Hi friends.
I decided to start porting android Gingerbread (CM7) for
Samsung Galaxy Tab.
In this topic, I will write the latest news on the progress
development.
I'll be glad if somebody from the other developers
to join the porting.
I have a European version of Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT-P1000)
and especially would benefit from participation in the development of people
with the CDMA version.
**Donate Link Removed**
I'll be glad to
donations and if other programmers to join the development of the port
that donations will be distributed among all participants in the
development.
Status port
04/01/2011 - At this moment I working on preparing configuration for build and
later will begin porting samsung patches to .35 kernel.

I've been playing around with cm7 for the past couple days. I haven't made any progress. Glad to see someone else (who knows what they're doing) working on this.

You might want to get in contact with the gents working on the CyanogenMod port to the Galaxy S, considering the similarities between that and the Galaxy Tab.
super excited for this; really can't wait for a good rom to make this device shine. currently fully stock CDMA Sprint tab here and willing to test.

Its doesn't really matter, once you get a device and vendor set up with the correct hardware profile and proprietary files (pulled from the tab) you just need a working kernel and you're good to go.

I have a US Cellular Tab that I can test and bug report with.
i am working on this atm too, but i didnt want to open a thread because of everyone just shouting around "i can help u testing" and no productive answers!
i will be slower, because my tab has jmc with signed pbl and zimage so i cant flash zimages and need to borrow a friend ones from time to time! maybe we can help each other to get fully working GB soon!
Unimaginative
Yes, I'll use developments of Galaxy S CM7 port.

Dude, that phone has much bigger user base...and much bigger developer base. Currently we have Arco and some other guys helping him and that's pretty much it. Read some posts in cm9 thread in this section and it should be clear to you.

Friend , I look at the CM9 thread many times in a day to know the status. I think more developer should come up to port the Rom from different devices.

In case you don't know developers don't fall out of the sky nor show up when magically summoned. I think we are pretty lucky as there is already someone who is working on cm9 and has the knowledge to port it.
But if you don't think so, go ahead and start working on it yourself.

this is the very old sentence , I have been listening this since I joined XDA.
You got me wrong. I meant to say that we should appreciate new developers by sharing the knowledge of porting/building so we could have more developers.
As I can imagine there are many developers here (i had this idea by different posts in W), some of them are web developers and some of them are desktop developers.
So if we could just point them to right directions then they would be also the Android developers.
So instead of taunting we should share, spread and welcome new developers also.
@arco is doing his best. But let me know the person who doesn't want a lot of Roms for our galaxy w !!!
If you dont have open source development knowledge then look for Ubuntu. How they are working together to achieve the same goal in a team work. they always welcome new developers by sharing and appreciating knowledge.
i hope you understand my point.
Thanks

and my humble request is to please don't challenge anyone. there is nothing impossible in this world. Working in a right direction, and on right time with excellent knowledge, anyone can achieve impossible things.
what will happen to you if I challenge you for porting a single rom, What would be your feelings ?
99.5% peoples joins XDA to get some test of customized ROMS and for the resolutions of their problems. Then dont want anyone to challenge him.
Thanks

I think the reason of Galaxy W having few developers is the absence of it on USA and some other major countries. As far as I know, I didn't see Galaxy W on Samsung's USA and Australia websites...(and maybe Singapore?? I forgot)
When I first signed up at Mycolorscreen to submit a modified screen of my phone, I didn't see any Galaxy W so maybe that's a way to tell that Galaxy W isn't very popular worldwide.
With the help of con247's script i can make a splash screen for the galaxy s3 it works for all models, it replaces the samsung logo which comes before the boot animation
post pictures here and i will give you a flashable zip of the splash. i will add some of my own ideas too soon
Till then peace!!
Forever dope zip 12/6
Bears 12/6
Any chance of sharing the script? nice work btw
I have talked with con247 about this awhile ago and you should tell everyone that this will not work with the international galaxy sIII the configuration of your AT&T sIII is completely different to our international sIII. Our splash image can only be changed when compiling the kernel i will request a mod to remove this as there is no chance it will work
im what Willis was talking about

And please stop fishing for thanks all devices are configured differently so it most likely wont work for all sIII devices as con247 made the script for the AT&T sIII not the variants there is also no need to go round posting it in every sIII forum you can find just post it in android general themes and apps at least then your not creating clutter

I am going to assume he doesn't as their is a donation thread for Scott to get a ATT GS3 to specifically develop for us.
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142663&highlight=scott
OP: Make sure you obtain proper permission from the ROM author before you share any ported ROMs with the public.

i'm creating a patch. according to that, he's ok with that
http://www.scottsroms.com/showthread.php?1861-AT-amp-T-Galaxy-S3-CleanROM-PLEASE!-!-!
Making a patch is fine.
But please do not port the ROM in its entirety. I would be very unhappy.
But yes, if you want to work on a patch I can even feature it on my site and you could post it there and I could link it.
Or maybe we can add it to the Aroma script.
Let me know how it turns out or if you need any help.
Just no full ports are allowed.
-Scott
