Cool. I didn't know this phone supported gsm bands.

this phone is global:
2G Network CDMA 800 / 1900
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
HSDPA 850 / 1900
4G Network LTE 1900

no wcdma 2100?

hmmm must be tested

4G Network LTE 1900?? I thought this phone would support LTE on 800 band... That's a shame considering Sprint is planning on moving it's spectrum from 1900 to 800.

Wow this is really exciting. What's the level of expertise required to pull this off?

....CAN YOU PLEASE TEST FOR ME INTERNAL SIM IC AND POST RESULTS?
Download from market Sim Card (gsmdev), then go to dial - then dial *#*#4636#*#* - then phone information - set GSM auto (prl) - restart and run Sim Card app.
Thanks

Could you know me about UMTS 2100(wcdma 2100)?

Cornholio will you be doing this to peoples devices for a fee?

As on GSMARENA
LG Optimus G LS970 for For Sprint.
2G Network CDMA 800 / 1900
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
HSDPA 850 / 1900
I just want to is ir really have sim card slot +cdma network support or it is CDMA only?
if there is no sim slow then Gsmarena should not write GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
if i do steps in first postm it will word on 2G GSM networks?

SIM state: NETWORK LOCKED
SIM serial number: 89011200000032322785

Phone type: CDMA
Device MEID or ESN: 99000xxxxxx240
Network country ISO:

huge thanx for your advice, but the device is already bad esn and i am in another country...

so i m just done with doing this mod and i can confirm that this doesnt work for gsm, heck it doesnt even stick to gsm only. It reads up all the info from the sim however but doesnt sticks to gsm network. The screenshots posted by OP are of photon q

I wonder if flashing a GSM modem from one of the other Optimus G variants would work? Or is the issue with the rom?

I dont knw, maybe thr is a risk of bricking the phone by flashing some other variant modem. Can we try to flash the JB leaked rom ? The thing is, the network doesnt change to GSM, the sim mod is working CDMA sim card only which is pretty useless since we can flash the same on the phone

First did you try to open *#*#4636#*#* and set GSM only?
and the second - someone was posting that he flashed Korean FW and everything was working except modem, thus try to do it.

Both of them works!

So this MOD works with GSM... or not?

If I buy this is there any way to sim unlock it?
The only problem is that this phone probably doesn't support HSPA 1700 band, so can't be used on T-Mobile, Mobilicity, Wind.
Althought it uses AWS, but that's LTE AWS, not HSPA AWS, not the same AWS that T-Mobile/Mobilicity/Wind uses.
and we found out the signal used it's actually different the normal AWS band was 800, and LTE was using the normal AWS bands

Any idea on how to unlock the SGS2 LTE from Rogers? Is it sim unlockable?
Is it the same as At&T SGS2? or more like the T-mobile SGS2?
as mentioned earlier it's the same Hercules design, just using a different radio
so, yes you can get it SIM unlocked
My understanding is that this phone has:
GSM: quad band
WCDMA: 900, 1900, 2100, (no 1700)
LTE: 800 (AWS)
So it means it can't be used on T-Mobile. Am I right?
get the Telus or Tmobile version if you want to use it on Mobilicity, WIND or the quebec one... forgot name

LOL thanks yeah, that's the one i was trying to name

LTE capabilities?

Just installed Kies for drivers and noticed two of the drivers say LTE. Anybody else notice this? Probably nothing but sort of weird.
i'm sure it's a generic name in reference to HSPA+ / LTE basically in reference to 4G
Ooook, not trying to beat a dead horse here but found some more interesting stuff. First, gsmarena posted news about an upcoming LTE Samsung device for AT&T which looks eerily similar to the Hecules with 1.5ghz dual-core processor. Link-->http://www.gsmarena.com/lteenabled_htc_vivid_and_samsung_galaxy_s_ii_skyrocket_hit_at_t-news-3335.php
Next, if you use short code *#2263# on our phones it gives you a band selection menu which includes LTE bands. I know the presence of these menus doesn't necessarily mean the bands are included but I don't remember seeing these in my Vibrant.

