Project Open Cannibal presents...
Cannibal Open Touch v2.1 for LG Optimus V
About Cannibal Open Touch:
Cannibal Open Touch is the next generation of custom recoveries. Jam-packed with cool and useful features, it can handle just about anything you can throw at it.
Main Features:
1. Support for both Edify and Amend scripting (flash all ROMS!)
2. Theme support
3. Get out of recovery boot loops
4. Touch screen button controls!
5. Compatibility with Xionia nandroid backups (if on LG Optimus device)
6. GooManager support!
7. Internal e2fsprogs for size
8. Backported “retouch binaries” patch for ICS/JB compatibility
9. Advanced Backup
10. Delete old backups!
11. Persistent settings
12. User-defined backup locations!
13. ADB Sideload
14. Touchscreen calibration
Why the name Cannibal Open Touch?
Because we can. The name also embodies everything that Cannibal Open Touch is. It is no longer just a variant of ClockworkMod Recovery, it is it's own recovery by itself. Combining features from ClockworkMod 5, Team UtterChaos' Sony Xperia recovery, AmonRa 3.0.6, Xionia CWMA and a heaping helping of our own special enhancements it is truly revolutionary.
What to do when an error occurs:
DO NOT simply say "xxxx doesn't work" as that is highly unhelpful and will probably be ignored. Instead, post the recovery log! To grab a log when an error occurs, simply open a terminal (or command prompt if on Windows), "cd" to an easily accessible directory and execute:
Code:
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
Paste the log as an attachment (don't paste the text inside, as it can be quite lengthy), or paste it on pastebin.com.
WARNING!
If you are upgrading from a previous version of Cannibal Open Touch you must delete the settings.ini file located in the cotrecovery folder on your sdcard!
Flashing instructions:
1. Follow these instructions (external link) for installing flash_image if you haven't already done so.
2. Make sure USB Debugging is ON and that you have ADB access
3. Download the Cannibal Open Touch image from the download link below.
4. Place the recovery image on your SD Card.
5. Fire up an ADB shell
6. Make sure you are in a root shell. If you are not, execute the "su" command now.
7. Execute "flash_image recovery /path/to/recovery.img" (replace /path/to/recovery.img with the ACTUAL path to the recovery image)
8. Reboot to recovery mode
9. PROFIT!
Already have a custom recovery?
1. Download the ZIP installer from the download link below
2. Reboot to recovery
3. Flash the ZIP installer as you would a ROM or Kernel (that is, flash it from recovery)
4. PROFIT!

Awesome! An update for the V, so unexpected. This project was a huge success!

Ok. This is very impressive. Should post your installer zip file as well. Very polished
Big plus having a zip. This will benifit those that manage to get themselves into a recovery loop, but don't what to revert to Xionia (which really only works best with Froyo ROMs).

I like the look of this recovery and I was wondering how I'd go about porting it. I have the One V and I noticed you have a topic on your forums for the One V but nothing posted on it.
Cheers, worldindo1.

One V has some bugs and is still in the beta section of the POC Forums, we actually need some new testers noone has responded to my recent inquiries regarding the last bug report.

Apologies for my lateness in responding. I would be more than willing to test it out if you want. If you shoot me a copy I could test it and get back to you on how everything works.
This should work w/ Vortex, correct?

This has only been tested on the Optimus V, I would be very careful about checking the board settings for the VM670 vs the Vortex before trying to flash this recovery. I honestly don't know if it will work without looking into the Vortex a bit.
Can this be flashed using the Flash Image GUI app by joeykrim? Thanks.

there's a little-known trick, you can retain your existing recovery while testing another, but you'll lose your ROM boot.
You can
Code:
flash_image boot recovery.img
since they're the same type of compressed image. I've done it on the V and had others do it on the S. When you use the recovery to flash a ROM it overwrites the boot-img recovery you just installed. It's a regular power on to get into the boot-img version of a recovery, and you can use the key combo to boot into your working recovery after testing it.
Beware, though. Incompatible kernels may mess up your device good. I deliberately flashed a p500 kernel to my V, it locked up nastily, and it wouldn't power on without rebooting for hours after reflashing a usable kernel. for days, I couldn't overclock, and it always seemed weaker after that.

flash image gui works fine on the optimus v, and shouldn't have any issues with this recovery.
As the link is dead and could not access, I found this working and put to who need this recovery. My friend KF have problem with touch screen, some part had not response to touch. so the TWRP could not slide to recovery. I hope this work

