Project Open Cannibal presents...
Cannibal Open Touch v2.1 for LG Optimus V
About Cannibal Open Touch:
Cannibal Open Touch is the next generation of custom recoveries. Jam-packed with cool and useful features, it can handle just about anything you can throw at it.
Main Features:
1. Support for both Edify and Amend scripting (flash all ROMS!)
2. Theme support
3. Get out of recovery boot loops
4. Touch screen button controls!
5. Compatibility with Xionia nandroid backups (if on LG Optimus device)
6. GooManager support!
7. Internal e2fsprogs for size
8. Backported “retouch binaries” patch for ICS/JB compatibility
9. Advanced Backup
10. Delete old backups!
11. Persistent settings
12. User-defined backup locations!
13. ADB Sideload
14. Touchscreen calibration
Why the name Cannibal Open Touch?
Because we can. The name also embodies everything that Cannibal Open Touch is. It is no longer just a variant of ClockworkMod Recovery, it is it's own recovery by itself. Combining features from ClockworkMod 5, Team UtterChaos' Sony Xperia recovery, AmonRa 3.0.6, Xionia CWMA and a heaping helping of our own special enhancements it is truly revolutionary.
What to do when an error occurs:
DO NOT simply say "xxxx doesn't work" as that is highly unhelpful and will probably be ignored. Instead, post the recovery log! To grab a log when an error occurs, simply open a terminal (or command prompt if on Windows), "cd" to an easily accessible directory and execute:
Code:
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
Paste the log as an attachment (don't paste the text inside, as it can be quite lengthy), or paste it on pastebin.com.
WARNING!
If you are upgrading from a previous version of Cannibal Open Touch you must delete the settings.ini file located in the cotrecovery folder on your sdcard!
Flashing instructions:
1. Follow these instructions (external link) for installing flash_image if you haven't already done so.
2. Make sure USB Debugging is ON and that you have ADB access
3. Download the Cannibal Open Touch image from the download link below.
4. Place the recovery image on your SD Card.
5. Fire up an ADB shell
6. Make sure you are in a root shell. If you are not, execute the "su" command now.
7. Execute "flash_image recovery /path/to/recovery.img" (replace /path/to/recovery.img with the ACTUAL path to the recovery image)
8. Reboot to recovery mode
9. PROFIT!
Already have a custom recovery?
1. Download the ZIP installer from the download link below
2. Reboot to recovery
3. Flash the ZIP installer as you would a ROM or Kernel (that is, flash it from recovery)
4. PROFIT!

Awesome! An update for the V, so unexpected. This project was a huge success!

Ok. This is very impressive. Should post your installer zip file as well. Very polished
Big plus having a zip. This will benifit those that manage to get themselves into a recovery loop, but don't what to revert to Xionia (which really only works best with Froyo ROMs).

I like the look of this recovery and I was wondering how I'd go about porting it. I have the One V and I noticed you have a topic on your forums for the One V but nothing posted on it.
Cheers, worldindo1.

One V has some bugs and is still in the beta section of the POC Forums, we actually need some new testers noone has responded to my recent inquiries regarding the last bug report.
BUMP for awareness... BEST RECOVERY OUT THERE!!! HANDS DOWN!!! :good:

Apologies for my lateness in responding. I would be more than willing to test it out if you want. If you shoot me a copy I could test it and get back to you on how everything works.
This should work w/ Vortex, correct?

This has only been tested on the Optimus V, I would be very careful about checking the board settings for the VM670 vs the Vortex before trying to flash this recovery. I honestly don't know if it will work without looking into the Vortex a bit.
Can this be flashed using the Flash Image GUI app by joeykrim? Thanks.

there's a little-known trick, you can retain your existing recovery while testing another, but you'll lose your ROM boot.
You can
Code:
flash_image boot recovery.img
since they're the same type of compressed image. I've done it on the V and had others do it on the S. When you use the recovery to flash a ROM it overwrites the boot-img recovery you just installed. It's a regular power on to get into the boot-img version of a recovery, and you can use the key combo to boot into your working recovery after testing it.
Beware, though. Incompatible kernels may mess up your device good. I deliberately flashed a p500 kernel to my V, it locked up nastily, and it wouldn't power on without rebooting for hours after reflashing a usable kernel. for days, I couldn't overclock, and it always seemed weaker after that.

flash image gui works fine on the optimus v, and shouldn't have any issues with this recovery.
As the link is dead and could not access, I found this working and put to who need this recovery. My friend KF have problem with touch screen, some part had not response to touch. so the TWRP could not slide to recovery. I hope this work

WOW You've been busy. lol
Thanks for all the effort you have put in.
As already stated: wow! You're on a roll! Thanks a lot for sharing everything with the community.
Can we hope for an Everest version of this as well?