Actually, my theory is the Hercules and the Skyrocket are the same save for some slight cosmetic differences. Meaning our phone may be LTE capable but the bands are currently locked out.
Very interesting...
I would be thrilled if our phone actually physically supports LTE.

ok so based on what i just saw under wcdma it shows bands 850 900 1700 1900 and 2100 but doesnt actually select the all of those bands. When i tried it i could get on every band except for 900.
a * shows up on the band that you select. But when you select 900 it doesnt show a * after going back in the menu. Just shows the previously selected band. Same goes for the lte bands.
So i think that it shows all possible bands that other varients of the phone can connect to probably because of the same software but those bands arent actually on this phone

You are right. On the box of this phone it says it supports 850 1700 1900 2100 but no 900, and the fact that you can't select 900 in that software agrees with this. So not being able to select any LTE bands is a good indication that this phone doesn't physically support it.

Getting LTE to Work on Note 2 N7100 on ATT (Help!)

Okay, I just got a Note 2 N7100, I was using an iphone 4 before and basically swaped out the sims and HSPA + is working and I can make calls etc. However LTE is not showing up.
When I check network discovery there are two ATT networks the one lets me connect without any issues second one doesn't. So What can I do here to enable LTE ?
Thanks
N7100 is 3G/hspa+ only
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Um..
If you just google search the N7100 it says LTE 700mhz/2100mhz band
The N7105 should be the none LTE version Even on engadget.com/2012/09/12/galaxy-note-2-fcc/ N7105 = None LTE version
ATT uses 1700/2100 LTE. See something missing?
Besides, I'm pretty sure no country outside of the US uses the same bands for LTE that ATT uses.
The ATT iPhone 5 does not work on LTE outside of the US either.
IF ATT uses 1700/2100 then
Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n)
Bluetooth 4.0 technology
Model for AT&T: 4G LTE (700, 2100 MHz)3; UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Model for Verizon: 4G LTE (700 MHz)3; CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz); UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Data only4
Taken directly from Apple's Ipad 3 4G Site
States 700/2100 So...
Not only that, the LTE chip is not there. Germany has it but it will not work on ATT. Anyway, who cares? I have 3G now and it works fine for me. I can live without LTE.
Pretty sure the bands are different for the international version vs the us version which is why it wasn't a world release.
So wait now the n7100 doesn't have lte chip? It's not about who cares it was stated it did when I purchased the unit. So yeah.. everyone screams it has it so what's the real deal now
It does have LTE but on a band which is used on a different carrier. It's like unlocking an iPhone and putting it on tmobile. You will only have 2g service because tmobile uses a band different than AT&T for their 3G which isn't compatible with the phone.
No LTE for USA .mmm Yah , guess once its bought most will settle and argue that "I dont use it" or "I don't need it". Keep convincing yourself the $700+ was worth the jump. Check the shootout and spec vids happenin. This "update" is like the 4 to 4s iphone. Note 3 will be the upgrade.
Still rocking the N7000/i5 combo
Last few Iphone 4 then galaxy Note Intl version running 4.04 with Speedmod rom, now i5. Note 2 Pass. <flame suit initiated>
In other words if you go to the UK or where ever you purchased the phone from you will have LTE there. But not on AT&T unless they use the same frequency as whatever carriers are overseas.
But the Band support is ATT's Bands?? It's not a different band ATT uses 700/2100 And the N7100 Supports 700/2100
When I search for networks I spot 2 separate ATT networks one I can connect to but the other won't let me.
N-7100 - 4G Network - LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100
I717 - 4G Network - LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
Do you have an AT&T LTE data plan and LTE sim card?
Here's the plan I have for ATT
It's the Iphone 4 (3G) Unlimited (Grand fathered in with 3g sim card not 4g) Originally from my iphone 4
It could explain the other ATT network it picks up and won't let me connect could be the 4g and I'm on the 3G sim/Plan from good old Unlimited Days?

