Sim unlock a rooted HTC Desire (Bravo) with ubuntu - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just followed a tutorial to root and install CM7 on an old HTC Desire using Ubuntu only: blog.adorjanitamas.me/2013/03/howto-root-htc-desire.html
I now want to sim unlock the device - how could I do with ubuntu as I don't have access to a windows PC.

Thanks for the reply lilsafbig. I do have a PC, but it uses Ubuntu rather than Windows - do you know of any guides that could help? I've tried googling but no luck yet (might be looking up the wrong thing though!)

unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install
Those are the drivers you need
Not letting me post hyperlinks so just copy paste into browser.
you need to turn usb debugging on and ensure u run the program as administrator
1. Before you do anything, uninstall htc-sync from your pc but do not uninstall the driver.
2. Install the H-boot driver from unrevoked site. (run the installation as administrator)
3. Enable usb debugging mode on your Desire.
4. Connect the Desire to your PC.
5. Run unrevoked and wait untill finish.
6. After rooting is done, you can have your HTC-Sync back if you want it.

If there is no icon you need to flash the Gapps.
There's no apps affiliated will google whatsoever. I flahed the cyanogen mod 7 successfully.
Could you please explain what gapps are and where I can find them and how to install thanks in advance

Oh,these are operating systems! So I download one and then use revolutionary? Which one do you suggest? And these are compatible with Mac?
Hey there. VirtualBox is a free open source software that enables you to run a virtual machine (Ubuntu) directly on your mac.
Install VirtualBox. Using VirtualBox, install Ubuntu. From Ubuntu, run revolutionary.

you could try downloading and flashing an already rooted stock rom.

I suggest reading up on virtual machines as well as Ubuntu before even bothering to download them. I'd hate for you to be so eager to root your phone that you end up accidentally screwing up your Mac too. Then you'd have a stock phone and a useless Mac. That's not good at all. Good luck man.

[Q] Copying fastboot folder from old PC to new

I flash my boot.img files using command prompt, and my fastboot folder is stored on my C drive. I got a new computer and am trashing the old one soon. Can I just copy the entire fastboot folder onto the new computer, C drive, and continue as before? I'd initially got the fastboot folder while rooting, but don't remember where I got it from. Both my old and new computers run on Windows 7, if that helps.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Thanks a lot for getting back to me. But *noob alert* what did you mean by installing the drivers again? Do you mean the ones from htcdev? Can you point me somewhere the steps might be? Or if you've seen this query before, just let me know. I searched this forum once, but will check again if you've seen someone else ask this question before. Thanks again!

Copy fastboot folder to a usb and copy to new computer.
Fastest way to install drivers is to install the HTC sync for the one x

How to install custom ROMs on HTC DZ

I've got my HTC Desire Z, in original condition but I need help to root, install recovery and installing custom ROMs. I don't want to have to use a PC or laptop, since they are broken but I still have a tablet. Are there any guides or can people tell me step by step on how to get custom ROMs on the phone? BTW I'm starting from scratch so a lot has to be done... Thanks friendly forum people

I think that other than Visionary (which I recommend against using it due all it's problems), that there isn't many other options. :/ Check this out and see if there is anything that can help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348266
I'm sorry, i think you need a pc to root our phone, because you must copy sdk files from cmd and lauch them, and set other things
There are ways to install the fastboot and adb binaries on a tablet and then use an otg cable connected from tablet to desire z, this can work if your tab supports otg, then just follow the xda wiki
