Ok I saw someone mention this is some thread but can't remember where and searching for terms like manually boot into recovery is running me in circles so I thought this was valid and should be useful. * I recently flashed CWM5 and a new stock OTA rom and now, once the phone is powered down, pressing volume down and power button results in quick boot and not hboot/ recovery. * I do most modding with Ninjamorph and occasionally I will boot loop and need to be able to manually get back to recovery after a battery pull. (not good with ADB yet) Ideas?
Have you gone into Settingsower: disable fastboot? If so, pull the battery and try vol down + power.
I know some users are having difficulty with CWM5, I'm still using CWM3.0.0.8 cuz it works fine for me.
Nice dog... I didn't find it under 'power' cause the OTA doesn't have that in settings however, under 'applications' at the bottom you can disable fast boot. I'm thrilled. Worked great and earned you a thanks. Fyi, CWM5 (given that this was a non-issue) has been working great for me. I was even so daring as to flash it from Rom Manager... Thanks again dude.
That's what XDA is all about man. I'll update my CWM3x to CWM5x when I get tired of seeing my Rom Manager deny me from using any options
I'm currently trying to downgrade my Acer a100 to hc 3.2 from the glitched up version of ics 4.0. I found several threads with a link to the download but the link appears to be dead. When I try to download it appears to try to fetch it but ends as download unsuccessfully. Does anyone have an answer for this? Thanks.

Have you tried just doing a factory reset on the ICS your on to see if it clears anything up?
If you need it, Here<< is the post I used to downgrade to 3.2.1, keep in mind that you will most likely need to factory reset after the tablet reboots. It might hang on the android logo. Just power down then follow the hard reset from the recovery to get it to go.
Yes. I tried the factory reset but it still hangs up when using apps, browser, email, etc. Constant hang ups. Btw, I got the from downloaded but now it will not extract. Any ideas? I've tried win zip, unrar, and archidroid to no avail.

You don't extract it. You need to rename it "update.zip" (make sure not to rename it "update.zip.zip"). Place it on the root of a freshly formatted microSD card. Then put it in the powered down tablet. Press and hold simultaneously the power button, and the volume down rocker (the one closest to the corner), until the tab vibrates. Then release, and you will see the it finding and installing the update file. After it restarts, if it hangs on the android logo (give it 5-10 minutes), perform the factory reset.
Gotcha, so there is noway to load it using the native memory or internal memory on the device? Or would that be a no-no anyways in the case it crashes during loading lol?
Thanks in advance!

You never want to flash from internal memory, if something goes wrong you'll lose the file in the middle flashing right after your stuff is formatted. It may or may not format /data but if it does all of it, there goes internal SD.
Update.zip method is run from external SD I don't think it even checks internal SD when looking.

Ok. I see. But I'm still a little confused. I've finally got the file downloaded and placed on the sd card. Which I might add was ridiculous as apparently it can't be placed on there manually without placing the file on a pc and loading it that way. Nonetheless, how exactly do I flash it now. I have it named update.zip.
Sorry for the confused remarks and questions. I'm use to Windows and have little experience with Linux based platforms. It seems as if Acer intentionally locked a lot of features on the a100 such as host usb ports, movable file systems, etc. Unless I'm dreaming here lol. Either way I like the tablet for the price.
Thanks.

Omg, thank you so much for posting the links to get the HC 3.2 stock ROM! You are a lifesaver. I had issues after an update where the wifi on this tablet wouldn't connect to any router. I had almost given up until I found your post. Now I have ICS 4.0.3 on this thing!!!
I also have the same problem no one can answer.
OK. Finally got it... I think. Here's what I had to do. Because the rom download kept faulting out randomly on download, I ended up using my laptop to download a program called download accelerator plus (dap) from old version.com. I then used its download manager to complete the download. I know... crazy, but it did the trick. The rest was per the directions given by other users on xda.

Hey, really sorry to post in a dead thread, but I can't find a working download link for 3.2 anywhere; it appears that the site is down. You guys seem to have downloaded it successfully though, so I was wondering if maybe one of you could put it on rapidshare or something? I very much need it, and I would appreciate a working download link. Thanks.