cant wait till everest cm comes!
Dude seriously? This is way beyond awesome :victory:
I bet you are having longer new year holiday for this Waiting for the Everest as well
For the user, what is the difference of KitKat Omni and CM in this device?
Hmm what the !!, I thought CM was dead for Xoom??Big round of applause for you all, especially from us Everesters...
Everest already?! You're not human! :sly:
Really eager to try this on my Everest. As asked above, difference of user experience between CM and Omni?
Once again, a big round of applause for you Schischu!

sadly, it isn't updating its "FAILING" error executing updater binary, ooops I think it bricked
Try redownloading the rom.
There was an error on the server which caused all files downloaded earlier today to be invalid.
And the md5sum is also invalid, so dont copy it to your device.
Which gapps do i need to download by the way?
I've managed to successfully install the ROM and have found the following issues -
Not sure what version of gapps to install as there are no links. Tried downloading gapps-kk-20131208.zip from cyanogen but get the following error.
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/gapps-kk-20131208.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/gapps-kk-20131208.zip
Updating partition details...
Messaging - Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped
Camera - Unfortunately, Camera has stopped
Flash content - no video, audio only
Also, in the developer options the lowest Animation scale duration is .5x (not .25x)
Great to see some fine development, keep up the good work.
Also like to add to the above that the font inside the folders are cut off.
Font for the battery percentage inside the circle also not centred.
Thanks for your great work. My Xoom feels faster than ever in everyday use.
Edit:
Just installed nova and everything working fine minus camera crashing.
CM11 for the xoom is awesome news!!! I just installed todays (wingray) and as mentioned the camera isn't working. Also, where is "mmersive mode?" Any idea why on the omni rom with immersive mode is enabled, homescreen scrolling is completely lag free?
Again, thanks for continuing to take the time and support this device. I just came from stock 4.1.2, tried cm10.1 but it hung up too much. CM11 is ridiculously fast!

both PA and banks core gapps work fine
Sent from my Nexus 5
Just installed the latest version (cm-11-20140104-UNOFFICIAL-1537+0100-wingray). Camera and messaging issues now fixed :good: Also installed pa gapps and the apps seem to be running fine (gmail, play store, voice search and youtube).
The only other thing to note is that when scrolling from one home screen to another you are left with a white transparent background. Not sure if this launcher related or something else.
Great ROM for such an early build.
Edit:
Forgot to mention that flash content from bbc.co.uk is still audio only.
Amazing !
Better compatibilty than OMNIROM.
More fluidity, faster boot and now, games from King.com work fine.
Thanks very much.
Thank you for CM11, but no advantages (only double-tap to sleep) to Omni-Rom, but same disadvantages:
- TB has problems with superuser (can't delete sams apps)
- fc with toogles
- start in recovery?
- Omni feels smoother
- no expanded mod
I got the updated rom in, successful, but Gapps =kk-20131119 failed, is there a link for PA or Banks?

I got it booting, it also flashes files correctly, but somehow the reboot actions won't work - it stucks at the background and all options gone
I am sure to fix it in short time.
I hope @Phil3759 can help getting it work to bring up this wonderfull recovery to you.
If someone is interested in Testing:
i can upload a build for you. But at the moment you need to reboot into downloadmode and reboot the device from there to go back into your running system
I posted a recoverylog and all needed information here in hope to get some help in fixing it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52584394&postcount=3950

Nice. I've tried this before on i8190, with a port that @Unjustified Dev made from the T599 Philz recovery. It had reboot issus too, so every reboot option made it reboot back to recovery.
Hope you get it sorted out.
@tys0n it reboots but it takes long time i'll try something else after my OmniROM for Tab 3 finished compiling
Edit:
Posted Screensot in 2nd post
Edit2:
Still not working after clicking on "Reboot..." i need to wait 5 minutes

Hey @Android-Andi,
great work, as usual! Did you cross-check with this reboot code, see: https://github.com/TeamCanjica/android_system_core/commit/b6cb91b1f70c969bb0f818a24111c0ca055be590
That's an infamous issue on STE devices, which I came across initially with Omni as well. Just a guess, but could be the same root cause.
thanks @golden-guy forgot about that. i´ll try again and see this commit will fix it. else i can try the kernel-hack
@golden-guy you are my hero rebooting now fine without issues
I attached PhilZ Touch 6.41.5 in 3rd Post
Use on your Own risk feel free to give some feedback or report issues.
Edit:
Just flashed my selfmade OmniROM without issues I love PhilZ Touch Running it for a long time now on my P3110.
Is anyone running it ? I'm on twrp which is quite optimized for our device, would it worth a try flashing this?
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
@Balino i am running it already. No problems found. If you don't like it, then you can flash TWRP.zip everytime from the recovery to get it back
Give it a try and post some feedback - i am sure you like PhilZ and all it's advanced Functions and options (all Features mentioned in the main thread -first post -, also 3rd post is a quick-guide).

