Has anyone else experienced this problem? On cm6 and Fresh, I've noticed that the youtube widget doesn't work unless I remove it and re-add the widget every time before I want to use it.
Same here. I thought I was the only one with this problem. Atr first I was getting a connection problem message on the widget. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it worked. Then it stated giving me the problem where I click on the search or upload button, but nothing happens. When i remove the widget, then reinstall the widget it'll work again for a bit.
I'm running the newest Fresh Rom.

Haha. Yeah, it's a good thing I don't use it that much, but when I do...it sucks to have to remove it and re-add the widget. =(
Edit: new question.
changed the question. I have a new problem. When I'm trying to add certain contacts to the people widget, some are not showing up. They are there though (in contacts and in gmail account.) Is it time for me to re do my gmail account contacts manually? I've had issues such as posted below more than once. It's getting frustrating when my contacts get all screwed up.
Original question: Google sync down?:
On my Google account sync, "Contacts" portion, I'm getting an exclamation and it says sync is down and will be back up shortly? Am I the only one with this? Just wondering because my girlfriends Hero doesn't have the issue. It was just an all of a sudden it poped up thing. Hopefully there's an easy fix or its down. Any body know anything?

I noticed this with dk28 where my snsservice would keep saying restarting after about an hour when my phone is booted and doesn't have a running time. I don't know if this is causing some issues because the phone then say that I can't edit my contacts.

I gather you are referring to Facebook SNS? This started after Facebook made changes to their application and introduced their own sync process. Those changes did something that conflicts with Google's integration with Facebook.
Google and Facebook are going at it over the sync process within Android.

There is another thread a few pages back in this sub forum that discusses possible work arounds. Nothing confirmed to resolve the constant prompts as of yet.
I'm having this issue too, I don't use Facebook and I can't find anything on any of the forums about this issue. No problems other than SNSSERVICE RESTARTING... continuously in running services. I push to stop it and it goes away, but I haven't noticed any other problems, even after I close it. I do notice that my battery lasts longer when I kill it. What EXACTLY does SNSService do? I've heard several different comments that it is for Facebook, its for Security (? if so, what security?), etc... and what would be causing it to go into restart. I do toggle off 3G from Power Control Plus (and GPS and Auto Sync) when I'm at work or other times when I have 1 or 2 signal bars (to save battery), but when I've had this happen, I try reconnecting all those, and it does not save the snsservice from going into a restart loop.

I have the EXACT same problem, on EB13 Syndicate ROM.
One thing I know for sure is snsservice fetches email syncs at the selected intervals for the stock email app, because I haven't been getting any emails since the problem started. My girlfriend has the Samsung Fascinate (sister phone) and she has the EXACT same problem. Anyone else know?
I found a fix for this...I'll bet if you have this problem you don't have a Facebook nor Twitter account and thus, have removed the "Feeds & Updates" widget from your screens. If you DON'T force close the SNSService, but just put the Feeds & Updates Widget back on an unused screen somewhere it will immediately stop the snsservice from restarting. I've then deleted the widget from my screen and was good for about 2 weeks, then it started doing it again (after the facebook app got an update) so I just left the widget up now.

That's more of a workaround, rather than a fix.
so does this drain the battery? I had it happen last night on bonsai

I don't know, for sure it doesn't help it. It would be nice if somebody shed some light on this bug.
My fix is to just delete the two SNS apk's, and use the respective apps built in sync feature.

what are the 2 apks? are they safe to delete even if I'm using fb (Facebook)? I've notice that when snsservice is restarting and if I kill it, it will stop notifications on fb.

Excuse me...you are right, it's a workaround, like the airplane toggle and the upside down compass calibrate, but hey I hope folks can use it until it does get fixed, which, I think people with the issue would appreciate knowing.

To remove the stock, built in SNS features, you can remove the following files:
Snsaccount.apk
Snsproviders.apk
About affecting the fb app, I'm not sure. I just started using the fb app so I can't say with certainty. I am going to test and see if deleting either or both apk files stop notifications in the fb app. Based on what you said, sounds like it might.

