Dear all,
On Aug 6, 2012 I had purchased One V as an immediate replacement to my Nokia 5230.
There were two reasons why I had purchased this phone
It was an Android.
It was HTC phone.
I was overall not satisfied with the performance of the phone as there was a good amount of lag time. By performance I do not mean games or videos. I mean the time taken to load the "All Apps" menu when i touch/press the key.
Hence I upgraded its Software to 2.24.720.1. Trust me this decision was one which i regret badly, reason, the performance went from bad to sluggish.
I was asked to do 'Hard Reset' by HTC Call Center and did the same as per the procedure given in the mail.
This hardly made any difference to the performance.
Today I had been to the service center of the HTC, they too did same and yet again the performance is sluggish.
Now here is what i seek your help at:
Will rooting and installing Gingerbread help in overcoming this issue?
If yes, please help further.
You can't install Gingerbread. Switching to another launcher mgiht help, or installing another ROM such as Cyanogenmod but these are still in beta and will void your warranty.
Start with the launcher and see if it helps.

The launcher is the application that you see when you use your phone, there are several launchers on Android.
Here's an example:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en
I personally found go launcher and apex launcher to be the best fits for me when I first got the phone. Apex is a bit snazzier looking, go a bit calmer looking but a bit faster as far as what I recall. Haven't used Go in awhile though but I hear it's still in good shape.
How bad is the lag? I noticed once in awhile there would be a slight delay but really I havent had any problems with my One V as far as speed is concerned. If you are waiting like 5 seconds every time you try to do anything it could be a deeper problem. If its just a momentary lag then it could just be that the phone isn't as powerful as the top end phones.
I know that feel bro....i felt the same way.....i was scared to root it, but it was the best decision i ever made, i overclocked it, installed custom rom and its just awesome.....

the lag is bad, minimum of 5 seconds n takes up to 10 seconds. i'll try n put up a video, is youtube link allowed in here?
Daily i need to "restart" the phone twice.
I think if i installer the matter could go worse

Pls help on overclocking
I imagine rooting and putting a better kernel/rom on it would help regardless, but if its actually lagging 5-10 seconds per click you might consider getting it checked at a store. Maybe others can give some insight but I know my One V never lagged 10 seconds even with stock software on it unless I was starting a relatively intense app/game. normal opening of browsers, im, sms, phone, etc might have lagged a couple seconds but rarely/never 5-10 and I never had to restart the phone daily. If you've already started rooting it will possibly fix the problems anyways since sometimes its a software install issue but if you still have a pristine device might be worth getting it checked since rooting and unlocking the bootloader (required to root) void the warranty)
Also, overclocking is done by putting a custom kernel on your phone which allows for overclocking. There are a ton of tutorials that are more well written than anything we'd post for you in here. Very well explained step by step guides for the one v specifically.

In case thread title is not clear, in CM7 the Sprint VVM app I installed tells me "You have No Voicemail Messages" but when I *dial* in to my real voicemail box, I have a lot of "new" messages even though I deleted them earlier using the VVM app.
There. I asked it. This is the "Q&A" section. I have a "Q". Does anyone have a (helpful, non-noob-flaming) "A"?
Because I already tried asking this in the "General" section (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042171 ) but didn't get any love. Maybe someone here is up for the challenge.
(And no, I don't want to "run away!" to Google Voice.)
Apologies if it's been solved somewhere already, but I really did spend a long time googling this and couldn't find a solution.
Thanks in advance..
I would try uninstalling it, reinstalling the app with data to start with, then make sure your voice mail is set to "my carrier."
Thanks for the tip: I uninstalled and started over, only this time ignoring step 10 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982966 . Works like a charm this time! Mad props to the rocker.
Going to try this now! I have recently also had this issue on the MIUI rom (v1.4.22). Hopefully this works for me as well.

