[Q]PRL Swapping? - HTC One V

I'm looking to do some PRL Swapping, I've done it before on my LG Optimus Elite (using QPST) but not my One V. Can someone tell me how to do a PRL swap on the One V?

the only surefire way i know it can be done is through qpst, using the service programming function. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162091 (it says for cm7, but same rules apply. ##3424# in the stock rom dialer, you will also need your msl, there are guides on google for that)
now with that said, if you end up needing my help and you break something, i didnt break it lol you did. swapping a prl has about a 1% risk (if that) of permanently messing something up on your phone, but it is quite an annoyance if you dont back up your original prl to go back to in an emergency situation. so keep that in mind.

ah ha i see, i tried doing ##3424# just like my elite but it didn't do anything cause I wasn't in the stock rom. I already have my msl so i should be good go, but i'll just double-check the guide to make sure im not doing it wrong. Thanks!

[Q] Can I still get the MSL in 2.2 OTA? (CDMA Way)

So, I would like to get my msl via the CDMA Workshop way. If when I do give up, I'll try calling those arses again.
Anyway, I'm curious if the CDMA Workshop will still be able to get me the MSL number following the guide here:
xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697487
Or will tha only work for 2.1?
No previous or current root, prior. So that handy market tool cant help me, I haven't tried the CDMA workshop yet, but figured I'd ask first to see if enough people have tried it with raw 2.2 to see if i'd have results first. Thanks all.
It works 100% fine bro, I did it on my replacement phone last night.
as far as the MSL goes IDK why all the issues are soooo huge about getting it, its not like its hard *2, wait on hold for a minute, gimme my MSL, why do you want it? none of your F'ing business gimme my MSL okay here ya go, click.
write it down, email it to yourself, tattoo your arm, and voila

I couldn't get the drivers working for CDMA Workshop. Go the easy way though and just install "MSL Reader" from the market. Its free and it actually works.

Yeah, except the OP said he doesn't have root.
I did it just fine using CDMA Workshop before MSL Reader came out. The drivers worked fine for me on Windows 7 x64.

I am pretty sure being rooted will not prevent you from flashing to Metro. If anything, being rooted is necessary. S-off will not have an adverse effect on the flashing to Metro process, either.
Everything you need to know is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704161
I got it to root prior to reading this. I will take to M PCS and see if flash is successful (this time around)
thanks.

Wait.......you're taking the Evo to Metro PCS? I don't think they are going to be very helpful seeing as this is not something they condone. What you need (and please read the thread to clarify because I have never personally done this myself but will be doing it soon for a friend of mine) is to have an existing account with Metro so that you can add the info from that account to the Evo and therefore activating on Metro. Unless you know someone that works there and knows what they are doing with this, I don't think you should bother taking it over to them.
Sorry, I should have clarified: I am existing and need to have phone Metro Flashed to get the service. Merely adding the # isn't working as I am on their system already.
I lost the Metro Flash when I screwed up my 1st attempt at rooting.
Here's the problem. Evo is stock & unrooted. People at Metro (right now) are saying that they can't get their computers to read my evo so they are re-downloading drivers, etc. It failed first attempt (today) to metroflash.
I was successful at another corp. store and may need to try where it succeeded.

So Metro is helping you flash a phone from another carrier over to them? Talk about customer service! lol
For what it's worth I've never even had to have an EVO rooted to swap its carrier.
Keep in mind though, if you put any AOSP ROM on your phone you will lose the ability to enter ##DIAG# to enter diagnostic mode, and lose the EPST stuff. (For editing settings on the phone, not through QPST/CDMA WS)
If you are flashed to metro or in my case cricket, and you root then you might lose web/mms. Talk and text can be obtained without rooting but web and mms need rooting to run on the proxy work around.

That's where I screwed it up the first go-around. My Evo is good now.

that's the part (AOSP) I didn't realize when I got into android flashing/rooting...
Could've saved me a lot of heartache had I been patient and did more homework on XDA.

