I have been using my HTC Desire for a while and have flashed multiple ROMs in the past. Having got the new Galaxy Nexus, passing on the desire to the family.
On the procedure on the flashing RUU I started with flashing a Sense based ROM but my phone after the sense-based ROM phone does charge on USB but there no USB notification neither does the computer recognizes the device.
Again, on flashing CM7 or ICS, USB is detected and phone works fine.
Is there an explanation, please help.
Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried the pre-rooted stock froyo ROM from teppic74? Give that a try and see if it gives the same issue.
You seem aware of all the processes so I assume full wipes and correct hboots have been used etc.

I have read lots of threads in this forum but no solutions seem to fix my problem.
I have the GT-N7100. Unlocked, not rooted & standard factory ROM.
When I connect it to my PC (Win7-64) via USB, it is not recognised at all. It charges, but the PC won`t recognise it.
I have installed and uninstalled Kies twice.
I have installed and uninstalled the device drivers twice.
I have tried different USB cables, different USB ports and different PCs - same issue every time.
Please help!

try enabling/disabling usb debugging or developer options altogether if it is still not fixed then
try reflashing stock rom. maybe some modification you did and don't remember.

That's what I'm thinking too. I might have to do a factory reset rather than re-flash though - it's a viscious circle - the PC won't recognise the device so I can re-flash ROM
I was trying to avoid this course of action though :crying:
Does anyone else have other suggestions before I do this?
(BTW, I did try enabling/disabling debugging already)
OK, so I eventually got too frustrated and did a full factory reset ... my PC (or KIES) still won't see the Note 2?

I should probably be a bit more specific about this question... I would love to get a new kernel (and ROM, and even just root the device) but I no PC will recognise that the GN2 is connected - so Odin or anything won't run.
Any suggestions?

Hi Mate,
This seems to me to be a driver issue. Check device manager, you might have a yellow bang there, uninstall and reinstall the driver from there.
Do get back if you need further instructions.

Hi
I have still had not luck with device drivers, etc.
I have obtained Mobile Odin Pro, by I would like to clarify, the app clearly states that the device must be rooted to run. My device is not rooted - how can I root it? ( I have tried ExynosAbuse but it doesn't work). or can I do this with Mobile Odin?
Thanks for your help.
Theres a software called mobilego. Try installing it cand connect your phone. If it identifies your phone u can atleast take a back up. I had the same problem with a S2 i was using couple of months back. Never got it connected thru kies.

Try cleaning usb socket in device. Remove battery and clean usb socket very carefully, i have seen few cases where charging can be oossible but still unable to get connect to PC due to faulty socket. Otherwise go to service centre and ask them to check for same.

Hi,
I want to root my One X (international) but I get stopped straight away because my phone won't connect to my computer. When I plug the USBs to both my computer and my phone nothing happens, except charging. There are no options given and the phone doesn't show up as a drive on the computer.
I've installed HTC Synch Manager, tried 4 USB cords, tried 3 computers, I've switched on USB Debugging.
The HOX is on Android 4.1.1
Any ideas? I've scoured many forums to no avail. I'd really like to try some custom roms.

Are you saying there is no solution or that you don't know of one? Can someone confirm that this is a known and unresolvable problem or should I keep looking for a solution?
I will have a try then.....the bootloader is untouched (locked) and the phone has never been detected by the pc before ?

Thanks. I bought the phone second hand from a young lass who had broken the screen (which I have replaced) so I presume the phone is standard and been updated to 4.1.1.
Some software information:
Software number 3.14.862.27
HTC SDK API level 4.63
Kernel version:3.1.10-g5ebf4bc [email protected]#1 SMP PREEMPT
I don't know if the phone has ever been detected by a computer before. I have installed the latest HTC Sych Manager on my Vista computer and no, the phone isn't detected in the device manager.
Although I have rooted my previous phone (Defy) and had kept up to date with the latest roms I am still fairly new at this.
Thanks for any help.

That's what I thought but I get nothing except charge. That is why I've tried a number of cables. I'm suspecting my micro USB socket is faulty. I've cleaned it and even checked how it's mounted. Solidly soldered so I'm checking every other avenue before replacing it as I have a dead Hox for spares.

Ok. So is it your opinion that I'm stymied? Are there any other avenues I can try?
The phone is pretty good the way it is, I just like playing around with Roms etc. I'd also like to get rid of the Vodafone crap.
My guess something is broken somewhere in the usb connection....ofcourse, otherwise it would be recognized. But you figured that out already. Maybe a phone repair shop can take a quick peek at it ?
Otherwise your stuck on what you have now.
Well, it connects to the PC, but it only charges so I think this might be a software bug. Maybe you could try to root it and see if it fails at adb commands. My guess is that it will work. Just follow a rooting guide CAREFULLY and don't skip any steps.

First make sure usb debugging is on in settings. Maybe unlocking the bootloader and rooting will work. It's done from the fastboot usb screen where adb and fastboot commands should work. Give it a try before sending for repair.

