I have and HTC 10 from Taiwan, which I use in Netherlands. This was working well until the upgrade to Android 7.0. Since then, I get only partial network registration on Vodafone NL.
Nature of the problem:
- Calls and 4g work, SMS does not work.
- Menu selections in calls ("dial 1 for ...", etc.) does not work.
- After coming back from flight mode, calls work, but 4g only works after phone reboot.
- No display of cellular network signal strength.
- Network settings does not show information on cellular network.
- Phone identity does not show IMEI.
Other aspects:
- When roaming in any other country in Europe, there is no problem.
- SIM card of different network (T-Mobile for example) works fine.
I have called both Vodafone NL and HTC NL. Vodafone refers to HTC, which I believe is correct. HTC admitted after some time that there were some complaints, but have not offered any solution so far.
My question is if this is a problem that can be solved on the phone as it is, or should I install a different ROM version?
My current (stock) ROM version is 2.41.709.7 and I have friends in NL with a different (stock) ROM version which works fine, but these are NL phones and I have a TW version which I am not sure if there is any risk for HW incompatibility.
Thanks.

Hi All,
I've trawled and searched but cant find anything specific to help me resolve my issue:
I have a Note 8 with 3G (GT-N5100) which I purchased from overseas as the 3G versions are available in Australia.
Since first receiving it I've had issues and had no support from the supplier. Initially it was locked in Factory Mode which meant Rooting and flashing the device. Once this was fixed I went out and bought a Mobile Data SIM to take advantage of the reason I bought it from overseas. However I cannot get any mobile data access.
I have tried the following:
Getting a new SIM
Have the carrier re-provision the service. This has been tested in a Note 10.1 and is working fine.
Tried different firmware.
Updated the APN's to no avail.
And today updated to 4.2.2
But I still have the following issues under device status:
Network: Unknown
Signal strength: -85dBm 14 asu
Mobile network Type: UMTS:3
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not Roaming
Mobile network state: Disconnected
My Phone Number: Unknown
IMEI: 004999 and some more numbers so there is an IMEI
IMEI SV: 01
When I swap SIMs to different carriers the Data APN's change to match the carrier, so it looks like the SIM reader in the device is picking it up. I also have the signal strength meter in the top left.
I'm sure it probably related to the device not being sent out in an active state (ie Factory Mode) and will need to have a setting turned on to enable the modem, I just cant find a suitable reference to doing this.
Thanks for you help.
Simon
Looking further into it, as its showing UMTS 3 something is not quite right here.
I believe that I should be on UMTS 5 which is for Telstra Australia and using the 850Mhz network band.
What controls this and how do I change the bands?
** Further reading suggests that I need to change the CSC. After following a number of articles it looks like I cannot select the XSA CSC within the German ROM. I'm assuming I'll have to wait for a different country to become available that has Australia in it, does this seem correct or can I add CSC information without having it in the distribution file?
Hey, I couldn't really find anything similar, so making a post. I have just moved to China and brought my HTC One X with me from the UK. It is a Vodafone contract phone, so it is unlocked but running the Vodafone brand software.
I have bought a China Unicom SIM card, of which calls and texts work fine, but there is no mobile data, it just says disconnected. When I go into the mobile data settings, it has the network operator down as China Unicom and network mode as GSM/WCDMA auto. When I put my Vodafone SIM back in there is also no connection.
It have checked the SIM in someones Chinese phone and it works fine.
I'm not really a phone person, I have never modded/rooted or done anything to change a phone, and my knowledge only goes so far, so hopefully someone can shed some light for me.

Done some quick fact check for this.
Not so sure did Vodafone UK offered HTC One X/XL (edeavoru / evita). However, both of them supporting 3G network frequency operate by China Unicom. Make sure your SIM card has access to their mobile network and have APN set correctly if they are wrong/undectable.

