Anyone else noticed big battery drain in all new jb roms? I think it is the modified kernel. Is there anyway to just flash the stock kernel? Even if i lose root. Just want to check if it is the problem...
Thanks

Anyone got the factory restore files flammable thru ODIN for this phone? Just wanted them incase something goes wrong.
Also does anyone know a good Rom\kernel setup to use for overclocking or better battery?
And if I'm on stock Rom but changed the kernel can I just go straight to flashing TuchMe_S3X?

You're better off asking this in the Q & A section. This is a bad area to post a question.

Ever tried searching the forum? There's even a sticky on the development thread with info on stock roms and any more

Hi all, I have been given the option of getting one of these but after having a look around the custom roms there seems to be an issue with some using a new bdownloader and some the old, a few don't even mention which they use nor does a norm seem to have been established. my question is simple, are there any good CM10.1, sense, or touchwiz roms I can just stick on a bootloader updated device and be done with it?

Only roms flashed with odins can update bootloader.
What you might be saying is either modem or kernel.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Nope definitely bootloader. What is the best option with regards to it?
Sent from my LG-P880 using Tapatalk 2
God there has been only 3 boot loader updates on note 2 as far as I know.
Bootloader has nothing to do with rom (except for exynos exploit)

There are bootloader files .tar that can be flashed via odin...it doesnt have to be a rom to change bootloader

Many thanks for the answer, unfortunately my chance to get this has passed me by, but I will remember this for future reference .

Hi, everyone!
I was just wondering if there is a way that I can get CRT off animation for a stock rooted rom? I really want to keep stock because of the S-Pen features. Plus, the fact that risking a bad IMEI after flashing a custom rom makes me cringe.
I am with the stock Wind 4.1.2 T889v, rooted.

Its that effect that's in nexus devices. It's the one that makes it look like you just turned off your old school TV.

Not sure if this will work, but worth a try. Nandroid first of course.

You'll need a few edits to services.jar and android.policy.jar, PLUS you need a kernel that supports it - on the stock kernel the effect is intermittent at best.
The man has spoken.

I don't understand why this isn't standard on AOSP and non AOSP ROMs alike. Is Samsung going out of its way to remove this?

The Samsung galaxy s2 has an official jellybean update should I still download the update even though I'm rooted & have jellybean through the root??

do I have 2 unroot & how do I do it & is it really important that I install the stock update & why??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
Are you asking how to go about installing the update, or are you asking if it's better than running whatever custom ROM you are currently using?
If you're asking whether it's better than the ROM you are currently running, that's a matter of opinion. Personally I have not tried the official Jelly Bean update, and I don't think I am going to. I like what I am using now (AOKP 4.2.2) and I don't like the T-Mobile bloatware. I know you can get rid of it, but why bother with the hassle if you have a ROM that you know works and you like?
Thanks......I have a few in 4.2.2 ROMs but if you're saying that it's not important that I install the stock rom & zip then I won't..... Thks

No, it's not important that you install it. There are advantages and disadvantages to stock vs. custom. It's up to you. Do you like touchwiz or do you like "pure" Android better? Do you need Wifi calling?
I have slimbean 4.2.2 & aokp installed & I like them both....wifi calling is not that important to me

You need to use Dark side Super wipe. It's in the development section.
Go into recovery flash the zip then flash your room again. Should solve your problem.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yup even used the dark side wipe...or do you mean Jamison's super wipe?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
You can try Jamisons. It may help

This is the first time I've seen something like this on the t989. No idea what to to tell you except that it must be touchwiz related, since PAC ROM didn't display the same issue.

This has been reported on quite a bit. Odin flashing back to ICS will fix the issue but any Jelly Bean flash thereafter with a rom based on stock 4.1.2 will bring back the black type. My work around was to flash back to stock ICS and then load CyanogenMod 10.0. What is odd is that some phones will take odin upgrade from ICS and even from GB to the new stock JB with no problem. Haven't figured out why though. I'm thinking there is something in the new kernal included in the UVMC6 rom.
