Received the official Jelly Bean 4.1.1 for my Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus this morning. It's about F'ing time. Located in Los Angeles County, CA. Completely locked bootloader/stock rom. Just went back to factory everything last night due to battery issues and then getting Jelly Bean Notification is great.

Can someone grab the update file name please? Open up the logs in /cache/recovery using a text editor and search for a file name ending in .zip. Thanks.
That's hysterical. I'd finally run out of patience and rooted last night. My girlfriend should be pleased though. She's still running stock on hers and is a little leery about rooting her phone. Now we both get JB!

My phone just updated (Florida) a few minutes ago after I connected to wifi for the first time today.
Orange County, Ca and no OTA as of yet. Cleared framework at least 50 times and still no go. Mine is running the leak, but my wife's is stock, locked, and unrooted. Does anyone know if the OTA disables universal search?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Has anyone who's received the Vzn JB OTA had enough play time on their phone to see if the LTE signal issues have been resolved? I know we all have a 99% sure suspicion that the new radio files would fix it but I'm really curious if people are noticing a difference.
From the screenshots I saw the radios are the same from the other leak. Anyone confirm this yet?

I've never had any of the signal drop-out problems that other users have reported. I did flash the new radios today and have noticed significant improvement in wifi/4G hand off. Enough so that it actually diminished battery life slightly, since the 4G signal is stronger outside my house than the wifi and it makes an almost immediate switch to 4G. Not a complaint, just surprised at how efficiently the transition is made.

Some of us wanted a phone that was free from manufacturer skins and bloat ware, and the Nexus was just that with great hardware. I've played with custom ROMs on a GalaxyS, and found that I'd rather do work WITH my device instead of working ON my device. Rooting is fine if you have the time, but I don't and would rather have security and stability.

Actually...I AM getting amazing battery life on LTE now. I left it running all day today.
Come on people. This is completly unnecessary bickering. Im sure many are curious about battery life on 4.04 . To me it actually seems not as good unfortunitly. ( although i was in and out of service alot today) so ill have to give it more time to see.
I am certain my increased battery life is due to not dropping 4G every 5 minutes ( I work in a fringe area).

Hello all, I've gotten to meet some of you already.
I got my GNex earlier tonight, I haven't rooted it.. I just wanted to test stock and dig through the options and get use to the nexus.
I came from the Droid Incredible so the nexus is like the "One Giant Leap" of phones. Its a 3'7 screen while the nexus holds a 4'6! But even so.. its still a baby in my hands. It sure as hell feels wonderful though, the vibration threw me off for sure. Its very odd to say the least..
Anyway just wanted to say hi and hope to fit well!
P.s. anyone recommend a good way to root? I'm imm76q*

Congrats. I should be getting mine tomorrow. I had to go into the Verizon store yesterday to play with one to tie me over (and I wanted to find out when we are getting LTE in my area).
One thing that concerned me though is the store model had pretty severe screen burn in / image retention. Obviously the thing has been sitting in the store for several months on the same home screen most of the time so the burn in is explainable, but I'm just wondering if this is something that will happen to mine over time.
Welcome! You will enjoy it!
To root just do adb reboot bootloader
Fastboot oem unlock
Then flash root .zip file
For more info on how to do it step by step, go to the sticky guide on the Q & A section.
Congratulations on your purchase by the way

Once you get a hang of the phone.. install a custom jelly bean rom and install Trinity kernel. Your speaker and vibration will return to what a phone should have! Enjoy

What is the best kernel you'd suggest? I'm on Franco, tried Trinity once but might try again as I might get better color frequencies.

I've used paranoid and I'm not too impressed with it on the nexus. The DInc was great it just suffered horrible battery. I'm currently on JbSourcery and it works great.