[Q] Get 'Unauthorized' when trying to make calls, will not OTA

I am using the Jiminy V Rom on Cricket
I am unable to OTA or make calls on the Cricket network. when I try and make a call I get 'Unauthorized' and when I try to OTA (*228) the system says 'unable' at the very beginning. I have done many EVO's to cricket before, and I have checked and double checked all my PST settings, my MEID/MIN/MDN/PRL particularly.
Even when OTA doesnt work , I can always get voice/text working on virtually any other phone by manually programming the MDN/MIN/Home SID & PRL.
My cricket home SID is 4923 & I am using PRL 32200
I have even loaded a working evo's PST settings into this phone (via QPST, read from one phone, write to another), and get same results even after making sure the MDN/MIN & MEID are correct.
The symptoms are exactly the same as if my MEID is not in the cricket system, yet I have triple checked them (and I had someone else program another phone with my MEID and that phone OTA'd and made calls on Cricket with no problem).
Some other data for consideration Android 2.1, build Baseband 2.15.00……007.25 kernel 2.6., Radio 2.05.00.06.10, HBOOT 0.79.0000 SHIP S-OFF
I have also tried factory builds 2.2 (3.26.651.6) and 2.1, (Baseband 2.05.00.06.10,Build 1.41.651.1) with same result. Note: they did not change the PST.
Is there a factory build which will put everything back to Sprint or should I consider updating the HBoot and /or Radio?, I assume the programming for the OTA is done in the Radio?
I am stumped.
Bump, If anybody can help me with this, its been driving me up the wall for two weeks now.,
Have you tried flashing an RUU and updating everything from there? If it isn't the MEID then it might just be your phone having a glitch. Flash it using RUU and let me know.
how do you reset PST/NAM (SPC,MIN,MDN, Etc) to factory?
I have tried RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe , hboot goes from 0.92 to 0.79, radio from 2.15 to 1.39.00.04.26, and android from 2.2 to 2.1.
But the pst/nam settings remain unchanged, mdn, min, sip, nai, etc are all cricket. even the SPC is still unlocked at 000000. ANd the S-OFF flag is off, Shouldnt the RUU's re-root the phone?
Is there an alternate way to run the RUU, I have tried putting the phone in HBOOT usb mode, then run the RUU but with three different batteries it tells me they are too low (under 30%).
Should I be in Hboot mode to run RUU? (I have been running it from the PC with the phone booted up.
To answer a couple of my own questions, none of the RUU's reset the EPST whether they where loaded from the PC via the .exe method or from the SD card PB31IMG method.
I found a reference to ##786# and found that yes that does reset the EPST (including the SPC) back to factory.
So I figured maybe the problem would be solved, so I updated PST for cricket (MDN,MIN,SID,PRL) and tried again, still no OTA and still 'Unauthoriized; when I try to make calls.
I am starting to believe I have a hardware problem, but how can most of the phone work and yet it have (apparently) problems transmitting MEID?
Seems like no interest here or everybody stumped. I am willing to pay some one to help me resolve this. contact to my email or post here, I will certainly let the forum know when I resolve this. Thanks

Your problem has different symptoms from mine (the threadstarter), it sounds like your prl is incorrect. If you have a correct prl & sid (these can vary for the market you are in , in Phoenix the SID is 4923 and I use the old nationwide non EVDO PRL of 1040) when you dial 611 you will get Cricket, regardless of your ESN/MEID being registered with Cricket, if this doesnt work do not go further. Find a PRL/SID that works (sometimes changing CDMA connect from Auto to Home only can help) . Also make sure MNC/MNC are set to 310/0. Country code/Carrier I think.
Once you get 611 to connect to Cricket, *228 (OTA) will connect to cricket, if It disconnects you before the music starts playing and says 'Sorry....' it is most likely your MEID is not registered correctly with Cricket. In Phoenix *228 always works on EVo's as long as SID/PRL/MEID are correct,
The message you are getting about a credit card required means you are connnecting to some other carriers network (usually Verizon) which is transferring you to someplace to allow you to make a call even though you are
"not authorized" on the network. Go back and check 611 & *228.*228 will load the correct prl for your area and rate plan, check after it runs to see what was loaded. It will also most likely overwrite EVDO settings including MIP, Sip, NAI, etc.
At this point your phone should work, talk & text.
I had the same problem and I look all over. I wanted to unroot and remove jimmy v rom. I was think that if i update to the new update that it will fix it self and i was right. First I had to remove the jimmy v rom, so i got ruu to update the htboot and that let me update to the new 2.3.3. It fix it self and f***ing A.

Can you be more specificwhat you loaded and what versions of hboot where involved? I downgraded to 2.1 (with RUU) and hboot .79 and it did not resolve problem.

loose carrier on custom rom flash?

I have a evo 4g on verizon and I have backed up all info in qpst and used qxdm to get ha secret and aaa secret both 32 digits long. Was wanting to know if I flash a custom rom would I loose carrier settings? Also i believe I would loose the ability to use epst, to get in diag mode to restore settings in qpst if custom rom removed my settings so is there a way or guide that I could follow so that I could maintain my service and not mess anything up or should I leave well enough alone?
Some people have said it can happen but me and a lot of other people have never had a problem. I have my EVO on Boost Mobile and within the last week alone I've flashed like 5 different ROMS and it has never touched any of my settings (Which it shouldn't anyway). Only thing you may need to change is the MMS server settings and as long as you flast a sense ROM you'll have EPST and be able to access all the codes. If you flash an AOSP ROM then yes, you won't have EPST. Hope this helps!
thanks bro bout to give it a shot (fingers crossed)
worked perfectly and fixed my camera also

Yes you can. You just need to flash a metro prl to your phone, and then contact them. They should be able to do the rest ota. You can get a metro prl here http://www.corolada.com/prl/. If on a stock rom you can flash it with epst, if not you need to use a pc program called QPST.
Man you are the greatest..Seriously!
Im gonna try it right now
Although i need help because QPST cant detect the phone. Im pretty sure that means that the phone needs to be in diagnostic mode
But im trying to get in it but i can't. Does it have to do with being in Tiny's CM10 and not stock?
Well update, i went to gingerbread and changed the prl but i dont think my number got transfered although the metropcs system works
Any help with this?

Simply changing the prl will not program your phone. The prl meerly allows metro to comunicate with the phone. Im not sure exactly how metros system works. Do you already have an account and number from metro, and is the phones meid registered on metro? If it is you can probably dial *228 and select the option to program if metro uses this option. If you dont have an accout or your phone isnt registered with metro, you will need to call them and do so. You just give them the phones meid they register it, and then program the phone ota (over the air).
