[Q] Testing rom - Sprint LG Optimus G

I'm no dev, but I've decided to try anyways. Well I believe I have a deodexed rom for the lgog, but I don't want to
test it on my phone, and I cant figure out how to run it in Android sdk. Any help? I've read quite abit of guides
but I can't run my rom..

I'm really guessing at this, but im sure a lot of developers have test phones, or use their own phone.
I'd be happy to test it.
But you shouldn't worry. It's almost impossible to hard brick a phone.
I'd also recommend insurance.

Hop onto irc. I'm sure you can find testers there.

personally i would go for ParanoidAndroid 2.18 (very stable) with either stock kernel which it comes with or trinity stable kernel. set it up with PAPrefs to Tablet (mid) and send her on her way. :fingers-crossed:

ELL O ELL you catch on quick
good day.
ROM for your sister?
STOCK.
Good lord don't flash a custom ROM on someone else's phone. If they wanna flash their own phone after learning about it then that's fine, but don't do it for them. Leave that **** stock.
for sister - Stock.
for myself - PA
Don't flash anything for anyone. Until they actually understand this whole rooting and flashing. People brick their phone BECAUSE they don't know what they're doing. Hack, I don't even recommend you to root her phone. Tell her to learn how root works and risks at least.
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel
Flash All of them
but seriously almost all the roms are fantastic. I personally use aokp and im contemplating trying out minco, but each rom has its differences. Decide what features in a rom are important to you. look through the OP's of each rom and decide which fits your needs the best.
I agree with those above, dont flash a rom on some one elses phone cuz inevitably they will run into some issue and blame you for "breaking" their phone.
Another ROM thread? Really?
And btw, we are back at calling them "sisters", like 40 years ago?

WTF! ATT g2 has multiview! what about us??

so i was fudging around with my friends phone and we found a new ROM for him to use. He has an att g2, and we stumbled upon this
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005266
. We installed it and found out that this ROM pretty much made his phone into a gnote2. he even has a fully functioning multiview! i was wondering if maybe one of the devs here could talk to the dev of the sgs2 ROM (shoman94) and see if his method could somehow help us. even though you may not have the sgs2, i suggest you check out his thread. im playing with my buddy's phone right now and everything is awesome, so i think the ROM is worth checking out just out of curiosity
I hope we get that that multview is nice
4.1.2 update just dropped internationally. Not official but a slew up new features are included. Especially multi view. Check AC

You're on a roll bro!
I wouldn't mind testing for you should you need it
Edit: Just saw your post in the Serenity ROM thread. By the looks of it, you must already have enough testers. I guess I can wait for you to 'officially' release it

did you try this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951144

So let's do this - round #2

Since the point of my last thread was not answered, I thought I'd try again. (And yes, I do realize why.)
So without the passive disappointment, what's the road map in terms of ROMs?
I understand AOSP, and probably AOKP, are coming soon.
Anyone heard anything about MIUI?
Or a Phablet ROM?
Oh, and thread monitor, I'm not mentally ill.

Once we get a stable AOSP rom, the ports will come out and yes that includes MIUI. And also........

I am not going to flame you.
Listen, this is not an extremely popular device. It is a great device. Just not a very popular one in terms of sales in the US. With that you can go one of three ways. Wish for things that are never to come, switch devices, or learn something.
XDA has great and I mean GREAT resources. You just have to get out of the device forum to find them. Chances are you won't have to spend any money either(if you own a computer). Go check out the developer forums. They are full of tutorials. None of this stuff is rocket science. Most of it is just reading..... and copy and pasting because someone already did it first. If you break it your out 300 bucks tops on Craigslist. We will help you.

Yo I agree. I came from plenty of phones with lots of Roms and just general stuff to flash the only phone I've had that was this bland in dev department was my other LG's the revolution and the spectrum. **** even the vivid had crap development but was a he'll of a lot better than this and that phone was a he'll of a lot more hidden buy the one x than this should be from the s3. **** all I keep reading is how there are so many great devs with this phone but there isint even any good stock moded Roms or more than 1 kernel. I switched from the vivid an amazing phone just because lack of roms. And I might have to again. Its sad that a phone this super can still suck. One thing I have been seriously considering is the lgog to nexus4 hack. And just getting my fix that way I've been hoping to see someone do some fixing to the hack to give us full sd card space and capacitive button fix. And I would have done it already.

