So here is the story:
I have a Galaxy S3 with Rogers (AT&T). I decided to root my phone which I did successfully using OSX terminal and installed goo manager as the rom manager and recovery. I installed SU and Titanium backup to get ready to flash. Backed up all my system + app data and searched for a rom. The first rom I flashed was 747 greystone. Once I flashed the rom, I restored the backup from Titanium and I believe I selected to restore all, system backup included. I later on learned that I ****ed up by doing so. Anyways, since I flashed that rom my GPS hasnt worked at all. I restored my nandroid backup, which I did before flashing greystone and nothing. I flashed team sonic's resurrection and nothing. Now I flashed Rogers (my provider) stock rom and still I can't get my stupid GPS to go on. On top of that today 4.1.1 finally came out for my phone and after the update the GPS wont work still. What else can I do? Please help me!!!!

Okay, I just flashed MIUI 11.5? Anyways it's the stable version. And I'm trying to restore the apps thAt I backed up previously on cm6. I can back up my data just fine. But I restore my apps and reboot, everything is gone. All of the pre installed apps that come with the rom everything. Also, when I try to do a MIUI backup, the same exact thing happens. I did the original app and data back ups using my back up pro. It's worked all other times thAt I've flashed a new rom. Sorry if this a noob question. I'm new to this stuff.
Using evo 4g
re_flash the rom wipe everything might have corrupt data from backup

i think i just figured it out. all the apps were under one icon.
Nevermind, it was just the stock apps that come with it. None of my downloads.
Hi guys,
So I was previous rooted running a custom ICS rom, with ktoonsez, etc. Tonight I wanted to try out JB, so I saved a backup in CWM and then installed a Jellybean stock rom for my carrier with "root injected", All of this worked totally fine in Odin. Afterwards I used Odin to re-install CWM, and that worked fine, I then rebooted into CWM to install the 4.2 Camera/Gallery zip, THAT worked totally fine.
I've since rebooted my device and it seems that root permissions has totally disappeared. The 4.2 camera is still there, I can't get into CWM, Superuser is still on my device BUT it has no apps listed. And Titanium Backup and SetCPU cannot detect root.
Any ideas how to restore this? Kind of surprised that it would just....disappear even after installing CWM and 4.2 camera zip.
Like the title says I have upgraded to the latest version of Android revolution HD 18.1
However, when I managed to make it work (took some since i forgot to update to latest hboot), it doesn't connect to my normal wifi network.
It did however worked when I flashed to rom, but when I used titanium backup to restore all my apps (I always have been doing this, since the earlier versions) I rebooted and it won't connect to my wifi anymore.
What can I do in exact steps to fix this problem? And is it possible to do this without flashing again?
Did you restore just apps or apps + system data? Because system data can conflict with new Rom you will proberly have to reflash Rom and only restore apps no system data with titanium

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a rooted, unlocked E-980 with ATT. I am NOT running a custom ROM. I woke up this morning, looked at my phone and noticed in the notification window something about an available update. Being half asleep and not expecting any issues I did not pay attention to the pop up box and simply clicked update. My phone immediately rebooted and went into recovery which I now cannot get out of. I even tried restoring to a backup from a couple months ago and the phone will not boot up. Has anyone ran into similar issues today and/or know how to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I actually had the same issue... I tried restoring from backups & it will boot up then go back to recovery... The way i got out of it was factory restore using lg flash tool method & re rooting...

I hear the new update is unrootable
No it's not currently rootable but if you root before the update then you keep root but you will sift brick if you have custom recovery.... I restored to stock...rooted...applied the update then did freegee to install cwm... I'm now rooted with custom recovery and have the update...

Same thing happened to me. I kept trying to dodge the update, and kept checking the forums to see if anyone had posted about it. Well I guess I accidentally clicked update, or it decided to do it for me. Now all I can get into is freegee cwm recovery.
Thanks for the advise! I'll try the back to stock option. I do have one additional question - Is there a way to get a backup file off the phone if it only boots into recovery? Prior to wiping my phone I did a backup in CWM and I can see the backups in CWM. Is there a way to get that backup file off the phone?
Did you do the backup & save it to your memory card or the phone memory?
Hey people im a newbie here and i want to learn stuff about android.
Recently i checked out the cm 11(4.4.2) roms for my XM... they were good but most of the releases are in the beta stages... I reverted to my stock rom(4.1.2) after a try...
I had a backup of my earlier stock rom(4.1.2) which i restored through cwm successfully.. all went great.. But then the liquid smooth rom came in and i wanted to try it... it was great... i made a clean flash of the liquid smooth rom from my stock... i had a backup of my cm11(4.4.2) rom from before.. i made an advance restore of the data from it(4.4.2 to 4.4.2) and everything went well...
Now my question is if in case i do an advance restore of data from my stock rom backup(4.1.2) to the liquid smooth rom(4.4.2)... will i get any issues??
Thanks for helping in advance..
I'm far from an expert on the topic at hand, however I believe you shouldn't get any errors so long as all the system files to the ROM are left untouched. Get somebody to confirm or correct me however.

playing with nandroid
I did a few sessions of backup and restores in my XM... I found quite a wierd result..
When i do an advanced restore from stock rom(4.1.2) backup to liquid rom(4.4.2) all works fine...
But whenever i try an advanced restore from liquid rom(4.4.2) backup to stock(4.1.2) i get a bootloop...
I just wanna know if this is the same with everyone or is there a mistake in my measures... I guess its got to do something with android upgrading and downgrading procedures... if its not my fault...