Nice analogy. I'm just glad I wasnt so noobish that I created a 'what Rom should I use' thread. Well... I didn't create a thread like that on xda.

this seems like alot to ask but im not very confident with the entire S-off and tacoroot processes required for rooting the newest version of the stock software of the HTC Droid Incredible 2. Im more of a Motorola type person and have never had a HTC phone and Im asking if someone could possibly make a tacoroot and s-off walkthrough video for 6.01.605.05 710RD software version of the Dinc2. I have not found one on the internet any reply, video, video link, would be very helpful. I have looked through numerous forums and am not confident undertaking the process on my own. Again thank you for even reading this, anything would be helpful

Not really. No point in a guaranteed voided warranty and a restricted unlock. Anyone can get S-OFF, so why not do it and not deal with all the workarounds for HTCDev unlock?

I was hoping someone would make a video also because this new software seems a lot harder to root than the old one was. Hey thanks, sometimes you just have to sit back and take pride in a good screw up.
i might be worrying a bit too much but i paid $550 for this phone and i want it to be as close to perfect as possible
first - my battery goes down in standby + WCDMA/GSM auto mode (about 5% an hour drain? ill post a usage screenshot)
second - when i pinch in homescreen to get overview of all 7 screens, there is a slight lag (about half a second)
third - my phone signal fluctuates quite a bit. if i hold it in my hand, it goes from 4G 3/4 bars to no bars to EDGE to maybe 1 bar of 4G
fourth - my power button is a wee bit wobbly
the battery problem/reception is slightly better after "network refresh" by a tmobile rep but still not the greatest
I'd consider rooting and trying out some custom roms

Not sure flashing a different rom will help. You should have a 1% drop per hour with the screen off. Do you have motion features enabled? How many programs do you have updating via the Internet? Facebook, Twitter email etc. I would suggest you find the root cause first. There are a couple of monitor apps available that should help you narrow down the issue.

Calm down young one. People are trying to help. I tried to address your first issue and saw some questionable advice. No offense intended towards those that took the time to help. I use gsm auto. The preferred settings makes the phone search for that band and can drain battery in weak signal areas.
2. No idea why you have lag. I do not.
3. I believe the radio is located towards the bottom left. Covering it with your hand can affect signal strength. Also toggle data off then back on forces the phone to require the towers closest to you and may help in some situations.
4. A little wobble to the power button is not unusual.
Next time provide more details such as the rom version.
To the person that asked about motion features. From my understanding those features eat battery because they are always active. Polling, looking for motion.
If anything I posted is wrong, please let me know.

&& do you recommend draining battery to 0% to calibrate it?
Never drain the battery to zero. You can damage cells. I killed a hd2 battery back a few years ago before understanding how batteries work. Your drain on the battery is probably related to an app or setting.

I can but it would be a rehash and long winded. Google is your friend. Search battery maintenance and android. Reseting stats is a bit old at this point. There is an app in the play store that does it. I use battery monitor widget for detailed info on my battery. It also allows you to set radio preferences.

When I got my Galaxy Wonder 2 months ago, I was so excited to mod it that i did not even bather exploring the preinstalled stock rom.
I went directly to my computer, opened Xda and browsed down to look for the Samsung Galaxy Wonder main thread.
To my surprise, (probably you were too), it WASN'T there! I was very disappointed!
Maybe I expected too much knowing that the specs of the device was great.
(Well not really that great but it's better than the other devices in the main threads)
If the basis is activity of the threads, I think that the Galaxy Wonder have so much going on here that we are highly qualified to be seated
in front . We have so many custom roms here, from GB to ICS and now an almost 100% working JellyBean 4.1.2 - i have to mention it's super smooth on our device and even better than the stock rom! (thanks to Sir Arco)

Actually, XDA has put us right in the Low Activity Devices because that's it, we are considered low-activity. IMHO, A high-activity forum will be considered if it has a new post (I will assume it 20+) OR all of a sudden Samsung Galaxy W gets many ROMs, many users (that active in XDA) and many more aspects.
But if a "high-activity OR new device that goes to main thread" is deserted. Then there are only 2 options, move it to Low-Activity, or delete it.
Done !

First, did you see the traffic in this forum in 7 AM (GMT+7) or 12 AM (GMT)? Almost no post.
When the high-activity forums still got a 1-5 post in the night (or even 20.. Because of the different time zone).
Also, I will take the aspect of the many users.
And then, maybe we are not Low-Activity one, but the Legacy one.

