Hi there
I have wiped data, cache, dalvik cache and fix permissions, flashed Remics 1.8 and Gapps 20120429 and i'm stuck at Remics boot animation.
I am trying for the second time, this time I wiped data, cache before flashing gaps too but it's booting for 15 minutes now and still waiting.
The ROM was released today so I have no feedback. Anyone tried it already?
Thanks

To make sure you have the full file try checking the size, download the file, check size, if same click cancel and if not same delete the incomplete version(sometimes it's just a network problem, happened to me before)
After checking you have full sizes, follow these steps:
(1) copying the files to you phone.
1- use CWM, connect usb to computer.
2- go to mounts and storage.
3- connect usb storage.
4- copy files to the phone's internal memory.
(2) flash the rom.
1- go to mounts and storage(again)
2-format /system /data /cache
3- go back and wipe data(just to make sure) then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache.
4- go back and flash rom and Gapps.
5- again go to advanced and but now fix permissions.
6-reboot and enjoy!
Press The Thanks Button If I Helped.
Thanks
I had to install another rom but i'll try it again tonight and than i'll let you know if it worked. Thanks for helping me.
Didn't work but I guess it's a problem with the rom and the developer is trying to fix it, but thank you for your advise! :good:

as mhrsolanki2020 said ... When flashing rom, always boot it, and after reboot flash any changes that you want, like data/link2sd,gapps,gps fixes and so on ...
never flash few things in one step.
also clean cache and dalvik every time you flash new rom ..
I don't think he wiped data or cache.
You can flash cm7 and gapps at the same time with no issues.
I prefer doing it like this rather than multiple restarts and then I setup my accounts on first boot its never given me any problems.
Try again make sure in clockwork mod recovery you:
wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Then goto advance and wipe dalvik
Then flash cm7
Then flash gapps
Restart and all should be fine.
Good luck.
so are those the steps i need?
and can u give me a link of the gapps i am supposed to use please?

here you go mate ht tp://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
can you give me the steps i need to fix the black screen please?
Boot into recovery clockwork mod and do what I said above and you'll be fine.
so once i flash cyanogen i do not reboot first, but i directly flash the gapps as well?
Yes that's how I been doin it for many months
Make sure to wipe the data that I said in previous post or it wont boot.
Its an important step when flashing a rom.
Like the problems that previously occurred.
sorry for so many questions but,
is it either wipe data or factory reset or both?
"wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Then goto advance and wipe dalvik
Then flash cm7
Then flash gapps"
'Data/factory reset' is the same thing
Then 'wipe cache partition'
Then in advance right at the bottom of clockwork mod 'wipe dalvik'
Once done click back then chose install zip from SD
Choose your rom file then confirm.
Then when finished click back.
Then install zip from SD select gapps file and confirm.
Once finished click reboot system.
Done.
will this work for sure? or will it give me the black screen again?
If you do everything I said in the same order it should definitely work my friend.
Is your mobile a GSM or cdma? Does it use a sim card?
Thank you so very much!!!!
No problem.
I'm guessing your up and running And hopefully very happy.
Good luck and all the best.
You're a life saver!!!
Hi I've tried to change my Build. I'm currently using Android Revolution HD. I've got the kernel the program came with - android-build. I have tried changing it over to a whole of builds. AOKP, Gummy
It never successfully launches any of them.
Every time I wipe data, cache and I wipe Dalvik too.
I don't know what to do...
Is there any one who is on Rogers that can do this?
Thanks guys

Don't really make sense??? Try to also format system in recovery ( it won't touch ur personal stuff ) then do all the other wipes then try flash another Rom if that don't work I.got nothing, if u can't figure out there's always fastboot stock Google .img
Can you provide a step-by-step instruction on how you tried to update your Galaxy Nexus ? I'm not on Rogers (I'm on TELUS), but still, maybe we can help you and see if you are following the right path !
You're not doing something right if you can't get another ROM installed.
Do this.
Make sure ROM and Gapps package for that ROM is on your SD card
Reboot into recovery
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Go to Advanced, Wipe dalvik
Go to Mounts and Storage, format system, and cache
INSTALL ROM based on 4.03
Install Gapps
Reboot and Enjoy

Look in the dev section, Modpunk's CM9 Alpha5.
Download-Move to SD-Enter recovery-Wipe data-Wipe Dalvik-install zip-install gapps.
-----------
"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
Modpunk's CM9 is the only CM9 that can be seen as stable enough for daily usage.