Flashing Instructions
1. Download the above file.
2. Move the downloaded recovery file into the directory where you have ADB and Fastboot setup on your computer.
3. Navigate into the directory where you have ADB and Fastboot setup on your computer and run the following commands from the command prompt on your computer:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery manta-oudhs-1.0.3.6-unofficial.img
Congratulations you now have OUDHS Recovery version 1.0.3.6 running on your Nexus 10.
Credits: shabbypenguin for developing the OUDHS source code and for being an excellent mentor!
Thanks!! Downloading as I type!!
Update: Flashed and was able to run a backup and restore, also flashed with no problems. One thing I see is that the font is really small, it maybe due to the high density display of the Nexus 10, if it can be adjusted to the same size as Clockworkmod it will be perfect. The gestures are sweet!!
Thanks.
Erik
Word on the street(and Google) is that this recovery supports OpenRecoveryScript. Is this true? Also does it support multi-zip flashing? Finally, does it work(as in not constantly reboot like TWRP)? I have never used/heard of this recovery before, and don't have much time to flash yet tonight, which is why I am asking all of the questions. Thanks!

Yes, as this recovery is based on the Clockworkmod Recovery source code is does support OpenRecoveryScript. As far as multi-zip flashing is concerned this recovery does not support multi-zip flashing like TWRP does. Also, It does work without constantly rebooting. If you have any other questions I'll be happy to answer them as best I can.

So it doesn't require the proprietary hooks used in ROM Manager? Multi-zip flashing isn't important, I was just wondering. I would however really like to have unrestricted access to ORS. Thanks!

I haven't personally tested any OpenRecoveryScripts on this but it should work as I believe the OUDHS source is patched to include support.
This supports regular CWM backups. Nice! I'm currently testing ORS support, I'll edit this post with results.
EDIT: Nope, it just rebooted to recovery and I would have to flash manually. I'll try with RM installed.
Thank u very much for this. I just flashed it and it looks great. I concur that the font could be slightly larger but my eyes are still pretty good. I've never heard of this recovery and haven't been able to locate any real info on it. Can u point me anywhere?

Glad you like it and if you want to learn more about it you can check out the OUDHS github that contains the recovery source code. Overall OUDHS recovery is based on CWMR sources with some modifications and additional features such a open source touch support and some other enhancements.
I can't seem to find where the backup is stored on my tablet?! I made one and in recovery it shows that its in sdcard/clockworkmod/, but in that folder I only have three tiny files. Yet, I know the backup (wherever it is) is actually consuming 3gigs or so... Any ideas?

Try navigating to the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup directory and seeing if your backups are in there. Also how big are the backup files you are able to see currently? Because usually Clockworkmod compresses it's backups heavily to save space.
Edit: The other place to check would be /data/media/clockworkmod/backup that is most likely where the backups will be

I got it booting, it also flashes files correctly, but somehow the reboot actions won't work - it stucks at the background and all options gone
I am sure to fix it in short time.
I hope @Phil3759 can help getting it work to bring up this wonderfull recovery to you.
If someone is interested in Testing:
i can upload a build for you. But at the moment you need to reboot into downloadmode and reboot the device from there to go back into your running system
I posted a recoverylog and all needed information here in hope to get some help in fixing it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52584394&postcount=3950

Nice. I've tried this before on i8190, with a port that @Unjustified Dev made from the T599 Philz recovery. It had reboot issus too, so every reboot option made it reboot back to recovery.
Hope you get it sorted out.
@tys0n it reboots but it takes long time i'll try something else after my OmniROM for Tab 3 finished compiling
Edit:
Posted Screensot in 2nd post
Edit2:
Still not working after clicking on "Reboot..." i need to wait 5 minutes

Hey @Android-Andi,
great work, as usual! Did you cross-check with this reboot code, see: https://github.com/TeamCanjica/android_system_core/commit/b6cb91b1f70c969bb0f818a24111c0ca055be590
That's an infamous issue on STE devices, which I came across initially with Omni as well. Just a guess, but could be the same root cause.
thanks @golden-guy forgot about that. i´ll try again and see this commit will fix it. else i can try the kernel-hack
@golden-guy you are my hero rebooting now fine without issues
I attached PhilZ Touch 6.41.5 in 3rd Post
Use on your Own risk feel free to give some feedback or report issues.
Edit:
Just flashed my selfmade OmniROM without issues I love PhilZ Touch Running it for a long time now on my P3110.
Is anyone running it ? I'm on twrp which is quite optimized for our device, would it worth a try flashing this?
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
@Balino i am running it already. No problems found. If you don't like it, then you can flash TWRP.zip everytime from the recovery to get it back
Give it a try and post some feedback - i am sure you like PhilZ and all it's advanced Functions and options (all Features mentioned in the main thread -first post -, also 3rd post is a quick-guide).

