I think you broke it. There is no going back.
Or you can take 3 seconds and look up the damn answer. Rooting the phone will not make it do a bunch of weird BS. Good grief. This crap is getting old.
You obviously have no idea what the heck you are doing. Try to educate yourself. Read a little. It's not that damn hard. Just try a little bit. Put forth a tiny little bit of effort.

I did just could find the official leaked RUUs, and the root did cause laggyness to my phone as well as the keyboard was getting slow and its freezing a lot

That is not possible. One thing has nothing to do with the other. All rooting does is change permissions to allow you to install software. You have another issue.

yeah I know that the only logical explanation is that I got a bad build of the rom because it happen right after preloading it with a stock rooted rom?

Couldn't find the ruu? When they are stickied in the dev section? Its because you didn't look.
And there is NOTHING that injecting superuser and flashing a custom recovery did to make your phone lag. You should really read before messing with your expensive device

I have searched my problem but not sure what caused it? has anyone heard this before or is it just that JB is slow? I guess Ill go back to ICS rooted instead

Help...PLEASEEEE!!

Ok, not sure where to post this but it has to be rom related or maybe kernel
this has been going on for a little while now and i cant figure out whats causing it..
it may be temp related but it has been doing it when the temp is normal too...
basically, it reboots and doesnt stop, i have to take the batt out and then it will reboot normal.
i tried different kernels and roms, they all have been doing it...
not sure if something is damaged like the batt or phone but im getting sick of it..
any ideas?
i got this evo when it came out, it was rooted from day one and i have been able to OC heavy at times..
im not over doing the OC since i know how much to push it there... the undervolt is fine.

boot into recovery
wipe 3x
flash a stock ruu
post this in Q&A next time
How are you wiping in between roms? My wifes phone does that every once in a while. Usually a good wipe with Virusroms Superwipe does the trick.

HTC phones are very picky meaning that after flashing so many ROM's it can cause bad mtd blocks. Thus the phone does not let the it boot proper. I'm not saying that this is the problem but it could be one. If I were you I would try to flash a RUU and wait a couple days to see if the phone acts normal. If it does try to flash a ROM and see if it starts again, if it does then it may be a bad mtd block. You should do a log cat so we can see where and why the phone will randomly reboot.
Try virusrom's superwipe, and yes, try going back to stock for a while. But also, don't laugh off the people that tell you to post in the right section. This forum is way too cluttered already. Development forums in particular. Mistakes happen, but please read the rules at least once. Anyway, now you know--have fun here at XDA.

every forums i have ever gone too gets cluttered, no way around that. yes i do agree in searching but( at least for me) searching doesnt help too much at times, so much comes up in the search.
but anyways, i do laugh, no offense to anyone but i find it funny some people take the time to correct you like if it was a huge deal... let the mods take care of if, that simple.
anyways, thanks again

do you guys think it would help if i flash a stock rooted rom?
Like was stated above, try flashing back to STOCK and UNROOTED. If it still does it, take it to Sprint for a replacement since it'll be a hardware issue then.

Flash back to normal root

I recently been following AOKP of Task, but it doesn't seem to work well for me. The entire thread is turning into a **** storm and I can't keep up with 100 posts an hour to find out what I should do. I would like to just flash back to normal and keep root. What would be the best route to do this. I thought about flashing the stock rom thats stickied, but I dont want to brick my phone, so I thought I would ask first. Would it be safe to flash one of the debloated stock roms? thanks for any help

I am on the same boat as the OP--well, kinda... since I haven't flashed a custom ROM yet, but I am about to; however, I'd like to have the option to restore to right before pre-flash. What is THE BEST method of backup so that EVERYTHING is back to pre-flash state? I am talking about all my accounts, apps, data, and even the location of all my icons on the screen... I am currently rooted and have Titanium Backup, but I don't know if it can do a "full" backup like I just described or not. I back up my apps and data often and I have restored them (even transferring from one device to another), but like I said, not a "full" backup/restore. I am on Verizon and have the CWM recovery by the way which does the backup but the folder date shows as 1970 or something... just an FYI in case that makes a difference for better or worse..
Thank you in advance!

Although he adds a lot of cool features, it is not stable enough yet for me to be happy using it on a consistent basis. The fact that he responds to everyone by basically telling them to go f*ck themselves doesn't make me want to waste time encouraging him to waste his. I'm going to try to flash back to a stock rom.

people are such hypocrites around here
you can't blame a dev/rom for you shortcomings when it comes to YOU ultimately deciding to flash THEIR software. IT WAS YOUR CHOICE, he didn't hold a gun to your head and say FLASH THE F*CKING ROM. You did it! Take responsibility for your own actions!
Don't even sweat it Chef. Task knows who he is, and doesn't need these guys or anyone else to like him. But if people keep acting this way, it may be enough for him to say f it I'm gonna stop putting my **** out. And that would suck. To those critiquing Tasks work, be a little more considerate.

