Mobile Odin Pro - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I just bought this, can you flash anything with it? like kernel, modem, rom? or just certain things?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app

roms, kernels, full stock tars minus a couple things. Modems wont flash with it, CDMA phone thing but other than that you can use it to say flash a kernel without using odin and without triggering the yellow triangle.
I dont use it much anymore as I don't run stock builds and leaks anymore but it was a life saver back when and is still useful to me now.

I love Mobile Odin. I use it to flash EL26 CWM when I need to try out new ROMs.

[Q] How do I use Mobile Odin?

I recently bought the app and I used used it once to flash the EL26 kernel, just to try it out, but I can't seem to find out how to use it other than that.
Any links or assistance would be much appreciated!
TIA!
Anyone can reply you know...its rude to ignore people asking for help.

I just use it to flash el26+cwm kernel. It can also flash modems and some stock roms.

I haven't used mobile odin a whole lot, but from my understanding, you download the tar file you need, whether its a kernel, modem, or rom, and it scans your external and internal cards for the tar. Click on what you want to odin, again kernel, modem, or rom, and it odins the file. It's just a convenient way to odin without using a computer.

Also, Mobile Odin doesn't raise flash counts or invoke the yellow triangle.

I am pretty sure people say don't use mobile Odin for modems...it either don't work or don't stick.

You can use it to flash modems, but they don't stick sometimes. I've heard there is a way to flash them using it.

I'm glad you told me because I thought I was doing something wrong.
For some ROMS the devs ask you to wipe your phone to install ROMs fresh. I use Calkulins Format All when in recovery.
How does Mobile Odin work if you need to wipe your phone?

ROMS aren't flashed through Odin typically . Odin is used to flash stock.

Unlocked recovery's

Which are safe to flash with? I hate having to flash back to el26 kernel.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
dont you think that if there were other safe ones, then el26 wouldn't mentioned in every single thread?
with that said, try twrp.
There are several different unlocked recoveries (unlocked stock, agats) that you can flash zips from but for roms el26 for now. It literally takes 2 extra minutes to flash it.
I heard that twrp for cm9 is safe, I have not tried it yet.

I used to always odin back to EL26 to wipe/flash, but ive been using agats FF09 & FF11 recovery and have wiped/flashed many times and havent had a single issue.
Either way agat or new TWRP was it really that difficult to flash el26cwm. I mean use mobile Odin and its all of 20 seconds..... Hey you got to be happy though

I never said it was harder but I would like to just be able to flash just like we used to.

Using mobile Odin?

OK I have been flashing since the day of the samsung moment, and back in those days it was strictly adb, PC based Odin, and custom recoveries. The options were limited and it made you a pro at flashing because the routine was always the same. Fast forward to now with the e4gt not only have our options grown but included the emmc bug threat flashing for this bad boy can at time be convoluted. What I'm wondering is with mobile Odin I'm not confident on whether or not it is safe to say flash directly from the fk23 leak to the fl04 leak without first flashing a different kernel or some other prepatory step. Is mobile Odin exactly like the PC version where its cool to flash away?

I do not think so. I read something about Mobile Odin not flashing modem's. Where as, Desktop Odin does it all. But none the less. Mobile Odin is still a great option. I use it daily to flash to a safe recovery/kernel, when I want to boot into recovery.
Mobile Odin does not trigger the counter or the yellow triangle.

Flash el29 or el26 kernel thru Mobil odin and then restore your backup or flash the rom u prefer. Make sure you flash the modem too at the time of flashing.

I have used it but only to flash recoveries. It works very well. Try the Lite version.

What exactly are you flashing in Odin (Mobile or otherwise)? Most Roms only provide zip files that are flashable in custom recoveries. Odin is mainly used for switching recoveries. If you want to switch recoveries that often, Naddict always takes the latest and makes a flashable zip directly from the recovery itself. If you want older, he might make one for you.
I've flashed everything with it. Modems can be fickle but I find putting it on root of SD card works well.
Mobile Odin is great if you wish to keep stock recovery and flash stock tars while remaining rooted. Not everyone wishes to have a custom recovery or ROM but would like to use root apps. Believe Mobile Odin author is one such person.
I've used it since it came out. Never any issues.
That's kinda what I want to do is try some different modems and update my prls. I'm running the latest synergy r484 and the 3g/4g can't make up its mind and my service bars aren't consistent since the update. I've used the previous rooms by synergy and never had this issue. I don't know what they changed being somewhat of a noob to rooted customs. Thanks for the insight I'll keep researching.

New to samsung devices

Ok here is what I have and what i am looking to accomplish. I have a sph-d710 sprint, flashed to boost mobile. Gb27 I have stock firmware rooted, and still have stock recovery. I want to flash a 4.3 build. What kernel that includes a recovery should I use? I prefer twrp but will use cwm if I need to I also have mobile Odin pro for flashing the recovery/ kernel. This is my wife's phone so I am asking for info so I don't screw anything up. Before this I've been strictly using Htc devices and they are so different in steps to flashing brick free. Thanks

You need to flash a safe kernel via Odin one-click or mobile Odin like El26 or EL29 direct boot, and also the recovery and the kernel are together so keep that in mind
