i might be worrying a bit too much but i paid $550 for this phone and i want it to be as close to perfect as possible
first - my battery goes down in standby + WCDMA/GSM auto mode (about 5% an hour drain? ill post a usage screenshot)
second - when i pinch in homescreen to get overview of all 7 screens, there is a slight lag (about half a second)
third - my phone signal fluctuates quite a bit. if i hold it in my hand, it goes from 4G 3/4 bars to no bars to EDGE to maybe 1 bar of 4G
fourth - my power button is a wee bit wobbly
the battery problem/reception is slightly better after "network refresh" by a tmobile rep but still not the greatest
I'd consider rooting and trying out some custom roms

Not sure flashing a different rom will help. You should have a 1% drop per hour with the screen off. Do you have motion features enabled? How many programs do you have updating via the Internet? Facebook, Twitter email etc. I would suggest you find the root cause first. There are a couple of monitor apps available that should help you narrow down the issue.

Calm down young one. People are trying to help. I tried to address your first issue and saw some questionable advice. No offense intended towards those that took the time to help. I use gsm auto. The preferred settings makes the phone search for that band and can drain battery in weak signal areas.
2. No idea why you have lag. I do not.
3. I believe the radio is located towards the bottom left. Covering it with your hand can affect signal strength. Also toggle data off then back on forces the phone to require the towers closest to you and may help in some situations.
4. A little wobble to the power button is not unusual.
Next time provide more details such as the rom version.
To the person that asked about motion features. From my understanding those features eat battery because they are always active. Polling, looking for motion.
If anything I posted is wrong, please let me know.

I also have a case. It is not a death grip issue like some phones have. I have seen a one or two bar drop when moving the phone from my right hand to my left. I have large hands so it could be different for others.

ok thank you for taking time to answer my questions
for now ill just use it as it is and depending on how it performs, take it to Tmobile
&& do you recommend draining battery to 0% to calibrate it?
Never drain the battery to zero. You can damage cells. I killed a hd2 battery back a few years ago before understanding how batteries work. Your drain on the battery is probably related to an app or setting.

can you explain how batt. calibration work?
I can but it would be a rehash and long winded. Google is your friend. Search battery maintenance and android. Reseting stats is a bit old at this point. There is an app in the play store that does it. I use battery monitor widget for detailed info on my battery. It also allows you to set radio preferences.

I need a few toro plus users to confirm that builds I'll be pulling from AOKP will be functional for y'all.
I plan on adding ToroPlus to the rotation here;

But I'm not willing to push out builds every couple days to silent testers.
I just want confirmation that it boots and (my main concern) you get data access.
So if any of you know any ToroPlus users looking for more AOKP action...
Send 'em over. I'm not going to bother if I don't get any responses.

Dear all,
On Aug 6, 2012 I had purchased One V as an immediate replacement to my Nokia 5230.
There were two reasons why I had purchased this phone
It was an Android.
It was HTC phone.
I was overall not satisfied with the performance of the phone as there was a good amount of lag time. By performance I do not mean games or videos. I mean the time taken to load the "All Apps" menu when i touch/press the key.
Hence I upgraded its Software to 2.24.720.1. Trust me this decision was one which i regret badly, reason, the performance went from bad to sluggish.
I was asked to do 'Hard Reset' by HTC Call Center and did the same as per the procedure given in the mail.
This hardly made any difference to the performance.
Today I had been to the service center of the HTC, they too did same and yet again the performance is sluggish.
Now here is what i seek your help at:
Will rooting and installing Gingerbread help in overcoming this issue?
If yes, please help further.
You can't install Gingerbread. Switching to another launcher mgiht help, or installing another ROM such as Cyanogenmod but these are still in beta and will void your warranty.
Start with the launcher and see if it helps.

The launcher is the application that you see when you use your phone, there are several launchers on Android.
Here's an example:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en
I personally found go launcher and apex launcher to be the best fits for me when I first got the phone. Apex is a bit snazzier looking, go a bit calmer looking but a bit faster as far as what I recall. Haven't used Go in awhile though but I hear it's still in good shape.
How bad is the lag? I noticed once in awhile there would be a slight delay but really I havent had any problems with my One V as far as speed is concerned. If you are waiting like 5 seconds every time you try to do anything it could be a deeper problem. If its just a momentary lag then it could just be that the phone isn't as powerful as the top end phones.
I know that feel bro....i felt the same way.....i was scared to root it, but it was the best decision i ever made, i overclocked it, installed custom rom and its just awesome.....

