What I did was restored my original back up, then flashed stock recovery then relocked bootloader then ran the ruu and it wiped everything.
At a guess you'll need the 2.17 stock recovery, not sure where you'll find it unless its on the forum somewhere and the generic 2.17.401 ruu from the filefactory website.

have a read below, somewhere in it says any stock recovery should work as long as it is stock, then just run ruu, no need to restore

Cheers, what's the best way to sim unlock it anyone recommend a site where to get a unlock code or is there a free way?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Simunlock is a different story than rooting and running a custom rom.
Some say they got a simunlock code from eBay
My heads hurting from all the reading lol seems a bit more difficult than the desire , in my kernal version it says root in it does that mean it has been rooted before ? And I don't need to s off one x ?

What's difficult? It's just as any HTC phone...Only thing different is, you need to flash the img file via fastboot because HOX is S-ON and there's no method to S-OFF it ATM! Only HTC can do it for you!
1. Unlock bootloader via htcdev.com
2. flash custom recovery via fastboot
3. Flash SuperSU.zip via recovery
Done! Your rooted!
How can I make sure I'm in the right forum which one x I have ? cheers

Press Power Button + Volume down button till you get into bootloader screen... See what is written on the 2-3rd line?
IF it says "Endeavoru" then you have the International one and your in the Correct forum!
If it says "evita" or "evitaire" it means you have One XL or the One X+

He has to flash the kexecboot.img through fastboot, I dont think there's anyway apart from maybe pushing the image via the Terminal Emulator, which just plainly not work because of the unlocked bootloader and no soff, you may have to get your usb port changed to a proper one if you want to transfer data.

Well if you can download the nandroid straight to your phone I guess that would work, though you still might have to flash a boot.img if your changing a Rom, wouldn't hurt to try though.

no doesn't work you have to use sense 5 for the apps...why not saying the shop they made some mistakes and you can't transfer any files to your phone? they should fix that
I had HTC Sensation (s-off) with 4ext recovery which has smartflash option for s-on users, with that you can directly flash kernel on your phone without pc, fastboot etc. So is smartflash posible for HOX ? Happy new year.
Nope, only dev work that comes close is the kernel-lighter from thunder

Is that due to hardware or ?
Yes because you need s-off to flash kernels directly via the recovery.