Thanks man. I just wiped data and started again from scratch choosing S3 and it worked straight away. I did try S3 previously though to no avail...there hasn't seemed to be any rhyme or reason to what works and what doesn't. Hopefully this will stay stable. But even if it doesn't at least it usually will eventually with some fiddling, which is better than nothing I guess.
My 3g speed is around 1-1.5mps here. I've played Xbox 360 on live (call of duty mw3) with minimal lag.. was still very playable. I know 3g is hit or miss for alot of people though

Still flaky, have to stop and start it a couple times just like before...works about the same on the SIII option as it did on the Nexus CDMA/LTE option. Suck.
I find it starts to act weird as soon as you try to enable access control or security. I normally use it just with WPA2 turned on, and it's flaky. Not going to use it unprotected though, don't want to get an STD

Is it all mashed together so that you can't slide to pick an option? If so then it has to do with the inverted GApps. All you need to do is take a Phone.apk (just any normal non-inverted one) from another rom and place it in /system/app and that should fix the problem.

That makes me nervous about this rom working for me or not. Does it also show you as roaming? I had that problem with ICS where I could only use 3 or 4 different roms and the rest would show that I was roaming. Never could find out why and only a couple other people even had the problem. Luckily once Jelly Bean came along I haven't had any issues *knock on wood*

Man that was a quick port Dax, you don't mess around huh? Thanks for showing the Toro some love too. Hopefully Goo will come back up by tonight so I can give this a try. Have only heard good things from the GSM thread. Thanks again!

Is it all mashed together so that you can't slide to pick an option? If so then it has to do with the inverted GApps. All you need to do is take a Phone.apk (just any normal non-inverted one) from another rom and place it in /system/app and that should fix the problem.

Nope. Doesn't show me as roaming. It does say mobile network is disconnected under settings. Yet I still have 4g

Google IO is this Wednesday. Like everyone here (I hope lol) I am super stoke! But, a lot of rumors have been flying around the interweb about a possible Nexus 4 with LTE capabilities. Would you guys be happy with a Nexus 4 LTE announcement or Nexus 5..maybe both in one year since the phone is normally comes out November through December release date???
I would buy the Nexus 4 LTE to keep me happy until the 5.
All rumors. We all know Nexus 5 will appear by the end of the year. I know this would make sprint and verizon users happy.

This might burst your bubble.

But even so, it says they wont FOCUS on new stuff. Doesnt say they wont announce anything. But who knows? Rumors...

Pretty much this. You have to show me a Nexus that is impossible to resist for me to leave the Gnex.
As for software, everybody should have been expecting 4.3 according to all the evidence and history and I'll be glad to get it once it hits AOSP.

I hope they announce a new Nexus that Verizon is getting. I've been sitting on an upgrade for a while.
I don't need a new Nexus as long as my GNEX is receiving the coming updates.
I'm looking forward to the influx of threads being created after I/O about the latest android build. It becomes such a festive time while everyone is rapidly spamming "check for updates"

Why do we need another Google io thread?
Tapatyping
No.
They take a year to release a new device, and there did not have a track record of doing minor changes to a current product as far as I know........

Official support might be ending this year October, better jump on custom ROMs.

Yes but our 18 month cycle is almost up. 4.3 maybe our last so hopefully they make it good.
My question is when my two year ends this September, whether I should get a nexus 4/5 or the X phone. I want the iPhone of Google for update purposes and don't want to have many different models claiming to be pure but when updates come it takes months.
I/O
I really like/hate android news sites as most stuff is already revealed.
I just hope Google has some servers up ready to give us some stuff tomorrow like babel, play games, maybe 4.3.

The Devs here at XDA will keep this phone going whether Google supports it or not. I'm not worried about it.

The nexus 4 DID ship with LTE but it was removed via software to avoid FCC fines as it was never tested an/or certified.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6474/nexus-4-includes-support-for-lte-on-band-4-aws
So there is no need for Google to put out a nexus "4G".
I have all ready seen several places that the new model numbers will be Nexus 5, 8, & 11 and the new os "Key Lime Pie" will be either version 4.3 or 5.0.

http://www.knowyourmobile.com/googl...5-nexus-8-nexus-11-concepts-appear-android-43
Also several sources have confirmed that jus as it was with the upgrade from ICS to JB it will be "pushed" to all existing nexus devices. The only nexus phones no Lange receiving updates is the original HTC Nexis One, and the HTC G1 which still unofficially support JB.