This one is 3.2.1. Remember if you are gong from 4.0 to 3.2, after the update goes through and it reboots, it might hang on the android logo. You need to factory reset to get it back.
1. Place the rotation lock switch in the up position
2. Press and hold the Volume down button, which is located farthest from the rotation lock
3. With the Volume down button held, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds then release it. Continue holding the Volume down button.
4. Once the tablet vibrates, switch the rotation lock on and off repeatedly while still holding the Volume down button.
5. Release the Volume down button and stop switching the rotation lock once the "Erasing Userdata..." message appears in the upper left corner of the screen
6. Once the factory reset has been completed your tablet will load to the Welcome screen.
7. Your Factory Data Reset has completed now follow the onscreen steps to setup your tablet.

It will work on any ROM, its built into the boot process, so yeah, use it on anything installed it'll reset.
Edit: I was assuming you meant the reset thing, not the process of downgrading.

Unit Galaxy SMT800 ANK1 firmware
While working on theming the framework-res.apk and flashing to device. The tablet will no longer boot into the device. Have tried holding the vol down+home+power, Power button only, vol up+home+power. I can not get the device to go into recover were I have a backup rom. Tried odin twrp 2.8.4.0 and device just boots back into normal mode and sits on the Samsung screen. Never had a device I could not shut off and then boot into recovery. Need you help!

Hi,
Unpack your original stock firmware and take from it only the recovery.img file. Pack it now in the .tar format. Then load the new file recovery.tar into your tablet in the download mode by Odin. If your tablet doesn't take the download mode, use resistor JIG of 301 kOm as it is specified here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/how-start-download-mode-resistor-jig-t2999838.
Finally was able to get into recovery mode after approx. 15 times by holding home+vol up then pressing power. This had to be done while the usb cable was plugged in. Otherwise it would not work. Why this time it worked, I have no idea!

Turning off auto reboot should just flash twrp and not reboot. Then you can reboot into recovery by doing the button combo. Any glad you gotnit fixed and hopefully you can get the theme working
Hi, I am also stuck on the boot logo screen and have tried power+volume down+home but that only brings me to download mode. I can't seem to get to recovery mode with power+volume up+home no matter how many times I try. I also tried rerooting using odin but that didn't do anything. If it matters, this happened after I went into ultra power saving mode (which turned my screen all black except for the notification panel which didn't have anything except the volume bar and settings button) it looked like my tab was stuck so I rebooted it and now I'm stuck. I tried looking up other solutions but none of the button combos work. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh man this thing with the framework-res.apk is driving me crazy. Have tired several version of apktool and all the same. Tablet will lockup on boot. Even with just decompile and recompile without any changes. Tried several of the old tricks of copy the signature and resources to the recompiled apk and it doesn't work either. Have one more trick to try but not today. After having to restore a backup rom 3 times I am done for day.
You have to downlad Odin 3 (and other files you will need like OPS and md5 files) just run it as administrator and make sure u checked one package, auto reboot and protect OPS.When it finish your device will probably work

EDIT: Forgot to mention that first thing I tried after rebooting to the stuck logo was repeat what I did to get it to function but that only went to a screen that said Installing updates with a blue percentage.
Unfortunately I spoke too soon. My homescreen was completely black after the usual new tablet set-up (notification/menu was fine, even multi window bar OK) so I tried rebooting it again and now I'm back to first base, stuck on the logo. Sigh. Currently downloading the xra firmware to flash it and see how that goes.

I make only a few changes in the decompile. Maybe 15 or so pngs and 1 color value in the colors.xml. Compiled and locked up on Samsung screen. Samething for decompile and recompile without any changes. Tried 2 versions of apktool, still have beta 3r to try. My appt.exe is dated 1/13/2013. The only left to do is decompile, edit all the images. Recompile since there are no errors during the process. Then unzip the folders to the desktop, drag and drop all the pngs in each folder to the original systemui.apk. This will work or has worked for those apk's that could not be edited in the past. I am open to anyone has something else to suggest.