Pls help on overclocking
I imagine rooting and putting a better kernel/rom on it would help regardless, but if its actually lagging 5-10 seconds per click you might consider getting it checked at a store. Maybe others can give some insight but I know my One V never lagged 10 seconds even with stock software on it unless I was starting a relatively intense app/game. normal opening of browsers, im, sms, phone, etc might have lagged a couple seconds but rarely/never 5-10 and I never had to restart the phone daily. If you've already started rooting it will possibly fix the problems anyways since sometimes its a software install issue but if you still have a pristine device might be worth getting it checked since rooting and unlocking the bootloader (required to root) void the warranty)
Also, overclocking is done by putting a custom kernel on your phone which allows for overclocking. There are a ton of tutorials that are more well written than anything we'd post for you in here. Very well explained step by step guides for the one v specifically.

Changing the build.prop wouldn't change the easter egg (or would it?). You need the build fingerprint

If they don't release any fixes by the end of this month for the bugfest 4.2.1 is, Google just isn't trying hard enough.
This Bluetooth problem has made me seriously hate my phone. I can't wait for it to be fixed.
I'm not sure if it's the ROM I'm on, but it's definitely gotten worse. If I make a bluetooth connection to my LG stereo headset (ie: Pandora), it'll work until I pause the music. When I go back a few minutes later, the song plays, but there is no sound. I can't even resolve it by reconnecting the headphones, toggling BT, or even toggling airplane mode. I have to physically restart my phone. Then, BT will work until I pause it for more than a few minutes again.
I really, really hope this is fixed with 4.2.2.

Do some reading about what other people experience before you flash. This is the latest OS coming from a company that regularly doles out beta products, you know.
Oh boy a 0.0.1 version difference!
Not to mention the only change doesn't even effect Galaxy Nexus users. At least, for me. My bluetooth works just fine.

I just flashed my friends S3 (d2ltetmo) last night (DocHoliday77s reworked CM 10.1) found HERE. He called me this morning telling me that he has no internet, and very little, if any, cellular signal. I had him toggle his mobile data, airplane mode, and had him get reset on the network. He said none of these steps has changed his signal. I am a little confused by what he is experiencing exactly though. He claims to have signal for calls and texts, but also said he was at home last night where he used to get 4 bars of LTE but discovered that now, his phone couldn't find a network. So I'm thinking radio issue right? Sure. Then he goes on to explain to me that even when he has signal (which I guess he has from time to time) he still has no internet can't browse the web, can't run pandora etc, so now I'm thinking modem. Can anyone help with this confusing issue? Is it radio or Modem? Can anything be done to fix it?
Thank you all in advance!!!
Check the Imei in Settings - About Device - Status.
If its zero, pm me for further help. If its still got the correct imei number (dont post it), just let us know here.

I can't confirm if the number is correct however I can report that the imei is not zeros.

Have him flash back to stock to see if thst fixes it. Theres also another modem you could try probably a couple pages back in the thread. (Sorry haven't got to cleaning up yet, will try to this week).
Did this all happen from his very first boot up of cm? Or did it seem to work at first?
Before flashing anything else, try ktoonsez cm kernel. Maybe itll help this. Others reported it fixing other issues the had...

I can flash him back to stock to see where the issue stands and if that fixes it what will that mean? I would like to try the kernel and modem first though, any objections to that?
It's hard to answer the question of when did it start, he didn't seem to have any issue at my home. However immediately upon leaving my home the issue seems to begin, so I guess I would call it from the start.
EDIT: When you say "The thread" are you speaking of your thread that I am familiar with sir?
Thank you for all your help Doc I'm glad you have our backs on this!

Definitely try the modem and kernel first, (modem first, then test. Then kernel and test), and yes, the thread im referring to is the Info/FAQ thread I have here in Q&A. (Sorry bout that)
If the kernel or modem dont help try going back to stock. If the only thing fixing it this, it just means theres something not working correctly in the rom. A rom/T999L issue, if you will. Itd mean we will have to do a good bit more investigating to figure it out.

Btw, dont rule out the possibility of it being a problem on T-Mobiles end. This is why I wanted to know if he lost the functionality immediately after the flash, or if it worked fine right before and after flashing.

I understand and will do exactly that. I have NOT ruled out that it is Tmos fault and, in fact, that is likely being that we just got the LTE and the towers are still having the bugs worked out of them. I am hoping to report back tomorrow or maybe even later tonight after EST with my findings, thanks again sir!
Flashed the modem and all seems well! Thanks a million Doc!!! My friend is very happy and sends his thanks as well!!
Edit: Issue is half fixed, if I toggle airplane mode the phone will have data for a time to toggle data produces the same result but eventually it lose all signal, after the modem and the kernel have been flashed...
Try the kernel next. Then if needed, try odin flashing the latest firmware, and a factory reset will possibly be required as well.

This is starting to sound more hardware related though...the behavior is just odd.
