I Flashed AOKP's JB rom , this one to be precise ' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985437 ' and it works smoothly.
Now the problem is, after i mount any script , int2ext / d2ext+ , it works well for the 1st time, but once i restart the phone, it goes back to having just 150mb free again and my ext partition doesn't seem to have been connected,i end up reflashing the whole thing again. My phone shows S-ON when i reboot in recovery, does that have something to do ? because when i flashed WIldChild 3, the scripts were working fine. i'm a newbie here, so can someone help!!

WildChild (also my first ROM ) is based on the Stock Sense 2.1, so not much has been changed, well not technical stuff anyway, just visual with a few minor tweaks. JellyBean though is still in Alpha, meaning the features are minimal, also meaning that there are a lot of things that don't work, and will never work. I have used it, battery life was dreadful and it didn't do much so it's just to do with that ROM. Try this (Android 4.0.4) ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633198
I've used it and it's great, the only problem is that it doesn't read contacts from the SIM Card or Sync them from G-Mail, so if that's a problem (was annoying for me) don't use it. It would however get rid of all the problems you're having if you did use it..

I'll flashed the speed droid yesterday, and even though it says that the scripts are working fine (In the description) , my phone goes into boot loops when i flash it. Will flash the one you suggested! thanks ! :good:

So far, I've only used AOSP ROMs (DevNull and Oxygen) since I rooted my phone. Personally, I like it better because I like simplicity, and the idea of a stock ROM appealed to me.
But there seems to be a problem with AOSP ROMs, the call delay issue. Although people say they hardly notice it, I get 3-4 seconds delay every time and I find myself going like "Yes. Hello. Hello? Are you there?" every time I answer a call. I've heard that the problem is AOSP-specific, because of some libs Google uses, and that HTC use their own libs which do not present this issue.
So yesterday I backed everything up and got ready to try LeeDroid. But after installation, I could not get the ROM to boot nor the SD card to mount. I eventually fixed the problem by repartitioning the SD card, and I'm now running DevNull. I'd also like to mention that I'm S-OFFed, was running CWM 3.1.0.1 and had the Oxygen HBOOT before installing the Stock one back.
Now, I'd like to know how I am supposed to correctly switch to a Sense ROM coming from an AOSP one, as well as some opinion as to which is the cleanest, reasonably fast Sense ROM available out there. Perhaps some thoughts on kernels, too.
Thanks in advance!
I am on RcmixS 1.6.2 at the moment and working well.
Do full wipethen flash the rom, that is it. Enjoy.
I did perform a full wipe before installing.
What version are you trying to install? At the start the GB version didn't like the newer versions of CWM, also hboot versions were an issue too. I haven't really been keeping up because I went back to 2.4.1 till an actual GB release. Check it out those might be causing you trouble.

I've downloaded InsertCoin and I plan on installing it later today, as now I've got some stuff to finish. If it doesn't work, I'll try downgrading CWM. Thanks!
You need to use the stock 250MB HBOOT - obviously a Sense-based ROM is too large for the Oxygen one

Try AuraxTSense, i have been back and forth between most of the Sense ROMS & this is the one i come back too.
ALWAYS
I've given InsertCoin a try yesterday, but I didn't like it as it was way too laggy (as in I usually had to touch something twice for anything to happen).
I think I'm going to try each one today and see what I'll end up using. I'll post my opinions here.
@EddyOS I did use the stock HBOOT with LeeDroid, but I downloaded the CM7 version of InsertCoin.
@3f1f37 I'll give it a try, thanks!

laggy? twice touching ?
Are you trying to touch things during the first minutes of the first boot after flashing??
Let the ROM settle about 5-10 mins after first boot, your phone will be blazing fast afterwards.
InsertCoin 1.0.7 CM7 (Gongerbread; Sense 2.1 + 3.0; 130MB) is one of the fastest and the most stable Sense ROMs currently available,I use it also.

I too felt it was very laggy. CM7 version, with CM7 hboot, 1GBext. even the typing was bad, had to retype messages because it would start to lag out and miss letters
i dont know what i could have done wrong to get such a horrible experience. maybe you can enlighten me?
@aaa I've overall had a laggy experience even one day after installing it.
@ringer13 what ROM have you eventually settled to? Thanks!
I'm currently trying CoolD, or something like that, because the ZIP only has 144 MB. I also tried installing HiApk (it has 138 MB), but the download was damaged or something, it didn't pass the verification process in Amon_RA 2. But I will redownload it if I'm dissatisfied with CoolD.

