I unfortunately installed the terrible facebook app on my phone and now that I don't need it any more I tried to uninstall it. Every time I try to uninstall it through Play, system, app drawer etc.., the phone reboots itself. I've tried booting into safe mode, wiping the cache and uninstalling through titanium. Strangely enough the app still works perfectly but I just can't remove it.
Any help is appreciated as I would prefer not to have to do a clean load as I haven't made a backup with my theme the way it is yet.

Yeah, I didn't want to install I reluctantly did. I'm afraid I'm just going to reinstall my ROM and start over. After trying to fix this issue and three reboots later my battery went from 86% to 14%. What a piece of **** app.

Yup, also tried removing the apk in a file manager with no success. I'm able to uninstall other apps through the app drawer but I can't access the App page in settings without the phone rebooting.
check if facebook has a file in the /sdcard/android/data/ or /sdcard/andriod/obb/ folders. if it does, delete it(them) then try to uninstall the app.

Every time I pull up my task manager to close out apps I find Google maps running even though I never opened it.
Is it triggered by another app, like Facebook possibly?
Er sorry, I thought I was in the Q&A forum. If one of the mods want to move this I'd appreciate it.
Download Autostarts from the Play store. You can prevent anything and everything from running on its own. One of the best root apps out there. It will also show you what the triggers are that cause it to start up.

It may depending on the app. It would be easier to just freeze apps that you don't need or use. If you get an error because of a dependency, it's usually far easier to defrost the app than to reinstall it (especially if it is categorized as a system app).

I think I'd prefer that option although I realize re-installing Maps wouldn't exactly be a hassle. It isn't really eating up battery or getting in the way I just wondered why it was always there when I knew I hadn't manually opened it.
Thanks for chiming in, the more I learn the better I enjoy my phone.
Hello.
I have posted this in the forums at Android Central and only got one response. I've had my phone since Feb of this year. Since 11/2 there is major lag. No issues on 11/1. Taps on the home screen are continuously being read as long presses. My lock screen is really laggy, as are home screens and most apps. Bad piggies for whatever reason is working just fine. Most other apps including the keyboard are very laggy. It just seems to be very slow to respond to touch all of a sudden. My phone is rooted stock GB. At AC, I was told an app was hogging RAM. I downloaded Memory Useage from the google play store but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm still getting that lady after killing and uninstalling apps. The lag is still there with the native launcher so I really don't think it has anything to do with GO Launcher. I used TiB to revert GOL back to the previous version. I also uninstalled GOLocker as well. I've done a soft reset but it didn't help.
Is there a way to see my Play update history so I can see which apps installed that night? I've always had the occasional lag but it wasn't ever really a big deal. This is greatly interfering with my use of the phone. I am lucky to type a word before the keyboard disappears. Low resources makes sense but I just can't figure out what app is hogging them.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm thinking of resting back to unrooted GB to upgrade to stock ICS.
The first app in the my apps list is the most recent one. So start uninstalling from the top.. Now if you had installed an app say 2 months ago, uninstalled it a month ago and then reinstalled it today then it won't show at the top of the list. It will be still at that same spot where it was 2 months ago. So keep in mind if you reinstalled some app.
Also you should uninstall apps from applications in settings so you can clear cache and data for that app. Or you restart after each uninstall.

This is so frustrating. In the Play Store App, my "Installed" list is alphabetical and the "All" list is listed by install order with the most recent at the top regardless of timestamp of update. I cannot see any option for changing the order. Should I just go by the TiB list? It is showing the apps in order of update and lets me clear cache and uninstall the apps.

Now I have removed all apps updated on 11/2 or overnight from the evening of 11/1. The only one I can't touch is Kies. I have frozen it with TiB but I'm still getting the super heavy lag. What can I do next? Do I need to just reset the whole device now and start from scratch?
This is really frustrating. I love my phone and haven't had it long enough to switch to something else. Are there any tests that I can perform to check on the screen itself?
I have also installed OS Monitor and the top apps using up the CPU are OS Monitor, SYstem, Google Play Movies & TV, Android System, gzip. THe % used varies from 0% up to 26% they may last only a second or two. Is there something wrong with my phone? I feel like I've exhausted finding a resource hog.
If you have a custom recovery installed then do a nandroid backup and flash a fresh install of something to test it. If its not broke in the test then you can restore tour backup and continue to troubleshoot. Honestly though its easy enough to just start fresh. I do it every few days/weeks on a new rom.
Heck at this point flash something ICS or even JB. I can't think of a reason to ever use a GB rom again.

Paranoid android 2.50. You can make a nandroid backup from el26 kernel with cwm of an pics rom.

