Go to-->phone-->settings-->uncheck cell broadcasting......
I was also tired with these **** messages, when I called customer care they said there's option in ur phone......then I found this.....

Was easy for me!
Even I had this irritating problem........ .
Just went to Settings->Mobile Network->Network Mode->WCDMA Only.. And the problem's gone!
I'm on AirTel and when using 2G (EDGE as the Mobile Network Type in Settings->About->Network).... this problem occurs...
Once I switch to 3G (UTMS / HSDPA as the Mobile Network Type), these ads never come! :victory:
AirTel..... there's a solution to every problem

Query Regarding Getting the Desire from London

Well the topic is about the Desire and how to get it but I was not sure which forum to put it in so posted it here.
Well my Brother is moving to London for 2 years. Now he has his N95 (unlocked) which he would like to continue using as he has his paid apps installed on it and stuff.
Now he's getting a HTC Desire on contract. So If he uses the Contract Sim in his N95 and sends back the Desire to me here in India, I could unlock it and use it with any data carrier here in India right?
Yes you could unlock / debrand the Desire and use it on another network.

you will be able to use it no probs in india, you may want to check with the network you use in india and make sure that they use a compatible 3g band if that is important to you
Bhai sab fit! It will defo work. What Network is your Bro on?

He will be either on T Mobile or Vodafone
The network won't care right even if he's using his contract sim in his other unlocked phone?

Well I use vodafone here and as of yet there is no 3G so it might not make a differrnce. Any idea what 3G band is used in India though?

Oh and one more thing.
Some guy on tech enclave was saying that if you unlock your phone using the unlock code the phone will once again get locked after I update my phone software to Froyo.
Is that true? I thought this only happened in iPhones? If it's true what are my alternative means of unlocking?
Thank you everyone
Simply re use the same unlock code you originally used to unlock the phone and you'll be fine.

It worked for me when my phone was re locked after debranding, its worked for others on here too.

Could you tell me what site you or others used for unlocking the phone from which you could re use the key?
Anyone know How much would it cost in customs to get a Desire from the UK to India?

It does sound strange. Have tried switching between 2g and 3g to see if it makes any difference?

2g makes no diff, ill have to wait for a phone to use and call them, and then most likely get a new phone, then unroot mine yaya and so on lol.

If you are both T-Mob, then of course you are the same network. They don't build a new set of cell towers just for pre-paid. They just change the way they bill you.
ya need to get a new phone, went back to stock rom and still is messed up
called tmobile and it turned out to be my sim card was a older version and had switched networks too many times and couldnt connect anymore. took the one that came with the phone and got it setup and its all good again.

Well, if the memory on the SIM card is akin to flash memory, I guess it's possible.

Really? Totally believe you just dont see the logic behind it. Why would they make a sim card only be able to switch networks so many times? Makes no sense. The person you talked to probably just had no idea what they were talking about!
Pretty much every rewritabe non volatile memory technology out there has a limiter number of writes that can be performed on it before it fails. Maybe a SIM card will last for > 10 years. I don't know, I haven't been with a single provider long enough to find out. I can see where this was a logical hypothesis on the part of the rep, and since replacing the sim worked, where is the problem?

I lost my HOX,

whom should I call to blacklist it? HTC? or they wouldn't since the phone is international?
Call your carrier.. Give them the details they ask.
If you have insurance call the insurance company, and also your carrier as the person above me mentioned

Get to a pc, log into your google account on the android marketplace, and install Plan B by lookout mobile security. If your google account is still active on your lost phone it'll install and email you the location of the phone.

I cannot call my carrier because the phone was purchased on ebay and was unbranded made in Taiwan. also the trick that can locate the phone did not work. so my best choise is to blacklist it but idk whether htc would blacklist it or not since it has no carrier

you can still call the carrier to get the sim card blocked and stop any wanted charges being billed to you
and i doubt HTC would do anything... why would they care/bother?

ahh well best get in contact with your Network Carrier and ask if there is a outage/tower issue, and be sure apns are exact, best is to get a phone that comes from that carrier and look at the apns on that phone
I think i would thanks.for the advice

No service

My girlfriend bought a gs4 recently and it was working fine till today. She lost T-Mobile service. There is no signal it just says unable to connect. WiFi works fine but it won't connect to T-Mobile network for some reason. So she can't make calls or text. We reset it a few times, took the SIM card out and put it in my phone. And her SIM works on my phone. So it's the gs4, we tried doing almost everything
Anyone else have this issue?

try going to a t mobile corporate store near you and tell them that you would like to exchange your S4. or try calling them (dial 611 from your t mobile phone)

make sure that the phone is not in "airplane mode".
When you pull down the nofication screen slide the
toggles left and right til you see "airplane mode"
and be sure it's not lit up.
Good luck!
She said she took it to tmobile but they said they can't fix it and can't do nothing about it. As for airplane mode it's not in it. It's weird it would automatically turn of the enable data connection when check it on and try to connect to tmobile network it can't connect and it uncheck the box automatically
