Two weeks ago I performed an OTA update my Galaxy S3 to JB and now I can now longer long-press to create an e-mail shortcut to a specific exchange email account. For example a shortcut icon to my office email, another one to my club email, and another to hotmail.
I decided to root my phone to see if this option would come back but it did not. I suppose on the positive side my phone is now rooted, but I really miss creating specific email shortcuts to my various exchange email accounts.
I tried to copy the e-mail app shortcut to my desktop but it only opens up to the last exchange email account viewed.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest regards,
Rudy.

Hi all,
I have just bought an HTC S620 and have been able to setup Activesync to an exchange server with no issues. I use alot of subfolders under my inbox to filter emails. I am receiving new emails no problem in my inbox and in the subfolders synched happily to my device.
I am only getting new email notifications on my home screen when emails arrive to my inbox. I would like to be able to see email notifications when they arrive in my subfolders.
I have a HTC S620
Running Windows Mobile Standard CE 05.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
Do I need to tweak a setting or acquire an app?
I had this problem too but how I got round was to delete all of the server filters and use the newer technique of smart folders. Im using OS X and Mail.app, but I think the new Outlook on windows should have smart folders too. With smart folders all of your mail is in the inbox but when you click on a smart folder its like a saved search so for example it can show all of the email from a certain sender.
This also makes it much easier to read email on the phone, because all of the email goes into the inbox you both have the advantage of seeing the new email notification, and you don't need to jump between folders to read it all, which can take many key presses.
You can of course still have regular mail folders for email that can't be automatically sorted.
By the way, general questions like this go in the general smartphone forum
Ah i thought i was beign device specific enough.
Exchange 2003 I am using is for work and they dont use/implement smart folders/
Anyone else have any ideas? i have the same problem, and my comany's mail server also doesnt support "smart folders".
TIA
Just wondering who out there uses windows live email via manila? I find it essential, however I have an issue with it, that I'm hoping one of you out there may have a workaround for.
I have several email addresses that I have accumulated over the years, which I redirect to my live account. As I have so much mail coming to my live account I like to use filters, so that as mail arrives it is sorted into organised folders. The problem is that when mail is pushed to my phone, it's only the non organised items in my inbox that trigger the manila tabs new mail bubble, or show up on the email tab of my contacts. This means that if a friend who I have a folder for in my live account, sends me an email. I will not know about it unless I randomly check the email tab and then select all emails. I will also not be able to have an email conversation with that person via the newly improved manila contacts tab
While I think of it, does anyone know how to change the from address, when sending email from their handset? I have it set correctly on the windows live site but it defaults to the @live.com address when sent from my phone.
Thanks in advance for any advice on this matter
Bueller?... Bueller?... Anyone?... Bueller?
Shameless Bump
Is no one else experiencing this?
Hi Folks,
Wonder if anyone can help me with this...
I am using an AT&T Tilt2
Stock ROM
TF3D Running
Email application that comes with the phone
Email server type POP3
Email sorting set to "Received"
When emails arrive, they are sorted based on when they arrive, not when they were sent by the sender/writer. Since the "Newest" emails are pulled down from the server first, this has the email traffic displayed on my phone out of order. Also, the phone displays the time of the email as the time the device actually received it, rather than when the email was sent by the sender (as is done by Outlook).
This drives me a little nuts as I get many, many emails in a day and sometimes the "conversation" seems a little dis-joineted as the messages are out of order...
So now my question: Is there a hack/fix/registry tweak that would sort email based on when it was sent by the sender rather than when it arrived at the phone?
I would rather not move away from the stock email application as I very much like the "Preview Envelope" in TF3D (although it would be great if there was a "Delete" button on the preview - but that's another topic!).
Thanks
Hi,
I am having a problem with setting up email on my UK T-mobile TP2. Since i got the handset last year I have to set up my email accounts (gmail) in 2 stages. Firstly, I use the email tab on the homescreen to add a new account. If i leave it at this stage I get an error about not being able to connect.
I stumbled across a solution, and that means I need to press the physical windows button on the front of my handset (brining up the grid of icons) then selecting the "email" icon. then I set up the email (again) from here. This then clears the problem for me.
However, I no longer have the email icon when I press the windows button and I cannot find it anywhere in windows?!?
Does anyone know where this icon points to in windows, as I cannot send/receive any email until i find it and set it up.
Please, anyone!?!?

Click to collapse
my email shortcut reads:
:MSINBOX -pickeroption
It is an internal command, that is why you can't find the executable file. Create a shortcut using the above info.
Ok,
(Cannot find any forum for just silly starter Android questions, so putting here since I have the Evo.)
Email.
I have two accounts set up and they are working on the Evo. (Hotmail & Earthlink) I do get that little notice on the envelope that an email has been received...but...I cannot tell which account has the email. This leads to two questions:
1) Is there any better (maybe app) way to switch between accounts? Having to make multiple taps to switch accounts seems huge waste of time when I would expect to just have both apps listed and chose which with one tap.
2) If not above, then how can I get two of those little envelope icons...one for each account. (My assumption would be that would split the notifications correctly and open the email associated with that icon)
Any help much appreciated as I find little when out searching.
Just to clarify, I am not looking to find a better way to 'combine' emails. I am not currently planning to suck everything into one account like GMail. I use separate accounts on purpose as they have different functions.
i guess you could probably get a separate email app from the market, use that for one of your accounts then use the other email app (the one that came with the phone) for the other account.
go to where you want to put the email inbox on a home screen, then long press, then click shortcut, then click mail inbox, then choose the inbox you want to see, presto a shortcut to that inbox. Hope this helps.
Edit: If you want to push these accounts through Gmail check out this post. You can add the accounts and show their inboxes seperately, and show them seperately on the home screen
