are your adb drivers enabled? i tried tooting my arc s before and i thought that if i connect it and install the drivers i can go to rooting but then i found out that my windows don't enable the drivers automatically so i had to do it manually.
Thanks for sharing so much information. We'll definitely help you now.
Seriously. Give us more information, what phone, what firmware, what method you are trying to use. Otherwise - No.
Flash stock ROM .587
Set Settings->Xperia->USB Connectivity to MSC
Set USB Debugging
Enable Unknown Sources
flash the ready to root kernel .431
apply the root toolkit
flash stock .587 kernel
It worked for me

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone help me out in rooting my Xperia Arc Lt15i?
I'm trying to use the SuperOneClick to root my device but I don't know how, it so much complicated. Even through I followed the steps in online but I stuck in the middle of the steps. Does anyone could kindly please post up any good instruction for me to go on for the root process?
*I have downgrade it to 0.42
I'm a new android user.
okies i'm going to assume you want to have the latest version of android OS on your arc
1. Download a ready to root ftf for your Lt15i. Here is one
2. Use flashtool to flash the ftf onto your phone. There are a lot of tutorials on youtube, but here's one I thought was great.
3. Download this and unzip it. Put your phone in debugging mode and plug the phone to the PC. Run the 'RunMe.bat' file and the file should root your phone automatically.
4. When the program says 'done', close it.
5. afterwards, download this kernel and flash it to your phone and you're done!

Thanks for providing the instruction for me. Anyway I've flashed my phone with the reference here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560777 with the link provided by jlmcr87 for the firmware and flashtool. So it became from version 0.62 into 0.42. But the tutorials on youtube was something 0.283? Looks weird. Can you tell me whats the difference?
The only difference is the version of firmware you are flashing. You can always update it through pc companion once you've flashed the firmware

Hey guys,
I am trying to root my Arc S using this tutorial (posted by Overlord)
this tutorial is for 4.1.B.0.587 only!
1) flash the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel http://www.mediafire.com/?twn09p8ekug46f7 (thanks to sathurnn)
note: you might get errors after the reboot, don't worry, this is normal and step 3 will fix that.
2) root your Arc/s with DooMLoRD's tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1601038
3) flash the 4.1.B.0.587 kernel
Arc kernel only:
http://i.minus.com/1345398372/ZK_e-m...ernel_only.ftf
Arc S kernel only:
http://i.minus.com/1345808607/vsMMtn...ernel_only.ftf

Now I flash the kernel he provides with the Flashtool and although it doesnt return any errors, at the end when it says "Phone is now rebooting" it doesnt actually reboot. When I unplug it, it reboots just fine but then when I try to root my Arc S using Doomlords root tool also provided above it returns "Permission Denied. Read-only. Could not install Superuser.apk" and other Permission denied errors.
I have got USB Debugging enabled and Unkown sources. I have a locked bootloader, do I have to unlock it first?
Thanks!
Yes, you must unlock bootloader to use flashtool.

Only if you want to flash a kernel.
Root Xperia ZL with Latest .2.67 fw (Yes The Latest 10.3.1.A.2.67)
I Take no credit for this I have done zero development work
All credits to the great @DooMLoRD
This is a just a Guide telling how to implement his method
Requirement
Latest Flashtool https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hAoiy5gSGVZU5zOHU4TFdJTkk/preview
latest Ftf file for fw .2.67
Ftf file for fw .423
Latest DoomLord Rooting Kit v18 (no else would work in this case)http://www76.zippyshare.com/v/29480564/file.html
Make sure device is on latest .2.67 fw (If not then wait for the official update)
NOTE: We need complete file only to flash the Kernel.sin & Loader.sin
OR
Use the files provided by me which contain the required files only (easier method)
These kernel files are from C6502 if you have another device they might not work. In that case use the complete FTF files for your device and root using complete ftf method
Latest .2.67 Kernel file https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hAoiy5gSGVWktnM2p1MTk2VFU/edit
Older .423 Kernel file https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hAoiy5gSGVbmtOY2lyMUc0OXM/edit?pli=1
How (Using complete ftf packages)
Flash only the kernel.sin & loader.sin from older .423ftf package using FlashTool
Uncheck all wipe options
Check all exclude option EXCEPT Exclude Kernel
Now flash this using flashtool
Reboot the device and make sure USB Debugging & Unknown Sources are allowed in settings
Now root using the latest DoomLord Kit v18 (No other version of kit will work)
Turn Off the Device and put in Flash Mode (Press Volume Down while attaching usb cable)
Now open the latest .2.67 ftf package and repeat the check and uncheck process as earlier
Flash only the Kernel.sin & Loader.sin
Reboot the Device
Done !!
OR
How (Using given ftf files) EASIER WAY
These kernel files are from C6502 if you have another device they might not work. In that case use the complete FTF files for your device and root using complete ftf method
Flash the .423 kernel ftf package using FlashTool
Reboot the device and make sure USB Debugging & Unknown Sources are allowed in settings
Now root using the latest DoomLord Kit v18 (No other version of kit will work)
Turn Off the Device and put in Flash Mode (Press Volume Down while attaching usb cable)
Now open the latest .2.67 kernel ftf package and flash it
Reboot the Device
Done !!
I take no responsibility for any kind of damage to your Phone
Do all this at your own risk
Thankyou @DooMLoRD for your great work

