I upgraded HBOOT to 1.36 (CID HTC__044) and completed all the prerequisites for JB (ARHD 17.1) but I forgot to copy the rom to SDCard for flashing via CWM!!!
Is there anyway that I can copy/push a rom file to the SD card through HBOOT?
Your help is much appreciated.

Since I have a fairly simple question and a 10 post limit, I'll just link to the post I'm referring to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786436, and ask exactly how it's done. This post effectively details how to turn S-On and flash back to a factory image. I'm referring to Part 2 to go back to Stock 2.2.
I understand that I need to put the s-on .zip file on my SD card and "flash" it through clockworkmod recovery. That's cool, but what exactly does that mean? Do I click "Install ROM from SD Card (even though this isn't a ROM?)," or reboot into Recovery and use the "install .zip from sdcard" option?
After "flashing" the .zip file to turn s-on, then I would have to put the RUU on my SD card and just boot into HBoot.
I understand that I'm being a little impatient; 10 posts isn't much at all. But I'm on a bit of a time constraint, and my question is pretty general.

That mean you boot into HBoot and then Recovery once in recovery choose Install zip from sd card and choose your S-on zip after that you do the RUU part... have more question just ask....

Yes, but you have to name it PB31IMG.zip in order for HBOOT to recognize it.
Thanks for the help, guys!
hi and thanks in advance for any help!
Had Cool3D AceS v2a and decided to upgrade it to v3 as i really liked this ROM
Had clockwork v5.0.0.2 recovery
Deleted all cache files
Partitioned SDcard with Gparted 1gb ext4 & 3gb fat 32
Copied new ROM to sdcard
clockwork would not see the ROM zip file to install
repartitioned & reformatted sdcard in clockwork
could not copy the rom to the SDcard
thought it may be clockwork prob so installed amon ra recovery
partitioned the sdcard (1024 ext2, then changed to ext3, then 4) & reformatted
did a full wipe
windows still could not copy the ROM to SDcard
reformated to just ext2
still cannot copy rom zip (windows wants to repair)
connected phone to ubuntu install
cannot copy ROM zip
thought it was a Hboot prob? but i cant flash hboot with cm7r2 or bravo_downgrade from alpharev (currently have cm7 hboot)
The phone now wont boot past the flash screen, i can still get into amon ra & pwr/vol - screen

If you have another SD Card try with that, I also faced similar issue.

hi and thanks will buy another sdcard and try that - the card was formatted with the fat 32 partition first then the ext2/3/4 with amon ra (previously with gparted & clockwork)
I am still unsure why i can not flash hboot however and how that is linked to the SDcard? Tried flashing with the sdcard out too with the same error
The SDcard i am using is the stock 4gb one
thanks again
Excuse me if I overread it, but in your opening post I cannot find a step for going S-OFF. And so you cannot use fastboot, which means you cannot flash hboots.
I had S-off and indeed boot screen confirms S-off (BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF), do i need to reflash s-off again (I had it when I first installed aces v2a)
presumably theres a way to get s-off again via amon ra? as most guides I see require going into the installed ROM which i cannot. will try and look for a tut
thankyou
Your S-OFF status cannot be changed by flashing a rom or using any recovery.
Is your phone in fastboot mode when you flash hboot? Where is hboot image you want to flash stored?
ok have installed the ROM (Cool AceS v3)
I deleted all the partitions in ubuntu / gparted to 'unallocated space' (I actually used the live usb install avail here http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ to achive this rather than the burn cd image as per step 5 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084&highlight=noob+guide ) This also alows use of latest gparted which comes with ubunto 11.04.
I then used the amon ra to partiton the sdcard with 1gb ext2 then change to ext3 then ext4 & no swap
I then copied the rom onto sdcard via the ubuntu live install.
removed the zip security check in amon ra
rebooted to recovery and installed the ROM - SUCCESS!!!
all is now working (and im loath to change anything) - however I do have a couple of questions.
looking at gparted now at the phone its all 'unallocated space' the ROM works fine however (shows 2.9gb on my 4gb stock SDcard) - is this normal for this ROM?
also is the partition information for the SDcard contained within the phones system (96mb unallocated space on phone when sdcard is removed)?
Should I re- S-off the ROM now I can?
thanks again for all the pointers and i hope this may help any others with SDCARD copy/format issues.

