Hello everyone,
So here's my situation...my gf bought me a 1 year old DHD last thursday and when she tried the phone when her FIDO sim and stock software everything went fine...
Friday i learned on this forum about rooting and rom flashing. I had fun with Jellytime or Sabsa just experiencing the phone.
BTW i used ace hack so i have clockwork, and i remember that the software asked me to download a file called P98IMG cause i had to downgrade following the info i found. But as i am a 3 day noob...don't expect anything for now...(i read the ace hack manual)
I thing i've learned alot in the last few days, so here's my conclusion...i ****ed up something with the antenna...stuff like that
I'm trying to figure out about antenna+rils+ruu...(what's a RUU??)
My actual antenna number from bootloader is : 26.10.04.03_M
Now the phone is in Montreal (sorry for my english) and i just got the phone swap @ the store with a new simcard...but no signal
so i tried my gf simcard from fido and i got a very low signal on/off for a couple of minute and pouf!! nothing...
the phone comes from europe on SFR and the phone is unlocked AND WORKED on stock (did i just burned my $$)??...i imei-number.com my number and it says :

Update : The APN is in accordance to provider requirements, now the phone see's a network called EXT and when i try to connect it says that my sim card can't do blablabla...still can't see BELL network...but the APN was already setup i didn't had to enter the details manually??
Here's the detail of HTC sync : current system firmware 1.14.401.1 CL92876 release-keys
maybe it can help...
The euro dhd uses different frequencies for 3g than that of north America (Europe 900/2100 , NA 850/1900)
Normally in this scenario the phone would fallback to GSM(edge/2g) signals BUT bell and telus don't have a GSM network to fall back on. Its only hspa. So if you don't get 3g then no service for you(with this phone). Unfortunately their is nothing you can do outside of getting a different phone(Nam desire HD or other campatible phone) or switching carriers though you would be stuck on 2g

I have finally acquired a data plan from my cell provider, and today I set up the APN settings for it. However, whenever I turn off the wifi, I only get the "G" (GPRS) icon in the status bar, with unbelievable slow download/upload speeds.
I just now tried flashing my radio to Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF (Even though I believe I had it before as well), and still I can't get it up to "H" (HSPDA).
I asked a co-worker with a Galaxy S on the same cell provider, and he has HSPDA speed at the same location as I. I also compared his APN settings to mine.
What can cause this error? Should I try flashing a different radio? is the Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M or Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 better in any way? Are they stable? Is this even the cause of my problem?
I have moved this question from the "Android Development" forum (sorry) - and over there I was told to use
*#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information -> WCDMA preferred
or
*#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information -> GSM auto prl
I tried both options, and when I tried "WCDMA only" I got disconnected, when I use any "preferred" setting, I get "Network type: GPRS".
I checked with my co-worker, and he has "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)" - trying that I am still stuck on "GPRS" as my network type (He has "HSPDA" on his network type)
Are there any other hidden locations I need to check, in order to finally get HSPDA?
where did you buy it?
there are different "versions" out there with different frequencies.
"G" (GSM) is available in every country..but EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, etc have different frequencies..that could be a reason why it doesnt work.

I have ordered my DHD from France, but I believe it came from Spain, according to the English (Spain) and English (Catalan) languages on it.
Where can I see what frequencies it support, and how can I change it/fix it?
I just checked. The DHD is
Europe:
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Both Israel and Spain (And France) is on 2100, so I think it should be OK...
seems that this is not the problem
if it would've been the wrong "revision" with different frequencies, you couldn't have done anything.
seems like a software problem...does other sim cards work?
DN41
Try
Settings, wireless and networks, mobile networks, network modes.
This give options for WCDMA only, GSM only and GSM/WCDMA auto.
Hope this helps.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
you might also want to check you have a 3G capable sim card, if you have only just aquired a data plan
Someone once told me there is no such thing as 3G sim - they are all basically the same, except for the on card memory size (64/32MB, or something like that). I wasn't too sure he was right, but then my cell provider just told me he can give me the data plan, without the need to physically upgrade the sim card. Then again - what do they know?
Do you think it might be the case?

Yeah, pretty sure there's no 3G SIM card. The SIM card only identifies you to the network.
Yes, it was the sim card. Apparently mine was quite antique... Now it works just fine with H/3G.
Thanks for the help, though.

it's an orange thing, i couldnt get 3G for ages on orange, turned out they had only recently started providing 3G capable sim cards to PAYG customers lol
Hi I just got my new mini duo, after using Note 2 for a year. I am happy with the phone, I needed something small, powerful, and with dual sim. Some questions please:
1. I use "Network signal info Pro" with the same sim card, Note 2 shows me HSPA* 21.1 Mb/s but Mini Duo only 14.4 Mb/s, why is that please?
2. is it possible to do screen shot as it was in N2 just by swaping your palm from one side to another?
3. SIM CARD Manager - Dual sim always on - after choosing it the screen says:
sim 1
call forwarding: Failed
call waiting: Enabled
sim 2
call forwarding: Failed
call waiting: Enabled
and the Dual SIM always on is not activated
Is this correct or all the options should be ENABLED?
4. Any chance to have LED notification?
5. Is there any way to connect Mini to TV as I could N2? Seems I can't use the same cable
thanks for all the answers.
I'll probably be posting some more questions
5. No. MHL and OTG are not supported
6. I got a 32mb samsung sd card. Everything works fine till I start moving apps from device memory to sd card in Application manager from Settings. After moving one or more app, I can't use sd card, can't make a folder, can't make camera recording to sd card etc.........what the hell ?
1. mine shows hspa * 14.4Mb/s
2. feature not suported by stock, and haven't seen that mod, good luck in your search.
3. these feature have to be supported by your network provider, for me its enabled, this is how it works
if the feature is off
while you are on call-A on sim1, Call-B to sim2, call-B rejected as if the phone is off.
if the feature is on (as in mine)
while yo are on a call-A on sim1, Call-B to sim2, call-B is forwarded to sim1, yo get the option to hold call-A (put in waiting mode) and answer Call-B
4. you will need a kernel that suports bln and use leds from touch keys or something, still there is no kernel with that.
6. i have a samsung 32gb class10 and cant reproduce your problem moved apps and everything works fine.