I'm not going to instigate but you may want to start backing up efs in the future so you can restore your imei if something happens. Its pretty rudimentary stuff, that Dev who wrote illusion rom for the i9100 used to back it up for you while flashing.
Download HC-kTool (its free) to backup your EFS before flashing. If certain people had taken the precautions that they should have before flashing ANY rom then there would not have been a problem.
Task's & Ktoonsez AOKP is the smoothest/best rom for the SGS2 & SGS3, as well as a stable dailey driver.

This is just one example (if you read my OP) about the **** storm that apparently threads easily turn to. I in no way blamed Task for a ****ty rom or anything of that sort. I stated it wasn't working well for me. Something, if you've tried to follow his thread at all, he states quite frequently; not everyone will receive the same results from his roms. In which case, if its not happening to him, he doesn't care. Which he is completely in titled to do, seeing as he's the one working his a** off on it. All I asked was the best route in which I could safely flash back to rooted stock before I just jumped into anything and brick my phone. I tried searching and couldn't find anything. Thank you for your useful contribution to my thread, I now understand that developing a rom for Task is just a fraction of the work it takes to deal with all the useless posts contributed.
If anyone else has any other suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thank you

We are off topic here. Lets get it clear here. You all like his work and how he he deals with people here on xda is not my problem alright. I use to be there and had his rom in my sig and fallowed his thread since day one. You all know that.

Not trying to **** storm your thread...just want to give fair warning that we do not know where the IMEI is stored at this point and if these two folks have a PROVEN back up procedure, I'm all ears as are several others.

[Q] kinda lost

ok so first of all im sry if this has been posted elsewhere but ive been looking and cannot find anything. secondly im not sure if this is the right spot but im still gonna post it right here.
now onto the question, basically i had an inspire 4g rooted with ICS which i loved but recently moved to verizon, got a nexus n everything back on the phone except my game data which i backed up on inspire using "my backup". obviously it wont work without me rooting my nexus. im trying to not root this phone unless i truly have to since i dont see the point in it right now since it already has everything i want from the getgo. but basically wat options do i have for getting the data to work on the nexus? i unzipped the backups n everything n am kinda at a lost at wat i can do.
Not much you can do without SU permissions (root). You could try pulling the files you want to copy from Android/Data then pasting them in the same directory on your Nexus. There isn't much value in having a Nexus if you aren't going to root it though. That's just my opinion.

Yea I was kinda figuring that with the whole permissions but I was hoping there was a work around for it n I did what u suggested n it actually worked so I'm good now. Thx for the advise n about the rooting I had a friend do his n it didn't seem like he gained much besides basically what we were talking about n such. So if u could tell me all of the benefits then I may reconsider doing it ASAP lol

I'm not going to sell you on the idea, I have nothing to gain from it whether you do or don't. You are a member of these forums, if you don't see anything that interests you then don't root.

I'm decfently not asking to b sold on the idea. I just have no idea as to wat I gain by doing it on the nexus. I knew that with my inspire I could put ICS on it with no problem n make it tweak it for better performance n get full customization out of it along with the recovery options. I
Well off the top of my head there's:
SetCPU
Modifying Color Multipliers
Root Permissions
Assorted Mods etc.
That's just without changing the ROM.

You can gain quite a bit without even flashing a custom ROM as mentioned above, but some of the Gnex ROMs have insane customisation options...

Rooting and unlocking takes up a lot of your free time. Makes your phone act stupid when you least expect it.

Rooting and unlocking = 15 minutes if you read everything. 30 if you are seriously slow.
Your phone is only as smart as the person using it, if something goes wrong its almost certainly something YOU did. Don't try to blame your experiences on the rooting and unlocking process.

OMG, you really took what I typed LITERALLY. What I meant by "takes up a lot of your time" is all the flashing, troubleshooting, etc. Geez

flashing takes seconds, no need to be flash addict..
troubleshooting? sounds like you flash crappy roms. I have no woes/troubles here.
I haven't seen the reason to root yet but I do plan on it in the future when I get bored n want more. I just didn't see the benefits since I like how ICS n jelly bean n feel but thx for all the info guys. It helped a lot
Just wanted to drop this:

While I respect your answer as being correct: I had a rough time and I tried so hard to read everything, starting with efrant's educational post and all the guides, basics, tips and tricks, etc. By the end of the day I had 12 different tabs open trying to figure out what I had done wrong. It seemed so simple, and yet somehow I ended up having to factory reset, go back to stock and start over, and THEN it took 20 minutes. It was a good learning experience, but frustrating. Turned out it would have taken 20 minutes to begin with, except in all that reading I somehow missed that after you root, the Gnex reboots and you have to wait a while, go through set-up and turn USB debugging back on. I suppose my mistake was not reading through all the guide post replies after the official "guide" post--lesson learned. I took my licks, I suppose. Total n00b, coming into this with basically no knowledge.
Though I really can echo your assertion that it's something "you" did--the unlocking and rooting process is pretty simple. It was my mistake, for sure.

