Hello there guys. As the title says, Which kernel for the HTC ONE X is the most stable one to install that you also can overclock it to lets say 1.55-1.65GHz & to OC the GPU? My HTC ONE X is modded ARHD 21.0(S-Off & Rooted) and ive ONLY tried to do this once and i did it with Bricked Kernel(sweep2wake one) with no success. At first it kept getting stuck at HTC logo and next time it didnt even want to go to bootloader and the sence stopped working(fixed with reflashing the kernel for ARHD 21.0) Reason why i even bother asking is because ive done research time to time, reading carefully each topic ive managed to find for the HTC ONE X that you can do this and i still am not sure which one is the best one to use without getting any big issues, like f'up the phone completely.
Anyone who know and can take his time to post a link to a topic with a good kernel that is easy to flash and do the things mentioned here would be greatly appriciated!
Bricked kernel was only developed for ICS roms. Not jellybean. That's why it probably didn't work.
This one is nice

And as additional info : there is no best kernel to use, try some yourself and find out which one suits you the best.

Yeah thanks alot for those. Appearently i was wrong about S-OFF, its actually S-ON. Should i download the Sense ones from any of those links you provided now that it actually is S-ON or does that have nothing to do with what i chose?(Sense or AOSP)
Depends on your running rom. The kernel needs to match the rom.
Sense rom = sense kernel
Aosp rom = aosp kernel

I havent figured out what is what but i went ahead and chosed the AOSP kernel and flashed it. Everything was working fine and i think i did it right with the packing and all that stuff. Managed to get to the HTC One screen with the Beats Audio then it just was stuck there. MAYBE i was unpatient as usual so what i did is restarted the phone, flashed the kernel for ARHD 21.0 and reinstalled it. Phone works perfectly fine untill i saw that Rosie isnt working no more and the modpack 6.6 started to reboot my phone the second it got to the locked screen for some reason. Before that it worked perfectly fine and i had my setup so fine it went so damn fine you know ;/ But what caused this issue? Did i f' it up when i flashed the kernel(2nd post you linked one) or is it just me whos installing it all wrong? The way i did was:
1: Get the one One X click running.
2: took out the boot img of that zip file(AOSP kernel)
3: repacked that(that is what i thought i had to)
4: flashed it
5: phone rebooting constantly, even went in to safe mode for some reason but got fixed upon reinstalling ARHD 3 times.
EDIT: funny thing btw is that the first time i installed ARHD the rosie worked. I remember doing something wrong that i had to reinstall it and Rosie did not work. Got rosie back by installing the modpack 6.6 but now its not working either way... And appearently im a retard. I shouldnt have installed AOSP... I just tried the Sense one and it works perfectly! Going to try to reinstall rosie from modpack 6.6 and see if it works.

AOSP kernel will not work on Sense ROM's correctly. ARHD is a Sense based rom (AOSP kernels have a lot of Sense stuff missing).

So when i flashed my HTC ONE X that was modded with ARHD with the AOSP kernel it somehow "removed/lost" the rosie app in it or something? Because everything else is working PERFECTLY fine except for rosie. Like i said, i got the Xmister sense kernel to work right now and its running smoothly.
I just don't understand why you flash a aosp kernel on a sense rom while i even said that a kernel must match the rom. learn the differences before flashing......

That was me being unpatient and not reading thats all mate. Im just asking now if that is what caused it or not. What is done is done, just wanna know if that was the reason or not, simple. And if theres a fix for it i would highly appriciate to know how to fix it!
Reflashing a sense kernel and modules should do the trick, thats all
Or install the rom from point 0

Already installed the rom plenty of times now like ive mentioned. IF from point 0 means that you just goto recovery mode and install it again. Did that like 5-6 times already and it still isnt working for some reason. Do i have to wipe my SD card completely and then put back the zips n stuff and then reinstall it that way like you usually do? should i factory reset it first and wipe something else or is that even necessary?