I definitely agree with his idea, but the first thing you should do is completely restore you're one x.
Then check in hboot, that's power volume down wether the device is locked or relocked.
After that get the latest drivers, connect your hox in fastboot and try to unlock your device via HTC devs.com
Good Luck.
P.S. tell us what happens, we might find a solution all together

I've done a factory reset, checked that Debugging is on and checked in Hboot, it says *** LOCKED ***
I've connected the HOX to my Vista computer in which I've installed HTC Synch Manager. I presume this installs the latest drivers?
My Hox is still not recognised by the computer. When I request the identifier token it gets stuck on < Waiting for device >
Have I followed your instructions correctly?
Edit 1: Just to be sure I repeated the procedure on my desktop computer which is also running Vista. Same results.
Is there any way of extracting the identifier token within the phone?
Edit 2: I pulled the motherboard out and checked the micro USB port with a microscope. Pretty grotty inside so I cleaned, tightened and checked it. All clean but still no computer connection.

Hey guys i've been looking through alot of google and can't seem to come up with anything so i turn to you awesome people.
My friend got a Galaxy Nexus GSM and he bought it with a boot loop problem. The phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked. I know because i can go to CWM recovery and also theres the unlock sign on it. However I can't get my computer to recognize it what so ever not even mount the storage. I figure i need to get the drivers to install but i need it to be recognized in device manager to do it through a rootkit. I tried to install the ADB drivers but also got no luck. I then tried to get to ODIN for it to work but ODIN won't recognize it either. Is there any way to install the drivers so i can put on a ROM on this. I think the person he bought it from formatted everything and messed it up. Is there anyway i can install the drivers without getting it to recognize first? I tried it in windows 7 and in windows 8. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

You need to get adb to work with your device, which you can do in a custom recovery. You don't need to have USB debugging enabled, you would if you were booting into the OS, but not the recovery.
You can get drivers setup while in recovery or fastboot just as easy as if you were booted into the OS, so no you don't need another device.

again, read the thread i gave you. if you're still asking this question, read it again.
Isn't that for the nexus 4? And I did pay attention to section A but it told me how to install the drivers which is the same way as every other tutorial I've looked at. My device doesn't show up on my computer and I can't install their way. As for the fastboot driver installation idk what their talking about. I followed the instructions though and got no results. I didn't do the whole thing cause for part C I need the original rom for galaxy nexus and also I don't know if the platform tools zip is for my device so I haven't gone through with it just yet. I'm sorry it's not my phone so I don't want to mess it up even further. I've read about the part with it being in recovery mode with the volume up + power option but I'm at work and haven't tried that yet but I doubt that will work since the phone is clean. Can u please be a little more specific there's 99 pages that I have to go through for that sticky. If u can't it's ok I'll just have to go through it next week. You reboot the device into bootloader/fastboot mode, then you connect the USB, and there's no sign at all that a USB device has been installed?
Remove all drivers, reboot, and start over. Get a tool for Windows that allows you to really dig on all of the installed drivers and remove all Nexus devices drivers permanently. Rant: Umm, Windows sucks bad. Thanks Linus!

I did a little looking up about omapflash and from what i can see so far there needs to be drivers installed first. I may be wrong but i have to do some more research on it and i dont have a linux pc my laptop is down thanks to a power pin connector pin being pulled out. and i dont know if the device port is good or bad i can get a charge but that doesnt mean its fine. To really make sure that the issue isn't on the host side but rather the USB port on the device? Yeah, that would rule it out.
Also, I just remembered: you're not using the USB ports of your PC case are you? Make sure you're using the motherboards' own USB ports.

Windows 8 64-bit...drivers install...stuck
even I am stuck on the same roadblock. have my GNex stuck on the google logo. can access recovery mode though (TWRP 2.5.0.0). Now i just upgraded my PC to Windows 8 64-bit and cant seem to be able to install drivers.
the problem is that almost all the methods require:
1. GNex to be connected with USB Debugging ON
2. install ADB Drivers
3. get into Fastboot or Recovery
4. install Bootloader Drivers
since i cant get past the Google logo on my GNex...i cant perform Steps 1 & 2.
and if i directly try to install the bootloader drivers the OS returns an error (yellow exclamation next to the installed driver)
Added pictures to help explain better.

even I am stuck on the same roadblock. have my GNex stuck on the google logo. can access recovery mode though (TWRP 2.5.0.0).
Thnx in advance.

SOLVED (Dont know how but it worked):
1. Factory reset (TWRP)
2. Installed an old ROM which was already on the GNex
3. Restart...it gets stuck at the Google logo...remove battery
4. TWRP - Factory reset
5. reboot...
Hello,
I used to have Viper rom installed but I wanted to go back to stock so I flashed stock RUU and ever since my phone doesn't detect it's connected to a pc : in stock rom I don't have the option to chose betwen MTP or PTP mode, in download or recovery mode fastboot doesn't see my device (and neither does adb in stock rom).
I already tried two differents usb cable and two different pc with the same results.
My device is S-OFF.
Thanks for you help

when you go to your device manager on your pc (I don't know what os your using) are there any errors being shown? you most likely need to update the driver

I'm a mac user but with windows under bootcamp the phone doesn't show up in device manager. The only thing that happens is that the phone begins to charge but that's the only thing. I also don't have any usb hub, the phone is connected directly to the computer.
Edit : even with your fastboot link it doesn't work
Edit2 : in bootloader mode only I now have the following message : unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed)

Thanks but I've also tried that and of course it still doesn't work.
I sent it back to after sales service through my operator.
I'm waiting for their answer and will update this thread if anyone faces the same problem
Edit : After a month of waiting I finally got back my HTC. It was a material issue, they had to change the motherboard to solve it.
So I can also confirm that even if you're S-OFF and have an unlocked bootloader HTC will still repair the phone for free.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me !