I'll second this!
Even though he says to not use it for Everyday use.. It's rather nice and it's stable for me so far, it has some nice features in it too.
This is the first Android phone i've had along with the first rooted phone and the first custom ROM.
I'm really happy I decided to try this, but make sure you clear the cache, clear the dalvik cache, reset to factory settings, then clean the cache again. It will then take a little while on first boot, be sure to install the gapps too (specific for this ROM) - I think? :fingers-crossed:
I've got my Wildfire overclocked to 768MHz and it's a rather nice boost, just makes it that bit smoother for a few things. I've also got the minimum set to 200MHz from 245 to save battery! :good:
You'll want release 5 of the ROM though, I tried 4 and the Camera didn't work (as the update log says).

yes just flash them after you flash the ROM. No need to clear cache or do a factory reset if you have installed the ROM and are flashing the google apps.

Just like the title suggests, which KT747 kernal is compatible with CM10? Every time I flash the kernel my phone wont boot and I have to restore from a backup. I am currently on CM10-10/22 build 10827 and the KT747 kernel I am trying is the AOSP-JB-ATT-10-22-2012. I do have a ATT Galaxy S3 so I would assume that this should work?
Thanks for everyone's time!
Zehel
There is a version for pre 10-14 CM10 and one for after.
After you flash your ROM be sure to fully boot your device into android then go back into recovery again and then flash kt747 , then wipe cache+dalvik +fix permission . Reboot

Ah! Fix permissions could be a huge part of the problem. Let me try that and see if that fixes my problem. Also, maybe I am blind but I can't seem to find the one for CM. Is there a separate thread for the CM Kernel or is it in the thread by Ktoonsez?
Thanks again,
ZS

Hey man, do you mind sharing what you did to make the kernel work?
I have almost the same issue as you did before, and tried everything I know (including reflectingod's method), still doesn't work at all.

Well, to be more specific, KT747 kernel doesn't work at all on my GS3. I am using ATT variant i747, with task's AOKP ROM. I followed the full wipe -> ROM -> gapp -> kernel steps strictly, and was sure using the post-1014-JB kernel to pair with 1022 AOKP release, But still, my phone is suffering random hot reboot, black screen, system process are terminated randomly, and any opened apps will be closed within mins. Yes, I have cache/dalvik wiped after flashing the kernel, and permissions are fixed. I also tried to flash ROM first, then log on to system, then flash kernel, makes no difference. I really don't have a clue why KT747 kernel doesn't work on my phone, any suggestion is welcome.
I would suggest you to do a complete clean installation:
1. Wipe data
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe dalvik
4. Format /system
5. Format / data
6. Format / cache
7. Reboot recovery
8. Wipe data
9. Wipe Cache
10. Wipe dalvik
11. Mount /System
12. Install Rom
13. Install Gapp
14. Fix permission
15. Reboot & Setup your phone
16. Install Kernel
17. Wipe Cache
18. Wipe dalvik
19. Fix permission
It should be fine then.

Rom is supposed to be flashed first. If you don't it overwrites the kernel with the one pre-loaded on with the Rom.Otherwise follow everyone else's instructions >Cache/Dalvik/FixPerms after flash. Go into settings and see that the kernel is there. Good luck
Ok, so i was using the cyanogenmod nightlys just fine until i decided to want to try other roms (Pac-man, exodus, etc.) when i loaded the first i used clockwork recovery and it seemed to go smoothly and installed the Gapps, and BAM boot loop, i can still access the recovery menu and the Odin mode menus with the boot sequence, ive successfully side-loaded other roms and Gapps and nothing seems to work, everything just gives me the boot loop, Any help is much appreciated.
Edit: forgot to mention, sometimes it loads the rom but only for a few seconds and reboots again
Assume you did clean flash? Wiping data, cache, dalvik cache.
Also twrp recovery works a little better flashing lollipop roms.

yes, i did a clean flash, do you think it could be as simple as using twrp?
Could even be the gapps you're using. If you're using a very recent build of a rom, make sure you're using new gapps. Try open gapps.
It's also sometimes necessary to wipe internal storage.

In twrp. Wipe/advanced wipe/ internal storage. Make sure you have anything you need from internal backed up.