I belive that method should work i guess. Um if I am correct, discreet blue theme flashes over the modified folders with the pngs and all that. I think it replaces the old stuff in the systemui and puts in the new one but the apk stays the same just with custom pngs inside of it. Thats my idea on how it works I guess.
I've had my G4 for a while and it's been rooted and running Xposed for well over a month without trouble. I rebooted the phone yesterday and it went into a bootloop. I let it churn for a while before finally removing the battery, fortunately it started up right after but had to go through the tedious "Android is starting. Optimizing app 1 of ...." screen before I could use the device.
I hadn't changed much of anything lately and I really don't know what could be causing this. I suspect it could possibly be related to the recent Android System Webview update that was pushed out by the Google Play app but that is only a guess.
To correct this I will likely remove Xposed... if that doesn't work I'll have to restore an unrooted image.
This occurring with anyone else??
My phone gets stuck on the red "Verizon" boot screen if I select "power off and restart" instead of just powering the phone down and using the hardware power button. When you run into your issue, are you doing "power off and restart" too?
Pulling the battery and powering on the device seems to resolve the issue (for now) when that happens, but it doesn't happen if I just do a normal shutdown & turn-on. I've been running Xposed for over a month too, and haven't loaded any new modules recently except for G4 Tweakbox (the issue was happening before I used G4 TB, so I know that app isn't the culprit)
FWIW: Verizon 10B & Xposed v74
Yeah I'm using the reboot option from the power menu. I'll try power off... then restart manually when I get home from work. Thanks for the suggestion!
EDIT:
You were correct, Thanks!
I had the issue of staying on the red verizon screen, removed sd card and it booted up. Swapped to a better card and no issues. Just my .02

My pleasure! Glad I could help since that reboot vs. power-off & manual restart was the only thing that ended up being a possible solution for my issue too. I couldn't tell you why that's happening or how we can fix it, but at least we know how to avoid the issue from happening in the first place now!!
Hi all, my Tab S 10.5 (T800) was running stock MM with no root. I tried using the Adoptive storage enabler patch from this site. After installing the TWRP using Odin and flashing the adoptable storage patch, I am stuck in that stupid reboot loop. I did selected "Allow modification to system partition..." in TWRP. I managed to apply the batch and after a number of attempts boot successfully, changed to internal storage etc but still getting random reboots all the time now. Read more on the site; then did cache clear, factory reset via recovery and then also flashed back stock MM firmware - everything successful but still getting random reboots.
Just to mention, the tablet has recently had a brand new original battery so that is not the problem. It was working fine before I attempted the TWRP/Adoptive storage patch or stock firmware flash and now getting random reboots (sometimes right at startup logos and sometimes soon after booting up).
This appears to be a very common one on these Samsung tablets so no clear reason anywhere why it happens. Any suggestion for a quick fix for this please. I am getting random reboots at the moment all the time since I tried flashing the recovery/patch/stock firmware. Any help would be appreciated please...
update
Just to provide quick update and info:
Purely by hit and trial, I have found that if I keep hold of the power button (pressing it constantly since power up), it goes past the initial boot loop consistently and boots the device up. But then, once it hits the limit for holding the power button (think 30 secs), it vibrates and turns itself off (which I think is normal behaviour). So I thought this is interesting to share as not something I have read anywhere else. Not sure what difference it makes to the startup by holding down on the power button but that does not appear make it loop. Of course, this is not a solution as the tablet eventually shuts down after 30 secs of holding the power button.
The power button itself seems fine and not broken/damage or anything - clicks fine and solid and works fine every time. Also the random restarts does not happen in recovery/download mode so I take it the power button is not faulty as else, it should be happening for everything.
Again, requesting everyone for some help please as I am a bit stuck what to try next.... thanks in advance!
anyone pls...?
Bump again... in the hope one of the experts will jump in to help!!
Thanks in advance
I'm experiencing the same exact issue, The tablet will power up to the setup screen and I can almost finish the setup process but then it vibrates and powers down. PLEASE... someone, chime in and help with this problem.
Thanks In Advance
