I just got my phone Jtagged because it was bricked from what i believe was triangle away.
Anyways, i go to backup with titanium back, process starts and its stuck at 17% for a while, i get a text message and read it. I then slide down the notification bar to go back into the backup, i press it and it just goes right back to the home page of my galaxy s3. so try going into titanium backup from the main page and it says "configuring data" i believe. So i wait a while on that screen and it just says configuring data, the notication bar shows tit.backup runnin the backup still at 17&. So i hold the power button and hit reset, and now the phone wont turn on, wont go into download or recovery. Completely bricked like last time. I cant believe this, anything i do just bricks my phone.
Also, i unlocked the bootloader with EZ unlock, i did this befor using titanium backup. Could this have caused it?
It must be EZ unlock that bricked my phone both times!! **** sakes, have to jtag again, there goes another $85 to JTAG it.
i used this methon to root. which says to download ez unluck and unlock the bootloader. I am now finding out that EZ unlock is for Verizon only. So ****in pissed right now.

If you can look at one of those chinese/asian cell phone storesyou will probably find a jtag there. The one I go to is in Barnaby Crystal Mall. My phone is also bricked, but since I have it on a three year contract I get the repair for free. I also think they should do something about the version crap. I9300 gets all the good roms, and i747m barely gets any.

So you powered off, held volume down and power and you can't get into download?
I'd try a jig if you can get one, or they actually are pretty easy to make, I made one to have on hand and it's nice to have. But it sounds like you could get a phone swap before a jig would be shipped

Indeed. When i hold vol up and power or vol down and power, the blue led blinks once and stays solid. I no longer have access to either dl or recovery

I have a friend that is also a tech. He said the same thing. As long as you can't power up, that means they can't either. It should be covered.
I suggest that you watch Qbking77 videos before flashing any roms your unsure about because he said you first have to install CM7 on it first then install CM9.

I think this is a great suggestion but the only problem is people seem to not want to read OP's, read threads thoroughly or even want to watch videos. Unfortunately its easier to ask repetitive questions and sometimes just leap into things with out doing proper research.
Hey if I had a 200 phone which is 350 or more on the streets with no insurance. You can best believe I am being careful and reading everything twice before I start flashing...lol
I attempted to flash newest CWM and got a brick. The phone will not boot into any mode and I pulled the battery and held the three keys and cannot get it to boot into any mode. Is there a way to flash somehow back to stock and start over?
If you can't detect any life at all from the phone after attempting to charge it or boot into recovery or download mode then I'm sorry but your phone is now hard bricked.. There is no way to fix it unless you get a jaytag repair through mobiletechvideos.com

I do not think I did it with wrong files. I made a tar from the img file I got from clockworkmod.com so I am sure it was clean. I am wondering if perhaps it screwed up because I had changed build.prop to say the device was "Galaxy Nexus" for Wallet to work properly. And maybe that mod I made confused it and somehow flashed something for a Nexus instead and that is why it wont function. If I had it to do again, I would have changed the build.prop back for few moments while I changed the recovery image. All of this was simply to update CWM to newest 6.0.2.8 since ROM Manager told me there was new one. I wish I had ignored it and just said no. Is there no way to hard reset this thing somehow with ODIN or a key combination that say a Samsung employee tool may "flash factory" to it? Seems odd I cannot fix this on my own. No tool nothing?
I've heard the wallet needs to be reset and all that before anything new is flashed.
I haven't flashed anything since the wallet, so I haven't looked into it yet.

Look for JTAG repair. If you can't even get it to turn on, that's what needs to be done.
It's not a home job - to tools cost several times more than the service and require more specialised knowledge.
If you can get it to turn on, look into making or buying a micro-usb jig - cheap and might work if you have time to mess around.

I am certain that is the reason I have hard brick. If I had changed build.prop....changed the recovery with mobile odin....then gone and changed it back afterwards...I am sure it would not have broken the phone. At any rate, I just will have to await warranty replacement since I get mixed readings about this MTV solution that costs almost 100 bucks.
No need to change it back. Once wallet is set up and your card activated, you can set your build.prop back to t999 and Wallet will still work perfectly, it only needs to say Nexus for the install/activation.

Again, if you simply change your build.prop back to the correct values for the T999 afyer you activate Google Wallet, the entire issue would be avoided and Mobile Odin should be safe to use. I know its too late for that for the OP, but hopefully someone somewhere can learn from this.

I already tried taking the battery out and waiting 30 to 60 secs, hitting the power bottom without the battery then putting the battery right in and trying to get into recovery mode.
Everytime i plug the phone into the computer via USB, the computer makes a noise like it recognized the device but then asks me for the "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" drivers. I think i found those, not sure yet... Please help... I can't sent the phone to customer service since i rooted the phone my warranty is void.

The issue was that he installed the wrong rom on his device. Happens all the time with the t989. He probably flashed a rom for an i9100. Both devices are marketed as the samsung galaxy s2, which confuses new users.
Try using Odin to flash the stock ROM. can you get it in download mode?