So far, I've only used AOSP ROMs (DevNull and Oxygen) since I rooted my phone. Personally, I like it better because I like simplicity, and the idea of a stock ROM appealed to me.
But there seems to be a problem with AOSP ROMs, the call delay issue. Although people say they hardly notice it, I get 3-4 seconds delay every time and I find myself going like "Yes. Hello. Hello? Are you there?" every time I answer a call. I've heard that the problem is AOSP-specific, because of some libs Google uses, and that HTC use their own libs which do not present this issue.
So yesterday I backed everything up and got ready to try LeeDroid. But after installation, I could not get the ROM to boot nor the SD card to mount. I eventually fixed the problem by repartitioning the SD card, and I'm now running DevNull. I'd also like to mention that I'm S-OFFed, was running CWM 3.1.0.1 and had the Oxygen HBOOT before installing the Stock one back.
Now, I'd like to know how I am supposed to correctly switch to a Sense ROM coming from an AOSP one, as well as some opinion as to which is the cleanest, reasonably fast Sense ROM available out there. Perhaps some thoughts on kernels, too.
Thanks in advance!
I am on RcmixS 1.6.2 at the moment and working well.
Do full wipethen flash the rom, that is it. Enjoy.
I did perform a full wipe before installing.
What version are you trying to install? At the start the GB version didn't like the newer versions of CWM, also hboot versions were an issue too. I haven't really been keeping up because I went back to 2.4.1 till an actual GB release. Check it out those might be causing you trouble.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I've downloaded InsertCoin and I plan on installing it later today, as now I've got some stuff to finish. If it doesn't work, I'll try downgrading CWM. Thanks!
You need to use the stock 250MB HBOOT - obviously a Sense-based ROM is too large for the Oxygen one

Try AuraxTSense, i have been back and forth between most of the Sense ROMS & this is the one i come back too.
ALWAYS
I've given InsertCoin a try yesterday, but I didn't like it as it was way too laggy (as in I usually had to touch something twice for anything to happen).
I think I'm going to try each one today and see what I'll end up using. I'll post my opinions here.
@EddyOS I did use the stock HBOOT with LeeDroid, but I downloaded the CM7 version of InsertCoin.
@3f1f37 I'll give it a try, thanks!

???
laggy? twice touching ?
Are you trying to touch things during the first minutes of the first boot after flashing??
Let the ROM settle about 5-10 mins after first boot, your phone will be blazing fast afterwards.
InsertCoin 1.0.7 CM7 (Gongerbread; Sense 2.1 + 3.0; 130MB) is one of the fastest and the most stable Sense ROMs currently available,I use it also.

I too felt it was very laggy. CM7 version, with CM7 hboot, 1GBext. even the typing was bad, had to retype messages because it would start to lag out and miss letters
i dont know what i could have done wrong to get such a horrible experience. maybe you can enlighten me?
@aaa I've overall had a laggy experience even one day after installing it.
@ringer13 what ROM have you eventually settled to? Thanks!
I'm currently trying CoolD, or something like that, because the ZIP only has 144 MB. I also tried installing HiApk (it has 138 MB), but the download was damaged or something, it didn't pass the verification process in Amon_RA 2. But I will redownload it if I'm dissatisfied with CoolD.

cyanogenmod7 ive found most gb sense roms way too laggy so went with aosp
I'll have to agree with that. My HiApk ZIP was corrupted and after booting CoolD, all I got was Force Close for all the apps, including the launcher.
I didn't bother anymore, so I went on and installed Oxygen 2.1.3. It works like a charm.
Well it is true that u have to sacrifice speed, but the benefits from the sense are worthing the less smooth response, and mostly it is hardly noticeable...
Sent from my HTC Desire
I know the speed comparison of AOSP and Sense, I have used both.
The only thing I have not used is MIUI...saw it on youtube, and hate it right away...
I know AOSP is always faster than Sense but Sense in generally especially InsertCoin is not so bad so that you had to touch things twice before getting any response.
Moreover, InsertCoin is one of the fastest Sense ROMs you can find.
If you had to touch everything twice until you got any response from your phone, check if you have massive processes on the background caused by any other apps/syncs or some problems with your SD card.
Hello,
I've been an inactive member for a while and don't have the 10 posts required to post in the android development forum yet.
I have Rooted my phone and got the clockwork recovery working, however, they are many ROMs i cant seem to install. After flashing the zip file and rebooting they either sit on the HTC white screen or keep rebooting on the HTC white screen. Why could this be? A few ROMs work but most don't seem to, in particular the ones that dont work are...
1. .SENSE Beta Universal v1.3
2. EQDKP v4.7 multi deodexed
3. HC MIUI3
4. M1ndh4x8r ROM Sense 2.1 GB2.3.5_2_1_2012
5. TurboFire Beta 9
I am mainly looking for a ROM that is Super Fast, has some form of App2SD, prolonged Battery Life, and is them-able using the Theme Chooser found in Cyanogen 7 ( Mainly function over beauty, though cant handle down right ugly)
Thanks,
Before you install the zip you wipe data/factory reset and also wipe the dalvik cache. See if this rids you of issues.
Yeah i do this every time, still no luck though :/
its because of the overclock speeds not everyones phone can handle 806 i found that out for myself i left the cpu at 806 and a few times ended up in a bootloop then i raced in once it eventually started then changed it to stock 600 and it ran fine so it was the overclock in my phone anyone elses i dont know

i don't know much about these ROMs, but do any of them require an ext partition on the sd card? check the ROM's individual requirements
gparted is recommended to create the partitions, there are guides around somewhere...

