Oke i'm going to give some links, you definatly are not ready to unlock root and flash at the moment. Sounds stupid but you have to read a lot more before you start !
Some tips of the working order
1 : unlock the bootloader on the htcdev site
2 : flash the custom cwm recovery
3 : do a nandroid backup of the original rom (the one that's on it now) IMPORTANT !
Links are coming up ......
Read this very good and even a couple of times so that you understand what it all means. Questions you can ask here. I will keep an eye on this thread for support

But don't you want to stay on stock for a while untill you had the jellybean update ? Because you want to root it now .... and you will be back in a few days/weeks to get it back to stock because you want the JB update !

The link you posted is for the at&t version of the phone. You should use tools made for the international one x.

Sorry guys i am absolutely new here :$

Call me oldfashion but when you learn to understand the tutorial including the commands you are better off than some all in one tool. Don't get me wrong. But knowing the commands can get you out of very bad situations !

Well if the new update would be soon. i think i can wait.. no rush then Thanks for that tip

Yeah well do not know when the update hits your phone ....
But if its a brand new one i would keep it stock for a while and see if there are not some small errors or flaws popping up. Unlocking and rooting may void some warranty
And in the meantime you can spend some time here and read up on things. And Mr Hahahaha is right about the AT&T forum....stay away from there. This forum is the one you need (its a different phone) the AT&T version is a dual-core and the international HTC one x is a quad-core phone !

A new HTC One V User needs guidance...

Hello everyone,
I have just become a new Android user and I'm absolutely loving it. I heard about rooting and how it could be dangerous as well as beneficial. I got a SIM-unlocked HTC One V (GSM Version) and I'm too worried to root it without knowing the margin of risk that comes with rooting it. If it is little to no risk could someone please post a tutorial on how to check your firmware version (for example: IML74K), and how to flash a custom kernel? I also heard about one-click rooting. Is it safe and what precautions should I make prior to rooting in case something goes wrong?
Thanks in advance,
-M

how to make sure please , i thought the market is a trusted source 1!!
aw, you've downloaded it from the PlayStore. It used to work if its bough. Check the games topic and see which games and their versions are working for your device. I'd suggest you to use Chainfire but you said that your tab isnt rooted.

If your device is new I suggest you not to root it before you know what you are doing. Rooting your device will void your warranty. I suggest you to ask the people in the store where you bought it if there is some problems if you do so (I did it this way and they said its fine if I dont brick it myself). If you think you know enough to proceed there you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197 . Also I suggest you to install custom ROM because its way faster then stock OS. There is other way, check the topic for games available for A101 and check if the version matches with the one you've downloaded from PlayStore.

yes it's new .. i will wait the warranty to end , after that i will root it ..
but please ,, i have some questions , i hope you will answer me..
1.. you advise me to install a custom ROM as its faster ,, doesn't rooting include installing it ? or rooting is a step and installing a custom ROM is a separated step which i can ignore ?
2..the topics you gave has a lot of firmwares which one to use ? how do i know ?
3.is it true that with rooting i can download paid apps for free ?
i know this is far away from the main topic , but i need to know every thing about rooting , as it a little bit confusing me ..

1.First you root your device by installing Special Developer Edition of android called also SDE and then install the custom rom over it. Your device remains rooted with the custom rom.
2. The firmwares are just firmware versions released by Archos. Download the latest one and all the files with the same number for the correct firmware. If you like to proceed ofcourse.
3.

[Q] Jelly Bean Official Update and root

So I rooted/unlocked bootloader etc..., but dragged my feet on installing custom ROM's. So i see that Rogers One X is getting an official Jelly Bean update. I am on AT&T so I would assume that the AT&T update is coming soon. Do I need to unroot so I don't risk bricking my phone or will the OTA update work anyway?

yeah man, you need to unroot, get back stock recovery and relock bootloader then use the correct RUU,.
it sounds like alot to do but it really is just a few fastboot commants and letting the RUU run its course, there is many guides but i think you are in the wrong forum, do you have the international one X or the dual core version?
if you have the dual core version then the correct guide for you will be here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Can you point me to a guide for this for the international HOX? I'm running into an issue with the last part, it fails when trying to update. Thanks!
Thanks for that info and yep in the wrong forum. Didn't realize the forums were specific to carrier. :0

Help needed to Root and install latest compatible android on HTC One V

Guys I own a HTC One V for past 1 year. now since the warranty is over I am planning to root the phone and thinking of installing custom ROMs
The only issue is that I am completely new in this rooting/custom rom business. In other words I am complete noob.
Please make things simple for me and help me step by step so that I can root my phone.
After rooting please guide me in same simple manner how can I install custom ROMs on my One V?
Please give link of latest and supported custom ROM for One V? Which version is currently available for this phone? 4.2 or 4.3? Can I by any chance get 4.4 on this device?
Please guide!

I've wanted to say that HTC (as far as I know) is the only smartphones provider that let users unlock bootloader and root devices with step by step guide trough their official site. You have to google "HTC One V root" and search for htc.com site
I'm wondering why they won't sell unlocked and rooted devices

Hi, welcome to Grand community
Samsung is a little different from HTC in terms of reverting back to warranty status
For a while now Samsung implemented a BIN status in it's phone which tracks if an how many times your phone has had it's download mode used to flash firmwares or recoveries. This is the primary means of checking for your warranty.
When you are unrooting, there are specific steps you will have to follow to make 100% certain that there is no trace of your phone ever being rooted.
Please check this post for step-by-step process : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46309944&postcount=31

The play store payment is a way of thanking him for this app, but the dev has been generous enough to provide a full version for free.