What if i went to tmo store and try to exchange the phone without unrooting? If just restore factory set will they gonna noticed it?
Use Triangle Away to reset binary flash status,
when it asks to return to download mode or reboot normally select download mode.
Plug into computer and flash the official Stock Odin file mentioned in above link and perform a factory reset once finished by booting to stock recovery.
I returned my phone rooted within the 14 days to exchange for a new one. Do you all think there could be any negative repercussions such as them making me pay full price for the new one once they find the "defective" one was rooted? I was a bit worried at the store but the took it back no questions asked.

YOU CAN RETURN ROOTED IN THEORY !
Ive returned rooted phones numerous times,I did with my s4 got it First, then went and got a HTC one didn't like it so went back 3 day later they gave me my same rooted s4 I exchanged to them 3 days prior.... and I gave them the Rooted htc one lol.... them sales reps, dont check or care.ONLY unless you get a sales rep whos a xda member and tech savy, he may check just to be curious.
When you factory reset it just leave phone NOT setup.
Usually they open the box to do a reset but u tell them u already did, as they will see its on the out of the box setup screen.
Not to mention if u do reset and setup before u return it, just hit menu hide apps/hide super user
If they boot into recovery theyll know but reps never do that not on a return or exchange. They just wana get u in and out, not like they are techs. And all they do is put it in return inventory to ship back as a NOW parts phone for refurbs.

youll be fine they toss them phones into a pile and ship back and they become refurbs samsung cleans them up and flashes firmware and sells as a refurb.
They cannot be tracked to you. Once its past your hands into the tmobile stores hands and u leave free and clear , it was the stores job to catch or deny you a return.Never would come back to haunt you, if did just say your clueless , store checked phone and accepted it.

Yeah OP since you are only exchanging for a different color, i don't think they will mind. Its usually for warranty purposes that root matters cause in theory you can change your kernel which could do damage to your device. So you should be fine.

If they boot into recovery theyll know but reps never do that not on a return or exchange. They just wana get u in and out, not like they are techs. And all they do is put it in return inventory to ship back as a NOW parts phone for refurbs.

ABSOULTELY NOT
youll be fine they toss them phones into a pile and ship back and they become refurbs samsung cleans them up and flashes firmware and sells as a refurb.
They cannot be tracked to you. Once its past your hands into the tmobile stores hands and u leave free and clear , it was the stores job to catch or deny you a return.Never would come back to haunt you, if did just say your clueless , store checked phone and accepted it.

hello everybody
can someone help me, i was running fl24, then i wanted to update to official jb and i got and error on the manual update. What do i do so i can get this phone back in working order
Find a one click in the development forums of this phone. Put tour phone in download mode. Volume down and power. Hold both until green text comes up. Push volume up. Connect to the computer and run the one click. Btw you can find rhe one clicks on rwilcos website.
sent from my Provari with a mini rda!
Do i need to download a specific one like gb27, fl24, etc?
The one toy want to upgrade to. If your on sprint, gb27 will be the one you want (official jellybean).

similar problem
hi everyone -
i have screwed up royally. after reading and reading and searching and searching (all day - my eyes are bleeding at this point)...i have decided to take a shot and post and see if there is a solution out there.
please accept my apologies ahead of time if this has been covered somewhere else, but i am at a complete loss and really need some guidance.
my phone is bricked but i have not found an exact scenario to mine.
on boot, my phone displays the same as the image above that @stevediaz posted.
i can access the download menu (cannot access restore menu) BUT my device is not recognized by any machine or by odin, so i am unable to flash anything on it and i have a steady blue LED light.
is there a work around to this? is there anything i can do to get odin/my pc to recognize my device? if i can't fix it myself i plan to send it to mobiletechvideos before i completely give up and bury my beautiful brick.
i have rooted my devices before and have never bricked a phone. i'm pretty sure i just used the incorrect rom which is a horrible terrible rookie mistake...one which i am terribly embarrassed about.
i will never make this mistake again! ever ever ever. i am looking at my beautiful phone just sitting there looking at me with accusing & accurate eyes. sighs.
if posting this here is not kosher, please let me know, but i figured since this thread is the only one i have found with a situation resembling mine, it would be a good place to start.
thanks in advance for any help offered.

You have no choice but to get a j-tag, you screwed up the partitions and that's why it won't recognise your device and the steady blue light is a complete hard brick

Does your device display a yellow triangle before the screen above and say GT-i9100? You already have the blue brick of death, so mobiletechvideos is your only hope, because right now your phone has drivers from the international version which disables the usb so the pc will not recognize it. After getting it back from mobiletech, ensure you flash something from this forum ONLY. It must be from the Epic 4G touch SPH-D710 in order to work on your phone.

got the phone back...and it works, except that they installed the sprint stock rom instead of the virgin mobile stock rom as requested. researching now to flash a virgin mobile rom, but given my previous experience, safe to say i am uber paranoid.
