Does anyone know what is happening with Unofficial CM10 Nightlies. I have been using it as my daily ROM but there havent been any updates for a while now?
Ive had 2 issues that I reading the thread hasn't come up.
1) Sometimes when I unlock my phone I have to put my SIM lock code in. It has done this quite a few times but it normally happens when I am in an area of very poor HSDPA reception and it keeps switching between that and Edge.
2) Sometimes Wifi stops working and I can't turn off Wifi to then turn it on again. The slider will go across but then when I exit and go back into wifi it still shows as on and searching. I have to reboot to fix it.
Anyone else had this?
James
I think synergye is working hard on 4.2. cfX 4.1.2 has not been updated recently either.
Thats what I thought and was hoping
I can live with a few bugs whilst we wait for 4.2.....
What is the difference with cfX and CM10?

Well, unlike with 4.1.2 (where CM10 and cfX are split), cfX 4.2 combines base AOSP (not CM10.1) and cfX (with a bunch of extra customization settings) into a single ROM. You can set a toggle in CfX Settings that will turn off cfX settings altogether, making it essentially pure AOSP.
Sounds interesting. Ill have to try cfX when 4.2 comes out then.
Does anyone know if CM10 links your contacts to Facebook? In my contacts list none of my facebook photos are showing for my contacts.

i love it. synergye is doing a great job!

Is it stable enough to use as a daily ROM yet?

Bluemont doesn't work; most other bugs are very minor. It depends on your use requirements.

Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone has had chance to install CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM and if it's good? I'd imagine it to be quite buggy at the moment due to the fact that it's only just been released. Quite keen to update to latest android 4.2.1 but don't want to update to a buggy ROM.

I just flashed this rom to test it out. Lots of graphical bugs(especially when using the camera) and all of the S-pen features DO NOT WORK. And i also have noticed that my power off button whenever i click it , it does not turn off the screen to go in lockscreen. Other then that..man i was so happy to see AOSP i love it so damn much but..this is just not for me i wish these bugs were fixed and then AOSP is on!!! Thanks for the link though.
No worries for the link . I was surprised no one had been talking about it on here before when in posted it. Cyanogen seems that be the most popular ROM because it's Google stock and optimised. currently using ParanoidAndroid which is great. I highly recommend. Hopefully they'll release a 4.2.1 version of that soon!!

No graphical bugs in PA at all (as far as I am aware). I'm really pleased with it. I'd recommend it to anyone. Tablet apps on this phone also work beautifully well. Like YouTube for instance.
Battery life is SLIGHTLY (we're talking marginal) decreased from Samsung ROM. However, to give you an example of how good the battery life still is - I go to work and use my phone throughout the day for Spotify. It's always connected to wifi at work as I have hardly any signal. I am also always connected to GPS so i can get the most out of things like google now etc. I unplug at 8:30 and get home for about 6:30 every night. My battery when I get home is usually 60%. So I can't complain. When I had my iPhone I used to have to stay constantly tethered!!
I recently upgraded from 4.1.2 (12/2/12 release) to 4.2.1 (1/26/13 release). My phone is buggy as hell and I am getting a lot of error messages because I did not do a full wipe. I am going to do a full wipe but cannot see any reason to stick with 4.2.1... Fast charging is gone, I dont really like the way the toggles are laid out, less lockscreen target icons, etc... there is nothing on this update that really makes me want to keep it.
Can anyone give their opinion on 4.2.1 vs 4.1.2? I enjoyed the 4.1.2 build and found it to be very stable (thats why I kept it so long) but if 4.2.1 is faster, more stable, better battery life etc I would prolly consider trying it after the wipe.
So what are your experiences between these two? why should I go with one over the other? Does anyone have tasks latest build of 4.1.2 (+gapps) or have a suggestion for another rom (I wouldn't be apposed to trying something new!)
Important:
battery life
stability
performance
Functionality
lockscreen targets (lol)
Fast charge option was definitely nice to have as well!
Not important:
Unicorn bootscreen animation
Thanks in advance for everyone's input! :highfive:
stability and functionality are key things.
for instance, bluetooth streaming is finnicky unless you mess with it on CM10.1, seemingly fine on CM10.
bleeding edge generally means that you're leveraging stability and functionality for new features.
i'm still on 4.1.2 (ParanoidKangDroid) and enjoying the experience here. if you're not experiencing any issues, i would say stick it out until you're ready to move forward and the bugs have been identified and ironed out by early adopters.
Anybody else? I would really appreciate some input
My phone is buggy as hell and I need to flash something whether it be 2.1 or 1.2.
Does anyone have the last 4.1.2 build by task? Will I get flamed for asking on the development thread?
Sorry for all of the questions I just need some answers/direction

Don't bother asking in his development thread. If you need it, check on goo.
Here, I found it for you.