cyanogenmod7 ive found most gb sense roms way too laggy so went with aosp
I'll have to agree with that. My HiApk ZIP was corrupted and after booting CoolD, all I got was Force Close for all the apps, including the launcher.
I didn't bother anymore, so I went on and installed Oxygen 2.1.3. It works like a charm.
Well it is true that u have to sacrifice speed, but the benefits from the sense are worthing the less smooth response, and mostly it is hardly noticeable...
Sent from my HTC Desire
I know the speed comparison of AOSP and Sense, I have used both.
The only thing I have not used is MIUI...saw it on youtube, and hate it right away...
I know AOSP is always faster than Sense but Sense in generally especially InsertCoin is not so bad so that you had to touch things twice before getting any response.
Moreover, InsertCoin is one of the fastest Sense ROMs you can find.
If you had to touch everything twice until you got any response from your phone, check if you have massive processes on the background caused by any other apps/syncs or some problems with your SD card.
Hii everyone.
I have some questions regarding CM7 [Nightly Builds] right now i m using CM7 Stable (7.0.03) and want to upgrade to CM7 nightly.
But before doing that i want to know
Firstly, the difference between the both?
Secondly, will it be flashed through the same way as i hv flashed stable CM7?
Third, i m using CWM 4 so will it require to upgrade to 5 to flash nightly?
Four, how is the camera quality in nightly becoz i hv found a worst cam experience in CM7 stable yesterday?
Sorry for my english. I wanted to know all these things so i hv putted my queries here.
Hope this might help more newbies like me.
Thnx
1: There are many changes which go into everyone of the nightlies, so you will have newer features, and, maybe, newer bugs. But, you can read the last few pages of the CM Nightlies thread to get info on any bug which members may be facing. Nightly changelogs can be found here:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=buzz
2: Yes, it will be flashed in the same way.
3: No, CWM4 will work perfectly.
4: Its pretty much the same across all AOSP ROM's. The only thing that is new is the Touch to Focus Function which is now implemented. Use Better Camera mod for CM7 here, which reduces the JPEG Compression applied on the images, giving potentially sharper images:

CM7 Nightly # 177
Hello ...Pardon my mistakes .. i am kinda beginner for Android .. ..
I just flashed CM Nightly 177 .. works great .. its fast ... but i am facing problems if anyone can help me with this :
1- after installing ZIP of CM i installed the zip "gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip" for google apps. it worked for me with my last CM7 based ROM "High Voltage 1.2" .. but not working here .. i am unable to get Market and Maps .. which Google apps zip i should install with this nightly... ?
2- i was using A2SDGUI with my previous ROM and for that i flashed Darktremor script "dtapps2sd-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed.zip" . but when i use the same script for CM 177, my phone reboots and never seems to complete the boot process "stuck on HTC logo" ... it is obvious that the problem is creating by that script.. but i want to know that ...am i missing something here ??
Or a dumb question ... does it makes any difference to move the apps to SD ??... ?? LOL ... or should i leave it and enjoy rest of the features ??
i will hit the thanks button for sure...
Have you tried popping the battery out when stuck at the HTC screen then rebooting, I'm not sure what causes it but it sometimes happens to me when rebooting From recovery?
I think dta2sd beta 4 is buggy I had problems too, just switch back to beta 3 and it should work fine. Apps will be more stable when running from the internal memory but when I was using a2sd I didn't really notice the difference except a quarter of my miserably small 2gb SD card had gone for the partition :/

hi this is my help, maybe others say different but.......
1. after flashing cm177 flash the gapps too before reboot. i use the same gapps as this on 177 so its fine.
2.i had probs with beta so use Version 2.7.5.2-1.
* personal preferences, i say its worth having the option to move my large memory apps to sd but have tried with and without and cos im a bit of a memory junkie i prefer to use apps on sd.
basic but hope it helps. regards slymobi.

this time it failed boot only first time .. and i did that battery popping thing (watched the HTC logo for about 15 minutes )... then uptil now its fine with the same beta 4 script .. ... lets see how long it goes ...
but still i am not getting google apps .... ...

Hi
I'm after a stable ROM for my HTC Desire which supports EXT4 partitioned memory cards and the ability to have internal apps installed there. I'm not to worried if its running Froyo or Gingerbread just that its stable.
I'm currently running Runnymede AIO v4.0.3 but have found it really unstable with the following issues:
Random reboots and the phone switching off,
Doesn't always transfer bluetooth calls to my car speakers and sometimes just puts the call on speaker phone,
When I receive a call sometimes it only rings for a split second before becoming a missed call,
Whenever I recieve a call the caller can't hear me and vice versa for the first few seconds,
The camera is very buggy and the phone reboots when I sometimes look at the gallery,
Videos are in the wrong aspect ratio when I view them,
The phone is just very sluggish even with the processor overclocked,
Wifi doesn't connect sometimes until I switch it off and on again.
Try the new Runnymede Version 6.0.4.1. Works like a charm.
Cyanogenmod 7.1. Is very stable, never had any problems.
I agree with Aronoskarss. CM7 is so smooth and stable and after flashing INT2SD script it supports ext4 partition, so you don't have to worry about free space for apps.
P.S. ADW Launcher is included in CM7, but it's just awful so I recommend you GO Launcher EX which is free.
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to give Cyanogenmod 7.1. a go as I've had too bad an experience with Runnymede.
How do I installl INT2SD script is it an app? Also do need to install Google Apps if I go for Cyanogenmod 7.1 and also a different radio?