Thank you for your replies guys.
1. Any idea why N2 shows 21Mb/s? Does it mean the same network works faster on N2 than S4 mini Duo?
3. Hmm I thought Three UK is one of the best networks in the UK, shame they dont support it
6. I have exactly the same card. the problem is still present although I formatted the card twice in the phone...........
After moving apps from the phone to sd cards, X-plore shown me many folders and files with unidentified letters........some of the apps can't be transferred back to device memory.......do you think the card is broken? what else can I do?
This is the card I have: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281156918962?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Do you have enabled the "Receive incoming calls" in SIM Card Manager? because when it is enabled the data transfer speed will be reduced.

Thanks for that but it doesn't help.
My old Note 2 still shows HSPA+* 21.6 Mb/s while the same sim card (3UK) in my Mini Duos shows HSPA* 14.4 Mb/s (so there is no "+" and the speed is much lower)
sorry to tell you this, but S4 mini duos supports only 14.4 HSDPA.
i too used to own a note 2 and the data speeds on the mini are clearly lower.
:crying
Edit:
I just noticed on the back of the box it says the mini duos supports 21.1 Mbps, but i never saw it connect betond 14.4 or get any speeds that may reach 21.1.
:
I believe that may be the "current speed" against "default speed", mine shows 14.4Mpbs most of the time too.
However, if running the device with wifi, then deep sleep, wake up the device, run the apps, it firstly shows UTMS 384kps, then 21.6Mbps and falling down to 14.4Mpbs eventually. It means that the device does support up to 21.6Mbps and mostly depending on your telco and the distance between your device and the base station.
Similar to the wifi, it can shows up to 144Mbps if it closes to the wifi hotspot and drops to 72Mbps quickly once leaves for a few metres.
the s4 mini seems to have lower speeds or have less stable connections in the same areas and useing the same sim where the Note 2 excelled.
i noticed that from day one, as with the note2 used to get stable h+ connection and upto 5 mb/s on speedtest, while with the mini never get h+ and the max i got is 2 mb/s in the sam spot at my house.
seeing that i actually paid more for the mini that i sold my note2 for, and that the mini is marketed as an upmarket/premium handset for those that don't want big screens, this is actually very disappointing and depressing.
i really like its size and don;t want to lose money selling it for an s3 or s4.

not to do more to make
Try testing your device with your wife's SIM card, and test your SIM card in her device. If her device has problems with your SIM, then you need to replace the SIM.
greetings
I did change the sim card from my wife, the problem continues
look in google was saying off gps, gps and disable the problem continues
My last resort is to find a sim card from claro.RD (verizon) that works with the same band tmobile ...
So your wifes phone started having the same problems when you put your SIM card in? If so then yes, you probably just need a replacement.
You should also put her SIM card in your device, just to make sure everything works as expected.
I don't seem to find the SIM Toolkit even in the application list from settings. I need this because the tablet doesn't work with a SIM card from Digi Mobil Romania which only uses this band. I called at their service and told me to access the sim Toolkit app because there is an option 'Change IMSI' which allows me to connect to a national roaming network(crom Vodafone) which uses the 900 MHz band.
Plecase help me If You can. I need to use the sim only for internet(actually unlimited) but cannot connect to their network. IT remains on 'No Service' status even If IT says that it is registered in the network.
I need to mention that I am not an advanced user but I know some stuff.
I need to fix one of those problems(best would Be If both would get solved). I mean getting a successful way to install an stk.apk or to solve the problem with the 2100 MHz network on 3G.
P.S. My Nexus 7 2013 is LTE, rooted and unlocked its bootloader(even If I can't access its recovery menu- says no command), still not upgraded to Lollipop( my version is shown in picture)
Thank You in advance!
Forgot about the picture.
I also might want to say that I couldn't install busybox, it told me that they 'couldn't find out....'. I hope this would solve.
Another thing to be mentioned is that the SIM card works in my HTC One Mini so the problem doesn't come from it. Furthermore, my N7 works with SIM cards from Orange Romania and Vodafone Romania - both are using the 900 MHz frequency.
BTW I rooted my tablet using an app(Towelroot I believe) not a PC.
I have and HTC 10 from Taiwan, which I use in Netherlands. This was working well until the upgrade to Android 7.0. Since then, I get only partial network registration on Vodafone NL.
Nature of the problem:
- Calls and 4g work, SMS does not work.
- Menu selections in calls ("dial 1 for ...", etc.) does not work.
- After coming back from flight mode, calls work, but 4g only works after phone reboot.
- No display of cellular network signal strength.
- Network settings does not show information on cellular network.
- Phone identity does not show IMEI.
Other aspects:
- When roaming in any other country in Europe, there is no problem.
- SIM card of different network (T-Mobile for example) works fine.
I have called both Vodafone NL and HTC NL. Vodafone refers to HTC, which I believe is correct. HTC admitted after some time that there were some complaints, but have not offered any solution so far.
My question is if this is a problem that can be solved on the phone as it is, or should I install a different ROM version?
My current (stock) ROM version is 2.41.709.7 and I have friends in NL with a different (stock) ROM version which works fine, but these are NL phones and I have a TW version which I am not sure if there is any risk for HW incompatibility.
Thanks.