If you want my 4.1.2 release then all you need to do is follow the rules and search for it. Its been answered over a hundred times and wouldn't be hard to find. Also. Your device is buggy only because you caused that. If you refuse to follow the installation instructions then you should expect a lot of issues. Those instructions are there for good reason. Also. There is a fast charge option. You just didn't search on what you need to get it. You will come across a ton of useful information by doing so. Promise.
Currently I keep switching between Task's 4.2 and 4.1. I like a lot of things about 4.2 like chronos, the toggles, notification layout etc.. but I also switch to 4.1 a lot because I need a working BT. To be honest, Task's latest 4.1 is so freakibg smooth and stable that unless you really need 4.2, I don't see a reason to upgrade asap.
With that said, other than the BT issues, 4.2 is also perfect so it is only a matter of days/weeks before I am switching full time to 4.2.

Yea it ultimately comes down to performance and functionality, I have to use the phone for work so I think reverting to 4.1.2 is the best option. Thanks for the input!
EDIT: Two other questions... Is 10/12/12 the most up to date gaps for the build? Is the latest kt kernel optimized for this rom?

12/19 are the latest Gapps I believe. Also, there's a stock kernel for a reason. Ktoon's kernel may or may not work better on your phone, it depends on both your phone and your settings/way you use your phone.

Yeah I am going to test the stock kernel for now and may switch to Ktoon's later down the road. I seem to get better battery life and performance from it. Could you tell me where to find this Gapps version for tasks 4.1.2 aokp? I looked on the link provided a couple posts above and also searched the forum but have had no luck (also tried google).

In his OP.
You can also get them from goomanager (in the market).
Thank you guys, I find this thread informative to me. Thanks to OP as well!! :highfive:
Well I am back to 4.1, the only thing I miss from 4.2 is the chronus clock. Otherwise I am happy with my decision after seeing some of the bugs that are out there! I will end up switching eventually but I need something rock solid with little to no countability issues. Thanks everyone for all of the replies!

4.1.2 gapps: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
HTC Desire HD
First attempt at rooting, downloaded JellyBean - JELLYTIME for DHD/Inspire4g - 4.2 R4.Fantastic ,in awe of the work these guys do.
Only three little things that irritate me
1) the volume is terrible
Tried downloading tones from Zedge labeled LOUD...But make no difference.....
2) cannot rotate the screen to view photos
3) Wi-Fi connection not very strong.
Is there any way to improve or adjust these settings that I cannot find..????
Thanks for the hard work Randomblame.

You should problem search the jellytime thread. If that doesn't help, you could submit these problems as a bug (I think rb still uses bug tracker)

Thanks you Fallon9111
Auto-rotation not working is a common problem if you've switched to Jelly Bean from a Sense ROM. There's even a whole thread dedicated to fixing it in this forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970972
For WiFi connection, go to Settings->WiFi->Menu->Advanced->Uncheck 'Avoid poor connections'.
Also, codefireX doesn't have any volume problem and is also much more mature than JellyTime, so you might want to try that (link in my signature). It's an AOSP ROM with an amalgamation of CyanogenMod, AOKP and other features and is very stable, with everything working. You can also try Unofficial CM10.1 builds by Mustaavalkostaa if you want pure CM. Both don't have any reported volume problems. There's also CM10.1 and AOKP builds by PipelinerArd, and in my opinion all these ROMs are much more stable than JellyTime as they are more actively developed with updates every second day or so.
sashank,
thanks for the feedback.I am new to this and will try codefirex rom.
But do I need to=download the Radio and the recovery and if so Ido i install them...???
Many thanks
Was wondering if there was a recommended Cyanogen nightly in terms of stability, things working etc? Or alternativley are there other roms (other than stock) that are more stable/working? Downloaded last nights nightly but there seem to be quite a few things not functioning...

I may have spoken too soon, a few issues were just me not being familiar with JB 4.2 and how to set it up, couple of issues I've been having is that formerly full screen games and other apps are no longer hiding the on screen buttons (with the Amazon firmware there was a small pull-out tab to get them), though perhaps there is a configuration switch I am missing for this? Also some video appears to be tearing, though to be fair this might just be the video app... Also CM seems to be ignoring whatever I set the homescreen grid to be.
According to you which will be the first AOSP 4.3 based ROM available for users?
CM
AOKP
PA
or others?

I'm interested in the bluetooth changes. I have never been able to get bluetooth working without bugs no matter the release on AOKP. It has always had little quirks / bugs that are super annoying.
Any chance 4.3 addresses some of the 4.2 BT bugs? Or does anyone know a rom where BT works flawlessly? I use it so often I need it to work well and it just doesn't work well on AOKP currently for me.

Bluetooth works great on Tasks latest release. Also haven't seen any complaints lately in the CM thread.
Cm will be the first. They already have an N4 booting 4.3 (kinda).

Maybe for you.... on my device it's never worked "great". Most of the time, it "gets by" for me. I get constant random reboots when on BT, doesn't auto connect to stuff properly, i still get "turning bluetooth off....." message. I've almost always have these issues on task's 4.2.2 rom no matter which build or how it was loaded (complete wipe, etc). There was 1-2 rom builds with his rom that worked really well BT wise for me then the rest just seem to struggle to keep up with the rest of the rom It really sucks because I LOVE everything about the rom. I just wish I knew how to fix BT!!!
I'm hoping the 4.3 BT changes that come will have some benefit for the BT bugs i've seen.