I had used Runnymede a time a ago and felt it quite stable although a bit slow and sluggy (may be because I were not using a high-speed SD card). Anyway I also recommend Cyanogenmod (you also should try WildMild CM3.1, it's a mod from Cyanogenmod and it's much more improved and better tweaked).
If you want INT2SD, first prepare a EXT4 partition on your card (use GPard Live CD to partition it if you have not), then flash the rom in Recovery, right after that, flash the INT2SD zip file (before reboot). Let the phone enter homescreen and settle down for 3-5 minutes, then reboot again. Now everything should work correctly.
Cyanogenmod comes with no Google Apps, so if you need it just flash the GoogleApps zip file (you can find it easily on Google) or you can use 3rd party apps (which is better IMO). And about radio, just use latest 5.17.05.23, search for it in Development section in this forum.
Ok thanks. I think I have nearly everything now, I have:
The Cyogenmod 7.1 ROM,
The latest GB Gapps,
The latest Radio.
But I can't seem to find a link to the INT2SD script.

Ok I decided to go for CM7 but i'm having real issues trying to get it to run properly on my Desire.
Currently I have installed it by first flashing the ROM, then Gapps and finally Int2sd2.
However when I booted up my phone for the first time and titanium backup started installing all of my apps it ran out of space before it completed and now I keep getting loads of FC errors.
I've tried to work out how to use Int2sd2 to shift all of the internal apps over to my EXT4 partition but I can't work out how to do this?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone.
After I got my Samsung S3 I decided to play around with my old HTC Desire a little bit. My aim was to install a ROM that would be as plain as possible, visually, so I can play around with it (which I hoped would also maximize battery life) and make it n00b friendly. CronMod seemed the way to go, what with his tweaks and the INT2EXT script etc to maximize app space. Plus didnt want to go to ICS cuz of camera issues.
However, I've been struggling with it. My phone rarely boots up after a shutdown, it just stays at the opening HTC screen and nothing happens. When it does load up into the ROM, on the rare occasion, it'll Reboot fine as many times as I ask. Its just after a shutdown that it doesnt work. Since I want to give this phone to my mom, she, not being very tech savvy, wont have the patience for this. So I need a permanent fix.
The second issue I'm having is with Google Play. It works fine for a little bit but for no reason will stop working. This happened the first time I installed the ROM, then I re-installed and it again having the same issue. I tried "Clear Data" and phone reboot but still no respite.

Did you changed hboot? i had the same problem when i installed miui on oxygen r2, which wasnt compatible. If you didnt change hboot i think it's the rom, i suggest you flash another one. And about swap..well the point is you dont need a swap partition. It's like another part of ram, when the ram is full the system uses the swap to free it(or something similar, i'm not good on explaining so sry if you dont understand but it's similar).

I changed the HBOOT before I flashed the ROM on. The CM7r2 HBOOT is meant to be compatible with the ROM.
Thanks for the info on Swap, it does make it a lot clearer.
I'll probably wait a bit longer to get some more replies, and if I cant fix the issues then I suppose there's no option but to move to to a new ROM. [I really hope the Devs get the camera issue sorted with ICS roms then I'll jump ship "in a flash". ]

Yes, that's correct. It is 6.93.1002.
If it is just stopping at the HTC screen then I am inclined to think it may not be a ROM issue. At this stage you are still in bootloader. Will it even refuse to go to recovery when it starts acting up or for that matter is even fastboot available? If it neither goes to recovery nor can you access fastboot then that means it is hung in bootloader.
But the bootloader should be OK since a corrupt bootloader means brick. You cant boot sometimes like you seem to.
The other reason for bootloader hanging would be I guess overheating or some other hardware fault. Does the device boot up fine after you let it cool down well?

I can get into Recovery fine every time - VolumeDown + Power -> Fastboot -> Recovery.
I cant seem to get into the ROM anymore. It does warm up pretty quickly if I leave trying to boot up but I figured that was because of the screen drawing more power due to constant white screen. What I did find earlier in the day was that if I held down VolDown+Power+Trackball (is that hard reset..?) at that HTC screen it would sometimes restart the phone and then it would load up to the ROM - but its hit and miss. Like right now it just wont work.

Maybe your Desire's partitions are somehow corrupted. Use 4ext to check partition, or do a full wipe, including sdfat32.
I would wipe davlik cache and perform a system wipe/factory reset from recovery then install CM7 as this is pretty plain and can be easily customised. Also you can install S2E from the play store to manage your A2SD with no separate script needed. Hopefully you don't have anything on the phone you need to back up. With any luck this might fix your play store issue too.