If theres is problem do PM me I will remove it
Thank You
Thanks for the guide!
The mobile ist rooted allright, but i noticed that the information (in the settings) about the kernel Version is the same as the one when I had flashed the .423 kernel. Did sth. go wrong? According to Flashtool flashing the kernels was successful. I added a screenshot of the current status. Is this the right .67 kernel?

Could someone share a prerooted flashable zip of the newest firmware for those who don't have access to a pc?

For some reason the doomlord exploit kept repeating device not found error so I wasn't able to flash. I installed the flash/fastboot drivers, wondering if I missed anything.

On mine, the numbers are the same and I have just flashed via PC Companion and did not root yet.
As sanjulgupta mentioned my ADB drivers were incorrect. I went through this process, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446666 for the drivers, it works now!
Thanks, worked like a charm

Hi everyone,
Im new to rooting so dont shame me here, be nice
I followed the steps by DoomLord to root my ZL, downloaded the ADB drivers properly (when tested, it shows my model number),
also flashed .423 kernel as instructed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2458268
Everything went well until i tried the 1 click DoomLord root and i got this error as attached.
When i checked after that using rooter checker, my phone is not rooted.
Can someone help me? Thanks
In there the phone detected that your phone is on 2.67....are you sure that you flash. 423 correctly...?

YEp. Looks like there was an issue with the step that tells you to flash the .423 kernel ftf.
Try re-downloading that ftf file and flashing it again (then set USB debugging & Unknown sources to ON) and run the DoomLoRD Rooting Kit v18 again.
I had the same error and ends up I flashed the other kernel ftf file by accident.
Hello to all,
I want to install on my Xperia Arc S rom "MIUI"
and I need to flash your kernel with Flashtool
Then boot into fastboot mode (blue light) the pc recognizes it
I select and open flashtool to flash the file.img
only that the procedure terminates and says "Failed Flashing Kernel"
Debugging is checked, the unknown origins but also can not install the kenerl I tried other tools but also have said that it has failed
Latest Flashtool - checked
Unlocked Bootloader - checked
Rooted Device - I have not rooted it
Flashtool Driver installed - checked
ADB drivers - checked
P.S. for root permissions I tried to get them with the tools Eroot but I do not detect my phone
while the pc, no unknown device
sorry for bad english
The first thing you need to do is rooting your device otherwise you literally can't do s*** with it.
And be sure to have usb debugging mode really enabled. Eroot should detect your phone.
Otherwise you can also use one-click-root.
Only after that you can install custom roms.
Is your boatloader unlocked?
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using Tapatalk 2
Yes the bootloader is unlocked
the USB debug is active but the (root) software don't detect my phone
You don't need root to flash kernel.
Post the full fastboot log of the kernel installation, then we can see further.
someguyfromhell is right, you don't need root to flash a Kernel!!!!
Have you tried downloading or extracting the kernel again?
Also as an afterthought, maybe you could try flashing a stock ICS 4.1.B.0.587 full ftf, which will clean the kernel cache...