**** I just checked the att side and they have way more work for the same dang phone. Even the Canadian edition has more work than us with the sprint. Its sucks for me considering I wanted the att edition. But was able to get the sprint edition for like 200 bucks cheaper than I could find the att. I just use my phone on WiFi so I don't care what service. But now how can I trade this for the att one? I can't that's how lol

Look I come from the GNex which has a bunch of ROMs. I don't complain to much though because I know that they are waiting to get the JB source. I could always switch back to GNex but I don't because I know the devs don't want to work to hard on something when another better thing is coming out soon. And besides they are working on CM9 which is still something. This phone did not have really good sales to be having much support. At least we have it.
Oh and there is someone who did release a JB ROM. It's just really buggy.
In the past 2 months we have sold more optimus G's than any other phone in our store. The BOGO is really helping this great phone out.
BTW today I sold 6 optimus G's, 1 galaxy s3 and no other phone. This has been pretty consistent sense the first of the year.
If its been like this for most other stores then its just a matter of time before some kid or experienced developer gives this phone the spotlight it deserves.

The AT&T OG and Sprint OG are not the same phone. Different radios, partition map to start. The Nexus 4 is also not the same device for the same reasons mentioned. A different partition map alone is enough to brick a device. The same thing applies to the GNex and other phones.
The LGOG software is broken. The source code is a mess. Joker has had to pull a number of fixes from from outside Sprint LGOG channels to fix things. Without a clean, stable and functional base, devs have had to spend more time fixing things than building ROMs. I personally have been building custom ROM's since the Palm T|C and the LGOG is by far the worst device I've ever deved on.
Not enough ROMs you say. Almost every stock based ROM is derivative and can hardly be counted as a true ROM. They are little more than themes and tweaks packaged as ROMs. Keeping that in mind the are only three true ROMs, Stock, AOSP and Hybrid. Everything beyond that is pretty wrapping.
If you consider build.prop tweaks, optimizations, ui changes and apk swaps a ROM then look at my Motorola deblur/debloat. It does all of those things on a dozen or more phones and is nothing more than a script. Calkulin did something similar over in Samsung land.
If you would like, I could very easily push out three or four different "ROMs" a day for whole week and turn this into the copycat nightmare the Evo 4G turned into. The other option is let us get a good stable stock base and AOSP base and let themers worry about what font or battery icon to use. BTW where are the themers, we could really use some.
I came from the photon and gnex ). Joker, marz, and shabby are 3 of the best devs I've encountered. With 2 out of 3 working on this device you know eventually we'll get something worth the wait.
I have a question for one of you though. Jellybean won't be out for a few months considering sprints rep for delayed updates could we expect to see aosp for ics and just not worry about jellybean for the moment? That would at least boost the amount of choices we have for now. enough to crave the flashaholics till work is finished with the jellybean based roms
Or was this the complications you were talking about? Even with ics

Just look at it this way. Dragons are coming. every dev is going to jump start as soon as jelly hits. Right now it's all on LG and Sprint.

I'm content with what we have now. I have helped a few friends find ROMs for their phones, and like Loki pointed out, it can be a nightmare. There is no way to differentiate ROMs on some phones. This is the first phone I have had that Joker, Th3Bill and Loki have dev'd for, but xboxfanj is excellent. AdriVelasquez also strikes me as being a real solid dev for us, although I don't have prior experience with him either.
I guess the point of my post is to point out that things ARE in fact happening. The ROMs we have are great and stable. I have not found a single ROM that I couldn't work with for a week or more. That certainly cannot be said for most ROMs. With the Epic 4G, there were a lot of ROMs, but some that I flashed made my phone completely useless from the onset.
AOSP, AOKP, MIUI, CM and PA I think will all make it to this phone. Realistically, aside from these, I agree with Loki's assessment. There are ROMs only in the sense that somebody changed one thing in the stock experience. Those five are the ones that I am most concerned with because they offer such a unique experience to the user.
Loki is moving, th3bill is extra busy. Im working 2 jobs plus kids and without my build box ATM. Xbox is making great progress in a way that will help us in the long run. We have another kernel dev that's helping out now. So calm down and let us work

I'm sick of baby's who can't take some simple complaining. Its not like we're saying **** you all your a waste of a person. Were complaining that something we own and paid good money for is not like we would like it to be or what we were hoping it would be. Some of us have gotten used to the idea of many roms and lots of things happening. Its not fair to yell at us for wondering why it's not the same with this device. There is no need to be a **** and attack people. Were not attacking any developers at best we are attacking the general development on this phone. **** for all you know we could be wishing that more devs had this phone and things like that. Don't just decide we're dicks because we want something. Treat everyone with respect. That goes for devs and users.

can i flash E975 roms on L01e?