Oh well, hopefully an update will fix that.

I hate to ask this question, since I'm sure you're busy fixing bigger issues, but what exactly is a kernel? I know the ROM is like an OS on a PC but then what is the kernel? How would I install it (is it just the same ol' Recovery --> Install from sd but without any wiping?) and why would it fix the issue with my phone?
Thanks.

The kernel is what runs the OS it is a Linux kernel patched for the arm architecture it contains the drivers as well as it is responsible for booting the phone and also is the layer between the hardware and software.

Thanks.

To put it simply, it's just a bunch of codes that makes the link between the hardware part and software part.So without it the software part doesnt know how to use the hardware part. And yes you can flash it from recovery and since it's a part of the rom, maybe the rom's kernel it's deffective or something, it's worth to try.
Hello there guys. As the title says, Which kernel for the HTC ONE X is the most stable one to install that you also can overclock it to lets say 1.55-1.65GHz & to OC the GPU? My HTC ONE X is modded ARHD 21.0(S-Off & Rooted) and ive ONLY tried to do this once and i did it with Bricked Kernel(sweep2wake one) with no success. At first it kept getting stuck at HTC logo and next time it didnt even want to go to bootloader and the sence stopped working(fixed with reflashing the kernel for ARHD 21.0) Reason why i even bother asking is because ive done research time to time, reading carefully each topic ive managed to find for the HTC ONE X that you can do this and i still am not sure which one is the best one to use without getting any big issues, like f'up the phone completely.
Anyone who know and can take his time to post a link to a topic with a good kernel that is easy to flash and do the things mentioned here would be greatly appriciated!
Bricked kernel was only developed for ICS roms. Not jellybean. That's why it probably didn't work.
This one is nice

And as additional info : there is no best kernel to use, try some yourself and find out which one suits you the best.

Yeah thanks alot for those. Appearently i was wrong about S-OFF, its actually S-ON. Should i download the Sense ones from any of those links you provided now that it actually is S-ON or does that have nothing to do with what i chose?(Sense or AOSP)
Depends on your running rom. The kernel needs to match the rom.
Sense rom = sense kernel
Aosp rom = aosp kernel

I havent figured out what is what but i went ahead and chosed the AOSP kernel and flashed it. Everything was working fine and i think i did it right with the packing and all that stuff. Managed to get to the HTC One screen with the Beats Audio then it just was stuck there. MAYBE i was unpatient as usual so what i did is restarted the phone, flashed the kernel for ARHD 21.0 and reinstalled it. Phone works perfectly fine untill i saw that Rosie isnt working no more and the modpack 6.6 started to reboot my phone the second it got to the locked screen for some reason. Before that it worked perfectly fine and i had my setup so fine it went so damn fine you know ;/ But what caused this issue? Did i f' it up when i flashed the kernel(2nd post you linked one) or is it just me whos installing it all wrong? The way i did was:
1: Get the one One X click running.
2: took out the boot img of that zip file(AOSP kernel)
3: repacked that(that is what i thought i had to)
4: flashed it
5: phone rebooting constantly, even went in to safe mode for some reason but got fixed upon reinstalling ARHD 3 times.
EDIT: funny thing btw is that the first time i installed ARHD the rosie worked. I remember doing something wrong that i had to reinstall it and Rosie did not work. Got rosie back by installing the modpack 6.6 but now its not working either way... And appearently im a retard. I shouldnt have installed AOSP... I just tried the Sense one and it works perfectly! Going to try to reinstall rosie from modpack 6.6 and see if it works.

AOSP kernel will not work on Sense ROM's correctly. ARHD is a Sense based rom (AOSP kernels have a lot of Sense stuff missing).

So when i flashed my HTC ONE X that was modded with ARHD with the AOSP kernel it somehow "removed/lost" the rosie app in it or something? Because everything else is working PERFECTLY fine except for rosie. Like i said, i got the Xmister sense kernel to work right now and its running smoothly.
I just don't understand why you flash a aosp kernel on a sense rom while i even said that a kernel must match the rom. learn the differences before flashing......

That was me being unpatient and not reading thats all mate. Im just asking now if that is what caused it or not. What is done is done, just wanna know if that was the reason or not, simple. And if theres a fix for it i would highly appriciate to know how to fix it!
Reflashing a sense kernel and modules should do the trick, thats all
Or install the rom from point 0

Already installed the rom plenty of times now like ive mentioned. IF from point 0 means that you just goto recovery mode and install it again. Did that like 5-6 times already and it still isnt working for some reason. Do i have to wipe my SD card completely and then put back the zips n stuff and then reinstall it that way like you usually do? should i factory reset it first and wipe something else or is that even necessary?