Thank you for reply but I was wondering if it is as optimized as twrp from nova fusion... Full selinux support etc
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, without selinux supported kernel you can not flash KitKat ROMs
Trying won't hurt you also I am not using a prebuild kernel for my recoveries.
Well I tested it and it's working well but I Like twrp more... Keep up the good work anyway...
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
Good work Guys thank you
Great work, i have waited sooo long for this recovery
Keep up your awesome work!!
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Also, waited and waited, finally my wait is over!
A BIGGA thank man!
Edit:
My feedback:
Recovery itself is as expected, i don't find any missing feature / functionality or so compared to official supported devices by Phil...
CM11 flashing test went just fine, no problems etc.
Is it just me, or a bug?
I can't get device listed "adb devices" while in recovery mode. Same with TWRP.
Also tried to kill server and restart as root but it didn't help.
The one from novafusion works for me so it shouldn't be computer related.
.

Been missing TWRP recovery?
Personally speaking, TWRP is my favourite recovery, and I successfully repacked boot.img with TWRP ver. 2.7.1.0.
Credits to @osm0sis for providing Android Image Kitchen and @humberos for building Omnirom here.
Installation: (nandroid backup first, just in case)
- download img file here
- power off handphone
- press vol up while connecting handphone with pc
- open command prompt, and type "fastboot.exe flash boot bootBeanStalk4010-TWRP.img"
- reboot to recovery (to check)
There are many themes for TWRP out there (search with keywords "TWRP theme 1080")
BTW, I use X-trem theme as shown in attachment.
Enjoy!

There are many themes for TWRP out there (search with keywords "TWRP theme 1080")
BTW, I use X-trem theme as shown in attachment.
Enjoy!

Things new in this version (that I notice):

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 7 (Nougat)?
A: Yes, this is Android 7.1.2
Q: What code is Oct-N based on?
A: This version of Oct-N is based on LineageOS 14.1
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But all the others have..
A: ROM developers, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-N.
Q: What about root?
A: Root is removed by default (user will be able to flash which ever root zip they want)
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favorite Open Gapps package http://opengapps.org
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
The Oct-N ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your Gapps Provider. When dirty flashing weekly updates, you MUST reflash Gapps along with any other files, apps, custom mods or kernels etc.. (anything that resides in system partition)
Flash ROM, GApps and any additional .ZIP files
Reboot

You have to turn root on in developer optiond, we haven't included SuperSU in the ROM zip yet.Alternatively you can flash the latest SuperSU zip version 2.79R2.
I like it. Installed today. Only one problem. volume buttons do not change speakerphone volume during call... default is full volume. I can't figure out how to change this

I don't get it. Where are the ROM zip files? I can't find them in Octos page.

I couldn't get them off OctOS site either - I found them at www androidfilehost com search for d2att.zip - the first result is OCT-N-COMMUNITY-20170102-0343-d2att.zip followed by older builds. This is what I flashed.
Hey guys! Weeklies are up!!
https://www.teamoctos.com/oct-n-weekly-lineageos-base/
Go get em'!
Wow! Downloading! If the camera works well i might make this as my daily driver, RR or lonelyskatter seems to be taking a break atm...
Edit: hell yeah, I found my new ROM, thank you for this team OctOS!
Your first post mentions CM14 as the base, but the download link goes to AOSP based downloads. That page does not have d2att downloads. You have to go over to the lineage OS based downloads. There is another thread already started for lineage OS based Firmware. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/orig-development/rom-team-octos-oct-n-t3532582
Just thought I point out some things that might confuse people.
Thanks for the rom. Running well. About TWRP nandroid backups. Do you mean the backup wont install or TWRP wont backup the rom at all? I just did a backup with the latest TWRP 3.0.2

Oh, it will APPEAR to work. After you restore the image, you can boot, but you will get endless phone force closes. If you find a way to get an N backup to restore on d2 without those FC, please share.

Just tried it. Would not restore at all. Thanks for the reply.
Is this stable enough for daily use? If not, what are the current bugs/problems?

I've been using it as a DD for weeks now. Not all features have made it back & there are a few empty spots "yet to be filled" in tentacles but other then that its solid.
Currently my only choice in ROM, hands down.
Few problems to report, of course.
If you tap system profiles, some app called lineageos crashes. Guess that's the system profiles app.
I can't remove the status bar icon for built in superuser. Would be nice.
Loving substratum. Bought swift dark to try it out. Notifications did not get themed. Still that white color. Most everything seems to work as intended, except if I'm using aosp keyboard its also light. But it could be google keyboard or something. That's probably an issue with the theme rather than the ROM, so I'm not too worried about that.
Camera works, guys. Cause nobody seemed to mention that.
Other than those minor disturbances, great ROM. Daily driver ready.
