metro uses cdma not gsm so if you were to unlock a note 2 for use on metro you would need to unlock a sprint note 2 which i believe would require cdma workshop to change the imei to the imei of a metropcs phone
I think the note 2 is a cdma/gsm phone and all you need is the radio possibly from a cdma galaxy s3 on metro pcs flashed via odin and a meid off of a metro phone to make it work. thats my 2cents I cud totally be wrong but I did get my note 2 to say meid instead of imei in the settings section of the phone.

That what I notice. Well I have a friend who have a Samsung but not sure of model. But he had lte signal on his phone. Another question. Is there a cap on data? If so what if it been passed do they just throttle or do they cancel service. Virgin mobile well I had their just broadband with them and when I'm done using up all MB i get disconnection on data. Ty so much.
Well I am paying for the $60.00 unlimited plan. I download several movies a day and I haven't seen a difference yet in speed. But if you decide to go with a plan of $50.00 which includes 2.5GB of LTE speeds, you will be throttled thereafter. Not sure what the cap is but I'm pretty sure it's 3G/1MB. Typically 118 kbps download which is not bad for light Internet usage.

Thanks man. I just wiped data and started again from scratch choosing S3 and it worked straight away. I did try S3 previously though to no avail...there hasn't seemed to be any rhyme or reason to what works and what doesn't. Hopefully this will stay stable. But even if it doesn't at least it usually will eventually with some fiddling, which is better than nothing I guess.
My 3g speed is around 1-1.5mps here. I've played Xbox 360 on live (call of duty mw3) with minimal lag.. was still very playable. I know 3g is hit or miss for alot of people though

Still flaky, have to stop and start it a couple times just like before...works about the same on the SIII option as it did on the Nexus CDMA/LTE option. Suck.
I find it starts to act weird as soon as you try to enable access control or security. I normally use it just with WPA2 turned on, and it's flaky. Not going to use it unprotected though, don't want to get an STD

So I hit my 5gig unlimited data cap pretty early on this month, at which point att throttles you to an awful 1up/1down speed.
The other day my phone stepped down from LTE to HSPA/HSPA+,and I was hitting speeds of 7down/1up.
I know its currently not possible to control the mobile data connection, but if we are ever able to do it you could continue to get bearable data speeds by just stepping down from LTE.
I have since rebooted my phone and its back on LTE

U get 5gb on 4gLTE and 3gb on 4g. All you have to do is change the APN settings if you want to switch from one to the other.

I might be wrong but the data throttling is only for the top so much percent and has nothing to do with the package you paid for. If you go over you simply pay more.

Not sure this is accurate. I think the plan itself is LTE if you have an LTE capable phone regardless of what you have in your area. So it should be 5 GB for the S3.

Ya, the text message I got was that I'd be throttled @ 5gigs. Nothing about top whatever %, just straight 5 gigs.
I don't get throttled when I go over 5gb, I just pay 10$ per gb over. Rounded up of course. My understanding was only unlimited plans got throttled? Am I wrong?

3G Speeds
Sprint data speeds do vary and sometimes it is comparable to the effects of satellite Internet via Direct TV in the heart of the winter. Although I will say that when it works, it really works. These threads are no different than those on the Sprint Community forums.
I will say that if the network upgrades do improve service even to the point where are 3G service is consistent all the time even when we expect 4G speeds then it is worth the wait.
My speeds are attached.

Has anyone who's received the Vzn JB OTA had enough play time on their phone to see if the LTE signal issues have been resolved? I know we all have a 99% sure suspicion that the new radio files would fix it but I'm really curious if people are noticing a difference.
From the screenshots I saw the radios are the same from the other leak. Anyone confirm this yet?

I've never had any of the signal drop-out problems that other users have reported. I did flash the new radios today and have noticed significant improvement in wifi/4G hand off. Enough so that it actually diminished battery life slightly, since the 4G signal is stronger outside my house than the wifi and it makes an almost immediate switch to 4G. Not a complaint, just surprised at how efficiently the transition is made.

Some of us wanted a phone that was free from manufacturer skins and bloat ware, and the Nexus was just that with great hardware. I've played with custom ROMs on a GalaxyS, and found that I'd rather do work WITH my device instead of working ON my device. Rooting is fine if you have the time, but I don't and would rather have security and stability.

It feels that way sometimes. So many threads and blog articles have comments from these dicks saying things like "If you haven't even rooted it you don't deserve to have a Nexus". It's like just shut up.
Hey guys and gals!
Just wanted to let everyone know that MrGreg the developer of Roam Control updated it.
it now supports the Sprint Galaxy S3
I've already tried it and it does work!!
the site says that it doesnt work on jelly bean but it DOES work for me on CM10, my guess is touchwiz roms?
Here is the LINK to the Roam Control website.
Enjoy!!
you need to purchase the app to use it.
I got excited till I saw it doesn't support jelly bean :'( that's what I really need it for CM 10

It doesnt work. I am on the latest CM10 nightly with 25006 PRL. If I set the roam control app to roam only I just loose service. If I set it back to home or auto nothing happens and I still don't have service. If I reboot the phone I get service back. If the app is set to roam only, I get no serivce and then I reboot, I get service back...but its Sprint and not roaming even though the roam control app is still set to roam only.
I'll try this on a touchwiz rom to see if its any different.
It definitely is working for me, I'm using the 25006 prl. Thank goodness for roam control I have signal at work again

Yep all that is checked. Looks like it doesnt work on CM10.
I tried on a ICS rom (blazer rom 1.7) and it works. I can now force roam. I just cant get on Verizon 3G when roaming with either 12121 PRL or 24006.
......OOPS didn't notice that there is a new option in phone selections just for the S3. Now it works GREAT!!!
Confirmed on FreeGS3..thanks for the heads up OP

Whats the app for? Why would u want your phone to roam? I thought that was a bad thing and terms for termination by sprint. Educate me please.

It's very useful when in a area with little to no Sprint coverage.
And I know on my og epic this app worked on asop and aopk.

it enables you to roam on a Verizon tower without changing your prl.

Loving this. Using PRL 12121 I can now easily switch between Sprint and VZW 3G speeds. Check out the speed difference on my attached photo.

Dammit, no signal when roaming in Orlando. That sucks. Apparently Sammy devices only roam in 900MHz which is limited in FL and TX. That's stupid of Sammy.

Not going to spend $4 on something that may or may not work.
for those of you who get no signal after switching you need to go into options in roam control and set it to reboot.
i thought it was obvious to reboot after selecting the phone but i guess not.
