Galaxy y startup crash fix! - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

HI fellow SGY users as you know our device suffers from the extremely annoying phenomenon of startup crashes you turn on your and you touch something it crashes you turn on your phone and you touch nothing it crashes this is particularly annoying for me because I'm on repencis Rom which takes very long to boot up meaning after waiting forever for my phone to boot when it finally does it still continuously crashes I've had moments where I've waited over an hour between turning on my phone and actually using it and the thing is this doesn't occur when you just get your phone because you haven't installed anything yet....well anyways I think I've discovered a "fix" for this annoyance what you do is
1.Turn off your phone
2.Take out your memory card
3.Turn on your phone (without your memory card you're phone's guaranteed not to crash)
4.K now that it's on wait for it to come on properly meaning it isn't lagging well lagging more than usual lol
5.K now don't just put back in your memory card otherwise you got like 20 secs b4 a crash
6.Go into settings
7.Then sd card and phone storage (or something to that effect)
8.Now insert your memory card and wait for it to finish scanning and then still give it about 2-3mins just to be safe
9.Now you can use your phone without pesky crashes...hopefully lol
10.Comment below if this worked for your

Or you can just use any startup app managers to disable media scanner at phone startup...
ES Task manager has this ability.. so try that.. pretty easy & no hustle if you ask me.
Disable media scanner will do exactly what you are trying here.. & its a tiny app too.
Anyway nice write up:thumbup:

That sounds like a good idea but wouldn't that mean Es task manager would have to be installed on system or phone memory since it wouldn't be able to disable the process otherwise since media scan would have to already been completed in order for es to attempt to disable it or is startup dictated by some sought of list that it rewrites also is this the process needed to be disabled

Nope.. nothing as such... it writes to a file which is used by os to see which services to start at boot up..
So you can install that app wherever you like.. I have it on my sdcard.. linked I mean to second partition..
And you can uninstall the app and it will be still disabled..

an antivirus app only uses resources, it isn't necessary
Actually it is though I've only ran into to 1 virus in my time with android (not counting adware) it was a SMS sender meaning it would have sent a crap load of SMS's to people in my phonebook which would have costed me money and created some awkward situations

Phase Beam Wallpaper using Data?

I was just checking on where I stand with this months data usage and I noticed that the Phase Beam live wallpaper was the highest data hog this month. 1)Why is a live wallpaper using data if it has nothing to do with retrieving information of any type? And 2) Why is it doing it when I have never used it as a wallpaper?

Lovely responses and ever so helpful. Sigh
I'll try to take a peek at the phase beam lwp code and see if I can verify that it is indeed using data.
If you post your apk that would be even better, as I don't know if what you and I have are the same ones.

If you're rooted (and if not, why not!), you can use es explorer (very useful! ) and find it likely under /system/app or /data/app. Then you can copy it to your sdcard and do whatever with it.

Has anyone found a reason for phase beam using data?
I cracked open the apk originally provided and went through the code. There is absolutely no indication of network access anywhere.
So, I'm wondering how you're seeing data being used by phasebeam and exactly how accurate that determination is. I see the image in OP, but that doesn't make any sense at all. :/

I know on my Skyrocket when I would remove an app that used data or disabled an app that used data the stock data manager would assign whatever data usage of the app removed to another app or just show a green Android next to an amount of data. I have no idea how it would choose.
I'm on the sprint GS4 and I see this same thing. but mine isn't using a bit, its pulled over a GB of data!

2) Press the Home Button downward or press it little bit its down. Then quickly press the Power Button to take the screenshots. (do not remove your finger before clicking the power button i.e home button + power button)

Here are some screenshots.

Help with adware/possible virus - unroooted stock phone

I need help with what I think is adware on my LG G3. It is not rooted or anything..just stock. Every morning and sometimes throughout the day my phone will go to a browser (today I took a screenshot and it was Firefox) and a box will come up claiming I won a prize through facebook. I know its an ad so I just back out of it. In the past there have also been messages about updating the android system, boosting the battery, etc. I run avast and malwarebytes scans and they don't find anything. Sometimes my phone just seems to act up, be slow and the screen is not responsive. I'm not sure if it's because of this issue or not. Please help!
Does anyone maybe have a solution?
It's hard for me to tell and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in but did you install any app you suspect? AirPush detector from Google Play may find the app.
Yeah I tried AirPush..it detected Trivia Crack so I uninstalled it. I mean I haven't really been playing it lately but that kinda sucks in case I did want to play. So I guess I'll see if the ads stop now.
Yeah..even after uninstalling trivia crack ads are popping up

I installed it but then I guess it wasn't set up right. I didn't really want to try to figure it out more so I've just been dealing with the ads and just backing out when they pop up. That would only block the ads anyways right? I would rather they totally be gone if that's possible. Would factory resetting the phone get rid of the ads?

Here is little guide to setup ad-block if you are still inclined... https://adblockplus.org/en/android-config
You can also set up adblocker as an add-on to firefox, but if random browsers keep popping up with ads I don't think that'll help much.
But I believe a factory reset would take care of it. Just back everything up & good luck
What apps do you have on your phone have you installed third party applications or have you installed things from other then google play. Have you downloaded any files recently pictures, music,

it would be great if we could see a screenshot of the ad.
usually when you get some ad or pop up you can go to your status bar and press and hold the ad. this will take you to the app that is running the ad then you can uninstall it.

I haven't installed any third party apps other than the adblock plus. I only use google play. Yeah..I downloaded some music and that seems to be when the ads started. Will simply removing those songs get rid of the ads?

I might have an old screenshot but the ad changes. It hasn't popped up again for me to be able to take another screenshot. Also my phone doesn't want to recognize my SD card even though I have taken it out and restarted my phone multiple times..very frustrating..that is another issue I would like figured out..So I can't tell if that old screenshot is on there at all.
Has the SD card been damaged? Try putting a different SD card in the phoblne and see if it works

Is there any way to port that peeking feature that is triggered by swiping down on the turned-off screen to G3 ? It would be great