Thank you for reply but I was wondering if it is as optimized as twrp from nova fusion... Full selinux support etc
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, without selinux supported kernel you can not flash KitKat ROMs
Trying won't hurt you also I am not using a prebuild kernel for my recoveries.
Well I tested it and it's working well but I Like twrp more... Keep up the good work anyway...
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
Good work Guys thank you
Great work, i have waited sooo long for this recovery
Keep up your awesome work!!
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Also, waited and waited, finally my wait is over!
A BIGGA thank man!
Edit:
My feedback:
Recovery itself is as expected, i don't find any missing feature / functionality or so compared to official supported devices by Phil...
CM11 flashing test went just fine, no problems etc.
Is it just me, or a bug?
I can't get device listed "adb devices" while in recovery mode. Same with TWRP.
Also tried to kill server and restart as root but it didn't help.
The one from novafusion works for me so it shouldn't be computer related.
.
Sent through time and space from my s3mini/CM11
@tys0n i´ll check that next days, same here, lol

I have to say, this is very good, still concerned that it is an unsupported recovery now, though I did see that Philz updated sources today with a fixed lib file. Good work @mythi. Are you going to update this or does it matter?

Why would he post the fact that it needs fixed and the fix in that thread then? I know he stopped support due to work, but then he must feel it important enough to post about it?
Hi guys. Does anyone know if backup and restore works on 4.4.2 kitkat with this recovery?
I'll answer my own question. Yes it does, as I did a restore from my backup last night making it, imho the best recovery for our device.

CWM is very outdated, brain dead (it will kill root on zip flashes) and unsupported. Philz is a better choice if you like that kind of recovery, but it is abandoned as well. TWRP is a better choice if you grab the one from the Multi-ROM thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...mod-multirom-v30-multirom-twrp-i9295-t2962492
philz touch builds are currently broken on cm12 so there isnt much todo on cm12 , will see if its same on cm11
Am i the only one with following problem?
When i turn off the phone and plug in the power cable, the Stock charging animation appears but its freezed. After 15 seconds a smaler charging animation appears. Next thing is: During this, i cant use the power button to power on the phone. The phone restarts, but it will go back into the charging animation. I must unplug the power cable to boot the phone into android.
I think this is a problem of CWM/PhilZ ?!
PhilZ Touch 6.57.9 CWM 6.0.5.1 with CM12 official nightly.
Cannibal Open Touch 3.0 Alpha 10
Disclaimer:
While we try to test our work as much as possible, it is always a possibility that something could go wrong and screw up your phone. We are not responsible for any damage that is done to your device, either directly or indirectly, as a result of using Cannibal Open Touch or any other Project Open Cannibal projects. Any damage done to your device is your responsibility and your responsibility only. We do this for fun, and we simply like to share our work.
What is Cannibal Open Touch?
Cannibal Open Touch is a custom recovery (like ClockworkMod or TWRP), created purely out of love for the platform and the desire to contribute something cool to the community. The name embodies everything that Cannibal Open Touch is. We take what we believe are the best features of popular recoveries like TWRP and ClockworkMod and, well, cannibalize them along with rolling out our own features.
Features:
Full Touch UI
Complete theme support, including app for management of themes (we'll get to that in a sec)
On-device backup and restore
Backup and restore via ADB
Much much more planned!
Bugs:
During installation, the standard Android installing icon gets displayed instead of the custom dialog box.
If you find a bug, please do not report it here! Instead, report it in the GitHub repository!
Screenshots
See the Screenshots tab above. (Or click me if you're using Tapatalk!)
Nandroid has been replaced!
Nandroid is in fact gone, and has been replaced with a much more robust backup solution. Backups can now be made either with ADB (the recommended way) or via the new Backup and Restore item in the main menu. Backups made via the built-in menu can be copied to a PC and restored via ADB, and backups made via ADB can likewise be copied to your device and restored using the Backup and Restore menu.
Code:
adb backup -f mybackupfilename.ab boot system data cache
You can also restore said backup by using adb, like so:
Code:

Cannibal Open Touch themes app:
We are currently seeking Alpha testers for an app that will let users download and choose themes without rebooting to recovery mode. Currently there are 20 slots open. If you wish to join please PM me. The only requirement is you must have a Google+ account and are willing to submit proper bug reports, should any arise.
Cannibal Open Touch Themes:
You can now make your own themes for Cannibal Open Touch! See the example themes (it's pretty self-explanatory). Themes must be installed in /sdcard/cot/themes/theme_name (or /data/media/cot/themes/theme_name) in order to work. Please feel free to submit pull requests to have your custom themes added to the theme repository. They will also be packaged and made available to download via the Cannibal Themes app (mentioned above)!

