My gf own an Arc S, and after nearly one year of using slightly.
I notice that the camera is getting worse, the color is dull and not sharp, even the detail.
I compare to another Arc buy at the same time, the color is brighter and better.
Arc is running 2.3. Arc S 4.0.4

You sure, the camera glass is not covered with crap?
Mine has also gotten much worse, and it's probably the hardware.
It's glass, it collects dust and gets scratched.

Hi All !
I'm just about to get new phone and decided it to be SE. I love Arc but also like Neo cuz is smaler and fit better in pocket but i have few concerns.
Image quality - is it same as Arc's ?
Speed - is it as fast as Arc ?
and because smaler screen will battery life be better ?
Regards
Marek

Pics quality AFAIK is a bit worse than Arc.
Personally I would take Arc.
Both handsets use exactly the same camera module, so the quality of the photos they take should be broadly similar.
Obviously every individual handset will vary slightly, not every Arc will perform exactly the same but there's no reason why the Neo should be any worse than the Arc.
Same goes for speed, both handsets use the same CPU/SoC and have the same amount of RAM.
As for battery life, I doubt there'll be much difference.
Yes the Neo has a smaller screen and that's an advantage but it's not a colossal size difference.
What's the difference between Neo and Ray?
The Ray has a smaller screen and an aluminium body.
All three (Arc, Neo and Ray) use basically the same hardware.
I would choose Ray over Neo because Ray looks stunning.
ray will be available in August and i like neo.
Q: why Neo screen is not as good as Arc's ? apart from size what specs are different ?

Who says it's not as good?
It's the same tech, just a smaller panel - which means it has a better pixel density.
I was reading few reviews and apparently Neo screen is not as bright as Arc screen.
I don't know what reviews you've been reading but GSMArena's measurements of the two screens have the Neo's display as brighter than the Arc's.
for me, Arc is the best one. I'm still don't know with Neo...
Get the arc... It's beautiful and has a premium look . I am very happy with it. Great headphone quality too . You will love it for sure

Arc for it's looks and only that...other same sized AND priced phones out there that have twice the ram and double the cores.
Neo for size, front facing camera, and hdmi out (that looks terrible on big screen)
Ray for front facing camera and portability with power. Ray gets my vote!
i got Neo and i very happy with it ! lovely phone !
Hello everybody,
actually Im a big fan of HTC-Devices and Sense. Everything startet with a HTC Blackstone and Windows-Mobile. Currently Im using a HTC Legend and Desire (private & work).
Meanwhile Im bored of the Design of HTC. To thick to "normal".
So now the Xperia Arc comes in. Wundervoll design, thin and compare to the measures small. Disadvantage for me is the USB-Port on the side for the dockingstation (New trend?) and the missing front camera.
But mybe there are other advantages than the design that I missed.
Actually what I want to ask is, why did you buy the ARC?

I have also used many models of HTCphone, I have changed to SE Arc for 3 months.
With Arc I'm happy because it has a lot of things better than HTC phones such as Arc has good radio, clear sound, its screen looks like Bravia TV. With Arc's camera I can have a lot of very beautiful pictures on days or night especially with added software Arc can take nice panorama picture and more...
I'm a SE-fanboy, liking the Arc and my X10 started to reboot often so I got it.

I like Sony Mobile Bravia Engine, the Reality Display and the arc shape.
reasons why i bought the Arc:
- I'm a big SE fan, had a X10 but was missing 'some things'(vague, i know)
- Big 4.2" screen (with the bravia engine it looks great)
- Really good camera quality in day & night(and it takes a picture fast)
- The design: just look at the thing man! (let's be honnest all phone in the xperia range look very good)
Most SE designs look like they are made to my taste. Or you can also say others make phones that look ugly to my taste .
But I wish SE can improve the build quality of their phones to feel more solid and use more metal. I find HTC phones to have much better build quality than SE phones but somehow their phone designs don't interest me.
Samsung is a joke. They just copy everyone. To me, their best looking phone is Captivate and it looks somewhat like X10.
I have a desire. It's nice but not as nice as the arc. The pictures, audio quality and radio on the desire is appalling.
After playing with an arc in a store the camera is excellent, the audio quality is superb the radio works and the screen is beautifull.....but why SE why have such crap build quality?
I am looking forward to the RAY and that may be my next phone.
Xperia ray is beautiful but smaller. For me... Arc is suitable. Smaller than Dell streak and bigger than ray.

1. design 2. camera 3. interface design. After using an atrix i decided a dualcore wasn't worth it for what i needed to do and would rather trade it for the "curvaceous" arc. Brother has a SGS2 and it is awesome, but the stock samsung ROM really leaves a lot to be desired design wise. Have a look at their stock dialer. blegh.
edit: oh yea, cant forget about the screen. Perfect size and looks great.

