dude there is no compatible driver for windows 8... i tried everything... copied driver files from windows 7 and manually installed them in w8... but nothing works... even after it shows HTC drivers on driver manager mobile not connecting to pc... this is the only reason i hate windows 8...
sorry brother...

Sorry windows 8 doesn't support it. If you need adb thingy to work see my signature.

I installed HTC Sync and it installed new drivers 4.0.0.009 and it works great on Windows 8.

I can. I already downloaded them the moment I got to know that they released new ones by you!
I'm just asking for people who come searching for a solution. It'd be easy for them wouldn't it?

[Q] Copying fastboot folder from old PC to new

I flash my boot.img files using command prompt, and my fastboot folder is stored on my C drive. I got a new computer and am trashing the old one soon. Can I just copy the entire fastboot folder onto the new computer, C drive, and continue as before? I'd initially got the fastboot folder while rooting, but don't remember where I got it from. Both my old and new computers run on Windows 7, if that helps.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Thanks a lot for getting back to me. But *noob alert* what did you mean by installing the drivers again? Do you mean the ones from htcdev? Can you point me somewhere the steps might be? Or if you've seen this query before, just let me know. I searched this forum once, but will check again if you've seen someone else ask this question before. Thanks again!

Copy fastboot folder to a usb and copy to new computer.
Fastest way to install drivers is to install the HTC sync for the one x

Need help unlocking HTC one X Plus..

Some of you may have read my thread a few days ago about me having problems pushing the unlock code into my htc one x well I took that back and exchanged it for the plus
model and I am still in the same boat it says cannot load the unlock code bin file, could it be that my windows 8 just won't allow it to run properly ? Has anyone else unlocked a android device successfully with win 8?

Ok I just tried doing this on a windows vista is and it still comes up cannot load file...

I had problems with Win 8 too. Vista I have never tried.
What you could try is deleting all your htc and phone drives from your computer. Not just run the unninstaller but also remove them from device manager. Then reboot. Then plug your phone back in and let windows install the drivers again.
Ok... Has anyone on a telus htc one x plus unlocked theirs yet?

Can someone help me I am getting extermly frusterated I have tried two diff OSs maybe ADB is not installing right I don't know..

windows 8 works fine, don't know your problem.
Just try:
- Install HTC Sync,
- then install Android SDK with fastboot and ADB,
- then flash Unlock_code.bin
Unlock_code.bin should be 256 bytes in size.

Thanks for the reply lilsafbig. I do have a PC, but it uses Ubuntu rather than Windows - do you know of any guides that could help? I've tried googling but no luck yet (might be looking up the wrong thing though!)

Does anyone know any other methods to sim unlock a rooted HTC desire using Ubuntu or another linux variant?
