My Samsung galaxy nexus running android hd revolution was stolen. Im planning to have it blocked by the authorities, I was wondering if the imei indicated in the box has changed since its no longer running the stock google jellybean.
IMEI numbers don't change.
roms dont alter imei numbers
But can you change the imei number?

You typically can't change the IMEI without special factory tools/software.

I bought an Evo 4G and didn't know it was currently flashed to MetroPCS. I have enough knowledge and experience to flash it back so that is not my issue. The phone has something written into it so the Lock Bar Banner and the Notification Bar have Metro PCS on them (see pics). I have run RUU's, flashed roms, factory reset, ##786# reset, hooked the phone up to cdma workshop and the banners remain! In cdma workshop the banner says Sprint PCS but it displays the MetroPCS. I am completely stumped... Any help?
Solution:
You will need CDMA Workshop and you will need to read NV Item 8042. On stock Evo 4G's this file is inactive but on my phone it had HEX and when converted to text was @mymetropcs.com. I zeroed it out and wrote the file I edited. This file seems to override the "BANNER" that most diagnostic software can change. Even after a ##786# Reset this banner will remain if it is written on NV Item 8042.
You will need to hex edit the htclockscreen.apk and more than likely you are gonna find the esn is bad if it was on metro as probably 80% of phones flashed to other carriers were purchased with a blacklisted esn which means you will have to flash it to sprint using your old phone, however if sprint finds out they will terminate your account and blacklist you from ever obtaining service thru them again so tread lightly and never go to sprint for service

Thank you very much, I will try that now but am still confused as to how this apk would have not been affected by a RUU?
In qpst, after you connect the phone in service programming, on one of the tabs (I forget which one) there is a space marked "banner". Type sprint or whatever you want it to say and hit write to phone. I made mine say boost since I use them obviously. On some roms like the one I'm using, there is an app that you can use to change it too

Usually that would work but I wouldn't have been posting this thread had that been the case. Usually a ##786# reset would have wiped it had that been the case. This one was written into an NV item.
Thanks man, i was having trouble finding a solution. I kept trying to do it through qpst but it wouldnt change it
Hey all! I recently rooted my htc incredible 2, and for some reason the imei number on the back of my phone and when i dial *#06# is only 14 digits.. ive triple checked to make sure, someone help!
i only was wondering if the GNEX meid (9xxx kind) is possible to be compatible with (Axxx kind) i dont want to do it or nothing but, i mean, i only was thinking on that b/c the gnex has a IMEI and i was wondering if there can be any kind of conflicts between the (Axxx meid and the 9xxx imei), ex the imei of the gnex is 9xxxxxxxxxxxxx and the meid is 9xxxxxxxxxxxxx but if you got a imei of 9xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and a meid of Axxxxxxxxxxxxx there can be conflicts with that?, i mean technically i know you only can get text 3g speeds (not 4g b/c the imei isnt the same and couldnt be activate b/c the parameters doesnt match) and calls but the big question is if there can be conflicts between the meid and the imei because they are from different nomenclature? or for someting else?
No its not but with a HEX editor stuff can be changed

Not sure what you want to do, but just thought I'd let you know that altering an IMEI is both illegal in places, and can seriously gerfungle-up your phone. Also, the gnex IMEI has an MD5 checksum based on an unknown random seed, so it's pointless to change it with a hex editor. It will just revert to a generic IMEI that some carriers block.
I'm trying to register my device and the Samsung page wants a serial number. It says, "Don't use the number on the box" but I can't find another serial number. There is no sticker on my device, and I can't find a number in settings.
Where'e the serial number on this beast?
I used the oneoff the box. if ypu look at theback of your device it's the last set of characters. you either need good vision or a magnifier t see it!

Easier way : go to settings--------more -------- about device ---------- status---------- You will find all needed data for your note including Serial #
I don't think so. On my device all is get is: Battery Status, Battery Level, IP Address, Wi-Fi MAC Address, Bluetooth address, Up time and Device Status (it says "Official"), but no serial number or IMEI.
On my Note 3 it's there, but not on the Note 10.1 2014
Seems like Samsung left it out of the 4.3 tablet build

Are you sure ? actually I`m still on the 2012 Note 10.1 , waiting for the 2014 edition to arrive, but my wife`s Note 2 with leaked stock 4.3 does have the whole data including the IMEI # & Serial # within " Status"
Yes, I'm sure. I was looking at my 2014 edition when I made the post. It's on the Note 3, but not the 10.1
Maybe they hid it somewhere else, but the first place I went to look was the status page under "about device"
it's no longer under the status menu of the gn8 or gn10.1 2014. if i had to make a guess it's because of the rewards. it was discovered that you can walk into a retail shop and register the display device and claim the perks. making the serial number a bit harder to get to may help decrease that.
besides, the SN on the box matches the sn on my device. unless yours got switched they should match up.
I guess that makes sense, but it doesn't make sense that Samsung would say that you can't use the number on the box when you go to register on their site.
Thanks for all the help from forum members. I did get it from the tiny, tiny, tiny print on the back. Used magnifying glass app and my phone to be able to see it.
i have amazon fire phone unlocked but i can not use in my country. because it IMEI is blocked for using for not standart IMEI number.
how can i change my fire phone imei
it has Fire OS 3.6.8 with android 4.2.2 based
You should make a request to Whitelist the IMEI (range) at Your carrier. Blacklisting serves to block the use of stolen phones.
Changing the IMEI for other than educational purposes is highly illegal in most countries.