yes i followed the guide for fastbootcommander here very carefully http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193915
I store the flash images on the desktop and load them as required into fastbootcommander by browsing for them and downloaded them from alpha-rev

Why should you re-S-OFF your phone? All is working fine right now, isn't it?

Wether you are S-OFF or S-ON has nothing to do with rom, it has to do with the bootloader. If this one is S-OFF, the rom also is it.

yes finally seems a fight between gparted/windows and ext4 partitions (seems windows7 doesnt like ext4 installed on sdcard as then it wants to fix the fat32 partition in order to copy files to it, if it fix's the fat 32 partition gparted then doesnt like it and ubuntu wont copy files)
I am on CM7 and was going to try CM7r2 (this ROM works on either apparently however)
for now thankfully it works though I have not tried flashing hboot
is there a relationship with hboot and the partition structure on the SDcard?
I cannot image in which way the desire's internal storage (hboot) should have something to with the partition of your sd card.
I only recently realised that CWM stores backups in .ext3.tar format instead of a .img format. When I search for a way to use adb for recovery, i've only found ways to use a system.img file but not an ext3.tar file. Is there any way to perform a recovery if I have a system.ext3.tar file using adb? or anything else?

Actually, on the Droid Incredible, system.img should be the format for the system partition. .ext3.tar sounds ok for /data and /cache but not /system.
After verifying the image is for the right device you could format system and untar it to /system after mounting it. Again, I don't think this will work on the incredible as CWM creates .img files for system.
Why can't you use recovery directly anyway?
I can't get into recovery so I'm trying to use it through fastboot. Didn't quite understand can I use the .ext3.tar as an .img?

No. You'd need cwm or adb. Did you already try reflashing recovery in fastboot so you could get to it?
If that doesn't work you may need to ruu.

I don't but it should be retrievable.

Place it in the main sdcard folder and then reboot into HBOOT which is hold vol down while turning on the phone. and if it doesn't get picked up, check if the sdcard is formatted as FAT32.
I forgot to mention if you do an RUU update or flash stock via the PB31IMG, it will wipe your internal storage(emmc). You will lose root but not s-off.
Here's a good link for you:

Even though it is already fat32, it is sometimes necessary to reformat it again to get hboot to find the file. Just back it up to a pc, reformat it fat32, and then place only the PB31IMG.zip file on the sdcard and try again.

Just a guess but I would try flashing that https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934550733 rename to '0PJAIMG.ZIP' and place on sd card and try and flash from download mode.
Try and update once installed, it may well wipe your device!

those are the steps
rename the RUU.zip to 0PJAIMG.ZIP, place it on a ext sd card formatted in FAT32 (a 16 or 32gig one should work), reboot into DOWNLOAD_MODE, agree and it should flash.
Can't be exact right now, in bed about to go to sleep lol, I presume you know how to get into download mode, not recovery. If the file is located in the sdcard at root it should commence flashing if named as I said before. Good luck.

Are you putting the file on the Ex SDcard ? and is it the correct name ? and is it a fat 32 card ?
sd not mounted = wrong file name or not fat 32
here just use the RUU EXE much easier

be aware all these will wipe your internal storage
Is it formatted and named correctly as stated.

Yes flash TWRP and SuperSU again
but no if you save your system.img before you root you can restore it and not loose everything on the next OTA

8. flash WWE RUU to convert
rename RUU provided by @Mux89 to 2PS6IMG.zip

reboot to download mode