I'm currently using codename, great rom. I've only used my nandroid backups several times but they do work. Always just made my backup in whatever custom recovery I was using at the time. Can't remember what recovery I used on GB. Its been a while. Edit just use the el26 blues mentioned above
When switching between ROMs or experimenting I use SMS backup and restore and call log backup and restore from market. Its nice to have those old texts and call logs sometimes.
I use SMS Backup cuz I want to save my texts but I don't know if I need to save my call log.
Thanks for the recommendation. Paranoid Android looks pretty cool.
My external SD card is safe right? Does it need to be backed up as well?

Hello all,
I'm hoping you can help. I flashed PA_d2att-3.60-12JUN2013-050113 and pa_gapps-full-4.2-20130719-signed today and now I'm not able to download all of my apps from the App store. I was able to get a good amount of apps, but when I tried to put on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Twitter, I was getting the Packet File is Invalid message.
I cleared the play store cache from within android but that didn't work. I tried rebooting into TWRP and clearing out all my cache's and that didn't work either.
I saw someone link a 'market fix' app and I even tried that. Nothing seems to be working.
Suggestions?

I'm no help on what the problem is, but I've been having this problem quite a lot lately. I'm on 4.1.1 rooted. Also, the wife's bone stock s4 has been throwing the same error from time to time. I might not be your phone or software. I'm interested to hear other input.

ahh yeah I saw 3.6 stable and completely missed the 3.69. I'll try it tonight when I get home and charge this thing back up. Hopefully that works.
Just tried installing apps again. This time over wifi rather than LTE. They worked. Weird. I could understand if no apps downloaded over LTE, but I downloaded probably 20 or so and only a handful didn't work.
Oh well. I'll stick with this ROM for the moment and see how it behaves over a few days.
Thanks again for pointing out there was a newer one.
Temporary fix anthill Google fix on they end
Unlike other solutions that I have seen, this actually works: Follow the below simply step carefully to solve this problem
1.download this VPN software(hideman) http://www.mediafire.com/download/4b5mato1mtb7vrk/net.hideman_2.1.apk
Or you can still download any other vpn software that can change your ip but I used hideman
2.After you have installed this software on your phone, open it and click on country of connection and choose United State then connect
3. Now open your playstore and download any app
This is just idea from : http://www.droid-life.com/2013/08/0...-is-invalid-error-for-many-during-app-updates . I did not take credit for it.

If you find it with ADB, after I suggest not installing a lot of free apps, especially large amounts of them within a short space, but generally paid apps are worth it. Or you could click yes and see what free apps are offered, maybe they might be developed by the same person/company, and the one you installed might be among those other free apps.

I just uninstalled everything that I've installed in the pass couple of days. And sure enough it's gone. I was trying alot of apps and what-not in the pass week. Thanks very much though for trying to help! :good:
EDIT: Nope...sorry..still there..running out of apps to uninstall...
I running Stock Rooted PK1, I have Titanium Back up and root installed.. I went and removed a lot of bloat ware. But here is the issue I have with newer roms.. When your done and rebooted, I have notice the bloat icons are still there.. If you go and try to remove them exp. Google games, movies the only option you have is to turn it off.. What happened to Titanium actually removing all of that for you.. And I have also noticed when you uninstall it, you start to notice a lot of FC as well.. I have also tried this with stock rooted roms that have some of the bloat already removed, but no enough of it for me.. Has anyone here notice the same thing? Or what is the solution for this.. When I want to get rid of something on my system, I want it completely gone, not just part of it..
I'm disappointed. I thought this thread was going to be about Amy Schumer.

LOL sorry.
Chances are TB is just uninstalling the updates and not the app itself. Try manually checking in system\app or system\priv-app for a folder containing the application. If it's there delete it and reboot, that'll remove them permanently. Be careful though as some apps will begin a fc that won't go away even after reboot. Make a backup first.

All right my screen rotation back, by simply going back to full stock, the rerooting.. Anyone have a list of all the bloat that is safe to remove.. I think I might have removed something that cause the screen roataing issue in the first place.

If you remove Facebook with an app like titanium, you could possibly lose /system/lib/libgnustl_shared.so which has been known for a long time to cause loss of rotation. Why that happens going way back in KitKat, I dunno. Just like I dunno why titanium update zip needs user edit since Lollipop. Great app but needs some work.
You could copy and save /system/lib/libgnustl_shared.so before removing Facebook since you're on stock so you have it to restore, if lost. Or get it from your Note 4 ROM zip if flashed.
I'm usually very conservative with bloat removal. Try freezing and check for effects before uninstalling; you know what to check now.
I'm more concerned about the apps that auto run in background without user launching so watch for that. Useless apps take resources away from rooted users; most likely you want to make resources available for custom apps. So make room for them. Debloat makes sense as long as you're not removing function.