Hi i know its noob to ask, but can i flash the rom file for the E975 or even the korean variant on the L01e? its damn sad that no one seem to develop a rom for the L01e.. even the official JB is not out.. so can i flash it?
no one has this model. try it yourself.
Which carrier are you on? I can check out the kernel configs to let you know if they are compatible. From what I remember, your display driver is different from ours so it may not be compatible. I'm pretty sure that was Docomo that that was the issue on.

i got this phone from Japan Seller, its an unlocked Docomo NTT version of L01E.
if u need any more info like the details do ask i'd be more than happy to provide
cos i saw the Korean F180KL version has 13mp cam its the same as the JP version. i'm on the IMM76L build and software version L01E10a. i saw some uploaded the c version but still its under ICS... hence i didnt bothered flashing it..
since other variants has been released with 4.2 hence i wondered if it might work .
anyway to config those kernels with the display?
*sidenote, from wad i know from my seller, its perma unclocked from Docomo so even if i flash it , i wont lose the unlock, but sadly i am also removed from their OTA updates.. so yea..
I believe L01 and F180 share the optimus g name only.
yea i know they may just be the same name, as per Xboxfan mentioned, is it possible to ammend some settings and it will work? since the TV function doesnt work outa Japan ,it doesnt matter even if i lose that function. Current i'm rotted with the help of jcase's thread, i didnt install the CWM tho, i would love to try and flash it out but seemingly that the unbrick option is also not catered to L01E, i dare not do so yet..
try as i might, i'm looking up to cook a rom specifically for this phone using the base of the sources but i'm really really REALLY new to this and frankly speaking, reading those threads up on this cooking has made me gone nowhere.. so my hope now is that what Xboxfan said is true and i might be able to get JB on this heck of a phone
When I get a chance, I will make you a kernel. Add me on gtalk and remind me from time to time if I don't have anything within a week or two. It shouldn't be hard. Your drivers aren't way different, but they are different enough to where Roms for other devices wouldn't work.

Stock Android

Im not sure if my tablet is 7.0, to be honest I just took it from my mom after she bought it and used it for 1 day and then left it in a drawer.
My model number is SM-T210, and the android that came with it is a bit slow so I wanted to install stock, anyone has a guide? and so I need a special android for it or can I install the same one that is on my Nexus 4 for example?
Thanks!
What if she ever found out her tabs missing? Or found you playing with it and she complained about the whole thing being messed up?
Anyway, to answer your question no, there is not a stock ROM, and if there is for your model its buggy, and probably has more lag then Samsung's touchwiz.
Sent from my SM-T217S using xda app-developers app
Dont worry it not like that when I said "took" I ment with permission from her.
Anyway, 2 Question:
1. if I install a custom ROM I imagine there will be no OTA for me anymore right? (Unless I got back to to smasung's ROM)
2. What is the fastest and most stable ROM/Kernel combo out there? I tried googling it but the information is very fragmented over the net.
Thanks!
You can't find anything cause they're is really no development. A lot of people aren't even helping answering questions the past couple days...its that slow.
Your best bet is to just root, backup, and play around with exposed modules and see what you can customize on your own, its what most of us do. Just Google it and read about it. Not a lot of us can help with exposed either, its just trial and error. If one thing fails, you just restore and try again.
Sent from my SM-T217S using xda app-developers app
Meaning I cant just install the same Android that is on my phone on my tablet? tablets need an android that is ment for them? and in other words im stuck with samsung's **** OS?
And what about installing nexus 7 OS on galaxy tab 3?
It has to be developed for our hardware, if you try to flash something that wasn't meant for your device you could end up with a brick.
We need sources for our device, or we need to buy a cyanogen mod developer one of our devices so they can do it. Its not as easy as one might think.