Notice: COT Alpha 10
DISREGARD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
A new issue which was brought on by FDE (Full Device Encryption) introduced in Lollipop, forced us to move the recovery themes and settings to /cache/cot. Of course since it's in cache, your recovery themes and settings susceptible to being accidentally wiped during a cache wipe. This will be fixed soon, but until then, please avoid wiping cache.
THIS BUG DOES NOT AFFECT YOU AT THE PRESENT MOMENT. THIS IS ALPHA 9, AND WHAT I DESCRIBED WASN'T INTRODUCED TO COT UNTIL A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER ALPHA 9'S GENERAL RELEASE. DO NOT EVEN WORRY ABOUT AVOIDING WIPING CACHE UNTIL I EITHER RELEASE ALPHA 10, OR TELL YOU THAT WE FIXED THE ISSUE.
Upcoming News: Most important changes are listed below
Alpha 10 (Coming Soon) will have all of the following changes:
http://review.projectopencannibal.org/30 - This helps low memory devices load large ROMs.
http://review.projectopencannibal.org/33 - Fixes scaled images not loading correctly.
http://review.projectopencannibal.org/61 - Solves FDE causing recovery not to boot on Lollipop+
Hi, thanks for this. I'll try it. I just wanted to let you and anyone wanting to download this know that I couldn't download it though mobile Firefox, Chrome or just Samsung "Internet".
Maybe I should have tried loading it in Desktop mode in the mobile browser, forgot about that.
What worked for me was either:
1. I don't have any particular browser set to open links. I let "Internet" open the link from the first post and then it prompted to open again, but this time in addition to showing the browsers as available choices, it also showed (Google) Drive. Open it with that.
2. If you open the link in the first post with any browser at all, and choose to add the D2LTE folder to your Drive, then open your Drive app and download it from there.
Recovery FLASHABLE version now posted near the bottom of the first post of the 3Minit Battery Mod for Conquest-Singularity and both Stock ND8 and NDC with 1000+ animated battery icons..
[BATTERY] Plasma Battery! ??? & wickeddecimalbarwide_colors

Sent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy SIII on TouchWiz 4.4.2 with Conquest: Singularity v7.0, Ktoonsez' latest kernel and the latest Philz Touch Recovery.
I made a quick video demonstration to show off the recovery with themes, and backup if you guys want to peek before flashing it.

What is better than the standard CM Recovery:
You can flash another firmware (not the CM)
Normal backup data
You can easily flash the Root

Unlock the bootloader as on CM Wiki instructions
Puth the phone in bootloader mode

Enter the following command:

fastboot -i 0x2970 erase recovery
then Enter

Is this the reason why i can't install gapp on my wileyfoxswift and an error appear("e: unable to find partition size for '/recovery") every time i use the wipe.
i upgraded from 12.1 to
13.0-20160127-NIGHTLY-crackling and use the same for recovery but did not work so i installed TWRP and this error occurs -see pics
PLEASE HELP
AromaGapp not working in TWRP
TWRP not working in Aroma Gapp need fix (Aroma is best for me since i can customize install & will not replace CM stock files/app)
In the previous post, i was able to install twrp but i found out on many trial and error that open gapp aroma/full doesn't work both on cm12.1 and cm13.0 using TWRP. Also cm13.0 recovery will not work with open gapp aroma/full.
What works: (haven't tried all version)
On TWRP - i was able to use arm64-pico-6.0 on cm13.0 20160130
On CM Recovery - arm64-aroma-5.1 on cm12.1 20160107
This is based on my experience with the HELP of the awesome people in the forum. I just want to let you know and maybe it will be useful to other noobs like me

Aroma compatibility with TWRP is listed on the Open G-Apps website.
Unfortunately this is the only TWRP we have available to us.

The .img file can be flashed by fastboot.
The zip file by any non stock recovery
and yes I do know the image file is contained in the zip but some people may not

Yes i downloaded the zip file, extracted the recovery.img then flashed by fastboot. I am used to using fastboot commands
So the zip file would function as an update file via a non stock recovery, however once installed would replace the non stock recovery with twrp version!