how does m1ndh4x8r say in his rom posts to download "600Mhz Default - for phones having OC, and booting problems" that was posted when people were getting freezes and bootloops or black screens i know its a white screen but it cant be that much of a diffrence because once i flashed the 600 default my phone was fine so they must be problems with it im not trying to start an arguement you have been here longer and have more experience with these roms but everytime ive had an overclocked rom its always the same boot problem unless its stock 600

I recently recieved my One V and finally decided on rooting/installing a custom rom. I came from an Optimus V and had no problems installing a custom rom in that.
However it seems that no matter what kernel/rom I use they eventually lock up within the first 5 minutes of booting and restart. I've tried practically everything and can't get them to work. I wanted to ideally run the CDMA Pacman Rom w/ the Supersick kernel. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I have can have this working before work tomorrow.

"It ain't workin" isn't enough information for anyone to troubleshoot from.
Be more specific on what you did, which instructions you followed, what ROM and what kernel, what sort of computer you're running, where you're downloading from, and the steps you are taking. If none of the ROMs are working, the problem is probably not the ROM, if you know what I mean...

I used the HTC One V AIO Toolkit to unlock the bootloader, get root, install CWM 6.0, create a backup and then install a kernel (I used the Super Sick JB one). From there I used CWM to gain access to my SD card and transferred over the CDMA Pacman ROM (after wiping everything clean) and then installed the ROM. It booted up successfully however as stated in a minute or so it would freeze up and restart itself. Even if I don't do anything after a reboot it'll still reboot itself anyways.
I did a bit of research and I'm thinking it could be due to the OTA Radio update from 2-3 weeks ago? I'm at my bootloader now and it says I have radio version 1.00.00.0928.
Any further help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. It's worth noting that I've tried many different Kernels (repeating all the steps above with full wipes every time) and different ROMs that were supported by the kernels. I've even tried to restore my phone back to stock and it just starts skipping at the VM Boot screen.
Oh, and I'm running Windows 7.
You mean the Rom booted normally right ?? If yes then the problem is with the Rom

Pardon my ignorance but that just doesn't make sense. I've tried several different ROMs with the correct kernel's (Pacman, CM9/10, AOKP JB) and it's all the same scenario. They all boot (or occasionally don't boot and restart themselves at the boot animation) and then reboot themselves once they're pass the lock screen.
Like I said even currently if I restore my stock rom file it just loops at the VM Boot animation (which doesn't play fluidly).
Figured out the issue . It was radio version 1.00.00.0928 messing up my kernel.
I Flashed AOKP's JB rom , this one to be precise ' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985437 ' and it works smoothly.
Now the problem is, after i mount any script , int2ext / d2ext+ , it works well for the 1st time, but once i restart the phone, it goes back to having just 150mb free again and my ext partition doesn't seem to have been connected,i end up reflashing the whole thing again. My phone shows S-ON when i reboot in recovery, does that have something to do ? because when i flashed WIldChild 3, the scripts were working fine. i'm a newbie here, so can someone help!!

WildChild (also my first ROM ) is based on the Stock Sense 2.1, so not much has been changed, well not technical stuff anyway, just visual with a few minor tweaks. JellyBean though is still in Alpha, meaning the features are minimal, also meaning that there are a lot of things that don't work, and will never work. I have used it, battery life was dreadful and it didn't do much so it's just to do with that ROM. Try this (Android 4.0.4) ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633198
I've used it and it's great, the only problem is that it doesn't read contacts from the SIM Card or Sync them from G-Mail, so if that's a problem (was annoying for me) don't use it. It would however get rid of all the problems you're having if you did use it..

I'll flashed the speed droid yesterday, and even though it says that the scripts are working fine (In the description) , my phone goes into boot loops when i flash it. Will flash the one you suggested! thanks ! :good:
Hi, I've got an HTC One V that's stuck in a bootloop with almost any ROM I've tried installing. Bootloader and CWM are working although CWM seems to have an issue with sd_ext during wipe (i've been doing it manually and thru the factory reset in bootloader). After rooting, I installed AOKP 4.1.2 and it ran smoothly, so I decided to unlock the carrier. Then I got Paranoid 4.2.1 to work, but with a serious keyboard bug, so I decided to try P4.2.2 and that didn't work...bootloop. Since then...no dice. I've tried many different custom roms, with some boot.img's get me stuck on the HTC legal screen while others will get me to optimizing and then starting apps...but no further. Although, My_Sense v3.0 works and puts things back to stock, my suspicions are that the aroma installer my be the key...but I cannot seem to retro-engineer it into a custom ROM. Is this the way or am I completely backwards? Someone please help. Thank-you
P.S. Admins - love the video at register page