I actually enjoyed the fact that Ray is small, but still packs almost the same features of Arc, sometimes i fell the x10 is already too big and Arc is even bigger. But i'll wait a little longer until buying a new device, my old x10 still serves me well and there's a lot of cool stuff being released, i'm not even sure if my next phone will be a SE but i do like their designs a lot.
a friend took me to sony store
hold the arc, dummy set even (high quality ofcos) and fall in love, feels great in my hand, desire hd looks outdated
ditch my HTC desire HD for arc design, camera, better speaker, love the home button for turning on the screen rather then power button way up the top, and it feels great in my pocket, but usually protected in my waist pouch 95% of the time
if you wan speed and nothing else, sgs2 with dual core and 1gb of ram will be your choice
My main reason for buying it was for 100% live view compatibility...
how disappointed was I!!
For me, it's the design. Big screen with BE and of course, the caméra.
I always liked the design of SE phones and will like for their future designes.

The brand was actually a huge negative for me - i loathe and distrust sony. I only bought after i managed to convince myself that SE are an entirely separate company.
I am interested in Arc S.
So far i've had HTC devices made out of hard metal and they really felt quality.
However, HTC's screens are pure rubbish.
So, will I get a screen just as bright as the Galaxy one (which I like) in the Arc S ?
And is it built tough, with no squeaking cheap plastics or cheap design ?It sure looks nice.
A build quality comparison between the Arc and the Galaxy would be good if you've had both.
Thanks !
both are plastic so no comparison there. Its build quality is good I think ,I dropped my phone once with just a really small scratch. Brightness is very good too bright imo. I half it set at about 30% and its perfect.
the build in general is better the samsung, is more solid and dont make noises when you apply pressure, but the ARC is very lightweight in a drop test the arc you can get the same scratches you can get in the samsung (carcass, but in screen the weight of the arc reduce the % of suffer a scratch in the screen)
Build quality of htc is better, however SE has put one of the best LCD's in the arc, and it shows. As long as your not throwing your phone around, the better screen quality should more than make up the inferior build quality.

So, I'm considering buying the S but here's what I'd like to know:
What's up with the yellow tint issues and what Xperia S devices were affected and how would I tell if the one I would buy is or isn't (is there like a production week I can reference to)?
Does the have the visible digitiser on bright colours like the Xperia U?
Thanks for your help!
No. The Xperia S does not have the visible digitizer on bright colours like the Xperia U.

And every deivce since Week 16 does not have Yellow Tint problems.
And even if it happens that you buy one with the Yellow Tint problem, Sony is obliged to repair it.
Additionally, if you live in the EU, if any problem appears within the first 7 days the seller must replace your phone immediately!
Why you shouldn't get Xperia S:
1. It's old meaning that the hardware used is older compared to krait. This gives you less performance over Xperia V, T, Z and produces more heat = less battery life
2. The capacitive buttons are nothing but useless junk with an elongated useless "XPERIA" labelled part. YOu will get so annoyed by these buttons that you'll wish that you should have gotten Xperia V (which is lighter than Xperia S and performs better)
Why you should or can get:
1. Pretty high pixel density = eye candy
2. 32GB internal which is pretty much enough for most of the people
3. It is getting Jelly Bean quite soon so you can expect some increase in performance but nothing too big.
I would personally suggest you to save money and get either the "krait" series phones or get a Quad core Nexus 4...
Thanks for the responses, guys.

Totally, absolutly, completly ****ing agree.
Honestly, I'm fine with my XS since June, but nowadays... it's old and aparted. Still no Jellybean official, omfg. Don't expect many updates more.
Get a phone with S4 processor as minimum standard for processor...
It's 2013, all mid range phones comes with S4 processor.. You got a lot of options.. You are lucky.. Wish I had such options when I bought the XS..
Despite all the limelight is on the Z, I can said that I have no regrets on switching from the Z to the ZL. Although the Z has it's back glassed to have a premium look, it feels to large on the hand, yes it's slim but too boxy. Makes holding with one hand uncomfortable. One the other end, the ZL FEELS REAL COMFORTABLE. Although slightly thicker, the feel is really good, especially operating with one hand. The screen colors were on par with Z too. Camera wise, surprising that it performs slightly better then Z,. To me, Z feels like a Mercedes and ZL like an BMW. Solid, compact, powerful.

How much time you can actually keep your phone in water just like a kid,, looks crazy.....
On the other hand zl has better sound quality, more brighter screen and smaller size, plus IR REMOTE, though it is not of much importance for all, but still for some.

thumbs up!! but hopefully it will not end up like Xperia ion, a pace slower then Xperia S in software update. Some ppl say ZL is a sacrifice, its real difficult to find a simple case here in singapore. Even sony has no stock/ :crying:
