance if the phone is in use it could show.

Sadly, i understand. I paid of my Mastercard as i kept waiting for weeks to get refund from them. I could of gave that phone or bought a new phone for my gf, or use that money for something else. The fact that some asshole may be using my phone or someone made a fvck up and got away with it, whether its UPS or Google, now thats hard to swallow. Im trying to be possessive and making my peace with it but ill also will keep trying to do everything i can to get the refund. Cant give up, yet. Im not rich to close my eyes on this it hurts and even rich people probably would still fight this.
here is the last response form google rep who was looking after my case.
Thank you for contacting Google Support!
Thanks for contacting us about your order. We’ve carefully reviewed your case and our records confirm that the package you have sent us does not contain the device, therefore we have not processed the refund.
As a next step, you may consider initiating an investigation with the carrier or notify local law enforcement. We’ll be happy to assist in an investigation.
The more I think about this, it's a straight up UPS claim and you will not have much if any trouble getting UPS to pay up.
How did you purchase the phone? All debit and credit cards with Visa/MasterCard on them have protection built in. Contact your card provider. It does not matter if you paid it off. Hopefully you have the UPS tracking # too as they are likely the ones that your card or Google is going to go after, after the fact as all shipments have insurance on them.

I have two credits link to google as well as paypal. Now i think just one credit as the limit on it was increased so there was no need for another but at the time of purchases ive had two.
I don't know why the credit card is liable for this. I know, i know get my money anyway... who cares where it comes from but now the more i got to sleep on it the more im bothered by the fact i got owned and less by the money. No im not rich, i want the money but its hard to explain. All i know it bothers allot.
I just dunno anymore, lost a bit. again, friday i found out from google they couldnt find the device and now its monday. Less im bothered by the money more im bothered by the scam or mistake someones made. stings.

Not yet, ive been so so busy. still am but hopefully im going to call google later on today. see whats up and then call UPS and try to file a claim.
The more i read their email (google). I posted on the first page. The more i understand that they asked me to contact my carrier, meaning not google but my cell phone carrier. WTF, how is carrier responsible. And Police im guessing which is again nor here or there but hey if i need to ill go to authorities.
My priority as of now and im not so upset anymore is
Call google and find out
Did they get my package (the box)
When they opened, what was in the box?
One item (stand) or two Items( phone and the stand) or non? As they were not clean in the email and even refund for the stand didnt come in.
More importantly. UPS store told me USP will charge them for package weight. So how heavy was the box? So if the box was 6 pounds (3 pounds for phone and 3 for a stand) and they received the box and it was light as nothing was in there, wouldnt that hit red flags automatically? Light box, when opened nothing in it, yet it says its 6 pounds. UPS wtf, where are items. or am i wrong?
Unless google doesnt weigh the products then by that definition they should be liable in my mind, as UPS can be sending empty boxes non stop and google can tell customers fuk off, u sent us nothing. You know what i mean.
So that info is going to be crucial for me, If i can get someone on the line who can actually provide me something instead of looking at the screen reading what it says there and saying "sorry" every two min.
I'll keep you all updated, thank you for the support.