Umm... Of course you need LTE plan and sim card to get LTE service working. You don't put dvd in blu-ray player and expect blu-ray quality, do you? =p
Anyways, even if change your plan and sim I doubt you will be able to connect LTE. On the brighter side, once you switch to LTE you won't get throttled until 5gb data usage. =)

Yes 3G works on the Note 2 I stuck my old 3G Sim blue one in there it's on HSPA+, I'm going to go get a ATT 4G sim card and see what happens.
The specs say it supports ATT 4G LTE network.

Thinking of buying a ZL, a few questions

I'm considering purchasing the Xperia ZL for use on both AT&T and T-Mobile. My question is, does the LTE work on both networks? Also, is the LTE model that much faster than the 6502 model? How's battery life between them? Etc?
Basically, what's the pros and cons of 6502/6506?

When you order from NewEgg:
- Is it the US version - unlocked - with warranty?
- How much did you pay for it?
I am curious because Sony US Store also sells teh Xperia Z C6506 - unlocked - for $759. I am contemplating buying straight from Sony because I got burned buying international version of the phone and they're both dead (no US warranty) - Samsung Note II with SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome) issue.

Not like it will influence your purchase since you already bought one, but I use the C6506 on AT&T's LTE and get really decent download rates 44kbps to 29kbps ish with really no greater battery drain that I can see. It practically smokes my SGS3's battery life on LTE.

Single-SIM;3G WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100;4G LTE 700 / 900 / 1800 (FDD 3, 8, 28)
Also, isn't it true that Verizon plans on moving to pure LTE?

I checked my Asus Zenfone 2 and Verizon says not compatible.
I will say, I have been very happy on T-Mobile.

WCDMA is NOT the same as CDMA.
It's confusing, but let me explain.
3G (or UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+) uses technology that is based on CDMA..but it's called Wideband CDMA (WCDMA)...whereas Sprint and Verizon just use "regular" CDMA.....so this phone WILL NOT WORK with Verizon CDMA.
So with active Sim can use the zenfone 2 on Verizon. But no service in 3g areas?

no, I bought one without thinking about compatability, put my SIM card in, it recognized the card but it would not find service. The device had a 'network finder' in settings and found ATT, but not VZ. I called up support to see if there was ANY way to make it work, no. The ZF2 will not work at all on Verizon. Had to ship it back... :crying:
ZenFone2 (ZE551ML) will work on GSM carrier's networks in North America. However, CDMA carriers such as Verizon and Sprint do not work with this device. The 2 major GSM carriers here in the USA are AT&T and T-Mobile. For more info please see our FAQ and Zenfone Quick Service support sites:

I don't have one of these handsets so I cannot confirm this will solve radio programming problems this device probably exhibits. The problem with affordable great phones is they hamper Verizon's other handsets and therefore threaten the business model. Sad times, but this is what has me waiting patiently for the market of blok phones to appear.

Hey guys, hoping that someone can help me out here. I am a long Verizon Galaxy Nexus user and am ready to retire it, but keep my unlimited data. My question is will this phone work on Verizon's network. Can someone shed some insight on this, because I'm ready for the upgrade.

Man i really hate Verizon! However i live in the middle of nowhere and Verizon is the only service we can use. Verizon never gets any good phones or if it does it makes sure it pressures the manufacturer into locking them down.
It's not just about the phones being locked but CDMA and GSM using different hardware and software. Most of the LTE phones sold by Verizon and Sprint are unlocked however you still need correct hardware and software to make it work on GSM networks. To say nothing of the least of making sure you have the correct bands.
If you're wanting this phone because of its dual sim, you need to pass. This phone used subpar and outdated hardware on Sim 2 and is firmware blocked for data using only 2G for voice/text. 2G is already being shut down by AT&T in the states and T-Mobile is following. This "Flagship" dual sim phone is actually going to be a single sim phone for those of us in the states in about a year. I got suckered and am now looking for another phone. There are plenty of companies out there offering up to date hardware at the same price.