I'm pretty sure you NEED those apks if you ARE using Facebook. You just need to put the Feeds and Updates Widget back on one of your unused screens.
No, if you're using the Facebook app that you download from the market, you don't need either of those apks.
Just tested notification functionality like I mentioned in my last post, and I am getting them all. Those apks are deleted on my phone.
You'd need to keep those apks if you want the Twitter and Facebook functionality that comes built in on a stock phone.

Does deleting those two apks not affect Latitude updates? I know their separate services but it seems as if Latitude doesn't automatically update correctly when I remove either snsservice or drmprovider.

I don't know if anybody else is having this issue, but I am using the "Buddies Now" widget that came stock with this phone, I don't know what is causing this but randomly all of the widgets in question I have added to a page lose the person that it was assigned to and revert to being a blank widget with no contact. I am assuming something is resetting them. It was happening before I installed Advanced Task Killer and is continuing after so I don't think that something is getting closed because of ATK which is causing the issue....Any suggestions/help/advice? Thanks
Yep. I ran into that yesterday for the first time.

Curious...I wonder if an auto-sync of GMail contacts will reset the widget. If your contacts are constantly syncing, it could disrupt / reset the feed to the Buddies widget, essentially making you reassign each time your contacts update automatically.
Test that and see, just remove contact sync as auto and see what happens. Worth a stab
I hadn't noticed this.... then I read this thread and within 30 minutes it happened... just my luck
Probably just going to use a different launcher.

I'm going to try that now...lets see if that helps...I also have launcher pro already set up the way I like it but haven't set it as default yet...hopefully the issue can be resolved so I won't have to change but no big deal if I have to
Even after Unchecking sync for contacts and assigning each widget a contact around 815PM tonight most of the widgets have lost their assigned contact and now are blank.
Yep happened to me too.
I am just using direct dial shortcuts for now, that widget is way too unreliable.
I noticed mine were messed up after issues with contacting facebook.

Again, my were messed up after spending the entire weekend on roam and experiencing numerous LOS issues.
Contacts widget .. stumped
i am also having a similar problem. my contacts will not show up in the widget as they are in the list. doesn't matter what launcher i am running. this has got to be reasonably simple fix. Please and thx
What happened to the old buddies now widget from the OG epic. This one doesn't have no carousel effect and the pictures are blurry.
Buddies now widget Problem
Im getting this problem at random intervals it just resets and wipes all the tiles,
I have factory reset the phone and unchecked the auto-sync but it still resets,
it's Really Really starting to annoying me,
Anyone come across a solution on this?
If so please please share
Hello,
Is anyone else not seeing their widgets refresh? I'm talking specifically about my Email and Google Voice widgets. If I get a new message, it doesn't seem to appear, and old messages don't seem to clear out. I've tried opening the app but that doesn't seem to do it either.
This was an issue on my Nexus S 4G when running an ICS ROM, so I'm assuming it's just a quirk of ICS... since these are Google-made apps, I'm guessing it's the OS and not the apps themselves.
So am I the only one having this issue?
I experience this too on my email widget. It works approximately for a day, and the next morning, when emails start coming in, it doesn't refresh. I have to replace it to work again.
Yup, my email widget doesn't refresh consistently so I decided not to use it anymore. Kinda annoying.
that's odd, mine refreshes a few seconds after the initial notification. Cdma or GSM?
Also, how often is your email syncing? If you have it set to a long time its not going to tell you the second one shows up

GSM for me. My Gmail widget refreshes consistently but the Email widget does not.
CDMA for me. My Email and Gmail accounts are set for push, and Google Voice's refresh rate obviously can't be changed.

If u hav installed beautiful widgets then..
Well after lots of trial and error.. the only solution i found is..
1. uninstall beautiful widgets animation
2. clear data beautiful widgets from settings - apps - beautiful widgets
3. uninstall beautiful widgets..
Living without beautiful widgets is better than facing that refresh problem..
I will try the beautiful widgets uninstall...never would have thought that would have been it! Thanks.
I wasn't really referring to Beautiful Widgets, mostly to Gmail and Google Voice. Also, this seems to be happening to my Toshiba Thrive, indicating that it is an issue in Honeycomb as well.