I dont understand?
Do you mean the stock update in a zip format to flash on the phone? check the Samsung site?
Or do you mean roms supporting the new jb release.. if so check the development threads, plenty of the devs are working on updates for it, most likely not out yet
I was looking for the same thing.
In my case, stock rooted JB CWM flashable. I would like to move to JB without chancing the counter. I figured since I have CWM already I would like to flash JB without touching CWM. I haven't seen an ROMS based on the official JB release, or are there?
Bacon rom is stock debloated. Rogers based though. Just need to add att apn
I'm looking for the same thing. Been searching for hours and can't find just a stock rooted AT&T 4.1.1 cwm flashable zip. Does anyone know where one is? Can't believe it is this hard to find.

I have been looking for one as well for days.
I just want a AT&T LK3 which has been rooted, Dodexed, zip aligned with SupeSU in there.
I want to modify it myself, so I want to start from the beginning.
Unfortunately people in here aren't on the ball like over in the Tmobile or Sprint forums. Over there the day their's got offically released, there was an Odin install and a CWM install also immediately. But here no one has released one yet.
Bummer is I don't know how to do it myself or I would. There are many experienced people on here whom I am sure could do it in like 10 minutes. I really wish someone would.
I can't stand people who complain about the devs here. The sense of entitlement makes me sick.

Ok I'm glad I make you sick...so lets move on.
My point was that the devs/whomever on here are well experienced on doing this sort of thing and can do something this simple in practically no time. As I said, the other forums had all that on day one.
I am not asking for a fully modded rom, I just want the basics so I can mod it myself.
I don't think I am acting entitled, I can't change my oil in my car or fix my dishwasher, so I call people who actually know how to do it. Same thing here.
I appreciate what everyone does here, but you KNOW that they have a CWM flash just sitting on their hard drives that they fixed up BEFORE they started doing any mods, so I am just asking anyone who already did what I was asking for to release that cause you know the devs already did it anyway. I would say PRETTY PLEASE if it would help.
I am not trying to be a pain or come off that way.
I can modify a rom myself, but I need a starting point to work with is all.
Here's some Pepto for your stomach.

Your mechanic and dishwasher repairman work for free? No? The devs here do. Not the same thing at all.
No one owes you anything. You want it that bad, learn how to do it yourself. I'm sure people will appreciate it.
Look what this guy did, I might try it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35148492&postcount=1604
He did JB Rooted odin thing and didn't overwrite recovery or cache.
Worked for him.

Looks like my phone broke

Well my phone won't respond to my touch at all. Everything does work, I thought it was the rom but I went into recovery but it just won't do anything when I touch it. The volume buttons work. This is so odd, never had this problem with any of my old phones. It could be the digiziter... As of now I'm going to try a few things, pull the battery for a few minutes, factory reset, install another rom. Oh yeah I'm running cm10.1 yesterday's build I belief. So guys any ideas? Tips? Suggestions? Also how could this happen? I didn't drop it last night. It was working fine expect it had to signal because I was in a basement.
Wow the oddest thing just happened. I took the battery off right, well I put it back in and turned the phone in. I unlock the phone which got me excited obviously, but shortly after it stopped working. This had to be a rom issue or damaged digiziter....
What the hell...I haven't installed or factory reset because the phone was charging. Didn't want to mess with low battery. Well I plugged it into my computer. And guess what? It effing worked! Now the touchscreen works. This is making me scratch my head. What the hell happened? How did connecting it into the computer fixed the computer? You guys have any ideas?
Phone is slowly dying, not a rom issue I don't think. Change the rom just in case to find out. Also Google the issue, it shouldn't be just this phone kinda bug.

I'd Odin back to Stock, root66. This way you can completely eliminate a rom, mod, kernel, etc. Run purely stock for a day or two at least and you will have a better idea as to the cause.

I'll do that, before cm10 I was running miui which was buggy as hell. That rom probably left something behind. I'll Odin, thanks you two.

Report back this is interesting, I haven't seen it on this forum yet.

This is quite interesting indeed. A similar ordeal kept happening when I was still on stock Touchwiz Rom. It's what forced me to look for alternative roms. I haven't had the unresponsive touchscreen ever since, so I'm interested in finding out if switching roms will solve your problem as well.

I've had a problem like this with my last two phones, both being Samsung. My phone prior to the sgs3 was the nexus s. About a year in it started randomly opening apps and pulling open the power menu. I thought it might just be the rom or battery went back to stock and got a new battery and it still continued.. So i finally upgraded to the sgs3. I just started having the same problem on my gs3. It would open the power menu and it would randomly open apps and type on the keyboard. I reverted to stock and it seemed to fix the problem on this phone. It's weird though, it's happened on both of my latest devices.
Thats just weird to me. This is the first ive ever heard of this happening on our GS3's. Hopefully its all just corrupted software or something related and a clean Odin flash will fix it.

I refer you yo the end of your first paragraph. You posted this not yo inform us of your problem, but to ask us for help with it. Even if you managed to avoid any actual "questions", if its even implying that you are asking or requesting, then it belongs in Q&A.
