Yes... Many a times.. I do it on my netbook(windows 8) as well...
You just need the android sdk.. or fastboot adb folder and drivers of the one x installed on your netbook!

Cheers, what's the best way to sim unlock it anyone recommend a site where to get a unlock code or is there a free way?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium

Simunlock is a different story than rooting and running a custom rom.
Some say they got a simunlock code from eBay

My heads hurting from all the reading lol seems a bit more difficult than the desire , in my kernal version it says root in it does that mean it has been rooted before ? And I don't need to s off one x ?

What's difficult? It's just as any HTC phone...Only thing different is, you need to flash the img file via fastboot because HOX is S-ON and there's no method to S-OFF it ATM! Only HTC can do it for you!
1. Unlock bootloader via htcdev.com
2. flash custom recovery via fastboot
3. Flash SuperSU.zip via recovery
Done! Your rooted!

How can I make sure I'm in the right forum which one x I have ? cheers

Press Power Button + Volume down button till you get into bootloader screen... See what is written on the 2-3rd line?
IF it says "Endeavoru" then you have the International one and your in the Correct forum!
If it says "evita" or "evitaire" it means you have One XL or the One X+

PrimoC is the codename for the US version of the One V
Sorry for asking you every 2 minutes a question but lots of people commented that it didn't work for them and there are lots of things I didn't understand like uur and hboot and fastboot and flashing and lots of other things because I'm new to android and I'm scared to do something wrong and brick my device so could you please help me because I'm really want to root my device but feared of bricking it and doing something wrong

search for the software version at the OS, settings -> phone setting -> software
Given your data (Lebanon) it will be Primo U, but better to be sure.
Sorry, at settings->about->software information. There is the software number which is needed
Sorry, but I will ask, if you are new to android why root? It is not really needed if you just use the phone like average.

The software is for the WWE Asia Primo U so you can go according to the link Lloir gave you.
First a registration at htc-dev, and then there will be steb-by-step walktrough to unlock the bootloader. If you have unlocked it (all data will be erased) then it could be rooted, or you can go easy and use the One V all-in one tool which can remove some work from your soulders, but I don't really think that it will be wise at a beginner level to attain the root.
Also if you watched carefully if you unlock the bootloader (which is needed for root) you have voided your warranty.

Then you must have used adb, so you are accustomed to command line. In HTC because of some limitations for the users, fastboot is needed to flash things, if you have acchieved the unlocked BL.
For root you only need to do basic things with the all-in-one tool, and you will have cwm to install the supersu. it is not that hard.
I told you I'm not a beginner I was just saying that but the things I don't know are flashing roms but the I know the bootloader unlocking process

if you have unlocked and has cwm you are on the go. You can (not must) flash any custom rom that is available. Only difference in htc is that first you go into bootloader, then from there to recovery, not to recovery first. fastboot is basicly a tiny app, that is capable to flash the primo's memory directly with command line syntax when is fastboot mode (you can call it flash mode basicly).
Ok I got you I conclude that the things I should do are
1 unlock the bootloader
2 flash cmw Rom
3 install superuser
Only???
Or is there anything else?

2 flash cmw Rom -> recovery, not rom but correct
3 install superuser-> via the newly flashed recovery
Only???
Or is there anything else?
That is all needed for the root.

Nice apps?
Dude, few posts ahead you've told Lloir that you need some help on rooting because you don't know what's a bootloader. After that you've told everyone that you know what a bootloader is and you are not new to android, rooting or any other specifical part of this process.
Now after you rooted your device, you ask "what are the nice apps that I can download??" ?
Are you serious?!
Get your act together.
Yeah so what I don't mean the basic apps I mean other apps that allow you to take more controll of your phone

Yes of course there is, but in every ROM flashing guide they say you have to do it from PC because nobody likes you.

No, unfortunately its not possible yet. It will be possible once bootloader is fully unlocked aka S-Off access.

It was just a joke. If I was a little too sensitive, perhaps having my name misspelt could be considered rude.
Unfortunately not.
I did some experimenting with this by manually flashing boot.img with dd
Reading and flashing a boot.img works fine but as soon as you reboot its back to old img.
Deduction
Hboot protection is removing external changes to the boot partition and the only way to get a change to stick after reboot is with fastboot which requires a PC to use

And i feel your despare.....what if you deinstall rommanager/Rom toolbox (its a crap piece of software anyway) and only reflash a recovery with the fastboot commands, then enter it and check if it works.....
Its a strange issue and the right guy (or girl) has to scroll by and see the problem. This might take time
what do you mean two recoveries? when you boot it goes to one and when you into boot recovery the other?
I did flash everything with fastboot comands. No rom toolbox.

This section is for the international one x mate. Not the 4G version which you have.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The oneclickroot you tried wont work. It only works for few international versions ( ICS only ).
In onexroot.com you will find another tutorial to unlock bootloader ( this will give rootand SuperSU )
OR
you could try out this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
its a toolkit to easily root your device.
Do NOT use anything from here ! Definitely not the TEGRA 3 all in one rootkit. You have to flash only stuff from your own forum !
You need to go to the
AT&T, HTC one xl, rogers forum with this
Oh wait.
Mr hofs is right. You see evita pvt wriiten on top of bootloader. Go to the evita one x forum. Sorry, i couldnt see the image earlier.

[Q] Change CID from 11111111

It seems this question has not been answered.
I am trying to install the following ROM for my HTC One X http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4#post36407155, but it says I need Hboot 1.3 or better.
Well I have 1.14 and the only way to upgrade is to have your CID be HTC_101 or something like that. Mine is 11111111, which is what it should be after I unlocked the bootloader. How do I change it back to HTC_101 or whatever came with my phone?
I can only access the fastboot screen since when I previously tried to install the ROM it didnt work and my phone gets stuck at the white HTC screen and keeps rebooting.
My version is 2.20.502.7. And I can still load into Team Win Recovery v2.4.1.0 if that hepls
Thanks
Are you sure you have the international One X version? Haven't seen this hboot version before.