Fixed

Setting the APN has worked, thank you, I thought I was going to have to buy a new phone
Check this
All I had to do to go to the Access Point Name ('APN') settings and change the Authentication Type from its default 'Not Set' to 'None'. After that, my internet is working fine.
It would appear this may be an issue common to a number of Chinese phones, so hopefully this will be of use to other people in the same situation.
It worked on my star N9599T (whats the difference Not Set and None? but it works!)
Hey there,
TL;DR : phone stuck on roaming network, unable to find other networks when scanning.
I've been reading alot around here for a while since a few months, and I'm now asking for help about an issue that I don't know how to fix it.
I'm using a S-ON One V in France (primoU).
I've changed my network operator last week. There are 4 real operators in France (Orange - 208-01, Free - 208-15, Bouygues 208-20 and SFR - 208-10). I've moved from a virtual operator (Prixtel - SFR network) to Free. Free has launched its network last year and has contracted a roaming agreement with Orange to use its network.
My issue is that my phone is stuck on Orange network and is unable to "view" the others and therefore unable to register on Free network. I'm pretty sure that it's a software issue because : i) I was able to scan and see all networks with this ROM, prior changing the sim card, ii) I have a Windows phone right under the hand with the same operator and it's able to scan and view the 4 networks and iii) checking the MCC and the MNC gives the code 208-01. I've performed a crossed check, too, and my HOV still shows the issue with the other sim card, while the Lumia is able to view 3 networks (all but Free) with mine.
It wouldn't be much a big deal since Orange has an excellent quality network if Free wasn't restricting data access on roaming (to cut the costly usage fee, seemingly).
When facing this problem, I was using Omega 2.5.0 with IronMan kernel for a whole month.
As Omega has became extremely laggy and unstable in less than 3 weeks, I thought I would kill two birds with one stone by changing to a new ROM. So I moved to C-Bean with Hellboy-CM10 kernel.
And still the same issue. As with CM10, CyanSense and Shpongle.
So I flashed back to stock ROM with stock kernel (and keeping TWRP recovery). Still the issue.
I then found this thread wich is somewhat related, since the "error while scanning for network" occured sometimes with Shpongle-based (and so AOSP-based) ROMs.
But I wonder why I still face this problem with the stock ROM and why the "error while scanning for network" still poped up when I tested CM-based ROMs (CM10 and CyanSense), while my phone was still S-ON (which shoud prevent radio flashing, as far as I know).
So I went through the Sensation thread about fixing the radio and RIL and I jumped to the conclusion that I may be looking in the wrong way, since I should have fixed the problem when flashing the stock ROM.
Now I've S-OFF the phone and gathered some infos.
Radio (gsm.vers.baseband) : 20.79a.30.0835U_3831.24.01.30_M
RIL (gsm.version.ril-impl) : HTC-RIL 2.2.0039HM (strangely enough, GetRIL shows "unknown")
CID : 61915329
I don't know what to do know now. I'm afraid to mess up the whole thing with somewhat random flashs.
What should I do to fix it?
Thanks for reading.
I've flashed the RUU and the phone keeps recognising the roaming network only.
How can I fix it if the problem is still there with a 100% stock software/firmware ?
OK so I put my former sim card in and performed a network search. I found all the networks available. I changed absolutely nothing else.
Could it possibly be an hardware malfunction between the phone and the sim cards from the provider (since I've been able to reproduce the issue with other sim cards from the same provider) ?
Okay, last bump before I give up.
A crossed check was performed by technicians operator in shop. They recorded the impossibility for my HOV to scan and view the Free network and sent me back to HTC.
I took some time to explain the problem to the HTC call-center guy. And he bounced me back because they don't care since the phone is working even if it's in roaming 100% of time.
As it has been suggested to me by an IT guy, it could be the baseband/radio firmware that may not be up-to-date, as the Free operator has entered the marketplace in early 2013.
Do you know if it's possible and if there a way to fix the radio? :/
EDIT : I managed to borrow a HTC Wildfire Buzz, and it shows exactly the same issue as my One V...
I hope somebody can help me or can share if he / she is experiencing the same issues.
After searching the web, posting to sony forums, calling support .. w/o any result, maybe someone here has an idea what is going on.
Issue :
At home I have 2 Sonys C2005. One on Official release 4.2.2 and one currently on Cyanogenmod 11 (flashed with the latest firmware available on 7th. September) The first SIM is from Hutchinsons (3 or Drei) in Austria and the Second SIM is from O2 Slovakia. When I switch on the 3G Data trafick on Hutchinsons the phone starts restarting randomly (every 3 to 5 minutes) When I change to GPRS (Edge) , or when I deactivate the Second SIM (O2) then the Phone is working fine. I did NOT had this issues with other Providers. I was before at Vectone Mobile (the second SIM was always O2)
As I wrote before I had tried this 2 SIMs in the second phone with Android 4.2.2 and there is the same issue, the phone starts rebooting. I have called Hutchinson support, they replaced the SIM, checked the SIM profile all is OK. Sony support blames Hutchinsons.. so no FIX on this side either. I hoped custom Android distro could help, but It did not -> CM11 with 4.3 Baseband
I think it is a bug in baseband. (If I understood it correctly CM11 is build on 4.3 Base)
Thx
exact same issue
Servus,
Just bought the phone in austria have a drei and a hungarian sim, same issue with 3g. The phone just works fine when in hungary with 3g enabled on the hungarian sim. Have u maybe any followups on the issue?
Setup:
sim: O2 - UK
e-sim: Orange - PL
I'm currently in Poland
Everything has been working fine until some 3 days ago. Since then:
O2 UK is showing as fully properly connected to a local network (roaming)
I can receive and send text messages via O2 UK (roaming)
Nobody can call me on my O2 UK number
I cannot make calls using the O2 UK number (I'm getting "the service you are trying to use is not available for this number" - in Polish and English, so presumably from the Polish roaming operator)
The O2 UK simcard has no issues in my old Oneplus mobile phone (it does take some 10min to work fully), so I know that roaming works. O2 have also confirmed that the roaming is unrestricted for me and they see no issues on their side.
I have tried manually selecting the network with little success (it keeps disconnecting and then switching back to automated selection).
Any ideas or similar experiences? :-/
Try forcing it to use hspa network, disable volte, etc.