Hey guys, so I want to know what the best custom rom is for E988. I am currently rooted and using stock rom. However, I wanted to upgrade to Marshmellow but it wasn't available. So now I want 5.1.1
I know there's CM12.1 but i'm not sure about its features.
These are the features I wanted.
* LG remote
* The LED for notifications
* LG's old lockscreen
* LG keyboard(if applicable) or better.
*Talk to people with aux cable plugged in when has no mic. (I can currently do this with Aux and all headphones with no built in mic)
* WORKING BLUETOOTH & Wifi 100% bugfree
That's basically it. I just love its features.
Thanks lads, I really felt like I needed to upgrade the version as I rooted my bros S4 to 6.0 and its so good. Since there isn't a noticeable difference between 6 and 5.1.1 IDM.
I believe blisspop will work on the e988, considering its basically the same thing as an e980. With that being said it's fantastic. Nearly bug free, and nothing major withstanding the fact that we won't get LGs Quick remote beyond kitkat. That issue is because we don't have any proper drivers for the IR blaster beyond kitkat. Also if I were you I'd forget most lg stuff and just use blisspop or cm. Stock lockscreen is really nice, and clean. SwiftKey is the best keyboard so I would advise it regardless of what rom you want to use. Everything else just works. Again I believe blisspop will work on the e988, but just check to make sure. If nothing else try cm. Just remember beyond kitkat our devices(e98x) will not be getting Quick Remote so you have to decide if you are OK with that before moving your phone to Lollipop or even marshmallow(in the event we actually get it).

Can you link me to blisspop?
Also, do you think this is better than LG's stock rom? I wanna get it if so.

ALSO ONE LAST THING. Does it have a message feature like LG's?
Like when u get a message it pops up top left.
Exactly what features do you mean? As far as I know lg has no special messaging features that aren't present in AOSP. Additionally I'd advise the use of Signal regardless of what rom(including stock) for all your text messages.

Personally I believe it's better than stock. That's not saying much though. I don't like any manufacturer skins, except for htc's, and even then I still prefer a stock Android look. Let me get you the link

Bliss Roms has been redoing their website so zombigrn uploaded his copy of the rom. I provided the link, but you can look on page 147 and you can find zombigrn's post or use the link below(they are the same link).

Well ****. I think I bricked it. I factory reset it and all, it wouldn't reset my sd card. I used internal storage and it says failure. I backed up my rom luckily. However I cannot turn off my phone because last time I tried to push power + vol up + home it wouldn't boot into the recovery. I had to use the rom to boot it up for me.
Use your computer to boot it into recovery using adb. It's very simple... I had a issue very similar like like this on my HTC desire HD and adb saved my but

I tried to hold vol down + power = hard factory reset, it takes me into TWRM for a split second. Idk how to fix this!
I downloaded this

I did back up my rom luckily before I even installed TWRM. However I just cannot get into it to freaken restore -.-
The link below should help you to get your phone back in working order. Do EXACTLY as the guide shows, no deviations, and I always advise for people to disable their Antivirus as they can cause issues.

I will try this and get back to you! I want to know how to say thanks to you. And I don't even have anti virus on my pc
EDIT: do I do from top to bottom or only a certain segment of the instructions. This is for rooting?
Just hit the thanks button ?. I am pretty sure you will have your phone back working after using the guide. Luckily I haven't had to use the equivalent guide for my device. I always read the guides to fix these issues before I root, much less flash Roms. It makes flashing Roms less stressful lol. ????

Im trying to follow the root steps. Its not recognizing my phone even tho its in "charge only mode"
You need to focus on step 5 as you are trying to recover from a soft brick.

Yea I realized that too. I still can't do anything as it asks me to go into download mode, which I can't...
RIP phone. I think this is a full brick. I literally can't get onto download mode or even stock android recovery. I can't get anything to pop up other than my recovery for a split second....
I can only go on my boot screen and get stuck there...

Don't worry about it dude, buying a new phone.
What happened was TWRMP wasn't compatible with this device. The idiot who ported it forgot to change the permissions for this specific device. Whatever I try to install in a .zip doesn't work.
I managed to get into recovery but since it doesn't install anything. LIterally a waste. It doesn't even install the modem.zip file. always "ERROR" when its not.
